Leaving one of her knives behind the possessor crashed to the ground with a triumphant grin. Starting to turn she felt sudden resistance that struck fear into her heart. Not much fear but still fear, she could move her legs but her agility would be restricted. Suddenly becoming aware of the ice she began to feel the pain of it. Her flesh would never be the same again, and she didn't know how it could be repaired. Moving so she was in a safer position she drew another of her daggers to replace the one that she had lost in her opponent. A grimace of pain and hatred marred her beauty. The exotic charm replaced with a more exotic type of hideousness. She could not leap but she could however make her last desperate move. One of her powers remained to be used. A flick of her wrist sent the first knife flying, another the second. Four more knives hit the air before the others had even began to move towards their mark. Suddenly more knives began to spread from the other, the more of her energy she could focus the more knives she could create. Suddenly as she began to spread her energy to the new knives she felt a hand upon her leg. She felt the heavy pull of a Lord's strength that dropped her to the ground. With the ice restricting her movements she could not stand, her expansion of knives lost with her concentration. Thane watched what was happening, he watched the battle with fear. His companion could die, and without Sirl he could die. Suddenly he realized something, he had all of Sirl's powers, without Sirl's understanding of them. Staggering to his knees he lunged for the woman's feet. Even as the daggers began to spin out of the air. Somehow they stopped, he didn't understand her powers any more than he did his own but he did understand how to move. Pulling her to the ground he lifted one of his weapons to attack. Only to be kicked away. |

She was in a crouch waiting for the woman's next move. She knew she had hit her chest dead on, but it hadn't done near the damage she had expected. She was prepared for a physical assault, and when the blades started shooting at her, for a split second she panicked. Following El's lead she flung herself into the air at the last moment, avoiding most of the knives. They had been aimed at her crouched position, and only two had managed to pierce the smaller target of her legs. Another blade had grazed her calf. The pain was searing, but it could have been much worse. Both blades had sunk several inches into her left thigh. She didn't have time to rejoice, but Thane had stirred enough to tussle with her, gaining Alacrity the precious seconds she needed. Yanking the blades out she tossed them aside, and sucked in her breath as the wounds oozed a bloody blue liquid. These would take longer to seal. It was a minor injury, and she forced herself to stand on her throbbing leg. Before the possessor could regain her feet, Alacrity began launching ice daggers at her. The glittering frozen shards flew toward her in a pummeling barrage, designed to keep her pinned to the ground. If Alacrity could just get close enough, she could freeze her frigging head off. |

As his companion continued the fight with the strange woman who had so disturbed Sirl, Thane was forced to throw himself back away from the fight. The throwing weapons made it too dangerous for him to close ranks with his opponent. However he had ranged abilities as well, he wasn't anymore useless at range than he was in melee. Drawing on the power that flickered around him he placed into the palm of one hand a revoke. Still on the ground Thane allowed it there for a moment before striking out with it. She was hardy as all the magically infused seem to be. The revoke struck her side at sent her spinning on the ice that encased her torso closer to his ally. However it also moved her out of the zone through which the ice daggers had been flying. The few that had made it to her before his attack had been deflected with stunning precision. ------ As she fought viciously the possessor found herself suddenly under attack from both sides. Moments before one of her opponents had been subdued by the whip, now she was forced to fight two inferior opponents. Consumed with the defense against the flying daggers she missed the Lord drawing his power. She didn't miss the Revoke when it struck her however, or it didn't miss her. Powerful force slammed into her and sent her spinning towards the nearly uninjured opponent with the power of ice. She had a chance here, if she could kill this one the power she would gain would allow her to kill the other for sure. With sudden speed and the last bit of her strength she managed to get her feet underneath her. She lifted herself up and towards Alacrity with powerful grace. Her last tactic became clear when the knives appeared in her hands. She would fight with desperation in her last moments if these were to be them. --- Even as she rose Thane tightened his powers into the shimmering spear that he hoped to taker her life with. He could feel in his blood the power boiling and seething. Always before Sirl had been like a buffer to the magic, the translation that gave him the ability to fight. Now on his own everything seemed strange and unclear. He felt like a novice, but he knew he had done these things before. Even as his opponent leaped he hurled his weapon. With any luck Alacrity would move or find a way to defend herself. The spear of Eldritch would cut through his opponent with outstanding speed if nothing was there to stop it. He didn't know what else to do, if he did nothing he was surely dead. With that spear he may have doomed his companion to sudden death. Pulling in the power around him he attempted to touch the spear with it. Perhaps he could unravel it just as it made the kill. ((This should work out fine if you can get what I think you should do. There's a plan in there somewhere.)) |

