"Said injury will only get worse if I decide to roll over in the middle of the night," Lorelei deadpanned, folding her arms stubbornly over her chest. And with her tendency to move around when asleep, it would no doubt happen too. Better to wake up to a crick in the neck than because she just dug her bullet wound into the mattress. "Look, it'll be fine. Really." |

"Said injury will only get worse if I decide to roll over in the middle of the night," Lorelei deadpanned "Look, it'll be fine. Really." He raised an eye-brow. "All right, suit yourself," he said with a smirk, although why, Lorelei probably wouldn't be so sure. He picked up several blankets and placed it over Lorelei. ------- Several hours later, when Jin was sure that Lorelei had fallen asleep, he crept out of his bed, walked over to where Lorelei slept and gently picked her up to place her onto the bed. He placed the blankets over her and made sure she was comfortable. Then he quietly walked away and pulled the blankets up to fall back asleep. He knew that she'd be asleep for several more hours before anything stirred her awake... after all, their mission had frozen them stiff and not to mention her injury from the bullet. For several more hours, they slept. Jin woke up first, in the early bits of the afternoon. Finding that Lorelei was still asleep, he got up and folded the blankets away. He got ready to go check outside and came back in several minutes later when he discovered about two to three feet of snow piled outside the door on the first floor. They weren't going to get anywhere for anytime soon. Thankfully, he knew the fridge was stocked with food that will last a week. By the time Lorelei would stir from sleep, the sounds of cooking would most likely wake her up. Edited by DarkAngel013, Sep 13 2009, 04:05 PM.

Lorelei had seen the smirk, but hadn't thought too much of it. In fact, she hadn't thought much of anything aside from getting to sleep as soon as possible. Which was why she was relieved when Jin had given in so easily to the argument; the less they debated, the faster they could get some rest. Pulling the blankets over herself, Lorelei closed her eyes. She woke to the sound of clattering pots and pans. A bleary glance towards the windows revealed bleak winter sunshine filtering in through the curtains, to which Lorelei yawned and burrowed herself back into the covers. She breathed contentedly, allowing the pillow's scent to envelop her senses. It smelled of fresh laundry, masked over by the slightly stronger scent of cologne... ...Cologne that most definitely did not belong to her. At that revelation, the blonde sat up abruptly, only to regret it once the pain shooting up the length of her leg began to register. She grimaced and hunched over in an attempt to lessen the sensation, all while glancing bewilderedly around the room. This was not her bedroom. Hell, this wasn't even her home. "What the hell?" she murmured, wide awake now as she crawled off the mattress and began staring down at herself. Or more specifically, the bandages on her thigh. It was enough to trigger her memories of the previous night's events. That would explain why she wasn't in her home. But that still didn't figure into how she ended up on Jin's bed. Her guess, though, was that he'd carried her over once she'd fallen asleep. No wonder he'd given up so easily last night. Frowning, the blonde stood up on her good leg and managed to make it to the doorframe. One of these days, she would have to invest in a crutch. Bunny-hopping all the time was not her idea of fun. It felt rather degrading, in fact. Making a mental note of that, she worked her way over towards where Jin stood with his back faced, gripping at whatever furniture was available for support. "That," she said at last, leaning against the kitchen counter, "was cheating." |

"That," she said at last, leaning against the kitchen counter, "was cheating." Jin looked up from his cooking over to the female leaning on the frame that led into the kitchen. He shrugged. "I never thought we were playing a game, now were we?" he asked. His fingers quickly finished up whatever he was cooking and placed the bowl of that same hot soup onto the counter. "There's your portion," he said before his hands moved back to cooking. "I would give you a crutch, but I think mine would be too tall for you." He was 6'3" going on to be another inch taller and maybe more. His father had been tall so it only made sense that he would grow taller. His raven-black hair was messy from sleeping and it would make any female want to run her fingers through it just to straighten it. He finished cooking and turned to move the foods into smaller dishes. It was a small brunch with side-dishes, rice, and soup from late last night. "We're going to be stuck here for awhile, considering the snow pile up outside... I can't even open the door to walk outside," he said as he picked up a pair of chopsticks and began to eat. "Hope you don't mind trying an Asian style brunch?" He raised an eye-brow at the female. He had set up a small table in the center of the kitchen with two chairs with the dishes on the table. He sat down at the table as he took tidbits of the dishes and put it onto his bowl of rice. His soup sat next to his rice bowl, steamy hot still as his spoon dipped into it. |

