Winona turned back to the group, "Things will be how they will be. I apologise if my logic offends any of you, and I will try to keep things simple. Does anyone know how long Ragnorok will last? The legends don't say. It could last a thousand years for all we know. The Fates will have their way no mater what we do, Urd has woven it together. Skuld the goddess of Future Fate will not sit idly forever. Verdandi the goddess of Present Fate has already decreed it. We cannot reverse time and leave the stone untouched. We have but two choices: help Loki, or be content with these bodies and go home. I don't think any of you are pleased with that prospect, with the possible exception of Austin." She nodded at the oriental woman that appeared elated, while the rest looked ready to kill each other, but mostly they looked as if they wanted to kill her. She shook her head sadly. They were too far removed from the gods to understand. "Mikhael, far be it for me to tell you what to do. Size does not really matter here. We may eventually be returned to our own bodies, I do not want you at that time to thrash me. If anyone has a better idea, speak up. I think we should state who we are now to help clear everything up and cast a vote to either walk away with our 'new' bodies, or continue and do what Loki wants. It is clear I am the crazy American Indian and I choose to help Loki. I'd be crazed too, after Hel knows how long he has had burning viper venom poured onto his face." |

Alright... okay, alright. So it appears the people (including herself) had exchanged souls? And... this Loki was the cause? And he wanted to use the soul exchange as somesort of a ransom? To bring about Ragnarok- the end of the world? And the big man wanted to help the god? What? Alright, this is a nightmare- some brain-washing joke- whatever it was, she was in it. The entire sponge of her-his brain was still trying to grasp the possibility of such an impossible. Keira had a good share of experiencing the illogical and the impossible, but never something this remote. Souls, as she understood it, could never detach themselves and reattach to another body with... practically a single command. Well... possible... since Loki is a god. Wait... hold on. The large man wanted to help Loki to activate Ragnarok? She blinked and stared at him in confusion. Why in the world? Keira may not be as fluent with the Norse myths, but she certainly didn't arrive uninformed. Not in terms of basic knowledge of what the myths hold anyway. But... wasn't Loki trapped? If this was Vahalla... why is he here? What... idiot of a captor would imprison a god- wait, something doesn't add up. If Loki is here... this is probably not Valhalla at all. Perhaps this is his prison cell "I'd like... to hazard a guess, that this can't possibly be the entrance of Valhalla," she said in her... manly voice (much to her annoyance). "And whoever you are, who is so willing to help the infamous trickster, perhaps think twice." Raising a hand to rub her temples, she sighed, gazing at her own body, which was in the possession of another in disdain. God, she is in a body of a man while her very own- the body that she had spent nearly two decades to tone and build was.... "I'm not planning to submit to someone who had done this." She motioned to herself. "If this is really Valhalla, then let's look for Odin." It was a silly suggestion, and she wasn't really serious, but hte tone of her voice made it sound like it was. |

"Ooo, I'm sorry, it would appear that you have ALL misunderstood something quite fundamental," Loki's voice sounded as cheerfully as ever from, as Mikhael understood it, the orb that was acting as a channel between Loki's actual location and here, "You think you have a choice of whether you want to help or not, don't you? Nooo, we will play whether you want to or not. You see, while I was having fun tossing around your souls, I also bound them to this orb. And if you all would take a look in direction of the armory, you will see the insolent little girl who thought she could just steal an artifact of Valhalla. But this was my home as well, once... a long time ago." Mikhael did as Loki said and turned around, only to find the Chinese girl from before lying dead on the ground without any visible wounds on her body. She seemed to have simply dropped dead for no reason. "If any of you try to leave my area of influence near this orb, I can't be held responsible if your soul can't remain attached to your new vessels. So, it's either helping me, or dragging around this little orb for the rest of your mortal lives. And you want to tell Odin or Thor, or perhaps that pesky Týr, who imprisoned Fenrir? I must disappoint you, the other Aesir are no more. When I was imprisoned, I had the brilliant idea to let my brethren Vanir kidnap Idun from Valhalla and bring her here. Without the golden apples, the other Aesir have now become nothing but dust beneath your feet. Only I, Idun and Sigyn remain. Oh, and Hel, since she is Aesir as well." The thought of all the