Melai nodded. "Yes we're going in," he confirmed to the question that came from everywhere at once, since they apparently now all needed Melai's permission although they had already been invited inside by Retzaan himself, "And thank you Retzaa-aaahhhn..." Suddenly, Melai's voice grew unclear, and it took him a moment to realize why... the Buzzer's poison had spread even further, numbing his tongue and his jaw so both now just hang lifelessly from his head. "Okchai Lyiah," he said with a sigh, "Quyou cahn rehmowe 'he 'oischion ich quyou 'ahnt..."
He says he wants the one called Lya to remove the poison, Retzaan's voice filled their heads once again, And please, come in. We have much to discuss, you and us. We must admit that we were rather annoyed that Melai was late on his delivery of our weapons, but that he has brought all of you to us makes up for that quite will. We have just the kind of assignment that will show whether we can use you for the good of the entire universe. Should we have one of my men prepare some tea and cookies for you? We must say, we could use large amounts of sugar after having manipulated so many minds at once...

What would have been a simple task ten minutes ago, had now invaded Melai's brain. She really didn't want to upset him, but there was no other way. It would be over in less than a minute, for him anyway. She hoped she wasn't further traumatised. It had been bad enough just merging with his mind the last time. Assuming her natural form she slipped into Melai, she knew his DNA from the previous merge. Identifying everything that wasn't Melai, she expelled it past herself, until she reached his mind. She was reluctant to enter, but she couldn't leave him like this. A mad thrashing of thoughts assailed her, but it was just his mind trying to fight the numbing effect. She couldn't avoid hearing them until the poison was flushed. As it was forced out, she was again amazed buy the pleasure associated with his mind. So much turmoil had occured this day, it was a temptation to just relax there within Melai...let the tension disappear. Instead, she pulled away, leaving behind nothing, but brief pleasure, and a lingering sense of regret. Again she was standing in front of him, arms still secured beneath his until he got his footing. "Better?" She smiled, "Got you feet back?"

Withdrawing her arms, she turned to Shadow Claw, "Thank you for your defense. I made a good bargain, you are well able to fight. How severe are your injuries?" She reached toward his wound, still oozing green fluid. How she wished she could repair tissue, but it was not among her abilities. She was rather young for a Telkran, and Melai's Telekinesis was her first acquired talent. "I tried to get aide for you, but got no response from the strange bug in our minds. I do not want you permanently damaged, I should have gotten you a shield like Talon's. Perhaps when we return to the ship you would like one?."

When she spotted Talon, he still seemed out of sorts. She hoped his irritaion wasn't with her. She was tired of being squeezed between him and Melai. How was she to know Terra Gamma was this volatile? At least he had a shield. "Talon, I see you made it through all that in one piece? That shield is a marvel. If the ship had fired, it is likely you would have been the only one left standing here. It gives me peace of mind knowing you have it on. Now lets see what this is all about?" She followed the others inside and onto the lift. "I really just wanted to unload my cargo, and gain a foothold in the black market here. There is more to business than selling on the open market. My thinking is, if there are Imperials, there are enemies that want to kill them. Why not sell to both sides, hmmmm?"

Shadow Claw turned around as Melai had lost his ability to speak. Lya had removed the pison from him, and turned towards the Silencer. "Thank you for your defense. I made a good bargain, you are well able to fight. How severe are your injuries?" The pain had surged towards his mind, as he remembered the injury on his shoulder. He grunted, and thought about the pain receding into a numb state. A few minutes later, and the numb feeling in his shoulder came. "I tried to get aide for you, but got no response from the strange bug in our minds. I do not want you permanently damaged, I should have gotten you a shield like Talon's. Perhaps when we return to the ship you would like one?."

"I'll be fine, Lya. I have been through worse conditions before, and had gotten off without another scar to add to the lot that I have already. If the wound is cracked, then it's not going to affect my shoulder." He rolled his numb shoulder in its jopint, checking to see if was just a crack. "There seems to be no damage to the muscles underneath. I wouldn't need a shield for hand to hand combat, since my exoskeleton is strong enough for that. Anything like a fired missile, and I would break like a toothpick."

He started to walk towards the doorway, ready to inspect the inside for anything dangerous. "You hired me to protect you and Melai. I was just doing my job." Once he had finished his statement, he walked in.

