Thane was surprised by the feeling when she reacted to the touch of his mind. The link strengthened and while there was no physical contact it seemed like their minds, perhaps their magics seemed to spin together. The sensation was not unpleasant, if Thane had not been so surprised by the emotion of the sensation it might have been pleasant. As it was he wasn't sure what it was, only that it sent a shiver down his spine and his gut began to twist. With the odd sensation in his mind and in his being he listened for a reply from his companion. She reacted physically as well, leaning towards him and turning to face him, obviously she did not expect a voice other than El's or her own to awaken within her mind. The humor that passed through the link quelled the fear that he might have done something she though ill-advised.

Her next words sent a shiver down his spine and caused his face to heat. Her hand brushed his momentarily and he found the heat spreading outward from there. As food arrived the link shattered, bursting apart with enough noticeable force to show that he had sprung back quickly. The shimmer in the air clustered more tightly around him then it did before, no longer encompassing Alacrity within it. He was ashamed that he had reacted that way and so completely confused that he didn't know what to do. Allowing his strange reaction to fade into eating he hoped desperately that his face would cool. Despite the cool air radiating from his companion the space he occupied felt uncomfortably hot. Running a hand through his hair he leaned back and smiled at both of the others at his table.
Still ashamed of his reaction he let his surprised fear to fade. His suddenly tightened awareness spread outward again, and Alacrity was once again within it. He was sure he could see it more easily than others, the shimmer to the air was obvious for him. However if it was so obvious to others they would certainly hear comments about it.

As for his appearance, he couldn't imagine himself being better looking than anyone. Most certainly not Alacrity, appearance wasn't something he often thought about. Not his own appearance anyway.
" I think you're right Alacrity, if he saw what I'd looked like with Sirl's power raging through me he'd probably have fled. Of course with his own companion to advise him in his head he might very well have been able to control himself."

James looked at the two of them, one of his eyebrows arched. The sudden changes that came over Thane disturbed him. Frowning slightly, he ran a hand through his beard as he considered all that Thane and Alacrity had told him. He glanced thought the diner again and noticed an uncomfortable number of eyes turned in their direction.

“You two have given me a lot to think about,” James said after a moment, after the waiter had left again. He talked softly, so it would be difficult for others to overhear. “I know I just met you, but take a word of advice. Try and keep a lid your power. You don’t need to prove it to me or anythin’, and enough people are watchin’ as is. If there is a battle, then we don’t want the whole neighborhood talkin’ about those three nutcases in the diner. No sense in advertisin’ our ten-twenty.”

“Anyway, don’t worry about the danger, I’ve been in fights before. Plus I’m doin’ this on my own. Golion offered to leave and find someone else, but after hearin’ about what’s happenin’, I decided I’d do what I can. I’m in between hauls anyway. And you don’t need to worry about scarin’ me off, either. After that eye trick Golion pulled on me, well, it’ll take quite a bit to top that.”

“I do have a couple of questions, though. First off, you talked about the symbionts that force themselves on the human half, and the other way around. The symbiont dominant ones…” James paused a moment, as if listening to something, “These possessors, is there any way to get them to release the person? And would there be anythin’ left besides a vegetable? If we could do that, the guy could probably tell us a lot about what we need to know and what these possessors plan to do to earth.”

((There isn't actually any noticeable heat. His skin is hot, he feels hot, he isn't actually radiating heat. It's not within his powers to do so.))

Snow fell around him in gentle waves. It swirled with intricacy, designs forged in the imaginative mind as it danced with the ebb and flow of the wind, pushed aside until it dissapeared into an ocean of snowflakes.
With only a jacket to protect his bare skin from the raw beating of winter air, Aizel moved with the wind, trusting it to guide him safely through a relentless--and quite unpredicted--storm.
"It's always me who's the lucky one isn't it?"
"Don't be so hard on yourself. This was not something that we saw ahead of time."
The male laughed hollowly at his subconcious "guest's" reply. Frigid air seeped into his mouth, trickling like vine tendrils down his throat and temporarily giving Aizel the panic of unfortunate muteness.
"Imagine that...freezing my voicebox shut."

What had been truly eerie about the town though, was the signifigant lack of population. Perhaps the storm was more than they expected, though utterly all seemed desolate.
The concept of death in a town such as this terrified Aizel.
"Now don't you think like that. Keep a sharp eye out for light. Where there's light, people are sure to gather. And from there we can survey our surroundings."
Aizel said nothing. There was no arguing fact.

The pressure of nature's force became increasingly ruthless as he pressed on. Once shivering, Aizel quickly became numb to the atmousphere to the extent that his nerves no longer subdued him to the wretched cold.
There was feeling, but no discomfort. Aizel felt as if slowly, his soul was coming loose, until he could just see it hanging over him. Several times, he wondered if a dying man felt such as this.
With a glazed look in his heterochromic eyes, Aizel spotted a light, and all at once the world came back to him. Staggering similar to one who cought a heavy object tossed around, he once again felt the cold, the tempurature. He was once again concious and reality settled around him piece by piece in a jigsaw puzzle.
It was a restaurant. Just the thought of food got his stomach growling louder than the moaning winds, and without a second thought, Aizel stepped inside, brushing snow off his jacket and clothes.

She felt his sudden withdrawal, and regretted the loss of warmth that had grown around her while he was there. Hoping she hadn't offended him, she smiled tentatively. She was as shocked by her response as he seemed to be. It seemed her body had grown too cold to blush, but she was discomfited none the less. She wanted the warmth back, and was afraid she had scared him as bad as that first day when she had ruffled his hair.