Norse gods were dead was somewhat discouraging, since that made every aspect of the discovery of Valhalla a bad thing. If they left, they were going to die. If they helped Loki, they were going to die - along with the rest of the world. If they just stayed here, or carried the damn orb around with them for the rest of their lives, they would never be able to return to their own bodies again. No matter how Mikhael looked at it, things looked quite dire at the moment... "And another little, tiny, yet quite significant detail," Loki suddenly added, "As the one who declared her or himself my servant said, there is a small matter of snake venom dripping into my face. Most of the time, Sigyn, my dear wife, keeps me safe by catching the drops in a bowl. But once in an hour, she needs to go empty that bowl... and in that interval, I experience quite... overwhelming agony. Enough to drive anyone insane, if you understand what I mean?!" The trickster god laughed insanely to prove his point. "Anyways, the pain often has me in a VERY bad mood, so I will need to cheer myself up after that, which I will be doing by playing with YOU! Ooo, we're going to have so much fun, fun, FUN!" |

Why did the Lakota seem to think that the future was completely inevitable, leaving them either to live in these bodies or to destroy the world? There had to be a third chance, right? Well, the ending of this world could theoretically really take a few millenniums, but that wouldn't change the fact that it will happen, and the place her home was in and everything... Would no more be. There was truly no chance of undo what the had already done... Damn Russians and their lack of order... Why had those who first found the place climb up here after all? I'd really better have been left uncovered... But there could still be at least something they could do? No? The god's next words perfectly destroyed even the hope of leaving and living in those bodies... No matter how much they had disliked that second option. "You see, while I was having fun tossing around your souls, I also bound them to this orb." Great... Just great... Wonderful. Now they have not only to live in these bodies, but they also have to constantly stay near this orb-thing, and doubtlessly tolerate whatever the god might come up with next... And they also can never truly leave each other, in order to actually all remain alive. Well, she guessed at least, that things couldn't go much 'better'... It was more than visible that killing was still within the imprisoned god's powers... The Chinese girl from earlier- the one with strange eyes- was there, lying on ground, quite obviously dead, even if there were no visible reason for the sudden death, the same way as there were no visible reasons for them to be suddenly in someone's else's bodies. They might easily end up as dead as the most of the old gods... And the one they were dealing with appears to be half-mad by now. This was not fun at all. And still, nothing of what they should do... She clenched her hands without even realizing that she was doing it. "Now... Could you at least finally tell us what you want us to do?" She repeated her question she had already once asked, eyes still fixed on the orb she now knew was nothing more than a device through which the wicked god spoke. How about... Just walking away and dropping dead as soon as they get far enough? Of course, having first dropped the orb into the closest lake available... Or even better, in the middle of the sea? They would die, of course, but at least the rest of the world and the people they loved back their homes would survive... She didn't know whether she would actually be capable of doing so, and even she was she was quite sure sure she won't get all the others to agree, but still... It was sort of good to think that they could put an end to this if they wanted, at least for another half thousand years. Orb is small, sea is large... |

Everyone here had gone completely crazy, they'd gone off and killed the other gods it seemed. Now one of their number wanted to help Loki, and not matter what stupid ass thing Logan had done he didn't feel like aiding a god who wanted to bring about the end of the world and who'd killed his entire family. The problem was he couldn't think of anything he could do about it, in this body he had one advantage and that was that it seemed to be armed. He knew how to shoot a gun, and he was pretty certain he could hit whatever he needed to. The problem was he didn't know what he needed to shoot, Loki was manifesting himself through that stupid rock, the one in the hand of his body. Yet if shot the damn thing he was sure it wouldn't kill Loki, and he wasn't even entirely certain that it would manage to get rid of their loki problem for now. The obvious choice was to sacrifice their own lives for the good of others. Yet even as he raised the gun to try and make a shot at the stupid stone he had another thought. If he could find some key to power that one of the other gods had once held he might be able to do