Name: Meredith “Infinity” Marliac Physical Information Age: 28 Gender: Female Race: Immune Human Height: 5’ 2’ Weight: 120 pounds Appearance: Despite being short and fairly slight in appearance, Meredith has a decently muscular build. This does not mean that she is in ‘good shape’, though. Over the years, she and her family experimented in a small oasis of vegetation with farming different varieties of vegetables and grains to find those that would survive the best in the damaged soil. Many of them sacrificed nutritional value for ease of cultivation, and in her childhood she was slightly malnourished. All her toil in the inhospitable earth kept her overly trim, but reasonably sun tanned and muscular. However, she is not a beautiful woman by our standards; there is no makeup, no shampoo, and no beauty products whatsoever where she comes from. Her hair falls to about mid-back length and is light red in color. She usually tries to keep it in a utilitarian bun, though it often works its way out. Clothing: Usually she wears pairs faded and worn blue jeans (or, to be more accurate, jeans that had once been blue), or cut-offs made from jeans that wore out completely. Many of these had ugly patches and re-sewn seems , since going shopping for new clothes isn’t exactly an option. She is fairly good at sewing, so most of the repairs on worn clothing hold for a while. On top she wears homemade blouses woven from fibrous plants resembling flax, which her family developed for that purpose. These are usually died with natural plant dye, just to add a little color to a desolate world. Her shoes are old leather running shoes that were handed down to her years ago, but which continue to serve her quite well and are in surprisingly good shape. She often wears a workman’s belt at her waist, to carry tools in. Skills: Meredith is quite experienced in plant cultivation and farming, which was her Marliac family “business”, as well as sewing and making primitive clothing. However, her cooking is terrible. She also knows how to trap small animals using plate and leg traps, and snares (not something she likes to do very much – she thinks of it as unfair) and a little about shooting. Fixing cars is a hobby of hers, though she isn’t the best in this area. Personality: Usually quiet and reserved, she can be prone to occasional outbursts of emotion. She can be secretive and seem somewhat simple from her farming background, but she is more intelligent than she lets on most of the time. Her level of education is fairly high for the time period and conditions she lives in . While she tends to sympathize has sympathies for both humans and the C1 infected. Believing that no group should be hated with such blind fear and anger as is often shown between them, she takes an uncommonly neutral ground between most arguments. Vehicle of Choice: She owns two vehicles: an old, rusty Toyota sedan that doesn’t hover anymore (she’s trying to work to fix this up, with limited success), and a much nicer - if slightly old - black Ford pick-up truck. The sedan technically belongs to her parents, though she uses it more frequently than they do. Weapon of Choice: She often carries a bush machete (a remnant of when the Marliacs lived in Central America before migrating north), though she also sometimes uses a .22 (usually only for killing animal pests on the farm). History: Meredith was born in the jungles of South - Central America, where her family had originally tried to piece together some semblance of a life. After numerous attacks on their household by various mutated creatures of the rainforest, they piled into their little old Toyota and headed north, bringing with them many of their old belongings and plant varieties from their makeshift farm. Eventually, they arrived in a small oasis in the area of what is now northern California, and began their planting their instead. Her father, Alexander, and mother, Sandy, tried to stay out of debates over group superiority. For years, they worked in the soil of the ruined landscape, trying, failing, and trying once more to develop varieties of plant that could survive the harsh conditions of the dead landscape. To supplement their meager diets, they also hunted and trapped vermin that flocked to the oasis of life in the desolate land. While they went through numerous periods of crisis, they somehow managed to pull through. Along the way, they learned more about building, making clothes, and repairing their cars, which frequently broke down and had no repair shop to visit. Never prosperous, the Marliacs did enjoy a certain amount of comfort after a few years in their established house, which they entitled “the Lion's Den”. It was thought that everyone in her family was resistant to C1, and for the most part, this was true. Meredith, her parents, and her little sister Samantha were immune to it. However, when Meredith was 18, her younger brother Mitchell fell ill. After a brief period of denial of what had happened to him, they were forced to accept that he has C1. Unable to reach the vaccine in time, he soon gradually became even sicker, almost died, and eventually started to gain the wolfish features of those infected. When they were no longer able to care for him themselves, Sandy made the nearly impossible decision to hand him over to one of the more human C1, believing it to be his only chance of survival. His current whereabouts are unknown. This introduction to C1 changed Meredith’s opinion of the infected forever. She started to sympathize with them more, as did her parents. About a year after her brother ‘left’, she moved out, traveling the country in the Ford pickup that she bought in exchange for 10 sacks of potatoes. Much of her income was made from selling food and seeds grown at her parents’ farm. She picked up the nickname “Infinity” to use when working with the C1 and unreliable businessmen, some of whom were untrustworthy at best. |

It seemed like a good idea at the time... How are we to live in the present, look to the future and remember the past? If anybody has the number of the wise man on the mountain, could I please have it? I like black licorice and the color green. There's a reason for this madness. I fell off the Train of Thought. Burr shot Hamilton. Elka wants a red hat. I can't find any relation in the statements above. If you can, please tell me, so I can get rid of it. | |