She wasn't as nearly bad off as she could have been, but she could tell the possessor was getting desperate. That meant she was dangerous and a lot less predictable. Thane had been able to hit her with one of his revokes, and she skid toward Alacrity. As the creature got to her feet, Alacrity could barely see Thane around her, and only for a moment. But she knew that look, he was planning something. Something that would kill. If she could just keep her occupied, and her concentration away from Thane...without warning the creature was lunging at her. Alacrity threw nitrogen at her again, while diving to the side. She skid to a stop against the pavement, as Thane's Eldritch shot through the beasts chest and impacted the nitrogen. Her flesh exploded, and she fell to the ground with a thump. Alacrity was unprepared for the jolt of power shooting out from the wound. It was so strong it was almost painful, but still bliss. Her wounds sealed shut, as an icy fog seeped from her pores. She didn't realise it but she was shrieking, as the power continued to pour into her. She wanted to check on Thane, but was frozen solid in thrall. Edited by Oracle, Jan 12 2009, 09:28 PM.

As his spear met the creature's the perfection of her tactic clicked in his mind. An explosion of ice and Eldritch took the last remnants of life from Sirl's strange acquaintance. Suddenly the paths his own spear had taken was being traced by magic he could feel but not see. It coursed through the air in an invisible spiral to meet with his body without halting. It filled him suddenly, the strange new power so very like that which already resided within him, and yet so different. He could feel the process that was it's conversion from one power to another. The magic pulled Sirl from the corner in which his awareness had sought to hide. Wrapping him in the ecstasy that left Thane on his knees, and bonding them together with it. Suddenly he could feel the strange haze like cloak of power around him gaining more strength. He was brimming with it, he could not contain it all. Then he simply could, the ecstasy remained by way of fleeting power within him. He existed with the wisps of power in him, and Sirl's mind closer to his then ever before. They were closer to being one then ever, and merged as they were he was nearly the perfection that he believed the strange entity to be. More of the Fey's regal grace flowed into him, a charisma unexplainable by anything other than the barely perceived aura floating around him. With his awareness spread around him he could feel where foes would be if they were near. None such existed and speaking quietly with Sirl of his actions he released the powerful hold that linked them together. Allowing his more human like appearance to settle in again. He lost some of his strange nature, but was left with the strange charisma, and the twinkling hint of power in the air around him. Staggering to his feet as whole as ever before he smiled grimly. Shaking his head to clear the last strands of ecstasy that clouded his mind. " That one was stronger than any of the others before her. Somehow Sirl knew her, but we are not close enough that I know how he did." He let the silence hang after that, feeling his body for the new power and the life that seemed to have come with it. As her shriek faded away, she slowly became aware of her surroundings. The icy cold feel of the blood pumping through her veins produce a sense of raw power at her disposal. Her breath escaped her lungs in loud frozen blasts, like the sound of an old steam engine. Her form was close to complete but still not quite close enough. The need for El as driving her to distraction, but not enough that her thoughts left Thane. She was relieved to see him getting up, she wasn't sure what had happened to him. " That one was stronger than any of the others before her. Somehow Sirl knew her, but we are not close enough that I know how he did." "We should leave here. As much as I want more, El is encouraging me to rest. I think you need time to let Sirl heal. If he withdrew as he did, I get the sense from El that he is probably in pain. But that is just Els opinion, he isn't certain of anything. How do you feel? Can you drive?" she chuckled, "without hitting anything?" She slapped his shoulder lightly to let him know she was jesting. "Or do I look too hideous to travel with anymore?" She tried to smile but her cheeks felt oddly different. With her hands she traced the line of her jaw which had become thinner and longer. Her hair had receded from above her ears, to a wide white horse like mane across the top of her skull to her neck. "O please, get me to a mirror. I have got to see this." Her laughter echoed against the buildings as she headed for the car. Did she dare tell him what a magnificent creature 'he' was becoming? Stepping towards the car he flashed her a smile. Things were becoming more dangerous as the days passed, perhaps even as the hours passed. He was quickly growing weary of the constant fighting between the battles, in the battles however he needed that constant rush of adrenaline. It was something he had come to understand about himself, he enjoyed the fighting the rush of his powers against those of his opponents. Finally sinking into the car he fired up the engine and continued to grin at his companion. It would probably be best if she dropped her more exotic appearance for the more normal one that could be managed. " As lovely as you are with the power surging through you. It would probably be for the best of you allowed your slightly more acceptable appearance to sink it. It seems that perhaps it is time for us to rest for a while, I'm still injured and our allies weary, and I doubt that a hotel manager will appreciate the nitrogen turning the hotel to ice." Waiting for her to enter the car alongside him he pulled quickly out onto the street, and began driving hoping to stumble upon a hotel as quickly as possible. From the short conversation he had with Sirl earlier even the sudden surge of power from the kills wasn't enough to fully recharge him, and with the merge it would sink into Thane as well. They could still partially separate to accommodate for the need to pass as full humans, but Sirl wasn't sure how long that would last. " Sirl knew the creature we just fought, there was some kind of distant relationship there, somehow or another they were family. He doesn't know how to explain it to me any clearer than that. It seems that he didn't have the hear to kill one of his own kind. It weakened me for a while, but he has rejoined me more fully now." |

