Not. Atlus. Just SMT. I started one of these and people started rabitting on about Odin Sphere and stuff. Anyhoo. Megaten includes such games as the Persona series, plain old Shin Megami Tensei, Digital Devil Saga, and Nocturne. It's a big franchise, like final fantasy but more occult and, in my opinion, just that little bit better. Anyone else played any of them? |

Dude, it's me. There's a reason I'm called Teddy. Sure that reason has no relevance to my answer but yes; I've played the series. Me and my best friend pixie have slain many a fiend together. I've actually played most of the series including the offshoots like Devil summoner, Devi-kids and Revelations. Honestly, Most games Atlus makes hold a special place in my heart. |

I haven't played this particular series but I've wanted to, I've never actually gotten around to buying any of them. With all the offshoots at this point I don't know which one to play. Which one is the best, or are they all about equal? |

"Stupidity is a wound that bleeds forever; Intelligence is a blade that stays forever sharp" "An armed man will kill and unarmed man with monotonous regularity" "Nothing adds a little class to a sniper course like a babe in a Ghillie suit." "You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it." "Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, 'cause it's going to be empty." | |

Funny thing about this series... there is ALOT of them. Lookup megaten and you'll see that there is far more than you can imagine. Worse yet, most of them are entirely unique games to the other divisions. I have a special place in my heart for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for the PS2. It plays like the old school dungeon crawlers including the extremely high level of difficulty. It's got alot of customization of different demons that you can recruit that really allowed me to enjoy it. (Oh and there is a suprise Guest star more than happy to beat the stuffing out of you in it too.) The early persona's play like old school console RPGs. Alot of talking to people and fighting Final Fantasy style battles. Its rather easy to pick up and play. Recent Persona games have also taken in a Soul Link system that basically combines the combat half with a Life simulation. By talking to people and doing stuff in the real world you can gain stuff to help you in the combat world. Another unique and fantastic game is Devil Summoner. This game is actually an action RPG that is far more light-hearted than the rest. I found myself laughing at alot of the story and even some of the monster types. This game probably is my number 2 game because I enjoyed every minute of it, despite it being very short. Really, you'd be just fine to pick up any one of the megaten games and try it. If you dont, then pick up another because it is a completely unique experience. Even the early SNES and NES games have been translated into english by fans and are easily available to... aquirre... online. Just remember silver, Every time you see a pixie, you can sure as hell she'd on my team. :) |

Lol i restarted Nocturne cos I forgot where I was. It can best be describes as 'demonic, disturbing pokemon with an immersive plot'. Thankfully we got the 'maniax' version here in our English speaking countries, which inclues Dante, the Amala network, and hence the excrutiatingly difficult Candelabra bosses. And the scenery's awesome. One thing they have in common if the graphic style. It's simplified, anime based in a sense, but you can easily tell 'that's SMT' just by the style. It's very pleasing and not fussy, though Digital Devil Saga does pay quite some attention to scenery. Anyway. I couldn't pick a favourite... They're all different like Teddy says, but they all have mythological influences and a great plot with a lot of work put into everything. Oh and you want joke monsters, look up 'Maya'. x) |

I guess that means I just have to figure out which one looks the best on my own, lol. Oh well I don't have any money at this point anyway, but the next game I buy I might look into getting one of the franchise. I like to play rpgs in general and I only rarely find one that I completely hate. |

The advert for the game called 'IMAGINE' around here - Imagine is a completely free RPG from SMT, to get you started, I haven't been able to [play it though but it;s worth a shot. |
