The reptilian creature only watched as the girl tried to soothe the elk that she was riding. To be honest with him, the animal would make a perfect meal in his eyes, the meat of one rather lean, tender and sweet. He contemplated on whether he should kill the creature, allowing his reptile side of him to be sated. However, his humanoid, sane nature decided against it, knowing that there was a Carrefær waiting for him near the fire. He listened as the girl spoke to him, his red eyes looking at her blindly. "I can't say for certain whether there is truth in this or not, but such rumors have been heard amongst my own people."

The words that I speak ring in absolute truth, little one, he replied, his eyes still looking at her blindly. I have been keeping an eye on the path to the Gateway for a while now, lasting nearly one moon cycle. I have witnessed thousands of Krimntaar soldiers enter a cave that is nearby, not to mention the hundreds of mountain Carrefærs and siege weapons. They are planning something underneath the mountains, not to mention the capture of any alive members of my elven escort. His eyes still looked blindly at her. He slowly turned his head towards his camp and looked the horned wolf near the fire. He could guess that the beast was dry now from the heat. While he looked at the once-magnificent beast, he listened to the girl again.

"Thank you. To be honest, it isn't the smartest thing to do, spending the night in the woods, alone."

He only nodded. The woods only possess a threat to you if you possess one to it. The elves have managed to create something special that only those with the intent to see the elves, but not have any plans on taking over their city, will go about unharmed. The creatures respect that rule, except for the Carrefær that is now in my camp. He walked towards the camp, his feet lightly touching the ground in uneasy steps. He arrived by the killed creature and knelt down right next to it. He grabbed his knife and started to skin the animal, the blood drained from the creature already. Once done, he placed the beast over the fire, a stick going right through it. If you were wondering on the creature noise that you might have heard earlier, that was this Carrefær being dragged underneath the water. Feel free to take one of the already made tents for the night. As I have said, some of the elves were slain during their mission and the rest of them captured.

Not far from the two, a small group of Krimntaar noticed the fire that was illuminating the trees. Clicks came from their mouths, barely audible to the untrained ear and even difficult for those with trained ears to hear. They were making hand gestures towards the lit trees, a few of the mountain people heading off in one direction. A small group broke off and went in another direction, with the remaining walking straight towards the camp, their spears and crude scimitars hoping to get another kill on this night. Unknown to them, the magical orbs turned from a blue to a sea green colour, as if to notify an unknown force that there was hostiles in the forest.

The vampiric girl frowned, her lips pressing into a thin line, as the reptialin being confirmed the rumors to be true. She didn't know much about how the Krimntaar operated, just that they were vicious. If this army was as big as this creature indicated, then they were either receiving aid from somewhere, or they were under the command of someone with actual intelligence. That in itself was bad enough, but to capture and kill the elves....there was no way she could just stand on the sidelines like her elders were doing. Something was going to need to be done.

"Maybe there's a way to rescue those that have been taken prisoner." She said. She didn't know how far this being would go to help the elves he had been working with, but she couldn't conciously just let innocent people suffer at the hands of cruel monsters.

Hearing the words about the forest's defenses and the kind of people that were actually attacked made her feel a little better. However, that wasn't her greatest concern about the woods. Humans sometimes lived among the trees and would often attack Methusala that were merely traveling through and causing no harm. So, the idea of having some company still made her feel better. As she walked over towards the camp, following her new companion and leading the elk, she saw the dead Carrefær. A shudder went down her spine when he started skinning the beast, setting it up to be cooked. "I see." She whispered, getting the elk to lie down. There was no reason for her to tie the deer to anything, he wouldn't run away and leave her. That was one good thing about the beast. The red elk were a loyal breed and didn't just abandon their riders.

Sitting down, she glanced at the, now cooking Carrefær. She could already smell the meat and it made her stomach rumble faintly. A meal like that wouldn't really do her much good. It would help for a day or so, but she still needed to feed properly. That was her own fault, though. She should've known better than to not keep a supply of blood on her when traveling. Her attention turned to the orbs as they changed color and wondered if that was something normal.

The creature didn't think much when he saw her frown. He was busy getting the food ready to eat. Luckily, the killed elves had left some herbs in their packs before they were cut down. In a few minutes, the meat was slightly seasoned with the leftover herbs and spices, leaving a nice smell for all in the camp. He turned the dead Carrefær round on the stick, allowing the other side of the meat to be cooked as well. He knew that it would take a while before the meat was done and ready to eat, so it was better if he struck up a conversation with the girl. He sighed and looked at her when she spoke to him. "Maybe there's a way to rescue those that have been taken prisoner."

