I'd like to take on the 'Hall of the Gods' and do it solo. I'm not too good with combat as I never am able to tell when I might be moding or not. I'll try my best, though.

Additional info...I tend to have my char react as if I were the one in the situation. That means...my character(s) might come off as random at times.

In the hidden area somewhere near the Gateway to Gelbeterron, a river rolled down the valley, the roars of the rapids drowning out even the birdcalls. A branch from the tall mountains rocked with the waves, the wood bashing against the sides of the cliffs. Each hit against the cliffs had not only broken a few of the little branches on the log, but it had also broken off bits of rock from the cliff. The log hit again, dislodging a loose boulder. The boulder held the entire side of the cliff that held it in place, sending the massive rock crashing into the water. The old face of the cliff juddered to a stop when it hit the riverbed, then toppled to the other side of the river, crashing against the opposite cliff. The cliff held the new weight, the rock now changing the entire sight of the river altogether. The sound of the rocks hitting each other echoed up and down the valley, reaching deep into the mountains. The birds that had lived in the cliffs had scattered everywhere, the entire flock moving down the river, following the direction where the log was going.

Eventually, the log slowed down, the river calming dramatically as the scenery changed from the rugged mountains to the mystical, eerie forest that made up Jaeltreg Forest. The elves had done a terrific job at preserving the forest with their magic, the little orbs that came from an unknown source floated around, disappearing as they neared the rocks. Weird and wonderful creatures ran, jumped, swam and flew in and around the river, not noticing the log that had come down from the mountains. One creature in particular, the Carrefær (or as travelling humans had called them, 'horned wolves') walked along the banks, dwarfing the nearby Dire Wolves by a fair few feet. Their horns varied as travelers moved across the forest. This Carrefær had horns resembling the mountain ram, though it had branches coming out from them resembling the forks that the deer had. The creature walked down to the river bank, lowering its head down to drink from the pure, clean waters that the tributary had, before it was tainted by the waters that came from the other rivers had.

Nearby, there were several of the mountain folk, called the Krimntaar, walked up and down the path to the mountains. Unlike most travelers, they had several weapons, with their own, enslaved Carrefærs towing siege weapons from the mountain. The Krimntaar had been warring against the Elves that had resided in the second capital of Gelbeterron, Silvæa, wanting the sacred lands that the city was on for their own, wicked needs. Many times the mountain people had tried to walk through the forests that the city was in, all of them failing with a mysterious force that was in the deep of the forest. No one could figure what this force was, but it was strong enough to kill the invaders and scaring the survivors back into the mountains. Most rumoured that there was a hidden guardian that was taller than the trees that had protected the city, smiting down the Krimntaar's march. Others suggest that there was a magical force that the elves had placed on the forest a long time ago that never died with each attack, replenishing the power that it had in an instant. Whatever it was, it urged the mountain people on to try and get to the city and claim it as their own.

Several miles away from the paths end, leading into a deep cavern, a small fire was crackling on, lighting the blue grass on the ground in an array of green and purples, the red and yellow flame licking up to the sky. There were several tents that were around the fire, the bed rolls lying inside of them. Logs were placed intricately around the fire, allowing travelers to rest and sit by the many fires that were there before them.

The fading light of the sun filtered through the leaves of the trees as she guided the elk she rode deeper into the forest. She was a young girl, barely beyond her fifteenth summer, and just starting to grow into womanhood. The remaining light hit off her short, raven hair, revealing the blue highlights and giving her alabaster skin a faint glow to it. Her footsteps made hardly any sound as she walked, the elk she had been riding moments earlier towering above her. Sapphire eyes scanned the area as she continued onward, slendor fingers wrapped around the hilt of the dagger on her right hip.

A rustling sound caused the elk to start, his brown eyes went wide as his dish-like ears perked up. His body tensed, muscles rippling beneath the auburn fur. The only thing that kept the deer from bolting was his rider's firm hold of his reigns. The beast relaxed slightly as his master reached up and gently stroked the side of his neck, a soothing, humming sound coming from her throat. The elk lowered his head a bit and nibbled at the ebony locks on the girl's head, causing her to laugh softly.

Playfully, she swatted at the elk's nose. The black fabric of her tunic caught the light and appeared faded and grey in some areas. A smile curved her lips as her ride nipped at her fingers and sleeve. The actions clearly had returned the elk to calm and she was able to relax as well. Reaching up, she brushed her fingers against one of the rough, coal colored antlers that jutted out of the deer's head like a pair of long spikes. She gripped the antler her hand was on and used it to pull herself up onto the elk's back. With the adjustments of the reigns, she urged the creature foreward, letting him leap and bound through the trees. The wind blew the hair covering the tops of her ears, revealing a slightly pointed edge. Carefully, she leaned foreward and whispered something the deer's ear, making him move more swiftly in the direction of the camp site.