Walking into the compound in which he was certain an entity that didn't approve of their presence their awaited Talon grew more and more distracted. His focus on watching everything at once caused him to become more and more unfocused as time went on. He didn't actually realize he was being spoken to at first, until he realized someone was talking about the shield he was wearing and how it would have protected him above all of the others. That was something he didn't want to put out on the market, but it would look very good about his personal bodyguard, if every member of his guard was decked out with such powerful shielding he would become an even more dangerous individual in the long run.

Turning to his partner he attempted to smile at her but found he could not bring himself to do it. He was no longer absolutely sure he could trust her, or anyone else for that matter. If it came down to things he was on his own, with the possible addition of the people he was paying to keep him alive, and he wasn't even sure of them, as their loyalty actually tended to lie with their wallets. That was the way of all mercenaries, probably as it should be. Her remarks on selling to both sides did however bring a heavy smile to his lips. That was somewhere in his plans as well, but in his plans two sides wasn't even the beginning of it. A war never simply had two sides, he would sell to everyone, and the demand would only grow larger.
" Yes the shielding is quite nice, while I can't say I think so well of it as you do. I haven't actually had a chance to see it in action yet. I agree with you in more ways than you can think Lya, selling to both sides is an important part of my business strategy."
"I mourn that which may have been but will never be."

"Stupidity is a wound that bleeds forever; Intelligence is a blade that stays forever sharp"

"An armed man will kill and unarmed man with monotonous regularity"

"Nothing adds a little class to a sniper course like a babe in a Ghillie suit."

"You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it."

"Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, 'cause it's going to be empty."

The engines of his ship strained to pull the excessive weight of the extra starship. Though they flared brightly, the Howling Warg only sluggishly lifted into the relatively thin atmosphere of Terra Gamma. Fearing that others would take advantage of his slow ascent, Derth powered up the weaponry of the Howling Warg. Several large turrets came out of the hull of the Howling Warg. They looked primitive, but what they lacked in finesse, they made up with brute force.

A light on Derth’s control panel flashed red, and the sensors showed a turret emplacement on the ground started targeting him. Derth worked the weapon controls with three of his hands. A bank of cannons on the Warg turned towards the turret and blasted out malevolent red beams. The beams struck, piercing through the turret, causing it to glow a cherry red for a moment before blowing up in a scattering of shrapanel.

Breaking free of the asteroid’s gravity, Derth guided the Howling Warg out into open space, speeding as quickly as the overburdened spaceship could go. He aimed for a weakened portion of space, the head of the node line.

Once Lya finished whatever she was doing to him while in her natural particle-form, Melai suddenly felt completely refreshed and healthy (except the still-bleeding wound on his left shoulder, of course), the effect of the Buzzer's poison almost instantly being removed from his entire body at once, and it was with great joy that he realized that he had regained the full mobility of his limbs and face.
"I've got to admit," Melai entrusted Lya as he stood up on his own once again, grinning at her, "That even beats getting laid. You alien people have some useful skills after all, other than grabbing vital pieces of equipment from others' ships - though that may prove useful as well."

Having said that, Melai went into the enormous skyscraper that was Retzaan's headquarters as well, and went into the sizable elevator with the rest of his new, rather blend crew, but although Melai knew that they were no longer in immediate danger, the fact that the walls and floor of the elevator seemed to be alive with ants still bothered him, knowing that it was Retzaan himself.
"Look Retzaan, I'm sorry about your weapons shipment... but I lost my crew, and nearly lost the Rey de los Muerte as well, because the Imperials attacked us! It was a miracle that I got away," he tried to explain to the Mind, "Of course I'll try to get the weapons back, in time, but right now I just don't have enough men..."
You should know better than to try to lie to us, Retzaan's voice announced inside Melai's head, Your situation is true, but it was because you foolishly attacked an Imperial vessel, not the other way around, that you are in that situation. And we do not even need to read your thoughts to know that you still are in possession of some of our weapons... we just need to look at you. Fortunately for all of us, your failure works at our favor, though. Have you thought about taking up on our offer, Melai?
"I've thought about it all right," Melai shrugged, "But being a lab rat just isn't my thing. I'm more the ship-boarding, beer-drinking, wife-stealing space pirate-type. But thanks anyways."
Too bad. We can always use more people with us with advanced cerebral abilities such as you and us - especially telekinetics such as yourself.

