ooc. Oh, jeez. I feel...Horrible. ;o;
Tesy, I am completely and utterly sorry for having taken so long. I could rattle off my list of excuses for not having replied in two weeks, but...It's been way too long. I have no excuse. x_x A reply will be coming up soon or I will promptly proceed to stab myself in the face.
Done, thank God.
Unless the computer bursts into flames, I swear I won't make you ever wait two weeks again. I'm sooo sorry, Tesy. D:
I owe you big-time.

----

He couldn't help smirking a little when he heard soft footfalls following him. So she was coming with him. That much more time to try and pick at her. He really did love figuring people out. Most were just bland, empty shells, and he rarely bothered. However, when he came across someone he genuinely wanted to know about, and that was actually a mystery to him, he could become impatient. He tried getting as much time with them as he could just so he could talk to them a little more, get a bit more trust, and maybe figure out a tiny bit more about them.

When he found what he was looking for, or just plain found something, he drowned himself in pride inside. Especially when it was difficult to get it. It never really had been, but he had never met many people that he had been even a tad interested in, so the line of what was challenging and what was not had never really been drawn. Edmund just revelled in figuring people out.

"So where are we going?"

He frowned at this, but fixed his expression before he got to his car and turned to her. However, he hesitated a moment in answering, still nervous about the place despite his reassurances to himself. Right when he finally opened his mouth to give her his reply, a shrill ringing went off, his eyes widening a bit. That had been unexpected. Stifling a sigh and holding his air in his lungs instead (since he didn't technically have to breath), his head shook in the smallest of movements.

"Ee!"

Don't laugh at the poor girl. It scared her more than you.

"I'm sorry - do you mind?"

Shaking his head enough that it could actually be seen this time, his eyes trailed away from her and he opened the car door, but he looked back to her and put off getting in when he heard French. She spoke French? His eyebrow lifted on a small whim of amusement, and he sat in his seat, leaving his legs out of the door and watching her through the window of the car. Not many people around here knew French, as far as he'd seen...

"C'est moi, asshole."

Alright, no one could have held back the small chuckle that escaped his lips. With that sudden change of tone? He noticed that her heart slowed a little, as her anger must have steered her away from thoughts of whatever it was that was irking her. He wasn't complaining. One less thing it could have been.

Idly he tuned in to the rest of the conversation, hearing both ends and letting out a snicker when he heard of Miley Cyrus. Fun.

"Fifth and Wood Street."

That was troublesome. Whoever she was talking to wanted her to go to where they were headed, too. Even more fun. In pondering why even more people were requested to be there, he almost missed the beat her heart had decided to skip. His eyebrows perked in curiosity at this new "development", and then his forehead wrinkled a little when he furrowed his brow. Why would her heart skip a beat when that place was mentioned?

She was straining her voice now, too. Not in a way that implied it was hard for her to talk, just that she was having trouble with keeping it from cracking again. So the mention of those streets triggered her anxiety...Interesting, to say the least...But why?

"So who was that?"

It sounded like someone she knew at least marginally well. The somewhat playful banter suggested that much. Unfortunately, though, he couldn't identify people's relationships with each other just by hearing their voice. But he had to admit, that would be pretty kick ass. Not worth giving up what he was capable of doing, though.

"Sorry about that. So, where are we headed to again?"

His head turned away from her before she could see his look of confusion and somewhat frustrated thinking. He lifted his feet into the car and leaned over to the other side to unlock the passenger door, contemplating his train of thought a few more moments before answering and pulling his door shut.

"Fifth and Wood."

ooc|DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. school has been screwing me over and I have developed case of laryngitis, so I've been preoccupied with sleeping. And skipping hockey. 8D

"So who was that?" he asked with idle curiosity; a look of annoyance flashed across her face. It was quickly replaced with a wrinkled nose in distaste before she finally answered. When she did, her previous unease gave way to that special kind of long-standing, long-enduring irritation that only her sole sibling could instigate.

"My younger brother." He'd stayed at her apartment that night because her parents had spent the weekend in New York - and didn't trust him enough to stay at home alone - and he had apparently taken the opportunity to make every effort to annoy her before he left for school that morning. Well, it could've been worse, she mused as she waited patiently for Edmund to open the passenger door before opening it and sliding in.

She was reaching to shut the door when he answered her question.

"Fifth and Wood."

The door shut with more force than she'd originally intended, punctuated by a slightly panicked, "What?!"

Coincidence? I think not… The story they were assigned to cover definitely had something to do with the nightmare, which made it not a nightmare - because last time she checked, nightmares didn't manifest themselves in real life. And if wasn't a nightmare, than it meant she had witnessed one of the more sadistic murders in anyone psycho's career.

That wasn't exactly something that sat well with her.

"You're not serious, are you?" she asked anxiously, hoping against odds that he had just happened to overhear her conversation (somehow) and decided to joke with her, not realizing just how terribly that place affected her.

ooc. Ahaha that last ooc of mine was LIES. ;^; Sorry. Just...Sorry. So, so sorry. brb crying myself to sleep.

----

He winced when the car door shut, then looked over at her. He felt a bit confused, what with the loud noises and all. That shit hurt his ears. He shook his head a bit vigorously a few times, his eyes shut.

"What?!"

So something was wrong with Fifth and Wood. He scrunched his nose, sighing.

"..What what?"

"You're not serious, are you?"

"Um...I'm afraid so. Why?" Wait. She had sounded like she was joking. Even though her heart was racing again. He paused a moment as he realized this, then his voice steadily and slowly rose levels as he added on, "Do you have a problem with Fifth and Wood Street? What did they ever do to you? Go to your hometown and rape and pillage your women and children? Eat your fetus dumplings?"

..Okay, that went a bit too far...Oops. he frowned internally, but outside he was giving her a smirk. Half-hearted, maybe. But a smirk.

"Yeah, something like that," Izzy muttered darkly, her mind replaying the gory, bloody scene she'd stumbled upon accidentally. "Actually- let's go with Fifth and Wood Street stole my sanity. Just swooped in while I wasn't paying attention and robbed me of it."

The joke was half-hearted at best- she was too busy inwardly freaking out to really put effort into making the very thin, very breakable veneer of normality appear stronger.