something about Loki. Even he knew it was a stupid plan that sounded like something out of a novel, but if he could find some sort of magic item he could make a stand against the tyrant trickster god. He wasn't about to help in the end of the world, and he didn't give a damn what the fates wanted or had decided. Lowering the gun once again he slipped it back into it's holster, slinging the man's backpack across his shoulder once again. Whatever he did he would need to do it while hiding such things from Loki, and his best shot was discovering it here. Being smaller did have one advantage, he was noticeably less noticeable. So instead of just slipping away he moved almost idly around, browsing the room so slowly it looked as if he was pacing worriedly, which in essence he was, too afraid to go any farther and to stubborn to do nothing. |
|
"I mourn that which may have been but will never be." "Stupidity is a wound that bleeds forever; Intelligence is a blade that stays forever sharp" "An armed man will kill and unarmed man with monotonous regularity" "Nothing adds a little class to a sniper course like a babe in a Ghillie suit." "You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it." "Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, 'cause it's going to be empty." | |

Jörmungandr... was it somesort of a snake creature? If it was trapped in the sea.... She wondered if her family's 'young', four hundred year old Chiao could feed on it. Perhaps with a larger prey, LuiiLin would be able to ascend proper dragon-hood. Then again... if it was the Trickster God's pet... perhaps it wouldn't be that easy. The first priority, as a descendant of her family, was to ensure discretion for her charge- LuiiLin. Of course, as a Chiao, LuiiLin was not a difficult creature to conceal. To the eyes of the uninformed, LuiiLin would simply appear like an oversized (which was the main issue) green aquatic snake. Still, Keira wasn't ready to put the sacred creature her family had been guarding for hundreds of years in danger. Unless... she could contact two other guardian families and share Jörmungandr with their dragons.... No, no no, bad thoughts, Keira. Don't place LuiiLin in danger. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts Keira pondered the Loki's words. He mentioned Idun.... For a brief moment, her eyes brightened. There could be hope for the Norse Gods... if only they could find Idun and secure his life. However, escaping Loki's attention would be impossible. She bit her lip, thinking and searching for other alternatives. They would need a reason for Loki to trust them somehow.... That big man.... Keira glanced over at the man who said he was a servant of Loki. We would need him to gain Loki's trust... but a Trickster God... we can't rely on a single pillar. "Hey, servant of Loki- I don't know your name, forgive me- but if you believe in the three fates, what is this? It has been prophesized like you said that the Gods will lead a war when Ragnarok arrives. But Loki apparently killed them." There was more underneath the layer of her plain words. She trusted the man's shrewdness to understand the mild hint. Whether the man chooses... it better not be with Loki. Otherwise, if they all still survives after this ridiculous excavation, Keira would make sure to toss him into the ocean as LuiiLin's feed. Then to the orb, she said, "You have my aid (in your dreams) if you so wish it. Let us search for the golden apples first, so we can bring them to you when you are released." Jacob didn't look around, he just kept running. Only when he heard voices did he stop. But suddenly, everything went black for a brief moment and by the time his consciousness returned, he felt slightly different. He dismissed it for a simple lapse of consciousness; he got all too used to it because of his lifestyle and the pace it dictated, every ounce a toll on his physical and mental sanity. But as he took a step forward, he noted that this simply couldn't be right. The pack on his back was no longer pressing, all the sweat was gone, everything felt as if the great weight from his shoulders had been lifted. His mouth tasted sour and his hands weren't frostbitten. He ran his fingers across his face.. it was definitely shorter, more square than round. The shaggy beard and mustache he didn't have time to shave were all gone, and his nose was wavy for some reason. The more he discovered, the more his tension increased. His glasses and cap were gone, and his shoulders were a lot broader. "What the.." He said, but his voice was suddenly cut off, mouth left agape. His voice was no longer the slightly nasal one he had been used to, but deeper with a huskier tone and a faint German accent. Bewildered, he looked around the rest of them, instantly noticing his own self just a few feet away from him. Apparently, the other was just as surprised at the situation. His voice turned down as his eyes widened. "What the hell is going on here?" He said, voice nearly a whisper. Edited by Attila, Apr 7 2009, 01:24 AM.

