Rina's query set Vadril laughing. The confused curiosity was something she could relate to. When she'd heard about Force Crystal caves the first time she had been both confused and excited. Now she was on the other end of that information. "On some planets there are caves that are brimming with the Force. Caves that are usually out of the way or in remote locations. Inside the caves the Force resonates with the rocks and creates crystals like these." Turning the crystal in her fingers she smiled. "It's from these crystal caves we get the gems that power our own lightsabers. Usually they're pre-mined, but if you can get a raw crystal there's a lot more potential for power or a difference. A way to make your lightsaber unique. This one is a Sigil crystal. It focuses the blade and makes it more damaging." As though uttering the crystal's name could provoke its power, Vadril stowed it away in the robe folded over her arm and turned to face Rina. "I found a cave like that on an Outer Rim expedition. There aren't many of them left anymore. Even the one I found was pretty small, but there were some very rare crystals there. Most of them were given to the Jedi temple on Coruscant of course." She shrugged, leaning against the wall casually. "Perhaps if we're lucky we'll find one on our mission." She added jokingly, a bright grin lighting her face. "I hear KO-35 is a planet full of Force Sensitives. Who knows, maybe such a concentration of the Force will show us some interesting things." Suddenly the ship gave a lurch, like something had battered into it. Stumbling away from the wall Vadril cast a sharp look about, as if seeing outside the freighter. "Now what could that be?" She muttered, almost to herself more than Rina. "We'd better go find your master and get to the bridge. I didn't like the sound of that. Or the feeling." |

Rina blinked and looked at Vadril with a confused expression. Had she said something that was son funny? She hadn't thought so. Then again, she wasn't exactly used to being laughed at by someone she couldn't do anything to. As she listened to the jedi master's explaination she realized that she hadn't been being laughed at. Her reaction to the information was what was laughed at. A small, sheepish smile crossed her features. Here she was, having thought she had been being made fun of when she wasn't. "That makes sense." She said in a soft voice. Her eyes stayed on the crystal as Vadril put it away. The padawan wondered if she might be able to find a crystal of her own, someday. "The outer rim?" A planet on the outer rim? If she could find one of those caves, if she could find just one crystal of her own. At the mention of KO-35 possibly having one of the caves her hopes rose. Well, even if she didn't find one of those caves, there was one thing she could always find during the mission. She could find her mother and maybe, just maybe, find out why she had been given to the jedi to begin with. Feeling the ship suddenly lurch, and she was pitched foreward. She was instantly on guard, prepared for a fight if one came up. "If I know my master, she's already on her way to the bridge. We can meet her along the way." She said, turning and starting for the mentioned location. |

Vadril nodded, concentrating on keeping her balance as the ship rocked violently. Darting up to the command deck, near where her quarters had been placed, she threw her outer robe back on and thundered down the hall, sending people skittering out of the way to avoid being knocked down. True to Rina's word Twila met them just outside the bridge, a look of concern etched onto her face. There was supposed to be no trouble on this journey, just a pleasant trip on their way to a potentially stressful mission. Checking that Rina was still with her, and pausing to gather herself into some form of Jedi dignity, she allowed Twila to pass through the bridge doorway before her, already locking her eyes to the on-screen visual of the attack outside. "Ah, master Jedi." The captain of the ship welcomed them with an expression dangerously close to desperate relief. His entire frame was tense with worry. "What's going on?" Vadril asked, moving fully into the large room and mentally willing the captain to get ahold of himself and act like a proper officer. It was only slightly successful. "Raiders." He said, brows drawing low over his eyes. "They must think we have something of value on board, since we're a pretty big ship." That was true, and they did actually have valuables aboard. The three Jedi at least, plus the rather new shuttles and equipment for use on KO-35 during their mission. Vadril frowned. They'd have to be either reasoned with or destroyed. |