He looked into the flames, his eyes glossed over by the look at them. I know of a way to rescue them, but the choice of entering the place that they are captured is too risky, especially with the entrance being the one that is mostly used by the Krimntaar. Even if I was to subdue the guards at the entrance, there is still thousands of them and other, darker creatures in that cavern. He listened as she sat down next to him. It is certainly something that would guarantee to be my death. I wouldn't think that others of my kind would face the obstacle that is ahead in that tunnel.

By then, the meat was nearly ready to eat. He turned towards her, his red eyes looking at her. I suppose that the journey that you took part in was long and tiring, which makes me believe that you are hungry, correct? Do you want to have some of the Carrefær meat? He noticed that she was looking a particular direction, which made him look in that direction. He noticed the magic orbs had turned from a blue to a sea green colour. However, it was only a minute later that he spoke again, I guess that the time of day is over. The night shall begin and those that thrive in the night shall walk on the forest ground once again. In truth, he knew what it meant, but he didn't want to start looking around with his eyes. It was a disadvantage that his race had above water, but it wasn't something that he was going to reveal just yet, especially to someone that he had met just a few minutes ago. Anyway, all of this talk and we haven't introduced each other yet. My name is Daedarvirian Graederefin, though some just call me Daedalus for some strange reason.

The Methusala didn't like the idea of going into something where she could very possibly be killed. She might have some confidence in her fighting skills, but she not enough to where she could actually take on multiple opponents at once. She was still a child, even by human standards. Give her a couple of centuries, when she would be at her peak, and she might stand more of a chance. Until then, thousands of enemies would be a bad idea for her to face. There there was the unknown threats that lay in the darkness. She might have very good eyesight in the dark, but that would mean nothing if she had no idea of what she would be facing. She bit her lower lip a little, her right fang digging into her flesh but not enough to draw blood.

The smell of the cooking Carrefær filled her nostrils and she could feel her stomach rumbling. He was right, she was hungry. Although the meat would've been better for her raw, it wouldn't hurt her to eat it cooked. Maybe she would get lucky and be able to find a small animal tommorrow that she could feed on. That would be more substantial for her. In the mean time, she would need something to get through the night and that meat was smelling very good and looking quite appetizing. She gave a small nod in response to the offer of food. "Thank you. I didn't think about how long I might be traveling and neglected to bring provisions for the journey." She admitted, turning away from the orbs.

She didn't seem at all phased by the creature's next words. It wasn't unusual for the forest to have animals that thrived in the nightly hours as well as beasts that prefered the sunlight hours of the day. Her own race seemed to do better within the darkness as oppossed to the light. Still, the sudden color change of the orbs did put her a bit on edge. However, her attention was turned away from the orbs byt the being's inrotduction. She hadn't even thought of introducing herself and now felt like an utter fool. "My name is Rina Lunari, twenty third princess of the Methusala court. You are welcome to call me Rina." She introduced, a small smile curling her lips. She doubted he would care for her title, but it was a habit of hers to state it whenever introducing herself. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Daedarvirian Graederefin." She was never called anything beyond her name or title, sometimes a combination of the two, so didn't understand why Daedarvirian would be reffered to by another name unless... "Perhaps it is a form of nickname?" She suggested. "It might be easier for others to call you Daedalus as it's shorter and easier to remember."

Daedalus looked back into the flames again, his eyes looking blindly into it. He knew that the Carrefær was ready to eat, but he was waiting for the answer from the woman that was with him. Finally, after hearing the rumbling stomach, he got his answer. "Thank you. I didn't think about how long I might be traveling and neglected to bring provisions for the journey." He looked up at her, noticing her turn away from the sea-green orbs in the distance. The more he thought about the orbs, the more he thought on the dangers that was about to come. He needed to get rid of what was out there first, but he wasn't entirely sure where it was or what it even is. Until then, he remained calm. He grabbed his knife from the sheath on his hip and started to cut through the side of the cooked meat. He placed it on a clean, metal plate and passed it over to the girl.

You need something to eat then. Having a lack of provisions is hazardous for the journey that lies ahead of you. Although the Carrefær doesn't have the best meat that is in these woods, it is a good start to have before you can continue your journey. He cut into the meat again and served himself. It was then when he heard a faint sound of a twig snapping, him focusing on where the sound came from. Even though he didn't show it to the girl, he turned his eyes in the direction where the sounds came from, his pupils looking into the forest. He heard the clicks that came from that direction, knowing only one race that it could be. He turned towards the girl as she replied to him of his introduction.

"My name is Rina Lunari, twenty third princess of the Methusala court. You are welcome to call me Rina. It's a pleasure to meet you, Daedarvirian Graederefin. Perhaps it's a form of nickname? It might be easier for others to call you Daedalus as it's shorter and easier to remember."

