Billy had arrived to late. He felt the power vacuum as soon as the three had died. They had been very powerful beings, both in their world and this one. He felt a moment of sorrow for not being able to absorb thier powers, he had a feeling he was going to need it. He also sensed a great meloncholoy from the two he'd been following for quite some time, as if they had just suffered some great loss. He couldn't quite place is finger on it. He knew he couldn't hide from them at this close of a range, just outside of a mile from where they were. He decided to drive on, and wait, and see what would happen. He knew he couldn't take both of them, but maybe he wouldn't have to. He rode down the rode, and he felt the air grow colder had the hotel came into view. He knew their radar had to be pinging. He didn't even try to hide himself. He wasn't even sure that he knew how, but it struck him as odd that that thought had even entered his mind. He had been able to slowly grasp the fact that he possessed some sort of ability to control and manipulate shadows, even to walk through them, so why wouldn't only be natural to assume that he could hide, both himself and his thoughts in the shadows. He was still thinking about this when he pulled into the hotel parking lot. |

James? Golion asked. James blinked, as the haze of rage clouding his mind lifted. The last few moments had been a blur to him, he remembered swinging his fists out as the green creature tried to leap away. He remembered a crunch as his blows connected. A feeling of energy flowing into him. But now, the green thing was at his feet, it’s face was all but unrecognizable. James looked at his hands, seeing them covered in that thing’s blood. When Alacrity led him over to the blue creature, he followed numbly even as she placed his hand on it. He had changed, but he didn’t notice it. Instead of just his arms, his entire body had a stony grey skin like armor. James? Are you alright Golion asked again, his words gently piercing through the clouding around James mind. His voice was no longer distant. It was clear and plain. And James felt more than just Golion’s words, he also sensed his concern and worry for him. “Golion…” James murmured. “The boy…Aizel…” I know, James. Golion said, his regret plain across the strengthened link between him and James. We did what you could. But this is why we fight, to avoid tragedies like this on a far greater scale “… I know…but still…” James started, but before he could say more, the other two’s words managed to reach his ears. Alacrity was telling him they needed to leave before the authorities arrived. Still somewhat numb, James nodded, then got up and went back into his room. Hastily, he washed the blood off of himself and changed out of his bloodied clothes. Packing his suitcase and grabbing a blanket, he came back out to the hall. “The truck’s this way, out the east door.” James said, taking a moment to cover Aizel with the blanket. “Come on…” He headed out into the parking lot. |

Thane's eyes lingered on the boy as he walked from the room, his death was a terrible curse upon them all. It made what was going on seem all the more real, all the more serious. The usual post battle laughter of Sirl inside his head never came, and his form remained the same as he left the room with a swirl of vibrant disturbance in the air. Almost he wished they could burn the building to the ground as the ultimate funeral pyre to a child dead of another's war. Yet they wouldn't, they couldn't, it would only attract more attention to them, and endanger their cause more. He almost wept for James, who had taken to the boy quicker than Thane had ever taken to anyone in his life. Yet he didn't, tears would only break his heart a little more, and his grief would not help that of Alacrity, and suddenly she was more important than him. Walking from the room he decided not to let the power fade from him, he wasn't sure what would happen, chances are he would simply collapse in his grief. So he kept his mind close to that of Alacrity, kept Sirl at the front of his mind and the power racing through his body. They would have a better ride than before, and a new pair of allies, yet it had cost them another pair to gain those things and he didn't want to face those things yet. So he drew his own mind away from his problems simply by focusing it on soothing Alacrity. He could walk and do that much, if she recovered he felt that all could be well in the world, that somehow it would be his recovery from the grief as well. |

James showed up cleaned from blood and carrying his belongings. Alacrity almost broke down again when he covered Aizel with a blanket, but Thane reinforced the comfort of his mind upon her. She let herself go, giving in to the balm of his thoughts, sensing that it was somehow helping him too. “The truck’s this way, out the east door. Come on…” Alacrity followed him out with Thane, "We need to drive back to my car James. It won't take but a minute to pick up our gear." As they stepped into the parking lot Alacrity froze for a moment. "Wait!" She flung her arm out to stop James. It felt like the presence of another possessor, but then when she looked around it wasn't there. It was the oddest sensation. The harder she tried to see it, the more it dissipated, but when she stopped searching she felt it again, like eyes staring at the back of your neck in the dark. A shiver ran down her spine, and she grabbed Thane's hand Do you feel that Thane? She kept El closely surging through her. Something had El on edge too. His thoughts traveled to Sirl and Thane as well, I can feel the magic, but there is nothing there. We should leave quickly. |