Rina stumbled a bit as she struggled keeping on her feet. This was always the worst part to traveling planet to planet. Everytime something ever hit the ship, the whole thing was jostled about and she ended up having to fight to keep her balance. In a way, she was jealous of Vadril and Twila for their grace. Biting her lower lip, she inwardly cursed for not having found her own center balance by now. In any battle she could move as graceful as a bird. Put her on a ship and she might as well be just learning how to walk. The feeling of her master's eyes on her caused her to glance over. It was then, while the ship's captain was explaining the situation, that she realized she had dropped her overcoat on the way to bridge. Well, that article was of no consequence. There wasn't anything important in it's pockets and her lightsaber was secured at her right hip. The young jedi quickly turned her attention back to what was going on, taking in the information and trying to formulate some kind of plan. She may have been the type to choose her actions as events unfolded, but even she knew that it was wise to have a kind of plan first. "Is there any way we could shake them off?" Twila inquired, prefering to take the road of minimal conflict. "Master, taking into the consideration the size of the ship and just how close to our destination that we are, I doubt that would be possible." Rina stated. She could feel the warning glare from the older jedi and knew that she had overstepped her boundaries as a padawan. Well, she had already said this much, why not continue? "The shuttles we're suppossed to use, are there any weapons and are they operational? Perhaps we could use them to redirect their attention away from the ship and give it the chance to reach hyperspace." |

Behind Twila, who was shooting a glance of caution to the younger Jedi, Vadril instead gave Rina an approving smile. Using her head, a good trait for anyone to show. The captain remained quiet, proper conduct dictating that Jedi were to be deferred to when onboard. It was a tired old rule, but the civilian forces seemed to adhere to it almost to the letter. Another blast rocked the ship, and Vadril only just kept her balance with this one. They were obviously getting impatient outside, hammering away at their prize like children at a candy-filled pinata. Various warnings and frantic shouts were beginning to become more frequent in number, and one or two non-crew passengers even came up to hesitantly see what the fuss was. "We could indeed use the shuttles." She acknowledged musingly. "They're not vey well armed, but if they can be distracted long enough the ship can make a jump to hyperspace and escape with the civilians." As she spoke her voice picked up in confidence, liking the plan more the further she got into it. "If we take the shuttles ourselves, being so close to our destination anyway, we might be able to outrun the raiders and force them down to the planet surface. The dense forests there will mean they'll have to proceed on foot. After that dealing with them should be easy." Pausing, Vadril glanced to the other two Jedi to see if they had anything to add. Twila was silent for the moment, so she turned to Rina, ignoring the slightly irritated look that came from the other master at being passed over. "What say you Rina?" She asked, deliberately foregoing the use of her title. She was not her master, and the rank had always felt to her like an insult. That somehow a padawan was expected to be dull and bland. She did not like it. Regulus had, after all, been of knight-caliber even as a padawan. |

The goings on on the ship and the rocking would have driven a new padawan to hiding in a corner, curled up in fear. Were she still such a padawan, she likely would've been. Planting her feet, Rina managed to stay upright as the ship was rocked once again. Listening to Master Vadril's plan, Rina began to think. Over the years, she done research on her home planet, making certain to know the terrain and climate. The forests of KO-35 were calm for the most part, all but one forest. One was known to be home to a highly aggressive species of insect. With their force powers, the jedi would have no problems with detering the insects away from them and use that to make their attackers leave them alone. Nodding, she turned her full attention to Vadril. "We can use the Berrilian Forest. There's a species of insect there that we can use as a kind of defense as well as a weapon." The young Kerovian answered. She ignored the look Twila was giving her. Right now, they needed a quick plan. One that would give them the advantage. |

Insects, Vadril almost grimaced. She hated insects. They tended to cause trouble for her, especially spiders and flying things. She was forced to admit her eagerness had just been knocked down a peg. But it was still a good plan, and the creatures would probably be fairly easy to tame. Unless... "Rina, what about evolution?" The jedi asked suddenly, then expanding on the question on seeing the padawan's confused expression. "Is it possible that given Force-sensitivity on that planet they may have evolved to become immune to manipulation?" That was a definite worry. If they got down there and the bugs turned out to be just as vicious towards them as the raiders...well, that would become a problem. They'd just be giving themsleves more to deal with. Yet even so, it was better than sitting around waiting to be blown to bits. The sirens were starting to give Vadril a headache. Wailing, blaring annoyances shouting for attention. The captain, she could see, was getting desperate. They had to decide this now. |