After a few moments, the double-doors of the elevator opened up, revealing a large room with a desk at the far end, where the entire wall was made up by a single transparent window as well, granting everyone in the room full view over as much of Terra Gamma as could be seen, considering it was such a small globe. As soon as Melai stepped out of the elevator, several humans dressed in white towards them, carrying kits which were obviously meant for medical treatment of some sort - so Retzaan had heard that they had requested help. Melai had to admit that he was a little frightened that the Mind could transfer his thoughts over that long distances, and even without the group hearing them.

Then, as the mass of ants moved across the floor, pouring out of the elevator like a black flood and crawling towards the desk, a humanoid shape slowly formed there, growing bigger by the second, until it was large enough to fit into the chair behind the desk. It was quite odd looking at, even Melai had to admit, although he had seen it before... it more-or-less just looked like a regular man that was completely covered by ants that constantly crawled back and forth on his skin... except under the ants, there was no skin, no flesh, no bones... just more ants.
Okay, Retzaan's voice said, Let us talk business, then.

I want, I can, I do
Zet'kil shot a confused, if not worried look at Melai, when he suddenly lost the ability to speak clearly. She had to admit she had no idea what he tried to say, before Retzaan filled that part in. The power of this telepathic being's abilities was almost intimidating... but that had to do something with the mere idea that there might be a situation she no longer can control herself. Which would be the last thing she would want, no matter whether she knows she is being controlled or not.

...and please, come in.

Still a little hesitant- because of reasons mentioned- she walked in, wondering what 'tea and cookies' were, and what would those do to her, in the case she would try to actually eat them. Tea was mostly water, and water, even when she did not have a drop of it inside her, was not a dangerous thing. As for the rest, she could make no guess.

As they were moving into the elevator she still eyed the mass of ants, which now seemingly accompanied them everywhere, suspiciously, despite of the seemingly friendly attitude the being. Although, it appeared odd to her, that the others called him a 'he', instead of 'they', like beings built up by many separate, though connected, lifeforms commonly were. Or at least were in the Xeian community.

Finally in a some kind of room which appeared to be an office, she waited, as Retzaan seemed to build up a shape of a humanoid, not helping but to wonder whether it actually gave him some physical advantages, besides of looking like a human or having a little higher point of view- If he couldn't use the eyes of anyone he wished, of course. That shouldn't be harder than reading the thoughts of someone very far away, should it? At least she hoped the ability is at least limited to not work on technology, since she hadn't heard of such kind of telepath who could control the technology. There were still some mechanical races, which were either the remains of died-out races or experimental creations...
And some of them were the reason why Xeians rarely, if at all, gave their creations artificial intelligence. As far as she knew, no telepathic ability could affect them, despite of them at last being accepted as living beings with free will, rather than mere things.

Lost in the trail of thoughts, Zet'kil barely noticed anything going around, before she once again heard Retzaan's voice in her head.
"Yes? May I ask what kind of business it is?" She asked rather plainly.
A thought can create a world, but only a word written down can ensure its existence.

-When I am physically capable of doing something it doesn't mean I can do it. When I can, it doesn't mean that I should. When I should, it doesn't mean that I must. When I must, it doesn't mean that I will.
-I might not always know where I currently am, but I am never lost. I know in which direction my destination lies.
-There is no faith in knowing. I prefer to know, as only in this way can I be certain in my decisions.
-The more people you ask a question the higher the chance that at least one of them is right.
-Make me walk on walls, don't force me to dance according to others' will.
-I agree that life can be depressing at times. I just choose to ignore it.
-I don't figure over possibilities. I want, I can, I do.

As she entered the building with the others, she withdrew a little into herself. The presence of the mind was hard to shut out. Now that she knew what it was, she could put up a little bit of a defence, but it was minimal at best. The Minds telepathy could actually be felt against her skin as if the ants were crawling on her. It was unnerving, and her instinct was to flee. There were not many beings that intimidated her, but this one did. While she wanted to make a profit, it would seem this Mind had other plans for them.

She eased closer to Melai, still baffled by her reaction to the smile he had given her earlier. That ever present clenching in her chest had disappeared. This was all so confusing. There were strange beings everywhere throughout the galaxies, but humans were so....conflicted. She was for the first time, feeling like she had gotten herself in deeper than she could handle. The last thing she wanted to do was admit defeat, but the business aspect of things here with Talon, was already set. If she just got on her ship and fled home, no one would know how badly she had failed. Well except maybe a possible mate. That would be entirely out of the question if she went home. No other Telkran would have her. She had to stay. She had to figure out these human emotions. She had to make them go away. Until she did she was on Melai, like slime an a Belisian Slugworm.