As Billy parked the bike and got off, he noticed the first of the wielders exit the building. She froze instantly, and Billy immediatly suspected that she had seen him. But then something odd happened, she threw her arm out to stop as yet an unseen accomplice and began to look around like she was looking for something or someone. Billy wasn't sure how to react to this. He wasn't actively trying to hide. He decided to play this out and see what happened. She continued to dart her head this way and that as if actively seeking something, but everytime she appeared to have found it, she began to look around again. She was soon followed by another wrapped in a blanket, and again by a third, who was holding her hand. Billy immediatly sensed the mental and physical bond that these two wielders shared. Together they were immensly more powerful than anything he had encountered to this point. "They will make extremely powerful enemies, or extremely powerful allies." Billy thought. He would have to choose carefully which he was going to make them. The one covered with the blanket was not nearly has powerful. Billy got the impression that he had just discovered his powers, and that this was his first battle. The third one could be dealt with if need be. Billy hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. Billy wasn't one for hideing, so as all three of them moved toward a truck, he showed himself, or, assumed he took whatever action to show himself. He stepped away from the bike, at an angle that was 45 degrees from the approaching trio. He didn't want any unnecessary fireworks going off. Billy mustered his best smile and said "friend or foe?" |

((The person with the blanket on is a corpse inside the building as far as I know. Fortis has a character with us though.)) Stepping out behind Alacrity he felt only the slightest touch of the magic through her. He was so focused on keeping her from sadness that he did not notice anything as readily as he normally would have through his own senses. By the time he had pulled his mind back within his magic twisted body he could sense nothing except for the nearby feel of magic, magic concealed within humanity. Perhaps that had been what she had felt but Thane was certain, what was certain was that another was too close for comfort, and he wasn't in the mood to be trusting. A revoke formed in his palm, packed to hurl into the faces of any who would assault them. At this point he would attack without mercy even in the streets. A man stepped out nearby, a man who signaled himself out as the feeling in Thanes head as he did so. Were they friend of foe, it was hard to tell. Still close to Alacrity both physically and mentally he sent her a message through minds. Stay on your guard, potential allies can just as easily be potential enemies, and this one does not wield, I know not if he breaks or is possessed. He shows no surprise at my appearance, and as such knows us for what we are. As he stepped in front of Alacrity, the revoke cool against his palm he watched the man. In his mind Sirl still did not laugh his crazed and gleeful laugh. Instead his voice rang out, urging care, warning of enemies and hoping for allies. Just as he had moments ago done for Alacrity. With the voice in his head he almost grinned, with Sirl and Alacrity he had the greatest friends imaginable, even in grief. " Were do you stand in all of this? You can answer that question for yourself by answering my question." |

James glanced at the newcomer. He looked him over, but he decided to let Thane do the talking. James himself didn’t feel like getting into a conversation at the time. James even declined to answer Golion when the concerned being tried to speak to him. Now that the adrenaline from the battle was winding down, the shock of Aizel’s death was returning. However, it also drove home the fact that this was indeed a war. That was an assassination attempt, plain and simple, aimed to cut down a pair of new allies going to join their enemies. And they partially succeeded. We were lucky, Gol. Something about Aizel’s death distracted them. If it weren’t for that, and Thane’s and Alacrity’s timely arrival, we’d be dead. James thought. Perhaps, but now we are better able to handle them. Golion responded, When a possesser, breaker, or wielder is killed, their power or magic can be absorbed. James, you absorbed the magic of three of them, who were more powerful than yourself. We can do more than just make your skin like stone, you can now control and manipulate it, even create it to a limited extent They’ve missed their opportunity to catch us while we’re weak. We’re stronger now. James didn’t respond, but looked at his hand. By this time, the stone skin was gone, and his arm was back to normal. He opened his hand and focused on it. There was a faint shimmer, and a small, rough chunk of quartz seemed to grow up out of nothing in his palm. He focused on it again, and it quivered. Flowing like a liquid, it reshaped itself into a perfect sphere, clear and flawless. He focused yet again, and the sphere of quartz floated in the air and orbited his hand. “Incredible... You’re right, they did miss their chance. We’ll be ready for them next time.” James said aloud to Golion, plucking the quartz sphere out of the air. |

