"Lady Sayuri." Jegan greeted her with the customary bow and offered her a small smile. He really needed a priority check... why did he always have to make a conscious effort not to stare at the mage? "I hope you are feeling better?"

When she looked past him at something else, the uneasiness in her behaviour made him rest a ready hand on the hilt of his sword before he turned easily to face the source of her worry. Shura... and Keira? Keira helping- Oh no. No, no no. The cursed knight better not be plotting Shura's death. His gaze hardened and he almost had to fight the urge to draw his sword and point the blade at Keira's neck. Her act was not going to fool him. "What are you doing, Keira? Shura is supposed to be resting."

The female knight stiffened visibly at his cold tone. She sought his eyes with no fear or malice and inclined her head towards him as a bow of greeting. The usual bow wasn't possible for her to perform since she had her arms as well as her own weight supporting Shura. Keira didn't seem bothered when Jegan didn't show the respect that was required of him to his fellow knights. There was too much she had done- she had crossed the line. Respect from him was something she didn't expect to receive anymore.

"I wanted her to take me here," Shura had taken the chance of her brief silence to answer for her instead. He certainly hadn't missed the fact that Jegan had not greeted them yet. Frowning, he narrowed his eyes slightly at his friend. Was this about the votes? "Such a pleasant greeting from you, Jegan."

The bud of frustration quickly vanished when Shura caught a glimpse of red behind the knight. He leaned slightly to one side to see her, and found none other than Sayuri hiding behind Jegan's back. Was it trepridation that caused the tiniest crease in her brows? He heaved an inward sigh and greeted her with a slight bow of his head. Keira followed quickly, a hint of blush spreading from her neck. Her greeting was quick and soft, as if unable to face the mage.

"How are you, Lady Sayuri? I heard you didn't feel very well yesterday," he asked, concern slipping into his tone. Shura already knew of course.

Ashamed though indignant, Jegan greeted his two fellow knights briskly and took a small step to the side. "Word spreads quickly amongst the guards, I see.... Lady Sayuri suffered a bout of- she was in pain."

"Was his lordship informed?" Shura cast a brief glance to Keira before turning back to Jegan.

"Yes. His lordship wishes to see her once she is well enough to receive him."

Nodding, Shura's gaze lingered on Sayuri. He shouldn't be taking the liberty to stare for too long, but he didn't really care. He straightened himself and winced slightly, then carefully lifted his arm off Keira's shoulder. "Come with me." His voice made a clear command of its own to the two knights- do not follow us.

"I'm feeling much better, Jegan," she whispered just as Shura and Keira made their way over. Instantly, she felt the tension in the air as Jegan's gaze hardened upon his expression on Keira. She noted the reaction from Keira and wondered what on earth had happened that caused such a tense atmosphere.

She almost giggled if it weren't for the fact that the situation did not call for it and that she could have sworn she heard sarcasm in Shura's voice for Jegan's way of greeting his captain. Then she noticed that Shura's slight irritation with Jegan disappeared the moment she caught his eye. When he bowed his head in slight respect, Keira quickly following suit as if embarrassed, Sayuri returned the slight bow with the nod of her head, wondering if she should curtsy.

Sayuri heard his question as well as Jegan's statement and said with a slight frown, as if she had never told Shura what she had yesterday, "I'm feeling better now... everything spreads like wildfire around a castle, doesn't it? No matter what kind of castle, it'll still spread rapidly, all the same." She could already hear the gossiping of the nearby maids already. She just nodded her head at Jegan's way of explaining what she had gotten yesterday.

"I'm well enough to go see him now, if I must," Sayuri said quietly before Shura spoke to her again. She raised an eye-brow before she turned her attention to Shura, who had straightened himself up from the support of Keira, noting to herself to the expression of pain that flickered across his face. She frowned slightly, not liking the expression of strain that she barely noticed the lingering long gaze on her from Shura, although a small touch of a blush touched her face.

She walked to his side quickly as soon as those words left his mouth. After a moment, she stood at his side and asked softly, "Do you need assistance...?" as they began walking. She glanced back quickly at Jegan and Keira as they walked towards the garden.

"No, I can manage," he said and nodded his thanks to her. Getting up too early before his body could have the jump start to recovery wasn't as bearable as he thought it would be. His back felt as if a thin and stiff layer of fragile skin was covering the burnt and blistering skin. Everytime he moved, a jolt of pain would run up his back and to his heart, till it felt raw.