Once the elevator opened, and the Mind formed itself in the chair, she knew her efforts were in vain. The harder she tried to force the Mind out of her the worse her skin crawled. With a final shiver she gave up trying to resist, and his invasive thoughts poured in.

Okay, Retzaan's voice said, Let us talk business, then.

Business? He wanted to talk business? This might be just perfect after all. Unless of course he wanted to hire her. She was a profiteer not a, whore hound willing to sell her services. She sold merchandise, not herself. But she may as well hear the offer. If Melai agreed she might be forced to go just to keep him safe.

I Role Play because the people in my head tell me to.

We wish to make a transaction, the Mind responded to Zet'kil's question, To buy something, but the item we crave is not something that is currently in your possession, and not something that can be obtained anywhere - which is why we need you to obtain this object for us so that we may buy it from you. Tea and cookies? The last question was sudden and completely unexpected, and even more so was that, the very second the Mind has 'spoken' the question, doors slid open in both ends of the large office, and groups of Oris entered, crawling on all of their legs and carrying platters of a material that greatly reminded of pure silver on their backs, and on these platters, steaming tea-pots and bowls with cookies (Is that chocolate-chips in the cookies? Melai thought, feeling his mouth fill with salvia) were balancing. Once the Oris reached Retzaan's desk, two of the humans in white went over there to unload the insectoids' cargo and put it on the desk. The largest bowl of cookies was placed directly in front of Retzaan, and once all of the tea and cookies were placed there, the Oris left the same way they arrived, and the humans in white continued treating the injuries that some of the members of their little crew had suffered.

Raising one hand, made entirely out of ants, of course, Retzaan simply put the palm of that hand down on his bowl of cookies, and the ants seemed to spread out from it to completely cover the entire bowl, and in seconds, the ants retreated and rejoined the humanoid shape with the rest of the ants... and the bowl was empty.
Ah, heavenly. Please, have some. We had our chef make extra just for you, and she would take it as a personal insult if you were to deny even tasting it, Retzaan informed them, gesturing towards the considerable amount of cookies that remained, and the pots of tea, which was now being accompanied by cups that were brought in by more humans in white.
So, are you interested in aquiring the said item for us? We can make it worth your while, we assure you.

Theyr frowned, her apathy against the Telkran growing even stronger when she simply ignored her. However, before she could carry out her threat to rip out Lya’s throat to feed the Silencers with it, she felt something entering her mind, completely taking over her body for a short moment before it finally revealed her again. She closed her eyes, desperately trying to think of something completely dispensable to avoid any thought of what she would do to the Mind if she had the opportunity to. The last time she had met a Mind she had had to face their superinsectoid powers without warning and therefore without any walling-off. She had been lucky that the Mind was one of the few who actually had some sense of humor. Chocolate cakes. And this nice picture my nephew had given to me once. What was it show… Oh, yes, a tree or something like that. With needles. And some sort of lights. Looked strange, but it’s the willingness that counts after all. And then there were these balls, whatever they were doing of a tree…

She bit her lips when she noticed Melai allowing the Telkran to do whatever she was up to; removing the poison or something like that and quickly returned to her aberrant thoughts. Not much longer and she would try to mangle her anyway, no matter how long it would take and how often she’d have to do it. Maybe she could try to return to the Terra and put her in these old establishments able to split molecules or something like that… Fuck! The picture, yeah. There were these ropes strung around the tree as well, dunno why. Maybe he thought that the tree could run away or something? And… And there were… Oh, dammitdammitdammit!

After Lya finished what she had done and Melai seemed to do better, she followed them into the building of the Mind. She kept her eyes focusing on the floor – it somehow like marble or something similar – in order not to see something or someone she wanted to kill, destroy, stab, rape, strangle, murder, poison, rip in pieces, slay, dispatch, fratricide, electrocute, halter, fuck, burst or squelch – in other words, everyone. Theyr ignored the talking about business studiously and focused on the pattern of the flagging. Most of her business happened to be slaying humanoids, and she doubted that the Mind would be very taken with that. Unfortunately.

Following the Mind’s demand she took one of the cookies and started to nibbled. Minds might not be very open, but she doubted that this one would want to poison them. From what she had caught besides observing the little cracks in the tile right beside her foot and the little dislocation of another one near the Silencer serving Lya, he wanted to hire Melai for something that seemed to be important to him.
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
