"Machete" Roberta Hacke
|
A character from 'Evolution in Leaps and Bounds' on the DC forums. She was one of the only bad guys for quite a while... which was sad. Username: BarkingPup Name: Elise Mkellen Age: 24 Gender: Female Appearance: Short brown hair spiked with gel, she cuts it herself and thus it is not the... best haircut. She is five three with broad shoulders and an hourglass figure. She has a long nose, rounded chin, and rather pudgy cheeks. She is not in the best of shape but good enough to hunt down drifters. Her eyes are brown and she wears glasses. Race: Drifter Occupation: Author. Has published ten books and, while not well-known she has her little niche. Loyalty: Lupus Special Abilities: She has excellent eyesight and, if she wished, could see individual carpet fibers... And that's it :3 Personality: Elise discovered that she was different by accident and freaked out. She was born in a house full of racism (and is racist herself) and she insisted she was the same as everyone else. She denies her powers exist and believes it is her duty to kill others who are Drifters. She may not have the most stable mind but when she's not freaking out over Drifter's she is very pleasant to be around. She has a nominally quiet personality and never seeks to be the leader. She is fiercely protective over her ideals and refuses to change them. When she goes after something she is frighteningly single-minded, using everything and everyone to reach her goal. Anything Else?: Um.... nothing I can think of... AAAAAND her intro posts (all three of them! because no one else wanted to be different!): ((Post one)) Elise walked through the snow, feeling the slush cling to her boots and drag them down. The air was cool and crisp, the wind numbing her ears. Sometimes she wished she had long hair again, just to warm her poor frozen ears. but, nothing to be upset about. No, she had something she had every right to be upset about. The intelligence had been correct but the Drifter had not been there. The rattty little man who had trembled in the face of Kevin had given them the business of a Drifter, a simple pizza shop of some sort. it didn't even matter anymore considering it was rubble now. Elise grinned. With no sign of the Drifter inside and their anger needing an outlet, Kevin had given the group permission to trash it. Of course, Dalia had gone way out of hand and melted stuff but in the end the shop had been an utter mess. Too bad about the drifter, though. Elise sighed. It had been the third missed Drifter this week. She knew it wasn't the information because James swore he felt residue of their presence. So then what was it? How could she cleanse the world of the plague if she couldn't find the carriers of it? She paused in her walking and pressed a crosswalk button. Cars zoomed passed and she watched each one with suspicion. Was that one a black man, spouting his white hate? Was that one a muslim, carrying a bomb in his backseat? Was that one a Drifter, trying to poison society into thinking it was harmless? Well, maybe it was time to move on, find another group to join and hunt with. She would have to kill everyone, of course, she couldn't let the infection spread. It was really quite unfortunate she couldn't work alone but she couldn't hunt them down all by her lonesome. So she was forced to use the infection to seek and destroy other infections. Elise stepped onto the crosswalk, her coat blowing in the wind. Perhaps tomorrow she would go to the meeting. And bring punch. Special punch. ((Post Two)) Elise stood outside of an apartment building. She looked up to the fourth story and noted the flicking inside. Excellent. The sprinkler system would come on any second now and maybe someone would call the fire department but by then the evidence would be destroyed. Elise smiled and began walking away from the building, kicking up snow with her boots. It had been so easy. Creating a webpage that advertised cult status, creating online portfolios and discussions for each group member. And the inevitable mass suicide. Simple, simple simple. Elise loved the internet. She walked through the downtown streets, noting the whine of sirens and turned onto her own block. Her apartment wasn't the best one, but it was cheap and right now that was all that mattered. She slipped the key into the lock and entered, ignoring the cat that tried to trip her so she could get it food. Her roommate wasn't in. More than likely she had gone out to buy milk or something equally stupid. Elise threw the keys into the key bowl and hung up her coat. Ah, mail. She took a cheese string from the cupboard and chewed on it while flipping through the envelopes. Bill, bill, bill... visa, mastercard, some stupid penpal, junk, junk... hello? What's this? It was addressed to Janine but Elise was a master letter opener and she carefully slid the knife under the glue. With a soft stk it came free and she pulled it out. She read, her eyes widening with horror, then narrowing in hate. She finished and growled, carefully placing the letter on the table so the address wouldn't be lost. Janine was a Drifter all along and I never knew! I was living in a house of sin and talking to it and... She straightened. Desperate times call for desperate measures. She fed the meowing cat, vacuumed and tidied up the kitchen. She then set about to making dinner, cutting up potatoes and carrots. They couldn't afford meat this