He was far too proud to admit that the pain was incapacitating, so he fought his way with his body, willing the tense muscles to move as smoothly as possible. Of course... Shura didn't quite achieve the effect. Still, he managed to make his way safely to a bench nestled in a circle of trimmed hedge. A long breath that he had held from the pain blew past his lips as he lowered himself carefully onto the seat. Lord, I feel old....

"Sit with me." Shura shifted tl the side, leaving half the bench for her. "I am assuming this is personal and that you want as few people to know about this as possible. You can choose not to tell me anything and simply speak with his lordship instead. But I am asking as your guard. I need to know as much about the thing on your back. Is there anything else you didn't tell me about it?"

Hesitantly, she watched Shura walk with pain with every step, wincing at any motion he took. However, she noted the pride that was held in his eyes, determined to try to move as smoothly as possible, as it seemed from his golden gaze. When he finally sat down, he seemed to have let out a small breath of a sigh of relief, and she muffled a small giggle that came from her throat because his expression seemed to tell her that he was thinking that he felt old.

However, his statement to sit down next to him caught her off-guard, making her turn her giggle into a quick cough. Hesitantly, she sat down, and her fingers itched to make him feel relief in small sort of small way, as her eyes clearly noted the bandages on his arms that were lining his wrist. As she sat down her arm brushed his, sending relief through his body again. But this time, it felt different. The relief seemed to have only lasted upon contact. Her arm left his, sucking away the relief just as quickly as it came.

She listened to what he said about what their conversation was last night and basically and she began absently to play with her hair as she stared blankly at the small fountain in the garden, her arm gently touching his own, she herself unaware of this fact as her worry for his well-being is the main reason why her magic is letting him feel relief on contact.

"I'm probably only going to have to tell the king the vague details of it, after all, even I, myself, don't know the extent of the attacks that occur," Sayuri murmured softly. She turned to gaze into his golden eyes, her eyes firmly telling him that she is worried about the whole thing in general. "All I really know about the attacks are that they only frequent... at very random moments, like the day before and some other days. They may happen when I've just woken up, or when I'm about to sleep, and on a rare basis, when I'm... well... bathing." She blushed slightly but shook it off, this was serious. "I would tell you more if I could, but I'm at a loss as to how, after all, I pretty much told you most of it..." she lowered her voice softly as she looked down, "last night. If I ever find out more about it, I'm sure you'll probably be the first to know..."

She paused for a moment as she looked away, oddly feeling at a loss away from the depths of his golden eyes. "Other than that, I don't know as much as I've told you already."

He didn't move away as he should when her arm brushed against his own. He wasn't aware of it at first, but her touch was like cool healing water. Instead of approaching this not so odd craving with caution, Shura found himself wanting more. Wanting her to touch his wounds, take the pain away... seek shelter under her wing. Wing? He stiffened at the thought, trying to figure out where it came from. For that brief moment of animalistic confusion, he couldn't comprehend why he was there and why he was somehow resisting her. Her touch... it soothed him, made him feel the longing that laid unanswered for a long, long time. Just like....

"Stay, young one. Stay," a warm loving voice.... "You will forget, until-"

Shaking his head to clear the fog in his mind, Shura stared at the mage in bewilderment. Lost and suddenly feeling a cold dread crawling up his spine. What was that? Did she cast something on me?

In a jerky movement, he shifted away from her, biting back a groan of pain as he hunched slightly over. He had moved too quickly and it probably tore some healing flesh on his back. "Stop that," he told her breathlessly, brows furrowed in concentration to keep the pain under control. Then he realized he hadn't been listening to her at all. Shame, mingled with faint embarassment washed over him as he stared hard at the ground before him. Now what?

Sayuri felt Shura suddenly jerk away from her touch, alarmed and suddenly very worried about himself that she reached out to touch his arm. "What's wrong? What did I do? And don't move too suddenly!" she gasped, holding him still, the relief coming pouring in rapidly as her slightly firm grip held him in his place.

Then she realized with wide eyes what she was unconsciously was doing. The look on his face as he stared at the ground and she suddenly felt herself a bit angry as her eyes narrowed slightly. Had he been listening at all?

