"I'm going to have to cut this part of your pants off, all right? So I can treat the wound now... I don't want you to have to get sick... Not unless you want to remove your pants." At the mention of having to take her pants off, she shifted into a half-sitting position to briefly quirk an eyebrow, but nothing more. It wasn’t a comment worth picking a fight over, especially considering that Jin sounded like he was being serious. That aside, she was—to put it bluntly—too exhausted to even really be caring. Not that the male could have been in any better condition, having run all the way here while heaving both her and her belongings. Although, granted, that was probably her fault. The blonde nodded her consent as Jin reappeared from another room with a towel, and then just as quickly, disappeared back into it again to shower. The heat of the apartment had already begun melting away at most of the frost that covered her clothes, leaving her feeling uncomfortably wet as the black fabric began clinging at her skin. Lorelei shivered into the towel that had been draped over her head, basking briefly in the warmth it provided her before obediently drying off her damp hair. Her fingers felt clammy and numb as she gripped the white fabric and massaged it into her blonde locks. The painful throbbing of the bullet wound inadvertently drew attention to the messy wrappings on her thigh, although she still flinched at the sight of blood soaked bandages. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t cleaned up her own wounds before or anything, but no amount of experience ever made stitching yourself up an easy process. And that was assuming that the bullet had gone cleanly out the other side of her leg. Which it hadn’t. This was gonna hurt like a bitch. The only part at her that had managed to stay warm during the entirety of their escape was the base of her neck, still wrapped tightly in the thick woolen scarf. It was that scarf that she began unraveling now, in an attempt to divert her attention away from the imminent procedure of digging out the metal bullet from her flesh. The gray yarn was worn and fraying, clear indications that she’d had the scarf for a long period of time. If memory served correct, it had been a gift from a worried mother to her bumbling, college freshman daughter some few years ago. Lorelei smiled absently, placing the article of clothing on the couch’s back frame. It had seen her through a lot. The sound of footsteps made her look up reflexively, relieved to see that it was only Jin. Not that it really could be anyone else, but their line of work often left her a little paranoid. What she was not relieved to see, however, was that he had a pair of tongs with him. Lorelei knew where this was going and she did not like it. The blonde edged nervously further into the couch, eyeing the metal instrument with well-deserved apprehension. With no anesthesia in sight, she could only hope he knew what he was doing. Otherwise he might not be waking up tomorrow morning. Or ever again. She took one deep breath before covering her face with the towel. There was no need to be waking the neighbors at the god-forsaken hour. The several minutes that followed afterwards could only be aptly described as a slow, agonizing hell. Emphasis on the slow, agonizing part. She was on her back again, the towel still over her face, and feeling as lightheaded as if she’d just downed an ungodly amount of liquor. The blonde exhaled wearily, muttering one final curse word as she closed her eyes. The sounds of Jin cleaning up resounded loudly in the background, but at his question, she opened her eyes again. The mere thought of food after having her flesh stitched back together was already making her stomach curl though, so she opted for the second choice. “Just a shower will be fine, thanks,” she managed, removing the damp fabric from her face before standing with her good leg. The bandaged one hung uselessly, as she teetered precariously before balancing herself. Wine red hues took in the surroundings for the first time, shaking her head at Jin’s final remark. “Don’t worry about it. This still beats my place any day,” she responded honestly before hobbling on one foot over towards the bathroom. Edited by Sora Mizuiro, Sep 11 2009, 06:51 PM.

“Just a shower will be fine, thanks,” she managed, removing the damp fabric from her face before standing with her good leg. Jin smiled wearily before watching her stand up. He went to his closet and pulled out a spare t-shirt that seemed worn out from being worn often, but it was black and thick enough for her. He pulled out a pair of short pants for her to wear as well. He froze when he thought about the undergarments and ruffled his hair in the process as he didn't want to think about it and just hoped for the best. “Don’t worry about it. This still beats my place any day,” she responded honestly before hobbling on one foot over towards the bathroom. As the door clicked shut, he knocked on it a couple of times before he responded, "I do assume you can guess which shampoo and soap you can use right?" Inside the bathroom, it was relatively plainly decorated, with a white shower curtain in the bath-tub-shower. Next to that was the toilet with what hung towels overhead a shelf. In front of the toilet hung a towel rack with dark blue towels. Then there was a counter next to the toilet with a space for an extra sink, but was not done. With the curtains pushed aside, the wall had smooth, blue-crystal tiles. Inside was a small shelf for the shampoo and soap that was neatly placed on it. The counter was a softer hue of blue that matched the tiles of the shower. Next to the sink was a razor, comb, and a brush with a small cabinet on the wall next to the sink. Inside had a few bottles of cologne that seemed half-empty, pill bottles, and some first aid items like bandages. In the shower was three bottles: a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of conditioner that went with the shampoo, and a two-in-one shampoo that seemed... out of place with everything else. It seemed as if this shampoo was for females' use as the label would say something like "lilacs" and some other chemicals that made the shampoo smell good. The soap, on the other hand, was just a bar of soap. "The two-in-one shampoo you can use, and before you ask, it's my sister's shampoo," he said through the door. "I usually don't have her over often enough for her to use all of it seeing as she complained of not having her own shampoo. I don't usually have guests come over to my apartment. And here are the clothes you can borrow." He opened the door slightly enough to hand her the clothes before closing it. After hearing her reply, he went back into the kitchen, after turning on the news find to snow and turned it off again before turning on his CD player to play some classical piano music. He began to cook a small meal for himself. Edited by DarkAngel013, Sep 12 2009, 06:43 PM.