week but there was still some beef stock and pepper and salt spiced up any stew. While the food simmered on the stove she picked up the newspaper and read disinterestedly. There was a click at the door and the cat shot over to the aperture, meowing for more food already. Janine stepped through and reached down to pet the cat. "Hello, Mittens! Did you miss me, fluffy baby?" She glanced up and took off her coat. "Oh, hi, Elise. Back so soon? I thought your meetings usually lasted until seven." Elise shrugged. "Something came up and we broke early." "Was it a bad something?" "I dunno, Kevin never told me, whatever it was." Janine walked over to the pot, inspecting it's contents and smiling. "Well, did they enjoy your punch?" "I don't know, no one drank any. Kevin said he wanted to use it for later, though, so I left it. He said he'd bring back the bowl." "Well, at least someone recognizes a masterpiece when they see one. Thanks for making supper, by the way. I was afraid it would be another take-out meal." Elise wrinkled her nose in disgust. "Yech, you're welcome." Janine rolled her eyes, the fast food argument a common one in the apartment. She glanced down at Mitten's bowl, now empty. Elise glanced up from the paper. "I already fed him." Janine laughed and patted the tag-a-long animal. "You're such a pig, Mittens." The cat meowled, rubbing against her legs frantically. "Oh, I almost forgot." Elise pulled the letter from under the paper and showed it to Janine. "You got a letter." Janine's brow furrowed in confusion. "And you read it?" "I had to know if you had a secret admirer. I mean, can't be outdone by you, now can I?" "Tsk, when did you ever have a secret admirer?" "High School. Pimply boy named David." Janine chuckled and pulled the letter from Elise's grasp. Her eyes skimmed the words. She did a double take and read through more slowly. She looked up, panic in her eyes. "Um... and you're... o-okay with this?" "Okay with what?" Janine pointed to the letter. Elise shrugged. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Janine sighed in relief. "Oh.. I just thought-" "I mean, it's really a good thing you are one of them." Janine stared at her roommate. "Um... what? Why?" Elise pulled her illegal handgun from her coat pocket. She had bought it for a lot of money off this idiot who thought she was a gang member or something. He had sold her a holster for it, one of the arm ones she was sure, but Elise never used it. Having a holster practically screamed "I HAVE A GUN" so she kept the safety on at all times and merely placed it in her coat pocket. In such a long and bulky coat, it didn't show at all. Elise pointed it at Janine's forehead, her practice in the range helping a lot. "Because no one will miss you when you're gone." Janine gaped in horror, hardly believing someone whom she had shared an apartment with, cried over breakups, eaten pizza while laughing at corny movies... was pointing a gun at her. "H-hey... n-n-no need for that!" She frantically groped for the right words, the right sentence to stop the madness but her brain fell short and so she stuttered, backing up slowly. "You are a disease. And disease's must be contained and eliminated before they can spread." Without another word Elise pulled the trigger, the silencer making the gunshot a loud popping noise. Janine fell heavily, her forehead whacking the counter. Mittens meowed and licked her still fingers, asking for scritches. Elise put the safety back on and slid the gun into her pocket. She stepped over Janine's body and grabbed a bowl, filling it with stew before returning to her reading of the newspaper. Mittens jumped onto the counter, meowing, and tried to taste her soup but Elise pushed him away. Her newspaper read and belly full, Elise walked to the phone. She puled out a tiny address book from another pocket and flipped it open. Liam... she wanted Liam. She dialed the number, ignoring Mittens, who was licking her bowl and clearly enjoying himself. "Hello?" "Hey, Liam. This is Elise." "Oh, hey. How's Kevin?" "He was good the last time I saw him. Still having boyfriend trouble though." "Tsk, I told him to get out while he could." Elise snorted. "Yeah, as if he would ever listen." Liam laughed, "True, true. So... you usually don't phone for pleasantries. What's up?" "I have a dead body I need disposed of in my apartment and an interesting letter I think you all should see." "I'll send Trisha right over. Any hints for the letter?" "No." "Awwww, come on!" "You'll have to wait, just like everyone else." "You're no fun, Elise." "I know, bye, Liam." "Bye." She hung up and picked up Mittens off the counter. She flopped onto the couch and turned on the television, petting the ecstatic Mittens on her lap. now she had to wait for Trisha and then she would propose her plan of what to do with an entire mansion infected with Drifters. ((Post Three)) Elise looked up from the television when the doorbell rang. She pushed Mittens off her lap and opened the door a crack, cautious to keep Janine's body out of view. "Oh. My. God. Elise, have you got, like, uglier or something?" Elise rolled her eyes and opened the door fully. "MmmHmm, just do your job, Trisha" Trisha sighed and tottered into the apartment, wrinkling her pert nose at the mess and smell of stale cat litter. "Like, eeeew. How can you, like, live in this?" "Very easily." Trisha waved her hands widely, "Whatever. So, like, where's