The Carrefær that was beside the river looked up and noticed the girl on an elk traveling in the forest behind it. At first, it wanted to continue to drink from the river, but the thought of hunger filled its thoughts. It turned away from the water's edge and looked on at the woman, ready to kill the elk that she was riding on. However, before it could even move away, something grabbed its hind legs, causing it to yelp out in surprise. However, the yelp turned into a gargle as it was dragged into the water. For a few minutes, the Carrefær fought against the thing that was trying to kill it. In the end, the thing that was holding it down slashed its throat, drowning it in blood and water. The thing, forming a rough shade of a humanoid, bit into its neck and drained the horned wolf of the blood that was oozing out into the water. Once drained, it threw the body back onto the shore, then got out itself.

The figure, definitely a humanoid, had taken a reptilian form, though none of the reptiles that Jaeltreg Forest has. The one thing is that the being had gills on the side of its - seemingly having a male appearance - head, following along his jawline. His head was smooth and in a similar shape to that of an Oriental Whip Snake, though his scale colour is black. His red eyes looked around the area that he entered, water dripping off his chin. On his back, there were two sets of wings on his back - one on his shoulder blades and one on his lower back. His stomach had unusual, fin-like things that were on either side of his belly button, 1/5 of the size of his wings outstretched. The tail went limp to the ground behind him, half still in the water. His eyes had a sharp, cold appearance in them, scanning the area in front of him for anything that might threaten the camp that was set up nearby. It was then that he noticed the woman on the elk heading towards the campsite.

In a few strides, he threw the dead Carrefær in the direction of the camp and took off, his wings taking him to the high treetops. When he was near the camp, he attached himself to a tree, his sharp claws sinking into the bark. His black appearance had him blend into the dark coloured wood, camouflaging him from the girl's eyes. He climbed down the tree, noticing the horned wolf's body landing a few meters from the fire. As she drew closer towards the camp, a ghastly hiss left his throat, echoing between the trees and the floating orbs that were around the forest.

The girl heard the sounds at the river, but didn't think anything of it. She knew of the sort of creatures that roamed the woods, she did make her home among the trees, after all. Instead of looking back to see what might have happened, she urged the elk onward. The sooner she returned home, the better. It wasn't that she didn't like the woods at night, she just had some things that required her attention.

The elk she was riding suddenly reared up, nearly knocking the girl off his back. It took her entire focus to calm the beast down and even then, he was still on edge and extremly flightly. This behavior could only mean one thing. A predator.

Without hesitating, she drew out the blade at her hip, looking around with sharp eyes. The hiss sent a shiver down her spine and caused her to tighten her grip on her weapon. Had she been snuck up on? Was she about to be attacked? Her gaze rested on the nearby campsight and her lips pressed into a thin line. She didn't think the elves would camp out in this manner and knew for a fact that the Krimntaar hadn't been able to breach the forest defenses.

"Who's there?" The girl demanded, her voice shaking slightly. A pair of elongated canines glinted in the firelight as she opened her mouth to speak. "I demand that you show yourself!" She shouted again, this time sounding a bit more confident.

The being watched as the elk reared, nearly throwing the girl off of its back. But, to his surprise, the girl had managed to get the creature to calm down from its frightened state. He continued to hiss at her, watching her pull a dagger from its sheath. His hiss deepened into a rumbling growl, his teeth bared at her. Unlike his black exterior and red eyes, his teeth were white. However, the gap between his lipless mouth was too small to give his position away. "Who's there?" was what he heard from her. He vaguely noticed the long teeth that she had, the light magic orbs and firelight making it stick out like a sore thumb. As soon as he saw that, the hissing stopped, leaving only the sounds of the crackling fire. "I demand that you show yourself!"

A few seconds later, he was on the ground, making no sound as to where he came from. He walked up towards her, his wings held closely to his back. His head was tilted towards its side, watching the girl approach the camp with curiosity. For a few minutes as he approached her, clicking sounds came from his throat, as if it wanted to communicate with her. His red eyes revealed the true curiosity that had captivated him, shining in the firelight. Seeing that the clicking that it made was not getting the girl's attention, it finally spoke to her. Instead of the verbal message, he spoke to her telepathically. What are you doing near my camp? No one goes near my camp.

She could feel the elk's agitation as he pranced about, waiting for the moment where he could bolt deep into the woods. Her pride would not allow for that. She was a Methusala, after all. Her race was long lived and not easily chased away, especially not by some bodiless clicking sound. Tightening her grip on the reigns, she scanned the area. Light reflected of her eyes in an eerie manner, giving them a sort of glow. Her heart was pounding in chest, so loud she could've sworn it was the beating of a drum.