"Don't move," she murmured firmly as she turned her gaze down to her hands, pulling them away from his arm, realizing the blue sparks that flickered from her fingertips. Her magic had been relieving him of his pain, leaving her unaware and her magic wanting to soothe her wants of what she wanted to do for him. "Sorry, I didn't realize that... I was doing that," she whispered as she looked away suddenly regretful and stood up, standing away from the bench.

Then she faced him with a soft smile, "I see you were lost in your own thoughts... I guess I shall just restate what I said briefly." Her smile seemed hurt and quiet as her ruby eyes stared down at the ground as she spoke again, "I don't know as much as I've told you already, and I'll probably just tell the king himself the smallest of details, after all, the attacks aren't so frequent enough that it should make one worry." She looked up slightly pained before it was washed over with a smile. "I'll shall go to see the king, would you like assistance so you could come with me to see him, along with Jegan and Keira?" she said, only glancing towards their way before turning her ruby eyes back to Shura.

A mixture of relief and reluctance flitted briefly past his heart. But he refused to acknowledge them. He had almost jerked his arm away when she touched him, but remained still because she had requested it. Wait... why was he listening to her? As if... it was expected of him, as if he knew he should, as if it was instinctive?

Something.... A piercing mental shriek made him stand. There was something coming towards her and it was moving far too fast for him to catch or deflect. Panic, not of his own took over his muscles and a surge of adrenaline gave him a boost to his speed while he reached almost blindly forward and pulled the mage's leg downwards and towards him as he fell along with her. He had managed to catch her elbow before she could hit the ground hard. A whistle of wind whizzed past their heads and a short black arrow lodged itself deep into the earth.

He knew it wasn't going to stop with just one arrow. A hot blaze burned his chest as he crawled willingly and instinctively forward and over the mage to shield her from anymore incoming missles. Althought the searing pain on his back was just a dull presence behind his thoughts, it still had a paralyzing effect. Shura couldn't do anything more than to support his own weight on shaky arms above the mage. He gasped when he felt three more bolts lodge themselves on his shoulder blades and back. It felt as if he was pegged onto the ground, like those insects that were about to be framed for display. "Jegan! Keira!" he bellowed with everything he had, shoving the impulse to scream into it.

Alarm suddenly shot through her body, as if she knew something was coming, but before she could even do anything, he had pulled her down and came to crawl over her to cover her from any...

Her eyes shot to the side as she noticed the sudden arrow that lodged itself into the dirt next to them. Her eyes narrowed and her hands reached up to his chest, closing her eyes and focusing so that he does not feel the relief that always seemed to come when she touched him. She felt his body shake and realizing that there are now three arrows lodged into his back, she almost hissed, angry that there were now more attacks. With magic, she forced the arrows out from his back without him feeling anymore unnecessary pain and then quickly pulled up a shield above Shura, knowing that it was already difficult for him to move. She felt him bellow out, almost hysterical as she felt him force something to not.

"Shura, relax, I don't want you to overexert yourself when you still have plenty ways to heal," she almost hissed under her breath as she looked up at his face, her eyes narrowing as she tried to focus on the shield and making sure that the arrows would not penetrate it. However, the shield could only last so long.

Her eyes caught the running figures and she closed her eyes again, focusing her magic into holding up the shield until Jegan and Keira got here. At the moment, she could not think about how close Shura was to her and nor could she think about anything else besides defending her bodyguard and herself.

"Shura, stop straining yourself," she hissed now, rather quite angry that his body was screaming out in pain from his injuries. More arrows suddenly showered down, grunting in response to the downpour. Quickly, she invoked a quick spell, as she managed to push Shura so that she now was on top of him, the shield still covering her but it was beginning to put a strain on her with all those arrows. "Stay still, you are in no position to fight, let alone defend me," she growled as she pulled out her staff from the air, changing the staff into a bow and arrow. Taking quick aim, she shot at where one of the shooter shot from, hearing a thud as a body dropped.

Her shield shook, almost ready to give out.

Whatever that black thing was that fell from Sayuri's arrow, it rose again and with incredible flexibility, flung itself up the wall where it came from to take cover. It reflected the magic arrow right back at the mage with equal power, but it moved much faster, like a flash of light. Magic and magic clashed- her own shield against her own arrow.

