The weapon was a nice idea, he had been thinking of finding a way to defend himself should the need arise. He was incapable as a fighter, at least normally he was. He remembered the fight before at that moment. The event that was causing him to flee the planet in the first place. The seizure as the doctor had called it, he had been able to fight then. Although seemingly not without hurting himself, he had broken his own wrist killing one of his attackers. Strangely he could remember it still, the doctor had said one could not normally recall a seizure such as the one he had at all. Shaking free of his thoughts he pulled the weapon up as his strange alien guide moved on. His purchases should come last, as he was working as the consultant of the other man. However since she chose to show him these wares first he would make what purchases he could then quickly. The larger part of his bargaining would have to come last. The weapon itself was light, and it's use seemed simply, he wasn't sure that there was anything better for him. Although a fatal weapon appealed to him more for some reason. There was just so much finality to death, an enemy couldn't come after him later if he was dead. Carrying the small weapon with him he moved on alongside her. Computers, now this was more his area of interest. Something that could set his new hastily made plan of action in motion should he choose to do so. He quickly selected a small powerful computer, barely the size of his hand it projected a semi-solid screen and keyboard upon need. It would serve as the mobile terminal for the link he would have installed, and be useful when he didn't want to connect himself. Many of the other tasks would be his alone, he had a small network stolen out from underneath his father that would make much of his task easier. A smaller network entirely his own existed beneath the level that his father worked on, one that would make his life practically simple if he did things right. Moving up near the woman he started to speak, laying out a few plans for himself and leaving the rest for after finishing Melai's business. " As for these links you speak of, one of those will be necessary. That is if you have the necessary equipment to install one. However I would like to know if they have been tested on humans. I'm not sure what kind of interplanetary testing exists but I would not like to risk my mind should things be less simple. I will have more of my personal business to discuss with you later, as well as the final price of my purchases. But perhaps we should tend to Melai's ship first and foremost. As for Melai I think that perhaps weapons are in order, although modifications to his plan perhaps should not be made without at least his approval. I believe that for a rough plan we should take an estimate of what he already has in operable condition. To do that it may be necessary to call him back in." Just the thought sickened Talon, the man was a fool. An idiot with money at the best, and an idiot overall at the worst. However perhaps he could keep the man from doing any bargaining, and simply get him to hand over a list of his desires for his ship. |

Shadow-claw looked in amazement as his ship was being repaired. the acid was being removed with a method that he had only dreamed of doing himself. He felt uncomfortable as some of the techs gave him the look that he had recieved back down on the planet. Lathering himself with the tree sap, the Silencer listened to the tech as he told him about the information about the repairs of the Cosmic Hunter. He looked on at the armed guards, scowling at them to warn them to leave him alone, and heard the tech about him visiting his quaters. "Thanks. However, I'll be needing to talk to your captain about some important issues that has arisen in the past half hour." He walked towards the doorway where the guards stood. Unfortunately, he had misjudged the actual size of the door way, and by the time he realized his error, he was too late. His head slammed into the top of the doorway with a loud thump. Shaking the pain off from his head, he turned and snarled at the standby techs, who were laughing at his predicaments. They went silent, and started to cower away from the large insectoid. "You humans are too short, and have no respect for beings that are taller than you are." Crouching slightly, he turned his head to one of the guards and asked them to lead him to the bridge of the Apollyon. |

