“Aizel, wait!” James shouted as the youth dashed past him. Before he could react though, the orange being was upon him. James could do little except throw up his arms to guard his face. He expected his arms would be flayed open by the claws, and gritted his teeth. Instead, there was only a dull scraping of stone. And no pain even as he felt the claws scratch across his forearms. His forearms were no longer covered with skin, but with a dull grey stone. It was just as hard as regular stone, yet moved like his skin would. It faded back to regular skin at the elbows. His face had also changed, his two eyes were gone again, and replaced by one larger one in the middle of his forehead. “Excellent timin’ Gol,” James commented. He cracked his stony knuckles in one hand. “Alright, you ugly sonova- Come ‘ere!” James shouted, lunging at the orange being, and aiming a blow with a stony fist. |

Alacrity took off running after Thane, but afraid they would arrive too late she began letting El flow through her. Her pace picking up with the surge of power. Her skin getting colder, and bluer with each step seeped it's icy chill in a fog around her form. she could sense the fight had already begun, and panic set in. These possessors where more formidable than they looked. El seemed to be familiar with the species even before seeing them. They are crafty, cunning, and move quickly. The Ko'mari can blend into the background so you cannot see them. They can phase, when you reach for them they are not there. You must figure out where they are going to be, and strike where they have not yet arrived. Their flesh is weak, but catching them is difficult. Their attacks are vicious. If they release their poison Alacrity, walk into it. We can store it for later use. Her hand reached for the glass door of the hotel. It's frame crystallized as if deepest winter had set hold of it. Her fully transformed body stood ready for action. Her head tilted back, and a blood chilling shriek escaped her lips. The ice glass of the door shattered behind her. Hopefully that got their attention... Edited by Oracle, Feb 19 2009, 01:54 PM.

Thane went racing through the building towards where he could sense his allies. With Sirl's power racing through him he called a javelin of power to one hand and a powerful revoke to the other. He could see the creatures as he spun around the corner. He could see his companions fighting but instantly he could tell he had not been fast enough. Aziel was fighting desperately but the poison from the creature seemed to be slowing his muscles. Despite the fact he managed to injure the creature before going down he was caught across the throat by a viciously swung claw. With his neck ripped from his body he slumped to the ground blood spilling out across the floor, sightless eyes staring up at the ecstasy locked creature that had taken his life. Fueled by the magic the creature's skin began to swell with the newly born scales rising from it's skin, the yellow creature screamed as the power filled it and turned it's blood stained body to face James. Anger welled up within Thane, he could see the image of the dying child within his mind. He could not allow himself to think about it, the time would come later but for now revenge was all that mattered. He closed off his mind to the thoughts, and in the process he also closed it off to Alacrity and El. The spinning javelin left his hand to hurtle towards the creature, flying through empty air as the creature phased away with it's newly awakened powers. The spear struck the ground behind it and detonated, a flash of Eldritch power blowing a hole in the ground. The yellow creature came for Thane after that spinning out of the air to strike at him, claws narrowly avoided even as it left a cloud of noxious yellow gas in it's wake. Calm and angry eyes watched the creature appear, as the regal nobility that was the fey within Thane hurled forth the Revoke towards the yellow creature even as it phased away from him. A dull boom echoed from his palm as the shockwave like revoke hurtled from his hand to dissipate the gas in the air and then dissipate itself. The creature itself stepped out of the air to watch Thane and Alacrity, blocking them from entering any farther into the room. Distracted by the ecstasy of it's ally the orange was caught unawares by the quickly thrown punch. Slammed across the face it fell limply to the ground, just barely breathing. Even as it went down the green used the man's distraction to leap from the ceiling towards him. Belching a stream of acid towards the man even as it fell towards him. |

Even as James heard the crack of bones even as his stone fist connected, he saw the yellow being strike at Aizel. James shouted a warning, but he could do nothing as the yellow one slashed him across the throat. Time seemed to slow for James as Aizel collapsed, with that yellow thing standing over his body triumphantly. He had only known the young boy for not even a day, but his senseless death wrenched at him. Even as he watched, he saw another strange being confront the yellow beast. However, James grief was suddenly interrupted by a burning pain. The green beast’s acid struck him in the shoulder, and dissolved through his thick jacket. Fortunately, the tough leather absorbed the brunt of the attack, and neutralized most of the acid before it reached his skin. Still, the sudden pain shocked him out of his stunned silence. A sudden change came over James. His grief vanished for the moment, replaced by something else. His vision narrowed, focusing on the three beasts. Adrenaline pumped in his blood, blunting the pain in his shoulder. His teeth gritted, and his fists clenched. His brow furrowed, and his heart pounded in his chest. He looked up at the green one falling towards him. James crouched for a split second. With a bellow, he leapt up, thrusting up both arms, intending to smash the green beast’s ribcage in as it dropped toward him. |