Her trip to the bathroom was agonizingly long, no doubt because she wasn't particularly accustomed to travelling without full use of both her legs. Gripping tightly at the painted walls and whatever other objects happened to be available, the blonde half hopped, half stumbled towards her destination. When she finally gribbed the edge of the bathroom sink at last, the female exhaled in relief before swinging the door shut behind her. She was halfway into taking her soaked shirt off when a knocking sound quickly made her pull the wet fabric back over herself again. "I think so," she responded automatically, her eyes turning to inspect the items on the shelf. There was only one brand that she recognized as being more of a female-oriented product, although there didn't seem to be any liquid soap available. Lorelei frowned contempatively; she wasn't exactly in the habit of using bar soap. She "mhmm"ed as Jin finished his explanation, jolting slightly as the door swung open just enough to allow his hand and a change of clothes to pass through the opening. It was beyond her how she could manage to forget something so simple as locking the bathroom door. And while she was in a stranger's (well, sort of; it wassn't like she knew enough about him to be calling him anything closer than that) house, no less. She took the clothes, thanked him, firmly locked the door once he had withdrawn his hand before finally removing her clothes and climbing awkwardly into the bathtub. She looked at her surroundings, then towards the bandages around her thigh, and helplessly back to her surroundings once again. This was not going to be fun. Some half hour later, she emerged from the bathroom with her own wet attire in hand and wearing the clothes Jin had provided earlier. The pants, which Lorelei assumed were supposed to be knee-length, ended instead somewhere around mid-calf when she wore them. It wasn't as if the blonde was particularly short when compared to her male partner; she did, however, have a smaller waist. With no belt handy, the pants hung uncomfortably low on her waist. It wasn't nothing that the shirt didn't cover, but she felt awkward anyway. Really, how did some men tolerate walking around with their jeans hanging that low? At the sound of the classical music drifting through the apartment, Lorelei tilted her head. "I didn't imagine you'd be a fan of Chopin," she commented, settling back into the leather loveseat and proceeding to dry her hair. Edited by Sora Mizuiro, Sep 12 2009, 08:34 PM.

"I didn't imagine you'd be a fan of Chopin," she commented, settling back into the leather loveseat and proceeding to dry her hair. He merely shrugged before the smell of something good started to waft through the air. "It soothes me after missions," he explained. "If I put on rock music, the neighbors will complain, and if I put on country, another sort of a neighbor bangs on my door... you'd be surprised at the amount of people who complain at my door for just playing the wrong kind of music." He shrugged. "So I just settled on Chopin, Mozart, Bach, and any other music that involves the piano... After awhile though, it only made me want to play the music so I sometimes play them myself." The sounds of chopping were heard before they fell into the liquid. "I'm making some soup, want some?" From the way he was cooking now, it sounded as if he was almost done. |

Lorelei blinked. "You should just crank up the rock music just to annoy them," she said matter-of-factly. "If they don't like it, then that's their problem. You shouldn't let it affect you in any way." In afterthought, she added, "I'm more for violin music though, personally. I used to play it for a couple years back in high school." It was common knowledge--medical student or otherwise--that the human body burned large amounts of energy when repairing itself, and Lorelei was not about to deny it the sustenance that was required. The faster she got better, the faster she could get back to field work. At this rate, she'd be stuck in the Information department again doing paperwork for a long, long time. And if there was anything Lorelei hated any more than getting shot in the limb, it was getting stuck with mountains of paperwork because she got shot in the limb and would have just been hanging around doing nothing otherwise and still getting paid. The higher-ups could be such cheap assholes like that. "Soup sounds good," she agreed, glancing over at the clock. It was already past three in the morning. |

In afterthought, she added, "I'm more for violin music though, personally. I used to play it for a couple years back in high school." "Not when one of those people may be the person who owns this place," Jin said. "I rather stay here than be kicked out... I have some violin CD's... believe it or not, I've played some violin as well." The sound of the lid covering the pot was heard as he covered the soup. He walked out of the kitchen. "It's nice to know that there might be some that can appreciate classical music," he said as he walked over to the CD stacks. "Soup sounds good," she agreed "I'll give you some when it's done then." He fingered through the CD stacks until he found a CD with violin music. He stopped the piano music from playing as he replaced it back into its original case before inserting the violin CD. Caprice No.24 in A Minor began to play through the air. Jin smiled at himself as he walked over to the laptop that sat on the side of his bed and picked it up. He sat down on the chair next to the loveseat as he waited for the soup to finish cooking. Halfway through the song, he shut the laptop closed and then stood up to go back into the kitchen. He came back then with a bowl of hot soup that smelled heavenly. He handed her a bowl with a spoon and he himself remained standing to eat his soup. "You know, I have movies if you want to watch some," he said after taking a spoonful of the soup. |