Talon was still holding the weapon when he joined her at the back of the hold. "I should warn you, that weapon can kill if pressed to the head of the stunned victim and fired. Be prepared for one hell of a kickback and mess if you try it; it shatters the skull. As for the wetlink, it will adapt to your species. Having scanned Melai's brain I can assure you it will function. I think I'll toss one of those on the cart as well. His ships computer is archaic. It's no wonder he crashed, if he was trying to fly by himself with all those buttons to push. This might come in handy. I think that about does it except for the weapons. I can't discuss price until I determine the value of your Imperial Credits. It would be foolish," her look cut through him, "and I'm no fool. I think it's time to see Melai." With the cart in tow, she headed with determined steps to the Rey de los Muerte. Whether Melai liked it or not, there were too many unanswered questions. His obvious dislike of her was disconcerting, but not something she couldn't work around. Right now she wasn't too fond of him either, especially if he had done something to her. Just a few questions and she would be out of his hair for good. As she approached the hatch for his ship Zet'kil appeared to be waiting. "Ah Zet'kil, I have your field generator here. I can leave it in Melai's cargo hold or deliver it to your vessel after I'm finished with business here. We were just going to see if we could find him. Would you care to join us?" She entered with the gravlift behind her, heading to where she had removed the Jump Drive. That item was already paid for, so she hefted it off the lift. Hearing the sound of machinery in the distance, she left the lift and headed toward the thumping and whirring noises. There he was wrapped up in some kind of hydraulic equipment, cleaning up one of the cargo bays. As she approached to get his attention, she stopped dead in her tracks. Her hands were tingling more with each advanced step toward him. Great galaxies! What would have happened if they had merged completely? Just another thing to get out of the way so she could get to the Apollyon. Raising her voice to be heard over the machinery she called out to get his attention. "Melai! Your presence is required." I want, I can, I do

She watched the two to move away, while pondering over the single sentence what the Telkran had said about the additional field-generator that she was about to have. I have a subspace-black hole field generator, that works on it's own energy source. And that interesting thing was even about to last longer than the whole ship. Which she doubted in, but still wondered what did it's full being mean. -A new piece of technology of course. Subspace she had heard of- it was what the other race so often used to have floating over their ships. But as for the black hole part, she wasn't so sure- now which way to take it- a field generator that used the thing as an energy source, or simply something what could create them- whic would be an advantage, since that would allow an easy formation of those fatal-natured things. But she'll learn it soon. Whichever way it worked. Field-generators were rather varying and multifunctional things, after all. "Ah Zet'kil, I have your field generator here. I can leave it in Melai's cargo hold or deliver it to your vessel after I'm finished with business here. We were just going to see if we could find him. Would you care to join us?" "My lower cargo should have enough room- so I can just put it there until it can be set in the place. But as for joining you... Why not?" She asked lightly, stopping her pondering and moving off in the direction the Telkran was going to. Only to find Melai trying to get a some kind of metal-walker into function, with the obvious attempt to get a some kind of order into his ship's cargo, where there were basically piles of useless metal. Zet'kil herself preferred too that things were in the right places- especially when she wasn't the only one to see them. She could barely imagine a month ago that she'll be in the company of human race, buying off things from a Telkran with some kind of mineral whats name she didn't know and going to fly a some kind of ship what was hard to even determine what time it was from- well once they get it repaired, though. Still, many new experiences. Speaking of which, she might even open a link to a certain friend, over a long time. He doesn't even possibly know she has a new ship- well, a small surprise in that part. Of course, it was nothing compared the thing he had himself somehow acquired, but worthy of mentioning nevertheless. She gave a short sound, expressing her feelings in that part, choosing to show anything in no more than in a in a slight manner- at least the part that wasn't related to others. ...What an odd type he was. |

A thought can create a world, but only a word written down can ensure its existence. -When I am physically capable of doing something it doesn't mean I can do it. When I can, it doesn't mean that I should. When I should, it doesn't mean that I must. When I must, it doesn't mean that I will. -I might not always know where I currently am, but I am never lost. I know in which direction my destination lies. -There is no faith in knowing. I prefer to know, as only in this way can I be certain in my decisions. -The more people you ask a question the higher the chance that at least one of them is right. -Make me walk on walls, don't force me to dance according to others' will. -I agree that life can be depressing at times. I just choose to ignore it. -I don't figure over possibilities. I want, I can, I do. | |