Alacrity's mind went numb, as the young Aizel fell to the foul creature. She was just to slow to stop them. Stepping through the yellow fog that had been emitted, breathing in as much of it as she could, she followed El's lead. This was not going to be as easy as the rest of their kills. This was beyond her skill. El knew these creatures, and she gave up control of her body to him. She was watching as if it was an out of body experience. The fight seemed to slow down, but it was just her perceptions. El was actually moving her that much faster. As the yellow moved El didn't shoot the ice shards at him, but a distance in front of him. One ice shaft managed to pierce the yellows abdomen, while the other shattered against the wall. In the split second it was stunned by the injury El lurched forward and let loose a volley of nitrogen. |

The blow heading towards the green was extremely powerful, but the creatures were fast. Without the power to manage it's phasing abilities all the green could do was tumble over the reaching fists. While weakening the blow it forced the creature to take part of the attack. It hit the ground and turned with inhuman speed, turning with a wincing growl of pain to spit a volley of acid towards James. With the acid in the air it turned on it's heels and leaped for the wall, the pain causing it to land awkwardly just barely clinging to the wall. Injured the yellow was simply made angrier phasing away from the knowledgeable elf driven being. Yellow gas poured from it's maw as it fled, and the long claws on it's hands seemed to lengthen with it's rage. In it's haste it brought itself closer to an angry Thane, and strangely an angry Sirl. Sirl did not usually seem to be affected by much, more than once Thane had suspected him to be crazy in more ways then one. Yet now Sirl was livid with anger, and the crackle of the aura around Thane was obvious. The angry Thane hurled a revoke from his hand, the cacophonous burst ripping through the air even as Sirl chanted within his mind. It was almost like a song, but somehow Sirl let him know it was a Lord spell. It left his lips with a strange ringing, it didn't sound the same from him as it did from Sirl in his mind, and suddenly he was worried that it wouldn't work. Everything was moving slower, it was as if through the ripples of the revoke time was slowed to his vision. The flying liquid nitrogen seemed to be moving towards the creature, but it was already in the process of phasing away, the attack would never make it on time. His strange song continued, but in reality it was more like words strung together so quickly as to be a whistle of sudden sound. To him it sounded like a beautiful melody, it warmed his soul even as it burned the air before his lips. The song came to an end and arcs of light poured from his lips, from his fangs towards the creature. Through slowed time he saw them strike even as the nitrogen did. Somehow the arcs of power pulled it back from it's phasing arresting the magic and pulling it towards him, it bound the yellow being even as the nitrogen struck and killed it. Piercing it with the rays of light and holding it as the last of the creatures life seeped towards himself and his companion. He could feel the magic even as he could feel time returning, he was powerful, his companion was powerful. With that he realized he was once again in connection with Alacrity, that he could feel her mind and all he found was El. |

James barked a laugh as he saw his blow connect with the green creature. Though instead of its chest being caved in, it managed to twist partially out of the way. James snarled, it was still in the fight. He threw up his hands and dived to the ground even as the creature sun quickly and fired another stream of acid at him. The stream splashed against his arms, burning through his jacket but not harming his the stony covering over his forearms. As he landed, he reached out for something to shield himself from the burning acids. His hand fell onto the orange creature he had struck before. His hand closed around it’s throat, preventing it from breathing anything at him. Or breathing anything at all. Using his already formidable strength, supplemented by Gol’s influence, James hauled the orange creature into the acid’s path. The orange creature writhed as the acid burned into its back. Using the orange creature as a shield, James got to his feet, and saw the green one clinging to the wall. “You murderers!” James shouted enraged, glaring at the green beast. “You damned murderers! I’ll kill you for this!” His grip tightened around the orange thing’s throat, and he felt something crack and collapse within his hand. Gripping the body with both hands, he lifted the body up and heaved it at the green thing clinging to the wall. Given it’s agility, it would probably dodge, but it would serve for a distraction. James charged after the thrown body, is fists raised to pound it the moment it leapt away again. |