The hedges rustled and another wave of blackened arrows rained on othem. Three black figures moved about so swiftly, that it was hardly possible to aim at them. Shura wanted to protest when the mage told him not to exert himself. But there was really nothing else he could manage other than hold his weight above her. He couldn't move, because if he did, he would never be able to get up. He collapsed onto the ground when somehow, she managed to slip from under him. Though exhausted from both the strain and agony of his wounds, he wasn't about to obey her and stay down anytime soon. His pride wouldn't allow that.

Crawling on his hands and knees, he shifted to her side and remained kneeling on one knee, waiting for the moment the mage's shield to give way. Blood had seeped its way through his bandages and stained his clothes. His breath was ragged and heavy as he tried to soothe his shuddering lungs. Something else aside form his pride gave him more strength. Something that wanted to protect. He couldn't understand where such solid emotions came from....

An answer, that he couldn't really grasp came to him in flashes of images.

Darkness... screams of someone he knew.... Through eyes of another, a man drenched in sweat knelt exhausted and defeated before armoured men... armoured men with the insignia of Tenarin....

His breathing hastened and he stared wide eyed at the ground. Where... did that come from?

"Shura!" Keira hurried towards them while holding up her a shield. Her gaze was fixed on his bloodied back, but her advance wasn't hindered by the on going shower of arrows. She weilded her large shield fluidly, effectively deflecting the missles onto the ground. Stepping into place to shield the two, she ordered for the Royal Guards to take their places.

Five armoured elites arrived with bows already strung rushed in and without further instructions, started to release arrow after arrow at the assassins. The black missles ceased almost instantly the moment the Royal Guards let their arrows fly.

"Hold!" Keira commanded and raised a hand. "Secure the area."

Once she was sure they were safe, Keira lowered her heavy shield, planted it into the earth and unclasped the maroon sash around her waist. It was part of the female knights' attire but served as an emergency bandage as well. She wound the fabric over his torso, from shoulder to hip and back up again as many times as the fabric would allow and tied the knot at his shoulder. "Watch him for me," she said to the mage and pushed Shura gently onto Sayuri's lap.

"I'm fine!" Shura growled, struggling to sit upright. "Where is Jegan?"

"With Resee." Keira smiled shakily. "Apparently... she found the assassins before us."

Sayuri let out a small gasp as the figure rose again and with surprising speed, let loose her arrow right back her. She buckled to her knees, feeling the strain even more as her own arrow was shot back at her, causing her shield to shake even harder than before.

Sweat began to pour down her face as the arrows rained down on them again, this time, much more rapid than before. Huffing and barely able to focus on her shield, her eyes grew wide when Shura moved and knelt at her side. She was about to retort something to him when she noticed the wounds opening up again. Unable to resist her healer side, she pulled on hand away from focusing on the shield and placed a hand on his chest, releasing a rapid flow of magic to heal the reopened wounds. Of course, with her focusing on the shield and healing, it was impossible for her to heal all of his wounds at once, only barely enough so that it would not bleed however, it continued to do so and she snapped out of her healing side when Keira shouted his name.

She quickly pulled her hand away and suddenly felt dizzy when Keira pulled up her large shield to protect them. She almost collapsed, if it were not for her magic working hard in keeping her awake and aware. The shield collapsed the moment that the Royal Guards appeared and began their shootings at the assassins, her legs gave out and she sat down, sighing in relief that the sudden attack was over. Normally, she would be able to defend herself quite well, but the arrows weren't normal, as if they got heavier every time they rained.

She watched Keira skillfully wrap her maroon sash around Shura's reopened wounds. She almost yelped when Keira pushed Shura into her lap, asking Sayuri to watch him for her.

When he tried to get up, Sayuri replied with a hiss and a soft, but firm push down towards her lap so he remained laying down, "Don't you dare move." Her firm gaze practically ordered him to keep still and she was not going to let himself move after that movement that he moved as they were battling to defend themselves. "Else, I'll force you not to move and I really, really don't want to do that."

Sayuri looked up and held a blank but firm gaze on Keira, "Jegan and Resee found them?" a pause, "Are you all right Keira and do you know how badly Resee is...?" she asked now, her voice worrying over her new guards. "How many of them were there? Why are they..." She stopped.

They're just like the ones when I first came here, she thought. They want to kill me for even entering Tenarin... They think I'm out to... Her thoughts darkened slightly before the smile washed over her features.

"How bad is it...? I do hope she's... all right," she said with a worried frown.