He shook his head, allowing his eyes to look into hers blindly. Although your answer seems viable, it is not correct. For my nicknames, I am either called Virian or Fin. Daedalus is an unusual name that was given to me by the elves and the humans. I dunno really. Perhaps I shall try and find the answer to why I am called Daedalus sometime in the future. While he ate, he failed to notice the other sounds of clicking that came from behind Rina. The only thing he was concentrating on was the sounds that he had heard earlier. He set his plate down on the log next to him and looked at Rina with his blind, red eyes. I will be back shortly. I just need to check something that I made earlier, he lied. He turned and walked into the darkness, his skin making him look like he was melding into the darkness of the forest. When enveloped in darkness, he grabbed his knife from the sheath and looked around, climbing up a tree. He noticed a group of Krimntaar looking at the camp, keeping away from the light that the fire had created. He flew down and stabbed at the neck of one of them, instantly killing them in one blow. The others looked at him and started to gang up on him, with the middle group noticing this and approaching him fast.

Meanwhile, the group that was behind Rina was creeping up on her, spreading themselves out so that she was completely surrounded. Finally, when they were ready, they moved forward and allowed their weapons gleam in the light, a sinister grin licking the blades. They clicked at each other and her, ordering her to surrender in their own language. If not, then the weapons they have at hand would be forced to attack her.

Rina gingerly took the offered plate, being careful to make sure the meat stayed on it. As much as she wished it was still raw, or rare, she still ate it. At the very least, it tasted good. It was much better than her own cooking, which left much to be desired. She nodded slightly in response to the comment made about her journey. She didn't know just how hazardous it might be, but it most likely wouldn't end without some kind of trouble. "I suppose so." She said after she had nibbled a bit on the meat. "But I'm not too worried. I was taught to defend myself in the case of trouble." The sound of a twig snapping caught her attention, but she pretended not to notice.

She half listened to Daedalus's comment involving nicknames, her eyes shifting so that she could look at the elk she had been riding. His ears were erect and twisting about, listening to the various sounds. Like her, the beast's guard was raised and he was on high alert. She could even hear the sound of faint clicking coming from behind her. No doubt, this was a time when having heightened senses proved to be a valuable asset for any being.

Daedalus's movements caused her to shift her attention back to him. She gave a small nod when he said he needed to check on something. The Methusala wondered if he might actually be going to see what was making the sounds but was trying to keep her from becoming paniced. Well, it was too late to keep hidden the fact that something was happening, she was already aware of it. However, there was no real point in stating so. Instead, she simply watched as he left the camp and vanished into the shadows.

Hearing the sounds of something approaching, spreading out like a pack of wolves, Rina gripped the hilt of her dagger. It was pointless in long range battle, but that didn't mean she wouldn't be able to defend herself with it. She might be young, but she was hardly defensless. Casually, she lifted her empty hand and brushed her bangs from her eyes. This served as a signal to the elk to get to his feet, his mistress doing the same.

The girl couldn't make out the meaning of the clicking language the Krimntaar used, but the look of the weapons clearly indicated they did not plan on leaving in her peace. Well, if it was a fight they wanted, they would get it.

In a flash, she pulled her own blade from it's sheath and lunged at the nearest Krimntaar. Her blue eyes held a crimson gleam to them, giving them the appearance that they had turned the color of blood. The scent of the slain Krimntaar's blood was intoxicating to her, especially since she hadn't really fed since before leaving her home. Stepping back, she licked the blood off of her dagger, a look of bliss on her blood spattered face.

The Krimntaar only watched as one of their own was taken down by the woman of the two beings in the campsite. The blade she had sliced through its throat, killing it instantly. They started to band together in small groups of two, making 4 groups altogether. Slowly, they started to get closer towards her, still keeping their positions around her. “Well now, brethren,” one of them said, holding a crude scimitar in his hands. “It looks like we have a lively one here. The other two groups will take care of the Drævarian male.” He then turned towards Rina, “Well… do you want to surrender and be taken prisoner, or do you want to be cut down like the pathetic being that you are?”

On the camp outskirts, Daedalus was fighting, using the dark area to his advantage. It was a good thing that he was able to see in the dark, even though his eyes gave people an idea that he was blind. If his eyes weren’t of use to him, then he would make the sounds and vibrations of the ground to his advantage. It also helped that the Krimntaar were rather weak in dark areas, unable to see where their foes are. In caves, it wasn’t a problem for them since it was a small area for them to fight in. But for forests, they might as well be on the Abandoned Plains of Mercet against the vile creatures of the night. One by one, he was cutting them down, using the sounds that they were making to figure out where they were. When he was getting pushed back by the big group, he flew to a tree and looked down. To his knowledge only, he looked down, the veil that he had on his eyes leaving them altogether. His eyes changed from three shades of red to the proper eyes that humans are known to see. The irises are crystal blue, matching the area that he wants to be in. The whites of his eyes are now clear, no redness tainting them at all. Even his pupils are now visible from the red. He only hissed, warning them that he was coming for them.