She watched from behind El's eyes as Thane spoke the spell, holding the yellow creature in place. As its death magic was released El turned, feeling Thane's presence. He smiled and nodded. She is with us, she is always with us. We are...together. We are...One As the magic rolled though her, she could feel how close the merging was. Her thoughts broke through to Thane We are almost there Thane. There was a tinge of ecstasy in her voice, then her mind was diverted by a flash of blue and orange. With barely a thought and a flick of her hand, a spear of ice ran instantly, from her wrist all the way into the wall. The blue creature hung there suspended until Alacrity let it fall lifeless to the floor. She turned to their new companion, "James you need to absorb their magic. It will help your symbiont to grow stronger. It is how we will win. For now, it will help you heal." She urged him from the hall, trying to avoid the place where Aizel fell. Placing James' hand to the fallen creatures chest she didn't let go till the magic started flowing into him. She took none herself, though she was craving it at the moment. As she stood, great tears welled in her eyes, but she refused to look back at the fallen boy. He was just a kid. She knew there would be casualties along the way, she just hadn't expected it to hurt this bad. They didn't even know the boy. She wandered closer to Thane, looking up into his alien face. Then a sob shook her. Edited by Oracle, Feb 24 2009, 10:21 PM.

((Fortis you should know that when you killed the orange you acquired it's power as well, which would have healed and re-energized you, as well as made you stronger.)) With the magic flowing into him he felt stronger then ever, and his strange appearance was only further enhanced, by that point he looked as much like a member of the fey as he ever would. His appearance distorted through the awakened power of the haze surrounding him. Lines of violet and dark emerald ran across his flesh and seemed to flow with power. His hair was strangely colored, and in appearance it seemed to have a mind of it's own. His eyes were deep pools of color, copper and shimmering with his stare, a stare that held depth and power within it's oddity. Sharp fangs extended from his mouth easily concealed and hidden within his closed mouth. His entire appearance was exotically attractive, more so than he had ever been so far, and more so than he normally was. He seemed to radiate a sort of charisma through the haze that hovered around him. With an inhuman growl he kicked the yellow creatures frozen body and caused it to shatter. Sirl laughed inside his head, obviously pleased with the action and despite the perhaps insanity of the idea, Thane found the laugh more mournful than tears. At that moment with his mind so ingrained within Alacrity's, he could feel her pain as readily as he could feel his own. The young man had died for a cause he didn't even understand. Died for a quest for power, a quest for domination, a quest he also could not understand. His own hurt nearly brought him to tears, and the others hurt nearly caused him physical pain despite his lack of injuries. Yet he held back his own feeling and instead wrapped his arm around Alacrity. Standing there he comforted her both physically and mentally, sending soothing mental flows to accompany his arms around her. With a kiss to her forehead he watched the power flow into their newest companion. He knew the man would be troubled by this, yet Sirl's voice reminded him that they could not afford to lose him. " Do you see why we fight James? Why entities of either world must not be allowed to win. We cannot allow one land to dominate another, for if we do, the children of the other will die. Unity is the only chance, and it is the few lonely Wielders who must fight to see that end. I'd understand if you no longer wanted to travel with us, but we could use your help." With his words he turned back to Alacrity, the man would be given time to find the answer, and hopefully he was now strong enough to defend himself against attacks if he chose to leave them. |

Alacrity hardly noticed the physical changes overcoming them. All she saw were the images of their minds struggling with the grief. As soon as Thanes arm encircled her she fell against him her body wracked with heaving sobs, her mind a maelstrom of hostile thoughts toward the possessors lying dead at their feet. She didn't know how Thane could bear to look at her with the emotions surging through her. But not only did he look, he offered her a solace she had not thought him capable of. Her arms found comfort and purchase as she latched onto Thane, her only reality, his thoughts engulfing her. She too found some remote pleasure in Thane's action of shattering the yellow beast. It was then, when he realised his own sorrow, that his soothing spirit reached her. She allowed her mind and thoughts to swirl away in the comfort of his protective hold. With the gentle touch of his lips to her forehead her sobs dwindled into nothingness, and she surrendered to the bliss of their shared empathy. She could hear the rumble of his voice talking to James, but for now she was beyond hearing the words...just the essence penetrated. Alacrity railed against leaving the embrace, but El was urgently making it clear it was essential for them to flee. She let her grip on Thane go, her hands trailing away from his back. As she wiped the shed tears from her face they froze, falling with a light note of finality as they hit the floor. Her mind flowed around his with thoughts of gratitude. Briefly a horrifying image of Thane lying there, instead of Aizel flashed. She slammed it away, knowing even the thought would bring her to her knees. The reality of it would destroy her. Though El tried to comfort her, she felt his emotions, it would distress him to loose Sirl-Thane too. Her thoughts finally returned to the situation at hand. "We should go before the authorities show up." |