"Minor details," she sniffed, waving off the comment dismissively. Her fingers combed through the length of her tangled blonde hair as she watched Jin cook out of the corner of her eye. More Asian cuisine, from the looks of it. Taking the proffered bowl of soup, she rotated it in her hands briefly before taking a sip of the warm liquid. "I'll manage somehow," the female responded, shrugging almost dismissively as he brought up the subject of the crutch. How that would be accomplished, she had no idea. But the amount of freeloading she'd done since last night was starting to reach the limits of what she deemed acceptable, and the blonde wanted no more of that. It was just a good thing that the apartment had a lot of things for her to hold on to; Lorelei foresaw a lot of awkward bunny-hopping in her near future. "We're going to be stuck here for awhile, considering the snow pile up outside... I can't even open the door to walk outside," he said as he picked up a pair of chopsticks and began to eat. Having faced the storm’s wrath last night, she didn’t doubt it. “Guess that means we won’t be reporting to the higher ups for another day or two,” she mused, pointedly avoiding the more pressing subject: it would still be a while yet before she would be back in the comfort of her home. Assuming, of course, that she could even make it back at all in her current state. More freeloading seemed inevitable at this rate, a thought that she did not find particularly likeable. Sliding quietly into the nearby chair, she picked up her chopsticks and began to eat. Edited by Sora Mizuiro, Sep 14 2009, 11:19 PM.

“Guess that means we won’t be reporting to the higher ups for another day or two,” she mused. Jin only shrugged as well. After what has been five minutes, he finished his first bowl of rice and went onto his second. He himself had finished more than what appears to be half of the side dishes he had made. When he finished his portion, he got up and again placed the empty plates and dishes into the dishwasher. "So the question now comes up, what are we going to do until the snow clears up enough for us to go do so?" What were they going to do in their free time, now that they were forced to hang out with each other, was very unclear. And clearly, the way that she's been acting, she's not at all appreciating the fact that she was freeloading. Not that he minded that she was, it was just a question on whether they would be able to last that long for awhile longer. After all, from what it seems now, that they were complete opposites. How ironic that they were getting paired up. It was already a displeasing idea, really. (( time skip? :3 If you want one, go ahead and write one. )) |

(( time skip it is, then. :D )) "So the question now comes up, what are we going to do until the snow clears up enough for us to go do so?" Good question. Vegetating on the couch for the rest of the day sounded like a promising idea, given that there wasn't much else she was capable of doing besides bunny hop. It wasn't as if venturing outside was much of an option even if she could walk properly anyway. Lorelei took another bite of her lunch, looking around the apartment curiously. "A movie marathon?" she suggested. It would be a good way to possibly keep them both occupied without having to exchange too many words, which sounded like a good short-term solution given how most of their conversations usually went. On an entirely unrelated note, she briefly wondered if they had made the morning news before dismissing the notion just as quickly as it came. Knowing that dictator's administration, their late-night adventure would be kept under wraps unless they decided to use the news as propaganda against The Organization. It wasn't as if they'd actually caused that much damage anyway, save for a couple of casualties--hopefully none too fatal--and if they were lucky, a digital wipeout of all the scientific data that the government had managed to compile over the last couple of months. She wasn't counting on it, though. With a contemplative murmur, Lorelei finished her meal and stood up unsteadily to clear the table. - - - - - - - - - - Another pile of papers was dumped obtrusively on her desk, completely blocking Lorelei's view of anything around her but the fluorescent ceiling light. The blonde paused her typing to glare at the stack, then at the person who had delivered them. "Richardson, can it wait? I haven't even finished up with all the crap you sent over my way ten minutes ago," she intoned flatly, leaning against the back of her swivel chair to glare at her superior. Kyle Richardson was a rather attractive looking specimen of the male species (although that wasn't something Lorelei was going to admit out loud), with finely chiseled features and a head of curly auburn hair that was often restrained by a short ponytail near the base of his neck. He stood a bit on the lanky side, although not without his fair share of lean muscle deceptively hidden behind a crisp white button-down shirt, tie, and work pants. At her remark, the male in question quirked an eyebrow at her from behind a pair of thin-framed glasses. He reached for several of the papers he'd just put down and began waving them back and forth in his hand. "These, Winters," he said, "are the details of your next mission. Your leg should be healed up by now, right?" Frowning, the blonde glanced down at the portion of her leg that had at one point been pierced by a bullet, all while make distracted snatches for the papers from her seat. The only thing she managed to get hold of were fistfuls of air, so she forced herself off the swivel chair to grab at his wrist. "Yes," Lorelei responded curtly as she plucked the papers from his grasp, "my leg is fine." She settled back into her chair with the intent of skimming over the information, only to stop short at the name of her intended partner, printed on the second line. She shoved the papers back at Richardson. "I'm not doing this one." And Lorelei meant it. It must have been the higher-ups' idea of a joke, to pair them together again when there were at least a dozen other potential candidates for the mission. Stiffly, she turned back to face her keyboard and continued with the mundane job of organizing data all while half hoping that Richardson would actually back down on this one. But the brief creak of something leaning against the table behind her could only indicate that not only was her superior not going to leave after her brief refusal, he intended to stay and weasel the reason for it out of her. She wondered, perhaps childishly, if throwing her pencil holder at his forehead might get him to leave. Probably not. "He should be coming here soon, you know," Kyle spoke at last, his voice deceptively innocent. "That partner of yours--Jin Smith, was it?" 'Here' being, of course, The Organization's department of information, which was currently masquerading as a telecommunications company on the twentieth floor in one of downtown Reaste's tallest buildings. On second thought, maybe smacking him with the stapler was a better idea. Edited by Sora Mizuiro, Sep 20 2009, 10:14 PM.

