Name: Devious or any variant of my name that does not solely consist of "bookworm"

Invited by: Wyrmling/ Sporelett

Roleplaying Experience: My first roleplaying post was about a year ago, give or take a day or a week... or two...

Preferred Roleplay Style: Fantasy, generally of the medieval variety, Modern, and perhaps a stab in the dark towards Science Fiction. If there's magic (or however you spell it ;D ), swords, and a quest of some nature, one can usually find me tagging along.

Roleplaying Sample:

Drip. Drip. Drip. She awoke to the sound of water falling softly onto the ground near her feet, pooling there and chilling her toes through her leather boots. Her heart started to pound forcefully in her chest. Where was she? Why was she chained to a wall without her weapons? The already small space seemed to grow even tighter, the air thickening and refusing to enter her lungs. Fighting off the rising panic, she breathed in deeply, matching the pace of the gently falling water like her master always instructed her to do when fear and anxiety sought to overcome rational thought.

Finally calm, Caella groaned softly, stretching her stiff neck from where it had lain against the rough stone at her back, slightly amazed that she had managed to doze off while sitting upright. Her manacled arm was no more awake now than when she had fallen asleep for who knew how many hours, and despite her hopes, the heavy chain had not magickally rusted during that time, either. The black iron links were fastened into the wall a few inches directly over her head, allowing her enough room to stand up if she did not mind the awkward position it placed her arm in; laying flat on either her stomach or back was an impossible luxury. She felt sore all over, like when she had first started learning the way of the sword, the bruises on her hips, arms, stomach, and legs throbbing painfully. Evidently, her muscles had decided to rebel against her as well, stiffening from the uncomfortable position her capture had led to as well as the strain she had placed on them earlier.

Even with the barred window placed on the opposite wall and a good ten feet up, she had no idea how much time had passed since she was initially brought to her cell, though she was grateful for the dim light it afforded. Because of it, she could easily see that her clothes were stained with dirt, mud, and many other substances to the point that no amount of washing or magickal spells would save them and her breeches had large holes on both knees and her tunic suffered a large gash on her right sleeve. The wounds located there had stopped bleeding during her rest, she noted happily, though she could still feel blood dripping down her shackled forearm from where she had been cut earlier.

Wincing as she sat up straighter against the wall, Caella gripped the hem of her tunic with her freehand and jerked. Instead of tearing into a long strip like she had intended, the material only stretched like the good, sturdy fabric it was. So much for her attempt at making a bandage.

Any further action was halted when she heard the thunk of a key being inserted into the lock of her prison door. Forcing her body to go limp, Caella shut her eyes and pretended to be asleep. She could hear heavy footsteps approach and stop a few feet away from her motionless form, only to flinch slightly at the harsh metallic clang of a tin pan hitting the ground, followed by a softer thud. More water sloshed over her already soaked boots and something round collided with her foot. A gravelly voice uttered, "Dinner," before the footsteps retreated and the door was locked once again.

Opening her eyes, rock hard bread that was not completely covered in mold, along with a cup of murky brown water greeted her gaze, the sight of food (no matter how rotten) causing her stomach to rumble traitorously. Reaching for the cup, its contents were dumped out, the liquid seeping into the ground hungrily. No sense in poisoning herself or worse from tainted water, but without it, she was as good as dead. Looking at her soggy boots, an idea formed. Placing the cup under the somewhat steady stream of drops from overhead, Caella was delighted to find that despite her initial misgivings, the water that collected there was clean, tasting strongly of minerals. The bread, she thought after picking away the mold-covered sections, was too hard to even bite into, so she resolved to soak it into the water from her cup. Eating her meager excuse for a meal (though she really had not expected the Experimentalists to feed their captives at all), Caella chewed more than she swallowed, rubbed her aching jaw afterwards, and tried not to think about being a human imprisoned in the bowels of the place where nightmares originated from...the Experimentalist Laboratory, deep in the heart of The Wood of Darkened Boughs.

My world is a never-ending song that only I can hear.

Everyone always says that insanity is a bad thing... I beg to differ.

You've been approved to post in the hall of trials. From here go to the trials section and read up on what you are supposed to do there, if you need any help don't be afraid to shoot me a pm. Once your trial is completed you will be placed amongst the ranks of this site. A new system is in place and you have the interesting fate of being the first to go through it, hopefully there will not be any problems.