After only having walked back and forth in the cargo hold a couple of times, the manial machinery effectively moving large amounts of scrap metal and throwing them out the cargo hatch, into the surrounding jungle where Melai would not care the least if they were in the way, when he was suddenly interrupted as Lya announced their need of his presence in such a loud manner that Melai's Walker-bot almost lost balance due to his surprise. Muttering a few curses to himself, he went over back to the opposite wall from the hatch to the hold and, once there, he dismounted the Walker-bot and went over to the others. "Then I had better meet that requirement," Melai shrugged as he approached them, wondering how much longer it was going to take them all to get off Gendon Delta 7 and back to Terra Gamma. Whether the others approved of his decisions or not were really none of his concern, since all he cared about at the moment was to have the Rey ready for interstellar travel as quickly as possible so he could get out of there. On Terra Gamma there were no Imperials hunting for him, at least... well, there were the loansharks, though. And the bounty-hunters, but they were everywhere. Not to mention the number of angry husbands that blamed him for their wives' pregnancy, just because some silly DNA-tests revealed him as the father... But it was still preferable to being hunted by the Empire. Shooting a look at the cart that the Telkran seemed to be dragging behind her, Melai figured that he knew what they wanted. "The Starjump drive and a shield generator will be sufficient," he told her gruffly, "Everything else works just fine as it is." |

Lya prided herself on being well balanced and maintaining her temper, but the man was insufferable. She could have been happily aboard the Apollyon selling every last thing she had. But no, here she stood trying to help the man, and he was too much of a pigheaded fool to see it. She had tried to do right by him, even felt bad enough about his plight to come back. Well, there was the profit too. But she did feel bad about taking the Jump Drive. She had planed to sell it back for the labor of removing it until she sensed his Telekinetic abilities.Though she tried to keep her calm, her temper burst loose like a million tiny bees, before she could regain composure. "You know, I'm here to help you. Only the galaxy knows why. I didn't have to come back here, and I certainly didn't crash your ship. If anything at this moment you are better off than when you landed." She reached out in anger and poked his chest with her finger, drawing it back in shock. For a moment her eyes went wide. Her damned hands, why wouldn't the pleasure stop? "No one is going to have to blast you out of the sky to kill you. Some day, and soon I imagine, you'll drop dead of sheer perversity. Until then, if you're interested, I have a wetlink. I noticed your archaic computer system, the link would allow you to bypass the buttons and consoles. Your mind can pilot the ship, your every thought a command. You could fly this ship in circles around a Hunter. Melai, are you so blinded, you can't see a good thing when it's staring you in the face?" With her sparking eyes locked on his, she lifted her hand, and the shield generator practically flew off the gravlift, to land by his feet. "I need to know the value of an Imperial credit before I can charge you. I don't trust the business man to be honest about it. How much is the shield generator worth? Then I'll be gone, and you won't have to be offended by my presence anymore." Something was wrong. Her chest was heaving. This stupid humanoid form was full of unfamiliar emotions, and she didn't like it. She couldn't even tell what the feelings were. Suddenly, there was moisture dripping down her face. She reached a shaking hand up to wipe it away, but more moisture fell from her eye. Suddenly she was frightened. Holding her hand out examining the wetness, she looked back at Melai, a slight bit of terror in her eyes, and whispered, "What did you do to me? This all started with the merging...what did you do?" She wasn't sure whether to hit him or flee, so she just remained frozen in place, trying to decide. Edited by Oracle, Jan 14 2009, 01:51 AM.

As the Telkran burst out, revealing some kind of great frustration that Melai did not entirely understand, his first reaction was, of course, shock that she reacted as violently to his remark as she did, and for a moment he was actually afraid that she would just outright attack him, and with her being able to turn into particles, his revolver would be useless against her, and since she had already copied his telekinetic ability, that would do no good against her either - in other words, he would be pretty much screwed if she decided to act with violence. However, she did not, and while whether she restrained herself or simply had no harmful intentions was beyond Melai's knowledge, but either way, he had gotten over the initial shock by the time she threw the shield generator at his feet. Instead, a satisfied smile curved his lips. Every second he had been near her, her intent of bringing Melai out of balance, and at time even just piss him off, had been obvious. Finally he had succeeded turning her own methods against her. However, his selfish pleasure at having defeated Lya's psyche soon was replaced with wonder as she apparently started... weeping? He had no idea whether Telkrans usually wept, or whether they did it the way humans did, but he seriously doubted it. Also, why did she cry? Melai did not know much about women, since his relationships with them usually only lasted one night and then ended when he had to flee before their husbands returned, and he knew even less about alien women. This kind of behavior was unknown to him, and frankly, it terrified him. For a few moments, he just stood there, immobile and unable to act due to the confusion that ravaged his mind, but as he watched the crying female alien, he was suddenly reminded of the odd, nice feeling he had had when she looked through his brain, and he faintly wondered if that and Lya's sudden outburst and crying were connected? "I honestly have no idea," Melai said hesitatingly, "But it's kinda freaking me out..." |

