A door opened in the corridor, to the right of Shadow-claw. It revealed a jacuzzi big enough for 8 men and a spacious chamber, decorated with neon lights and lava lamps. In the middle of the room, there was a large piece of furniture that had a round, banana shape and partially encircled a small round table which levitated a few feet above the floor. A pleasant sounding chime could be heard, soon followed by the computer's voice. "Captain Emerson is currently unavailable, and asked me to convey his regrets for not being able to join you at this time. He has, however, instructed me to make one of our guestrooms available during your stay aboard the Apollyon. Please take note that this is a military vessel, so some luxury items may be partial or missing altogether. Thank you for your cooperation." Meanwhile, Emerson detached himself from the ship's command interface and rose from his chair, stretching his limbs. "Nemesis, have the Grekk ambassador dock in Bay three, port side. Instruct two men to escort me and prepare the lobby for use. Remove propaganda material and post military and scientific history instead on the display screens. Play a few relaxing but reasonably powerful classical tunes." He instructed, while taking up his hat and adjusting the brim of his uniform. He wanted to look sharp, so he also pulled on the two white silk gloves and placed the hat under his left shoulder. "Aye-aye." Nemesis replied, and the hologram flickered slightly as a faint giggle could be heard. After a brief pause, she added. "I love it when you're in your brassy uniform." She added with a smile spreading across her face. Joshua took a deep breath, and nodded at her. A few strands of his hair slid off into his face. "Wish me luck." He said with a sigh heaved in. He took one last look at her; she kept smiling with fingers crossed. And then, Emerson stepped outside the command chamber, on to the Apollyon's main bridge. A large, half-circular chamber filled with bustling technicians and security personnel at all times. Two skippers accompanied him, both wearing festival uniforms for the occasion, marching in unison with Emerson's firm steps as they walked down the corridors leading to the lobby where they would meet the Grekk admiral. Rubbing the spot on his neck Talon half listened as his new business partner spoke. The sensation of her merge had been pleasant, but he never wanted to feel it's like again. His head was pounding worse than it had been before, and he wasn't sure what had caused it. However with the strange presence gone from his mind he could feel it fading quickly, and that was the only cause he could imagine. It seemed they would get along just fine. He could set up his men to begin working the routes, and eventually bring in enough money to expand. For now it would start with ships in the air. Later he could put embassies on the planets, at least he hoped for that anyway. If he simply wanted money for himself, well he already had that. Now he would have control, eventually he would find worthy opponents, the entire thing was a game to him. A game with money and lots of it. A game who's other major players included his parents, and he didn't plan to let them win above him. As she asked him to travel with her, his thoughts turned to that problem. He had enlisted the aid of Melai to get them this far, and he had paid them back for their travels this far. It seemed that he would be abandoning that group for his business. Clashing with the Empire could be a problem, but he doubted he would be forced into to much dealing with the Empire anyway. Since they were technically humans however, they would be forced to go through him partially as well. At least as he understood it, so perhaps he would make an appearance after all. The entire day was too good to be true. Turning back behind him Talon raised one hand to wave back at Melai. Stepping farther into the ship and yelling back to him as he did. " Alas Melai, it appears that we will be parting ways this day. Perhaps we will meet again, it is more likely however, that we will not." Turning to the Telkran who was his new partner he bowed low. " Where do you plan to head in this ship of yours? I would love to accompany you for a time at least. Perhaps it will strengthen our partnership, and with more to do we can leave much quicker this way." |

Cursing that the Captain was unavailable for the second time today, Shadow-claw thanked the AI, and stood there. "Well... I guess I'll go and inspect my quaters, since there's nothing else to do..." He said, walking into the new living space that he was given to. He walked in to see a huge space, much to his liking. "Hehe... maybe this Captain Emerson has style, after all. I thought that he was a cruel bastard that would get his way, but, by looking in this room, I can see that he does have a heart for his collegues..." While walking around, a little rage started to build up. After a few minutes, he snapped. "Gah! This is hopeless! I have nothing to do until the Captain is done with his business." He walked out of the quarters, and headed towards the landing bay, where his ship was. He walked into the cabin of his ship, and lathered himself with the tree sap. Once he was done, he walked back out to see some techs having trouble lifting some heavy equipment. Rolling his red eyes, he walked over and took the heavy machinery that they were struggling with, and took it over to the Cosmic Hunter, near where the damage was. Panting for several minutes, he asked one of the techs if he could assist in the repairs of his ship. |