For that moment, Jin had agreed to a movie marathon, but with a female that he had least expected to watch it with. Shrugging, he began to set up the DVD's for a day of merely watching movies to pass the time. It was going to be awkward anyway, so they might as well as go passed that and just watch movies until the snow cleared enough so that Lorelei could back home. -------- The next few days, or even weeks, had been really slow. With no real job to do, all Jin had to do during those times off was that he modeled. It was the easiest job for him to do, but at the same time, almost just as difficult as his job with the Organization. Because of his work in the field of modeling, he's discovered that he had become more popular with the opposite sex. Awesomely... Not cool. He didn't need the attention and it was bugging him out as more and more girls piled for his autograph or for even a picture of him. He didn't need this kind of publicity and ended up quitting the job, only to cause many of his new fans disappointed. However, he found out, that they were still hoping for him to appear again later. He knew that his fame might come in handy... eventually, but not now. It was really unneeded at this current given moment. Therefore, he's now at the floor of collecting information. He had been the one going in and out of their headquarters for possible information on the government of any nuclear plants. So far, he's been successful, but he did have his downs at times. He got exercise from sneaking around and getting the information as he asked for information or got it out of men who were drunk that one night. It was very tiring, but he would rather he was out in the field than doing work at a desk, like he had found out Lorelei was doing. She had been still recovering from the bullet wound, last he heard... And now, here he was, standing in the elevator with a scowl on his face. Brilliant fun. He had to come back for information on the next mission he was to get assigned. As soon as he reached the floor, someone handed him his file of his next mission and he stopped short at the second line when he recognized the name. "You're joking," Jin said dryly at the male who had handed him the file. "I kid you not," the man said with a skeptical expression. "Jin, that's what the higher-ups are giving you." "Josh, tell me I can switch partners," he said with a slight groan. He pinched the bridge of his nose before he spoke up again. "She's real lousy to talk to, especially her retorts aren't really retorts... they only make me want to bug the crud out of her..." He stopped there because he felt if he said anymore, it would have showed that he liked teasing her. Her reactions, he felt, were refreshing compared to the usually dull ones where he's seen the same thing done twice over. "You can't, dude," Josh said as he rolled his pale blue eyes. His dirty blonde hair seemed to move as he stepped under the heater for a moment as warm hair blew against his hair. "I heard that she matches you, despite the pair of you guys having conflicts... and fights and disagreements." "Disagreements is a slight understatement," he said softly as he pushed himself passed Josh. His hair had melted any remaining snowflakes that Jin had in his hair, so it gave him that look of being wet as his hair dried. His trench coat hung around him as he moved through the offices, causing some women to glance up and blush whilst other girls just checked out how he walked. He ignored them... or just didn't seem to notice as he pulled open his file to look at the mission. What the hell? He came to her desk, noticing another male leaning against her desk. If Jin was bisexual, he probably would have liked him, but in his case, he was completely straight. He came to a stop at her desk and leaned against the wall of the cubicle as he crossed his arms across his chest. He sighed softly, knowing full well that she probably had gotten the information already. "Hey, how's the leg?" he asked awkwardly. His voice though, was as rich and deep as it was when she first met him, albeit a bit rougher from the cold. He groaned as he waited for her answer before he spoke up after her reply... which most likely would be a lame retort. "I'm pretty sure you got the file of our mission, right?" He lifted up the file from his side as it hovered in the air between his fingertips. "Have you seen what the mission consists of yet?" |