this dead body?" Elise pointed behind her and walked into the bedroom. She had to start packing to move again, if her plan worked out like it was supposed to. There was a cry of disgust from the kitchen. "Oh. Em. Gee. Is that, like, your roommate, Elise? She was, like, one of them?" Elise didn't bother to reply, Trisha's cliche and disgusting behaviour already grating on her nerves. She packed with the movements of one who has done it before, choosing clothing and items with ease. She hesitated for a few brief seconds then lifted up a tiny toy mouse filled with catnip and placed it in the suitcase. Elise had always wanted a cat. She walked across the hallway into Janine's room and opened her underwear drawer. The roll of bills was right where she had found it a few months ago, as was the ziploc bag of cocaine. Elise pocketed the cash and considered the bag. She decided it was too dangerous to be carrying it around, even if selling it would give her more money, and replaced it. She walked back into the living area, picking up the small bag of cat food along the way. Trisha was sitting at the counter, rolling a diamond down the counter for Mittens to go after. The cat batted it around, purring happily. The **** dressed girl looked up and sighed. "I, like, took care of it for you. But, like, what's this letter thingy about anyway?" Elise picked up Mittens' harness and leash. The cat forgot about the play thing and jumped down, sitting at Elise's feet and staring at the leash expectantly. "You'll find out when everyone else does." Trisha sighed theatrically. "Whatever, *****." She picked up the diamond and walked to the door. "I'll be taking your roommate with me. Oh, and Liam's having the meeting at four tonight, his house." Elise nodded absently, struggling to place the harness on the undulating feline. Trisha slammed the door, clearly irritated with Elise's lack of attention. Elise didn't care. She didn't particularly like Trisha so she couldn't care less if Trisha didn't like her. Elise finally got the harness on Mittens and lifted her suitcase. She walked into the hallway and locked the door behind herself. She left again, like so many other places, none different. ----------------------------- The meeting began in silence, Liam presiding, and everyone staring at the quiet Elise in the corner with a cat on her lap. Liam explained that mysterious deaths had occurred with Kevin and his group. Elise pretended to look shocked and dismayed. She knew she had succeeded when several people gave her looks of sympathy. Liam then turned the floor over to her and she stood, unfolding the letter. She read it in the silence of the room, her voice clear and dictated. At the end of the reading there was a silence born of shock then an angry muttering. Before the place could come down in shouting Liam stepped in, spreading his hands. His power came down, effectively shutting down all noise. He turned it off when there was calm. "Okay, so this is a shock to everybody but Elise has a plan apparently." he turned to her, a pleading look on his face. Make it good. Elise took a deep breath. "Alright. I suggest we infiltrate this mansion. One of us should go in. Someone inconspicuous and hard to spot. Once the person is settled and others have answered the call, I suggest we move in and kill them all." There was a roar after her words, and several leaped to their feet, clapping manically. Liam put his power into play again but the movements did not subside for many minutes. Finally, once it was quiet, Liam spoke. Elise settled back into her chair, feeding Mittens some chicken from the buffet table. Until she heard... "-send Elise in for the infiltration and-" Elise gaped at Liam, shocked he would consider her for something... something like that! She wasn't even a Drifter, how would she blend in. But Liam seemed to be confident and many of the others were nodding and grinning, giving her thumbs up over their shoulders. Speaking up now would make her look very bad so she stayed quiet. I guess I have no choice... dammit. ------------------------((Time skip OMG!!!!))--------------------- Elise stepped out of the taxi, Mittens in hand and inspected the mansion while the taxi driver threw her suitcase on the driveway. It was, indeed a mansion. Elise hadn't really been expecting something so opulent, more like a well off family maybe. But this was a real mansion... Elise turned and paid the cab driver in cash, ignoring him as soon as the money left her hand. She picked up her suitcase, pulled out the handle, and began rolling it towards the front doors. She noted two women moving around a car. Pulling bags out of the trunk and placing them inside the house. One was lean and muscular, moving like a fighter. Elise noted that in the back of her mind and turned to the other one. The other had honey-colored hair and amber eyes. A beauty in her own right.. and obviously a Drifter considering she seemed to know the bags better than the fighter. Elise watched a third woman come up to the two, straight brown hair and hazel eyes. She held herself almost timidly and Elise made a note of that as well. She walked up to the four, interrupting their conversation with a hesitant question, a look of confusion on her face. "Um... is this... is this Taryn Alvey's house? I... I got a letter..." She trailed off and adjusted Mittens, who meowed at the movement. Edited by BarkingPup, Nov 25 2008, 02:11 PM.