"Talon!" Melai called to him, "We're almost ready to leave! Are you coming or what?" Lya turned at the sound of Melai's voice, that private part of her mind wished the words were meant for her. Then a strange look crossed her face. Where did that thought come from? Why on Telkran would she want to go with Melai? That knot was back in the center of her chest. She didn't want to go with him...she needed to get away, so whatever this ache was would stop. She caught his eyes across the space between the ships, a brief longing showed in them, until she heard Talon speaking to her. Her smile broadened with his bow, at least he knew how to treat a lady. Melai hadn't so much as accepted her apology, or acknowledged the gift of the shield generator. At least she was no longer stained. With the hatch still open, Lya reached for Talon's arm to lead him back into the ship toward the control room. "Our first stop dear friend is the battle cruiser above us. I have a deal to make with the military, in our behalf. Supplying weapons can be very lucrative. Do you have any information about them? What they are fighting about?" She looked at him wondering where the best place for him to travel would be. "You can stay in the control room while I take us there, but there would be some merging since I can only fly in my natural form. Or you can remain in the holding bay, there are no seats, but there is also no inertia problem. I think you might be more comfortable in the hold. You seemed in pain after the merging, perhaps it was the abnormality in your head. I did not look, but there is something there." Edited by Oracle, Jan 18 2009, 01:14 AM.

Walking alongside her he simply shook his head momentarily. It was probably a bad idea but he would sit with her in the control room. He hadn't ever been one for complete solitude if it became a problem he would leave, but he could probably work while watching the activities from the control room. As for the military well he really didn't know that much about them. They were fairly loyal he was sure of that, and they fought for human expansion. It was there biggest goal to eradicate the bugs as far as he knew. " I think I shall accompany you into the control room. I intend to work on getting my network set up and expanding while we travel. It seems best to be in the same general area in case I need to ask questions about something or another. As for the military, I think that perhaps their largest goal is eradication of the bugs. So of course weapons effective against the bugs are probably critical to their plans. If y-- we can supply them with something more effective that they don't already have, then we can make a great deal of money." |

"That son of a bitch," Melai muttered to himself as Talon turned and went with Lya into the Telkran ship. Talon had been a big part of the solution he had hoped to find to his problems back on Terra Gamma, although he was not certain if even Talon's founds could cover his rather significant debt there. But the fact still remained that when Melai returned to Terra Gamma, he would need to rent a place to stay and he would need money for hiring a new crew for the Rey... and his reputation as a little parasite who never paid back what he owed had already gotten too widely known, so no one would lend him any credits anymore, and chances were that, if he asked, he would probably just be met with some of the thugs hired by the other loansharks. He needed a crew, but had no money and no loot to sell... he was screwed. He would actually have to get a job once he got back to Terra Gamma. "Sorry for ignoring you, Theyr," Melai said as the insectoid came aboard, "But I thought you weren't the kind of fellow that repaired ships or had a shipload of cash, so it's really limited how much I've needed you. By the way, can you shoot with a turret?" He turned to Harper. "I'll be in the cockpit. Come and tell me when the Lady Be Good is in place, and we'll take off. Oh, and do remember to close the cargo hatch after taking in your ship... it wouldn't me any fun if everything just got sucked right out of the ship the moment we left the atmosphere of Gendon Delta 7." Then, without further delay, Melai headed to the cockpit... where he quickly located the manual to the ship and started reading the chapter about getting airborne. "I'm sorry the accommodations aren't better, but the only passengers I take on board are prisoners. You don't want to be in one of their storage chambers. They automatically wipe the mind, and reprogram for service during flight. We'll see if we can make some modifications to the control room once we're aboard the Apollyon. Though I don't know how much work you'll be able to accomplish on this trip, it should take less than fifteen minutes to get to the cruiser, and land. I'll do my best to shield you from my presence during the merge. Since I have never tried this before I don't know how effective it will be. Oh..." she smiled,"Don't panic. It won't harm you to breathe me." She closed the control room door, and immediately her form relaxed, filling the chamber. It looked vaguely like gold dust swirling in a beam of light. As she merged with the panel, she closed the loading hatch, severing her last tie with Melai. Funny, she had expected the pain to leave, but for just a moment it was worse. Then they were flying, an unseen streak through the atmosphere. She headed straight for the battle cruiser, only to find it surrounded by the vessels she had spotted arriving earlier that day. For just a moment she worried, but more than likely everything was fine, or they would be shooting at each other. All the better, maybe they need weapons too. She couldn't speak, and she hoped she didn't frighten him, but she opened her thoughts enough to communicate. "Talon? I have opened up enough of our thoughts to be able to communicate. Is this uncomfortable for you? If so I will stop." Speaking through the ships voice she alerted the Apollyon to her arrival. Please advise the Captain that a have a guest with me. She deftly slipped her ship into the specified loading dock. As soon as the vessel was secure, she opened the control room. Resuming her human form, she waved Talon out and hurried him to the cargo hold. "Before we get onto that ship, we need to get you a few things." She began rummaging through her supplies and handing him a few items, the first being a belt with an odd looking buckle. "Here put this on. It's a personal shield. Even if you are thrown, you'll just skitter across the floor unharmed. I don't want anything happening to you." Next she handed him a round of cartridges for his weapon. The final item she attatched to his wrist, and another to her own. "It's a communicator, just talk into it if we get separated. That should do for now. Lest go greet the customers." She slapped him lightly on the shoulder and headed for the hatch. Edited by Oracle, Jan 18 2009, 11:00 AM.