"Freaking you out? What do you think it's doing to me?" There were a mass of emotions she couldn't comprehend, but without a reference she had no idea what they meant. All she knew was, Melai was the cause. "Telkrans don't feel things! Telkrans know pleasure, and on rare occasions anger, there is nothing else. This is neither, or is it both? You are human, what makes eyes leak?" And what was this other feeling? She wanted to leave, but it was more than that, she wanted to run. Was it fear? She wanted to be out of his presence. For the first time in her life something, someone, had hurt her. But there started the confusion. Why should the fact that he so obviously disliked her matter, one way or the other? She looked up at him, "I think I should leave. Please, what is the shield generator worth? Better yet work it out with Talon. If you want the wet link, let him know. I'll be off your ship as soon as I have my credits." Swiftly fleeing, she left behind the gravlift. Her feet barely touched the floor as she flew from the room. The relief as the pleasure-pain grew less, helped to clear her thoughts. Slowing down as she passed the jump drive, she turned back around and began reinstalling it. She wished she had never taken the thing. Having so recently removed it, she knew just how it went back together. For some reason the work took her mind off of Melai. As soon as she finished here she'd grab her credits, and get away from this hunk of rock...and that insufferable man. Edited by Oracle, Jan 14 2009, 01:22 PM.

"What the heck?" Melai exclaimed as Lya stormed out once she ended her barrage of angry shouting and questions and left him even more puzzled than before. He had no idea what had gotten into that alien, but she obviously was suddenly even more repelled by him than he was of her. Not that he cared much about what she was doing or feeling, though - once he had finished business with her and he had gotten back to Terra Gamma, her unstable opinions and mood-swings would be the Empire's problem. ...but if he did not care, then how come he kept being concerned with it? Slowly walking over to the odd cart that Lya had left behind, Melai checked its contents and acknowledged that it contained both some kind of machinery, which he guessed would be the shield generator, and a Starjump drive he easily recognized as the one that had been installed on the Rey de los Muerte just a few weeks after he bought it back then. He wondered whether he should try to get some new weapons for the vessel, or if he should purchase that computer-upgrade Lya had mentioned. He quickly came to the conclusion that he preferred the Rey to change as little as possible, and he figured that mind-controlling a ship would probably be a bad idea - especially him, who was so easily distracted, not to mention that when he also had the ability to move objects with his will alone, it would be a dangerous mix, and probably put too great a strain on his brain. "Well... the generator should be about a hundred thousand credits worth, I wager," Melai mumbled to himself, even though Lya already had left, making it quite pointless to determine the generators value, He figured that he would just have to let Talon do the bargaining once again, since he was obviously the best negotiator of them as well as Lya probably did not want to get near Melai again anytime soon, for whatever reason she freaked out like that. Melai just hoped they could get through with the business soon so he could get out of Imperial territories. |

Standing in the background Talon looked on with mild puzzlement. Whatever was going on here was obviously above him. He'd rarely spoken to bugs, and they were the only alien beings he had met before this day. Somehow this entire exchange made even less sense than he had imagined alien-human interactions could possibly be. As the alien began to march off Talon waved his hand mildly at the human man. " Worry not about the purchase of your parts, I will take care of it for you. Although I would ask once if there was anything else you needed." Seeing the man go about the cart and seem to decide against parts he left without waiting for a reply. Stepping over to the Telkran who was even then installing the jump drive on the ship he watched with little interest. Waiting as patiently as he could for her to finish working so the matter of bargaining could be seen to. Including his personal business, which as was his way he deemed more important than Melai's. " There is still the matter of our business to be seen to. A price must be decided, and you must discover the price of my credits or be at a serious disadvantage. When we have finished with that which has already be decided. There is some additional business I would like to look into before you sail off in frustration." He kept his voice calm as he spoke. Managing with impressive success to keep himself unaffected by the strange display of uncontrolled emotions from moments before. He expected some delay in her answer, emotional stress was rarely good for business transactions. |