At the mention of evolution, a confused expression formed on Rina's face. She hadn't really thought about the possiblity of the insects being unaffected by the force. The information she had gotten during her research had never mentioned such a thing. In fact, most of the people of KO-35 avoided the forest for fear of the insects and the venom in their stings. The only defense they had against them was the cure that had taken years for them to create. "You didn't even fully think of the consequences." Twila stated, her arms crossed over her chest as she looked at her padawan. This was why she had been trying to get the girl to plan more carefully. "What other choice is there, Master?! We don't have time to plan out every tiny little detail!" Rina cried, her frustration showing. She hadn't done it intentionally, but she knew they just couldn't sit around and wait to be attacked. "What if something goes wrong? We won't have time to change the plan to fit the situation. Right now is what we need to focus on." "And what if this plan backfires?" Twila challenged. "Then at least we'll have detered the raiders long enough for the civillians to escape. Other jedi can always be sent if we fail." Rina countered. |

When the two bickering jedi inevitably blew up, Vadril remained silent and still, reeling in her own annoyance. This was not how jedi were to act on a mission. Approaching her fellows, she clapped a hand down on Rina's shoulder in a kind but firm gesture to quit showing herself up to everyone. To Twila she sent a thinly veiled glare of warning. "While it was an impulsive suggestion it has merit." She began sternly, her tone allowing no argument. "More to the point if you two really wish to stand here arguing we can do so. Perhaps we should also radio to the raiders to let them know we're busy infighting and they should feel free to take what they like right from under our noses." When Twila remained in stony silence Vadril subsided with a barely audible sigh. "I think Rina's suggestion is our best course of action." She admitted, turning away from her exasperating companions. "Captain, if you could have the shuttles prepared we will take no more of your patience and resources. We will attempt to draw the raiders to us, leaving you and your cargo to pass in peace." With that she stuffed her arms in her sleeves, wheeled about, and strode from the bridge without a further word. Let it be known that Vadril did not take well to fellow knights arguing in front of her, especially when greater things were afoot. "We'll need to get their attention first. I suggest a quick sweep of fire from what little weaponry the shuttles have. Let them get angry at us and seek revenge instead of trophies." She said quickly without looking behind her. If Rina and Twila had followed she was addressing it to them...If not, well she was talking to thin air. Either way, haste was required. |

Rina inwardly flinched when Vadril placed her hand on her shoulder. In a way, she was glad for the other master cutting in. She had no doubt that if the argument had continued as it was, she would likely end up nursing a split lip or swollen cheek. Normally, she avoided arguing with Twila in such a confined space, preffering to save such possible moments for when she would actually be able to escape the older jedi's wrath. Though the Twi'lek did well to hide it from others, she was quite violent when things didn't go her own way. Twila, on the other hand, was not so grateful. Vadril had pushed herself in before her padawan could be reprimanded for speaking out as she had. She was begining to wish the other master were no longer present. In her opinion, she was becoming too much of an influence on the younger jedi she had been teaching. Even worse, she was in agreement with the girl's impulsive plan. How was she suppossed to teach her to think more thoroughly in a crisis when someone was encouraging her to be reckless. When Vadril turned away and left the bridge, Rina immediatly followed. The look in Twila's eyes made her nervous and the dark feeling she sensed from her only increased her unease. She could tell that the Twi'lek was angry, and not just at her. The orders from Vadril made sense and Rina nodded in agreement. "If we get seperated on the planet, we could probably find a way to meet in the city. There's one not far from the forest border." She said. No more words came from Twila. Right now, she needed to force herself to calm down. With the current plan, she couldn't risk being too aggitated. Being so would do niether her, nor anyone else any good. |