"Hey, servant of Loki- I don't know your name, forgive me- but if you believe in the three fates, what is this? It has been prophesied like you said that the Gods will lead a war when Ragnarok arrives. But Loki apparently killed them." The huge body of Logan did not turn with the usual grace she normally possessed. His eyes searched out the speaker as one of the new arrivals. "My name is Winona, I am that one," pointing to her own body. "I never said I was a servant of Loki. I serve the creator Wakan Tanka. He is in control of all things. I merely stated that fate has already placed us here for a purpose. Time works differently for the gods. Fate did happen, is happening, will happen, you may as well attempt to empty the sea with a paper cup. Loki will be released, it is written. One cannot fight the gods. My sympathy lies with Loki. Among my people he has brought laughter, especially at one's self. Had Odin merely imprisoned him I might be content to let things rest. But for eons Loki has endured torture. I can not idly watch that happen to anyone. It is worse than a death sentence. I will see his torture ended." She turned her back on them all and approached the stone. "Loki, where must we go to help free you?" In a whisper she continued, "Do I need to bring the stone of communication with us? You have given me a body strong enough to carry and defend it. I would hate to leave it unguarded. I have a feeling the others will attempt to destroy it...and me." |

"Yes, that is the thing, is it not? Where to go, what to do, who to kill... that has been something I have pondered over myself during my thousand years of this cursed serpent dripping venom in my face!" Loki responded, first talking in the same unusually cheerful and utterly insane way as always, but during just the few seconds he spoke, his voice suddenly turned hard and furious as the subject turned to his punishment. Clearly, Mikhael figured, this guy had become quite bitter about his situation. Not that Mikhael did not understand - he would probably be even more cranky than usual if he had been trapped for an age, enduring incredible pain, not being able to move, and worst of all, with no vodka around - but Loki had deserved his punishment. He had intentionally staged the death of Odin's son, Baldr, by Baldr's very own blind brother's hand. That, and the little detail about Loki being prophecied to end the world once he escaped or - as it seemed would be the case - was released. "As you might have guessed, it will not be simple," Loki entrusted them in an overdramatically serious and confidential tone, that actually only made him seem even more ridiculous and crazy, "My restraints are far from easily broken, or I would have escaped centuries ago, and neither can they be released, or Sigyn would just have untied them. Every single living Vanir and Jotun - yes, there are still some of those around - have tried smashing, ripping, cutting and chopping them apart, but it has been of no use. My restraints are made of an Aesir's entrails, of the very flesh and blood of a god. They are indestructable by any mortal means... which means we must figure out something else. Eventually, I figured it out!" Loki burst out, as if it was the greatest achievement ever during the entire course of history, "The only thing that can break godly flesh is a godly weapon, and the most powerful of all the weapons of the Aesir is Gungnir, Odin's very own spear! That is what you must get to break what holds me!" There was a moment of silence before Mikhael saw fit to ask a simple question. "Uh... and where are we supposed to find that?" "Oh, with Odin's corpse, of course," Loki giggled, "Sigyn tells me that Odin was last sighted by you mortals merely two hundred years ago - that die hard bastard, to live that long even without his precious golden apples! - in a cliff. In Møn. In Denmark. Oh, and just on a sidenote... getting Gungnir won't be easy, Loki said in an entirely different way than he had spoken so far, and for once, Mikhael could not hear even a hint of insanity in his voice. Actually, he sounded very calm, confident, and most distressingly of all, just as cunning as the legends described him. Hearing the Aesir talk like that, Mikhael could actually imagine Loki as a snake quite easily. "Odin was tough, but without the apples, age eventually caught up with him. It was not so fortunate with his companions, however. The place is constantly observed by his ravens, Huginn and Muninn, who will warn Geri and Freki - his wolves - whenever someone approach, and the wolves will defend his remains with their lives. Oh, and an extra bonus for all of you! While you're at it, you can also grab Mimir's head and Draupnir for yourselves. Either of those artifacts should make you quite powerful amongst the other mortals... of course, you won't be able to enjoy it unless you free me first, so I stop tormenting you." |

|