Theyr looked towards the man who seemed to have accompanied Melai before and shrugged. One human less she had to dare. As long as she got off this planet quickly she didn’t care who lead her. “Sorry for ignoring you, Theyr. But I thought you weren't the kind of fellow that repaired ships or had a shipload of cash, so it's really limited how much I've needed you. By the way, can you shoot with a turret?" Turning towards the human she shook her head. “Well, you’re right. I’m much better at taking ships down than get them going again. And since I don’t possess a ship it’s pretty hard for me to fill it with whatever you might want to use. I’ve tried using a turret once”, she added with a sarcastic grin when she thought of her old youthful transgression and the first ship she had taken over. “And the results were three dead crukons, a slightly injured crosser – my own, by the way – and two scrap heaps that might have been space ships once. Or not. I wasn’t able to identify them. So if you plan to get me behind the trigger, don’t expect me to zero in.” She followed the man, leaving a distance of about three meters in between them. She was still tired enough to be nervous. And killing her pilot by accident was not what she wanted at the moment. |

"Let's just take one thing at the time, I suppose that since we're going to be at Terra Gamma really soon anyways, you could always do whatever you need to do once we're there. For now, let's just focus on getting the hell outta here!" "As you wish." Zet'kil replied. "Twenty minutes is a short time anyway, as I already said. I think it takes a little longer than that besides maybe half an hour or so." As she heard the man to shout something at the woman and then advising to put her ship close to her own- saying the name of her ship wrong again doing so. "Oh, and the ship is actually SX-F6A, though you can call it simply SX after the type, leaving out the model name, as you seem to have problems remembering the full name. It should be easy enough for you to remember like that." She advised, not quite keeping the slight undertone out, as she returned to observing the control. It had something about the Grekk movements and the alien ship leaving, along with many seemingly random information and messages sent to her. Finished with that, she quickly turned and followed Melai and Theyr to the cockpit, where he was... Reading? some short of thick thing with many thin sheets of some kind of white material in it- if she remembered right then humans called those things books, and the very presence of such thing seemed odd to her. Not giving it a lot of thought, she moved to the thing that was meant to fill the purpose of a control panel. Moving her hand over the controls and trying to determine the use of those she wondered why was the ship so empty... It was certainly meant to be piloted by more than one, from what she figured out. Well, it was common for Xeians to own personal ships larger than needed, because at first they were more spacious and besides, no-one knew when additional room might be needed. But those what (technically) needed more than one, were another matter. Though there were some who didn't care- like a certain male friend of hers. Finishing thee inspection of the things and screens over there, she moved back to Melai, trying to give the manual a glance. Not that she would exactly be able to read all of it, even when she tried to learn human writings on the short time she was given back there. It seemed to be something about maneuvering the ship, but that was about all she understood. "What is that about... May I ask?" She said, before adding "And as for the turret- I think I can deal with it myself, so no worries." Edited by Shienvien, Jan 18 2009, 09:02 AM.

A thought can create a world, but only a word written down can ensure its existence. -When I am physically capable of doing something it doesn't mean I can do it. When I can, it doesn't mean that I should. When I should, it doesn't mean that I must. When I must, it doesn't mean that I will. -I might not always know where I currently am, but I am never lost. I know in which direction my destination lies. -There is no faith in knowing. I prefer to know, as only in this way can I be certain in my decisions. -The more people you ask a question the higher the chance that at least one of them is right. -Make me walk on walls, don't force me to dance according to others' will. -I agree that life can be depressing at times. I just choose to ignore it. -I don't figure over possibilities. I want, I can, I do. | |

At seeing Melai's reaction, Harper gave a crowing laugh, pausing to shake her head at him. "Stars in all the 'verse, what'cha gonna do next, start pullin' her pigtails at recess?" She snorted a little more to herself as she hooted with braying laughter, over-delighted at how she had apparently managed to hit a sore point. She shook her head, continuing to laugh as she trotted out towards her ship, distracted by her giggling. A few minutes later and the Lady Be Good whirred to life, the impulse engines thrumming softly as the ship lifted gently up off the ground and slid into Melai's cargo bay, nimbly skirting around the people and the other ship in the bay to land again, engine clattering a little as it powered down. |