[My char will be moving around for a while until he manages to get a firm pinpoint on your position and then comes after the both of you. Btw, will there be any other NPCs that I might do battle with before facing your wrath? Ah. Before I forget, the "soul"-thing is just something as referred to by Amon, so no need to bother about it.] Haunted eyes gleamed in their hollows as if by their own light. The swishing of the dusty coat and the dull slapping of boots on the pavement was amplified by the eerie silence that surrounded him. Amon, as specter-like and surreal-looking as he was, still needed shelter and food. The dull thrum of a lone car passing by did little to ignite his interest until the overpowering sensation of nausea hit him. Finally. It has been long since my soul has been fed. Amon straightened up. But he did not give chase. It was possible that he might catch up to the speeding pair, but he would be exhausted and the outcome of the battle would certainly be undesirable to him. Besides, the duo was immensely powerful, radiating off their powers as a candle would radiate heat. "Yes, yes. Seek not battle lest victory is ascertained. No. Coward, I am not. Bah! Better be a live coward than a dead fool, no?" He stared out at the passing car until it vanished from his sight. The image of the car and its passengers are now seared into his memory. He would have no trouble finding them again should he need feed his soul's voracious appetite. Though the roar of the car was long gone, the putrid smell of the other-worlders still lingered in his nasal cavities. "Scums." He spat out the word as if it might clear the stench in his nose. It did not. And Amon fell back into one of his foul tempers, his burning hate bubbling and seething just below the surface of his ghostly facade. The oaken walking creaked protestingly as he spent his fury on it, his fingers wringing the thick wood as if wringing the life out from the accursed other-worlders. It took him another hour before he finally moved off from his spot to find some shelter, disappearing into the shadows like a ghost. |

((There are in fact npcs, most people generate their own. I'll allow you to do so, if you like I will generate them. The major downside to that is victory for you will not be quite as assured that way.)) |

He was right of course, she should let it go. But it felt so close, her body was surging toward it. She and El both striving to merge. With one last exhale that frosted the windows, she let it go. Slowly it began to fade, and the loss made her want to rail in frustration. She had never felt so powerful, she almost forced Thane to the side of the road as they passed a breaker. Just one more, she thought, but he was weary from the injury so she let it go. They would get him some other day, they would get them all. She looked almost normal when they arrived at the hotel. She ran in this time and made arrangements. "Come on lets get you lying down." Helping him out of the car, and the few feet to the room, she plopped him down on one of the rooms twin beds. It smelled of stale cigarettes in the room, so she opened the window and cranked up the heater. Why did they allow smoking in the rooms? She held onto his boots, "Go on, pull your feet out. I can't do it by myself." She looked at him for a moment, "I'm going to get our stuff. You, my friend, need to rest." She returned a few minutes later with everything she thought they might need from the car. "I'm going to the diner across the street, and see what I can get for us to eat. Is there anything you have a hankering for? I could really go for a chicken fried steak and gravy, with a heap of mashed potatoes. The real kind, not the mixed up stuff from a bag?" |