Rina lowered her blade, twirling it in her slendor fingers with practiced ease. She could smell the Krimntaar blood that flowed from the dead one. The smell was intoxicating to the young Methusala, making her want more. Her crimson eyes flashed in the firelight as she kept her gaze on the circling warriors. There were eight of them and they honestly believed they stood a chance against her, especially now that her bloodlust had been triggered.

No one, not even the most foolish of humans, would ever be foolish enough to try combating against a Methusala in full bloodlust. A member of her race in that state of mind was a predator. One with intelligence. Methusala were perfect killers when in this state. They were stronger and faster and beastial instincts combined with intelligence was a deadly combination. She may be young, a child by even human standards, but she was still powerful.

She made no sound, no sign of even acknowledging that she had been spoken to. There was no reason to answer. These Krimntaar, they were prey. A predator such as she did not need to acknowledge the words of prey. Instead, she licked away a drop of blood from the corner of her mouth, a smirk curling the corners of her lips.

She held her dagger in a battle ready position, crouching down slightly as she readied herself for attack. Finding an opening, she shot foreward and made a slicing motion. The action slashed the throat of one and she whirled around, pushing the blade into the back of another's skull. Two down, six more to go. Perhaps one would find itself with her fangs in his throat.

The Krimntaar watched as the girl lowered her weapon. The Krimntaar that had spoken to her turned to his comrades, clicking to them. Then, one by one, they took a step closer towards her, closing the gap that could allow her to escape. They didn't know what race she was, nor did they care. They needed to either kill her or capture her so that she wouldn't alert the elves of the oncoming invasion. The Drævarian was too much of a threat to keep alive, since he is able to escape them once captured. The leader of the apparent group smirked, clicking amongst his companion. They brandished their weapons, the blades gleaming their wicked smiles in the flames.

One of them, eager to cause some bloodshed, jumped at Rina, his halberd aimed right at her side in a sweeping arc. The leader shook his head, knowing that this isn't what he wanted to happen, and clicked amongst the others. One by one, they launched themselves into the attack, all of them closing closely towards the girl. The leader, however, hung back, pulling out an elven bow from behind his back. He nocked an arrow onto the string, which looked like it was made out of pure silver, and pulled the bow back, focusing on the girl that his group was attacking. Finally, once he thought that he had a shot on her, he let go of the string.

Meanwhile, Daedalus was causing havoc amongst the other two groups. He already brought down half a dozen Krimntaar with his bare hands, let alone the others with his dagger. He looked over to Rina to see how she was fairing against the other group. However, that was a mistake that he would pay the price for. One of his opponents managed to get an arrow into one of his wings in midflight, causing him to crash onto the forest floor. He pulled out an arrow, though he was surrounded by the remaining mountain people, their halberds pointing dangerously close to his body. One of them, brandishing an axe, raised it up and smirked at the fallen Drævarian. "It's time for you to go back to your foul people, serpent," it croaked, a glint of glee in its eye. Then, the axehead fell.

Rina kept her eyes on the Krimntaar, their blood red color showing brightly in the night. Had these attackers realized what they were attacking, they would likely have fled. Most anyone with an actual brain would have. Well, prey never was known for being too intelligent.

Catching movement in the corner of her eye, she looked over in time to see one of the Krimntaar swinging his blade at her. Quick as lightening, she whirled around and grabbed the attacker's wrist and twisted. There was a sickening snapping sound, the wrist being broken. A sadistic smile formed on her lips as she thrust her dagger into the Krimntaar's throat. She quickly discarded the body and turned to defend herself against the incoming ones. Her blood covered blade flashed in the firelight as she killed another two. Her focus was on the battle she was currently in, so she didn't notice that one of them had choosen to hang back. Nor did she notice the arrow.

A searing pain erupted from her left side and caused her to stumble, nearly right into a scimitar. Her crimson eyes narrowed dangerously as she let out a sharp hiss as she staggered back, her right hand holding the wound the arrow stuck out of. She snapped the shaft of the arrow, knowing that it wouldn't be wise to just pull out the whole thing. The methusala promptly shoved the broken arrow into another Krimntaar's skull through the eye. Now she was pissed.

Her gaze flicked from the last Krimntaar circling her to the one that had shot her with the arrow. A smirk crossed her features as she made her pick. That one had just sealed his fate.

Sensing movement to her injured side, she whirled around and slammed the dagger right between his eyes. Now there was only one.