"Yes, that is the thing, is it not? Where to go, what to do, who to kill... that has been something I have pondered over myself during my thousand years of this cursed serpent dripping venom in my face!" Finally he was about to answer the question she had asked... At least twice by now, and even now it was not on her request. Or at least she hoped something will be explained, hearing the god's voice changing as he mentioned the fate that had befallen on him- because of his own deeds, in case she remembered right. After all, it had been a punishment, not simply something done against him by an evil-minded companion. Yet that was possibly enough to drive anyone mad, so it was easily explainable why he wanted to be free, even when his freedom would mean the end of everything known to humanity. It remained a good reason why not to do his bidding in her eyes, no matter what. Loki- sounding as crazy as ever- continued with the explanation of his situation, eventually getting to the part which explained what he expected them to do- "The only thing that can break godly flesh is a godly weapon, and the most powerful of all the weapons of the Aesir is Gungnir, Odin's very own spear! That is what you must get to break what holds me!" She was almost ready to ask 'and where the... Where are we supposed to get that thing?!'- given that she was at the limits of her patience already- but the same Russian whose fault this all was managed to ask the same question before she managed to, and therefore she said nothing, but just waited for the god to do the explaining. "Oh, with Odin's corpse, of course, Sigyn tells me that Odin was last sighted by you mortals merely two hundred years ago - that die hard bastard, to live that long even without his precious golden apples! - in a cliff. In Møn. In Denmark. Oh, and just on a sidenote... getting Gungnir won't be easy... Odin was tough, but without the apples, age eventually caught up with him. Either of those artifacts should make you quite powerful amongst the other mortals... of course, you won't be able to enjoy it unless you free me first, so I stop tormenting you." Now they have a place where to go, not that it would be very much of a help... They still have to find it, and get rid of those wolves, who were not just normal wolves one could find in a nearby forest. And the ravens... It seemed unlikely they would try to attack them, but ravens, at least in Estonian folklore, were birds of wisdom, with knowledge often surpassing that of humans. They even knew where to get a certain stone, with what much could be done... In case humans managed to steal such stone, or the birds themselves considered humans to be worthy of such present. Not that Helin would know whether comparing the old stories of her own country with the mess they had got themselves into... But the stories were what she knew the best, being an Estonian herself. Thinking of that she remembered all the tales... The interpretation the Estonians had of the devil, a stupid evil thing who wanted to get people's souls in return for the little servants, animated things mostly. And yet, despite of the name written down in their own blood- or in berry juice, or in chicken-blood, the devil was stupid enough to not to notice the difference before it was too late- at crossroads, they still all escaped, as they, even with the name written down in their own blood, could, for example, give the lesser evil being an impossible task, therefore breaking the deal as the servant was supposed to accomplish everything... From the devil and the other evil beings, her mind run to their werewolves- fake-wolves- who were entirely different from what most of the word thought them to be. They were unstoppable by magical means, could change at will, independent of the thing hanging in the sky, never lost their own consciousness being able to think always as freely as a human, and most of all, they were unable to turn others into werewolves... Not always evil, too. It was either the person oneself who changed oneself, or it was an inherited thing... Useful, as they were stronger and larger than any true wolf could ever be, not to mention the magic-resistance... And all the other lesser and greater beings found, and spells, and markings on clothes and accessories... And to take it even further in the past, before the cross-believers invaded their country... the spirits in every thing, alive or not, sacred places... Before that the all-knowing ravens and snake-kings and Põhja Konn, of whom nobody knew what really was anymore... Maybe the most powerful snake-king? Though some said he was winged and lived in the sea, being either winged snake or something mildly frog-like, as the name suggested. After all... Were not the snake-kings, wind-wizards, ravens, spirits and all the others together more powerful than the old Norse gods? From what Helin remembered from the history lessons, then the vikings had had a few villages for a very short period, on their islands... But they were beaten out by them, Estonians, even long before than their downfall began... What other explanation could there be? Spirits were bound to places, and on foreign land would there be any help... Põhja konn... Needed too many to be called out, whatever he truly was... Most of the others were not much of help, though turning oneself to werewolf... Who knew? Ravens... The Norse gods had ravens too, so maybe not... Though some advice would be good. Snake-kings? Maybe. Maybe... She could try to call one out later, just to see if something appears- they were not the ones to attack, at least not them, Estonians. Either will she get an ally or simply, nothing. No harm trying, in case it doesn't anger Loki. That would be a great help with getting rid of Geri and Freki, if nothing more. But that was just purely hypothetical thing, maybe it was truly only the Nose gods who existed, and their threatening Ragnarök. She could only try... At some point. And hope that the snake-king, in case one comes, wouldn't mistake her for the damn Russian whose body she now was in... Ah well... They were very likely to die anyway, sooner or later. |