Before she began eating, she turned to James, "Sorry about that. It seems we just discovered a new ability. It will take some time getting use to it." As she ate she felt the warmth slowly envelope her again. A relief of sorts eased through her. The last thing she wanted was to scare him away.

"I think you're right Alacrity, if he saw what I'd looked like with Sirl's power raging through me he'd probably have fled."

She said nothing out loud, merely smiled at him. Not sure if he would hear... You are actually very stunning Thane, and not at all unattractive in either form. She winked and quirked her lip up on one side. Then continued eating, and listening to James.

"I don't know if they would release their host, but not all possessors are against the merging of the two worlds. This is something we need to find out before we attack. We just recently had to destroy one that Sirl knew. I think he is still grieving a bit."
Again she was tempted to reach out to Thane, but suppressed the urge. She didn't want him withdrawing again. She could easily get used to his warmth.

Without warning her attention was ripped from Thane's thoughts, and centered on the entrance to the diner. This time she did grab hold of Thane, there was another one. But her grip relaxed as she sensed he too was a Wielder. For the first time she felt they might have a chance of surviving. Finally they were finding others, or were the others finding them? Were they getting strong enough for the others to sense them and congregate?

At the same time of entry, a shiver crawled its way down Aizel's spine. Immideately, his body whirled to the table of wielders, whom each seemed to have the same reaction to his presence. For a moment there was only a silence. Despite the murmur of conversation by other patrons, unaffected by Aizel.
No, these ones were diffirent.
"They're like us."
The boy's mind echoed with the words of the entity Calice, a mental comfort. The focus of attention often unnerved Aizel, focused solely on him.
On Calice's request, Aizel shyly made his way to the table of onlookers. With great difficulty, his heterochromic eyes stared upward at them, a glare reflected off the light of his thick rimmed glasses.
"U-um...h-hello." He spoke, voice so timid it was hardly heard even from nearby. "Y-you three are like me...r-right?"

He choked down the butterflies running rampant in his nerves and nibbled away at the soft flesh of his lower lip, sharp canine incisors threatening to shred the weak skin.

Thane smiled to himself at the conversation, to them it was so very mundane. But to a newcomer to the strange world they were living in, or to one of the so called normal people they would seem insane. They'd gotten use to the strange things they could do, Thane even found himself accustomed to the desire to slay beings of magic. When the adrenaline started pumping magic made targets out of many an individual.
The sensation of being connected to another mind was a pleasant one. Her words kept the small smile plastered on his face for a short time. Until the moment another presence brushed the edge of his senses. Another with the magic inside them, the connection, another being had entered the diner. It was quickly becoming a very popular hot spot, it looked like they would need a bigger car.

Disconnected from reality slightly he sent a warm smile to his companion as he turned to the newcomer. Like him he said, that was a stretch of sorts. Each of them was widely different from the others.
" I suppose you could say that yes, why don't you have a seat across from me." He glanced at the boys teeth, wincing a little at the thought of what he was doing to his own lip.
" It seems that perhaps you also are unaccustomed to being who and what your are. Since you have approached us I hope you intend to be a friend to our cause?"
"I mourn that which may have been but will never be."

James turned to look at the young man. He was uncertain and hesitant, James thought. And more than a little afrain. James, or rather Golion, could tell he wasn’t alone, but not in the usual sense. There was a presence about him. One that felt vaguely familiar. One that felt like his own. There was one of those Symbionts with him.

“Is he…?” James began softly.

He is. He’s a welder, I think Golion replied. James nodded, then looked at the young man again. This was good, as Golion had made it pretty clear that they were the underdog in this fight. And it seemed that he wasn’t the greenest one to this weilder stuff anymore either. If just by a few days.

“If you mean havin’ a freeloader in your head, then yeah. We’re like you.” James said, grinning. He moved over to make room for the boy. “Name’s James. James Greenson. You eaten? Order yourself a meal on me, and a drink if you’re old enough. They’ve got good stuff on tap. So what’s your name?”

Surprised, but rather reassured by the warm welcome, Aizel scooted into the space the two men had made for him and stared at the rows of faces. The three of them were considerably much older than he, some by what seemed at least two decades. The seventeen year old suddenly felt very young...compared to the orphanage, where he was at least five years their superior.
His arms latched themselves tightly onto the plush cat in his lap, at the moment not concerning himself with what the strangers would think of his unorthodox tactics.
Brushing back a loose strand of crimson tainted hair, Aizel timidly stroked the top of the stuffed animal's head, lovingly watching the toy as if it was genuine.
"You can't keep your silence forever. There are things you need to ask these people."

Calice's words, despite how they struck the chord of inability to speak out, were the only alternative to the many questions swimming around his mind. What were these entities exactly? Why were they so bent on destruction?
Oh God...what if the ones surrounding him were like them?
The more he thought of it, the more his body panicked, until Aizel was a tiny, trembling frame between the pillars of confused strangers that no doubt must have met as recently as he.
"They are like us Aizel. Don't worry. They won't do anything. No doubt, their cause is much like our own."

Relieved, the introvert once again picked up his head and opened his mouth to speak.
"I am interested in your cause...I-I want to do my best to bring about peace."
Wording himself carefully, Aizel shifted uncomfortably in the seat. Taking himself up on James's offer, the male set his protesting stomach at ease with an order of pizza.
"O-oh, right. I almost forgot. My name is Aizel. Aizel Hendrix Whisper. B-but just Aizel's fine."