Billy was surprised to see the bigger male flaunt his power so openly in the aftermath of a display that was bound to gather unwanted attention. But this action also told him alot about him. He was niether afraid or surprised to see Billy, and was ready to defend himself and those that were with him no matter what the situation. "Where do I stand?", Billy mimicked, "About 15 feet in front of you." He said with a smile so wide it endangered to swallow them all. "More seriously, though, I seek to meld both worlds. I don't know what all this is about, but I do know that our worlds are tied together in this thing called a multiverse, and if one dies, the other one does too." He hoped that was the answer he was looking for. Billy wasn't a smart man, so his ability to word his thoughts were limited, and they hadn't improved much with the breaking of whatever it was that first tried to take his mind from him. Billy hadn't forgotten the magic that the man wielded, or his companions. He stirred up his own magics deep within him. The sun seemed to dim a little as he did so. Was that his imagination, or did it actually happen? Billy didn't know, what he did notice as his viens turned black against alabaster white skin, was that the world had gone from visions of swirling colour to black and white. No shades in between, just black and white. He noticed something else too, each one of them had an aura radiating from them. Since he couldn't see in colour, each one had a different level of brightness. He closed his mind to this new feature, and again, concentrated on the situation at hand. "You know, this won't stay hidden forever." At that, a scream came from inside the hotel. |

Thane suddenly felt himself plagued with an irrational dislike of the man before him. What sort of fool was he that thought this was a time for laughter and jokes. One of their companions had died in that building, and this man thought that he should make jokes against the seriousness of the conversation. Even as he claimed to be one who would fight for their side, to merge the worlds and save them all he drew forth his power as if to fight them. This one that had broken the mind of whatever lived within him, he claimed that he was their ally yet he seemed as if he wished to fight them, as if he wished conflict with Thane's friends. Inside his mind Thane felt the strange almost psychotic laughter of Sirl ringing throughout his mind and calmed suddenly. Laughter was not the problem here, as hard as it was he managed to get a grip on his emotions realizing that despite the loss that not every person they would meet would be an enemy. With a shake of his head he attempted to smile and found that it would not come. The grief was simply too close, he had witnessed the boy's death not more than an hour ago and he was preparing to leave the scene of the thing. Screams from inside the building warned that someone had discovered the scene. Worming his voice and the power of his comforting magic back into Alacrities mind he spoke to her their. It looks like we may have another ally, it is my belief and the belief of Sirl that he should travel with us as well for now. If that is indeed this man's true wish. As much as I don't want to rush away we need to leave. This is not a matter to involve the authorities in, even cloaked in power we simply sound crazy. At that Sirl's laughter jumped the gap to fill both their minds. Somehow the sound despite the hint of crazed mirth that accompanied it was a lightening one. As if the sheer force of Sirl's personality could change their moods. I hope you don't mind if he tags along for now? I feel that the more we have to fight with us the better chance we have to live through this. I don't want to die now that I know you, it would seem a terrible waste of such potential. Whatever their relationship was Thane didn't have time to think on it then. He would give his permission for this man to follow them, if he found out later when they were in a safer position that his companions did not like the idea they could leave the man or fight him, whichever it was that became necessary. " You may follow us for now, we have to get out of here and quickly. I don't have time to hang around and chat with you." With those words he allowed Sirl to separate back into the hidden section of his mind. With him there Thane's appearance reverted to as normal as he could make it and he headed for the truck. " James quickly, get ready as fast as you can. Hopefully we'll have time to stop and pick up our things, if we don't then we'll just have to leave them behind. Getting out of here is more important than anything else right now." |

The new man had an odd sense of humor, or maybe she just wasn't ready for humor after Aizel's death. Her inner mind began to keen again in pain just as Thane flooded back into her, soothing the edges of the hurt. She let herself fall into his thoughts, as comforting as being held. I agree, we need to leave, but I don't know that it is necessary to leave our belongings behind. I can get back to the car and have our things ready to throw in the truck by the time you get there. Even if we do get separated I believe El can locate you from quite a distance now. If you have to flee, I'll follow in the car until we have a chance to pull over and ditch the vehicle. All our cash and my ATM card are in the car, we are going to need them. With Thane's last thought her free hand rushed to his face, Potential be damned, I couldn't bear to be without you now. Our relationship is strange. It is more than anything I have ever known before. It is more than the two of us. She could hear El and Sirl with them as well. What would it be like when the were complete? This unusual union? She held on to his hand a moment longer, "I don't mind if he tags along for now either." She looked at the new member of their band, wondering what his thoughts really were. Did they match his words? Time would reveal all. She let go of Thane's hand and took off running back to the car, not changing her form until she got there. In moments she had everything of importance shoved in the oversized duffle bag. |