'Soon,' as it turned out, was quite the understatement. Lorelei froze briefly as she heard the elevator chime and the doors slide open before turning abruptly to face her superior. "Isn't there any way you can pull the strings a little, just enough for me to get a new partner? Wren's been free lately, so I'm sure she's up for this mission--" The fact that she even considered mentioning that name was a measure of just exactly how desperate she was getting. Not only was she fibbing about Wren being free (not that she would know anyway; they'de never done more than greet each other in passing at most), it meant that she would prefer having even the office chatterbox over Jin as a partner. Well hey, desperate times called for desperate measures. A sense of dread began welling up within her as Richardson shook his head with something akin to amusement and mild sympathy. "No can do. You know how those guys up on top don't like making these sorts of changes. And from what I hear, they seem to be satisfied with the job you two did last time. More than satisfied, actually." Lorelei exhaled sharply before picking up the cup of lukewarm coffee from the corner of her table. She was going to need that caffiene. "Those guys never make any sense," she sighed resignedly before taking a gulp. "If they decide to make this a permanent partnership or something, I swear I'm going to just quit field work altogether." But they both knew what a lie that was, even though Lorelei made it quite clear that she hated working outdoors in the any temperature lower than ten degrees celcius. "...That's a possibility at the moment, actually. It all depends on how your next mission goes." The coffee cup hit the floor, splashing its dark contents across the tiles. The blonde cursed, more likely in response to the statement than because her coffee was making a mess, before leaving her cubicle to look for paper towels. At least, she would have, if a certain dark-haired male wasn't suddenly blocking her path. Jin. "It's been better. But thanks," she responded in fragments, as if trying to hide her surprise (mortification? dread? she wasn't even sure anymore) at seeing him. The blonde nodded stiffly to confirm that she had indeed been notified, "I'm actually a bit preoccupied at the moment though, so I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Now if you'll excuse me for a bit..." She had intended to slip past him and into the safety of the office restroom in order to gather both her bearings and some paper towels, but a quick glance back revealed that Kyle had already snagged a large roll of them from the next cubicle over and was already in the process of tearing the material off in segments. He nodded towards them, indicating that he'd take care of the spill. Lorelei sighed between gritted teeth. Well, so much for that idea. Edited by Sora Mizuiro, Sep 26 2009, 09:51 AM.

Now if you'll excuse me for a bit..." He sighed before watching her behavior. He noted that the man that was at her desk was already cleaning up the mess that she had spilled. He said nothing until the man had finished cleaning up before deciding to say something. "Well, you could just skim over it now and if you don't like it, sorry, but we're both stuck in the same boat," he said. Honestly, he didn't want to work with her as much as she did. But he had to admit, they worked wonderfully on their mission together, despite them bickering. And it's been awhile since he's done any real field work so the idea was promising, but with Lorelei, he wasn't sure. A couple of girls walked by and ogled Jin but he didn't notice. They must have been one of those girls who were still in love with him for during that brief notice when he was a model. After all, he had done some promising work in that field before he quit. While he waited for Lorelei to reply, Jin turned to the man that just finished cleaning it up, "Hey, I'm Jin, pleasure to meet you." He stuck out his hand towards the male. "But of course, I'm sure you already knew that." He knew that this man knew about him, after all, from what Jin's heard, their last mission had caused such an uproar with how well the mission had turned out. Turned out so well in fact, that they were put together again. Wonderful. |