"I don't suppose your landlord might be opposed to music playing at three in the morning?" she commented, quirking an eyebrow as he inserted the CD. Nonetheless, she settled back into the loveseat, closing her eyes as a familiar piece began emiting from the stereo system. "I like Vanessa Mae's interpretation of the song best, although I can't say this one isn't pretty good too," the blonde commented after a short while, tilting her head to catch the sharp notes of violin music. She never did manage to play Caprice No. 24 for herself, having only taken up the instrument for four years, and it was one of those little things in life that she regretted having missed. Taking the bowl of soup in her hands with a brief nod, the blonde began taking cautious sips of the liquid. It was only slightly less than scalding, although the flavor of the soup itself was undeniably flavorful. She tasted vegetables, mostly, with a hint of what might have been beef broth. It had just enough salt and pepper to be adequately seasoned without going overboard, but there was also another spice in there that she just couldn't place. She was in no mood to be curious though; the wafting smell of food had already been working at her appetite longer than she'd been aware of, and now she found herself far hungrier than she expected to be. It wasn't long before she polished off the contents of the bowl and looked up at the male. "I'd say it's a bit late for watching movies right now," she said, shaking head. "I don't know about you, but on most nights I'd have been asleep for at least a couple hours at this time." And artless as always, she'd somehow managed to bring to surface the notion of having to sleep over. At her partner's place. She wasn't exactly fond of the idea of making her way back home in this kind of weather, but Lorelei didn't like the prospect of having to intrude for the night either. Not that she hadn't already done that. Edited by Sora Mizuiro, Sep 12 2009, 11:24 PM.

"I don't suppose your landlord might be opposed to music playing at three in the morning?" she commented He shrugged again. "I doubt they can hear it now, but just to be on the safe side, classical music remains," he said. "I like Vanessa Mae's interpretation of the song best, although I can't say this one isn't pretty good too." "I've never heard of her version," he said, surprised. "This is the original and I never really had gotten the time for myself to go shopping for more CD's, as much as I wish to." That was a lie, of course. He had plenty of time when there weren't any missions. He was just lazy and preferred to be at home, sleeping the winter days away until he was called for a mission. When he finished the soup, he took her bowl away along with her spoon and placed them into the sink. "Oh, did you want more?" he asked before setting it on the counter waiting for her answer. "I'd say it's a bit late for watching movies right now," she said, shaking head. "I don't know about you, but on most nights I'd have been asleep for at least a couple hours at this time." "I was joking, of course," he said with a shrug. "True, but then again, depending on what we're assigned, we might not even get to sleep at all." Deciding that the rest of the soup will be for breakfast, he left the lid on the pot as he rinsed out the bowls and washed them before placing them inside the dishwasher. "Well, now, as a guest, I'd prefer if you sleep on the bed than on the couch, after all, it's not going to be very comfortable waking up on there," he said as he raised an eye-brow. "And I don't have a lot of blankets for the couch. Most of them are on my mattress." His head gestured towards it, where a blue blanket lay over the bed... with what appears to be a cord peeking out from underneath it. Jin walked over to the thermostat and found that the temperature was already dropping. It was already dropping to the high sixties. |

"Really? I could send you the song sometime," Lorelei offered, only half focusing on the violin music now. It had shifted to a more serene piece now, one that was a bit too obscure for her to recognize right away, so she settled for simply enjoying the piece without having to wrack her memories for details. The blonde shifted back into one of the softer sections of the loveseat, shaking her head almost drowsily. Warm food could do that to you. "No, I'm full," she responded, giving her hair one last rub with the towel around her neck. It was almost dry, but not quite there yet. She hadn't found a blowdryer in the bathroom though, so this would have to make do for now. "I was joking, of course," he said with a shrug. "True, but then again, depending on what we're assigned, we might not even get to sleep at all." "Don't even remind me about that." She grimaced, recalling a particularly unpleasant situation sometime last month. After that one incident, she had gone home and refused to get up for close to two days. "I'm perfectly fine with the couch though, and if worse comes to worst, I could just wear my coat to sleep," she shrugged nonchalantly. |

Something similar to amusement flickered across his face as he listened to her words. "As a lady as well as guest, you should take to the bed, after all, you're also injured as well." Realizing that this woman might not take up on his offer, he decided that he ought to pick her up and place her onto the bed, knowing that she'll probably stubbornly take to the couch, being as she was brought in the way she was. At that, an uncertain expression flickered across his face. At her long figure, he wondered mildly how she is able to find comfort in sleeping on the couch, after all, with an injured leg, it would hurt like hell to try to find a comfortable position. He knows how to sleep there, being as it has happened before, but he doubts that Lorelei would be able to find comfort for the first time and with an injured leg. "You... want to take the couch?" he asked, again, amusement in his voice as well as something else. |