Was someone playing tricks on her? Had she unknowingly walked right into a trap set by some ignorant human? It wasn't unusual for the shorter lived races to hunt down those who had long lifespans. Humans seemed to do so the most and she had noticed that their preffered target tended to be members of her own race. How many times have they had to perform burial rites for those who had been slaughtered? She shuddered to think of the many tortures had been invented to be used on the Methusala. If this was a human, with the intent to slay her, then she she wouldn't need to worry about feeding for at least a week.

She heard words in her head and froze. This was no human. It couldn't be an elf, either. Her head whipped around, dagger poised for combat.

"I am only passing through." She explained. "I was unaware that there was a camp in this area."

Her search ceased when she saw the strange, reptilian creature that had approached. Was it he who had just communicated with her? She didn't know. The girl was unfamiliar with this sort of being. Did he hail from the mountains? Had he been here this whole time? So many questions raced through her mind and made her somewhat dizzy.

"Might I inquire as to why you are here?"

The reptilian being watched as the girl scanned the area for him. He could sense the tension that she was putting onto her reigns, his sudden presence warning her of some danger that was about. He had guessed that she was some sort of vampiric being, knowing that they can live longer than the pathetic humans that had dominated the world. The Krimntaar weren’t usually that long lived, seeing as they would throw their lives away trying to get Silvæe from the elves. The particular race that he was was long lived, following the creature that they can relate to back in the northern reaches of Aranth Ocean. When he finally communicated to her, she was instantly alert, her actions ready for combat.

”I am only passing through. I was unaware that there was a camp in this area.”

His hand eased off of the dagger, knowing that her intentions were true to their word. It wasn’t as much as he could guess them, but he knew. He could feel the aura that was coming from her, the gentle rays radiating from her calm. When she finally noticed him, he froze for a second. It was probably the first time that another humanoid would have seen him and he would allow them to live from this encounter. A few seconds later, he walked towards her, his right hand showing that he was no threat to her. On his palms were black callus-like things, each of them where the knuckles are. He walked closer to the elk and placed his hand on it. The soothe feeling that came from them were trying to calm the beast down, if it allowed him to.

”Might I inquire as to why you are here?”

For a second, the question was left unanswered. He focused on the elk that was in front of him. Then, his thoughts went to her again. There is no need to fear me, little one. I am merely a traveller and helper to the elves cause in Silvæa. I am here because there has been a rumour that the Krimntaar were planning another attack against the elven city, their army bigger than anything that they have seen. I have been sent t see if this was true and to find a way of delaying the attack so the elves can gather their armies to repel the forces. He then looked in the direction of the Carrefær, realizing that his meal was needed to be cooked. Do you need a place to stay for the night, little one? The elves that were trying to assist me for the task had perished or have been captured by their foe.

The young Methusala watched the being as he grew ever closer, her sapphires eyes staying locked on the reptilian creature. She was unsure of whether she would escape unscathed if this being so choose to attack her and her mount. Whoever, whatever he was, he looked as if he would be swift. Her elk might be able to outrun a good number of predators, but she had her doubts about this one.

Her grip on her dagger relaxed when she saw he had no intent of harming her. That was a relief. She really was in no mood to fight this evening. The elk shook his head, as if trying to force the reigns from his rider's grip. Very softly, she whispered soothing words into the deer's ears. Sheathing her dagger, she gently pet the side of the animal's neck. She didn't stop until she felt the muscles beneath her relax, a sign that the elk wouldn't bolt at the slightest sound.

Once the beast was calmed down some, he allowed the reptilian being to draw closer. So long as his rider was relaxed, he would be and she knew it. That was the only downside to riding an elk. They tended to be easilly startled and somewhat flighty, a dangerous thing if the rider was equally nervous.

A frown formed on her face as her question was answered. She had heard rumors of what the Krimntaar were up to, but hadn't recieved much information on it. In truth, Methusala had a tendency of just keeping to themselves. It wasn't that they didn't have any opinion on the whole thing, it was just that so many had a mixed opinion. If she had a choice, she would side with the elves. That was just her opinion, though.

"I can't say for certain whether there is truth in this or not, but such rumors have been heard amongst my own people." She explained. Upon the invitation, the girl looked towards the horizon. She wouldn't make it out of the woods before night fell completly and it would be wise no to be caught in the darkness alone. Not even a Methusala was foolish enough for such action. With a nod, she dismounted from the elk. "Thank you. To be honest, it isn't the smartest thing to do, spending the night in the woods, alone." She said.
