Sleepy Inspiration

When Shura began to sing to her in a soft voice that surprised her greatly, Sayuri could hear the whispers suddenly disappear as she began to understand the lyrics of the song. For some reason, part of her wished that he actually held her with love... instead of this kind of care that always had the words "almost" or "not really" in there. The song soothed her as she understood the words of the song but looked up with a gentle gaze up at Shura when he stopped, his hand paused above her brow. Mainly delirious, she had thought she was comforting one of the few caretakers that ever really loved her in the world as she reached out and wrapped her arms around Shura's neck. It was as if she was trying to comfort him in her own way. Despite the pain, of which her whimpers were quiet, she whispered, "It'll be all right... if you can sing such a lovely song like that, I'm sure everything will be fine, even if I'm here and all I do seems to only make you angry..." As if on cue, her arms then dropped down his back and her head sank into his shoulder as she fell back asleep. However, what she was speaking of, or the sentence she had been saying had been broken off. Eve fluttered nearby restlessly as she watched with wary eyes. Deciding that she had no choice, she pressed on Shura's mind and asked questions that seemed important in regards to Sayuri. "Are you going to run away with her from here where it's very dangerous?" she asked, her beak clicking together. The noises outside seemed to have almost subsided... -------- She smiled assuringly at him when he sought her assent. "It looks like you've already made up your mind," she said. "It doesn't matter who we are against... but if you think it is the right choice, I'll stand by you whatever you decide." He pulled her close as if to assure himself that what she had said was true and were real. "Thank you, for I believe that it's time that someone like... her, change our close-minded country... even if it's a little bit," he whispered into her ear. When the knock came and Tryst had turned his attention back on his wife, he noticed her embarrassment to his question and he smiled almost guiltily. "I... can't stay on my feet for long." "No, that was not what I meant," he said with a lazy smile, quickly lifting her up with gentle ease as he helped dress her... leaving tender kisses on her skin as he did so. "I had meant, are you prepared for that kind of future, should it come our way?" By then he had spoke, he had already had her dressed. "You already know of my sword and those who had died by my hand." Being once a soldier had reminded him of those things all those years ago... "I will do anything to protect you, and I will never let you go." He kissed her forehead before resting his forehead on hers as he waited for her reply. When she did, he nodded and said, "I'll take you up to Sayuri's room when you can walk, until then, please remain here and get all the rest you can... I'm sorry that I've... played a little too rough..." A flicker of another lazy smile touched his face before another knock hit the door. "Coming." Tryst then pulled out a bag of food that he knew would give her the energy to walk on her legs again, in time for morning. "Here," he said quickly as he set her down on the quickly cleaned bed sheets as he placed the food into her lap before he went to the door and glanced back at Seryel once before closing the door behind him. "Ah, innkeeper," a man said with a rough voice that seemed to scratch the walls. "Have you seen a woman with fire red hair and eyes and a man with her today?" "If I have, I would have let you know already," Tryst said coolly. The others in the lobby were steadily watching with a wary gaze. "But there those who say that you have let them in... I do suppose you wouldn't mind if you let me check the rooms...?" As the man was about to ascend the stairs, he found himself walking into the pointed blade of a sword at his throat, drawing blood. "I would appreciate it if you left my paying customers alone, after all, you have no right to enter my upper rooms without a room yourself," Tryst said with a grin. Those who knew him, would know that he was dangerous with a sword, especially one that was made just for him. "Bah, fine, I'll come tomorrow... seeing as I have no way to pay properly tonight," the man said with a deathly glare. "And it'll be a pleasure to serve you until then, dear sir," Tryst said with a sense of fake kindness that seemed to be dripping in acidity. "If you so much dare disturb a single customer of mine, I will tell the King of your whereabouts... after all, I'm sure he'll be greatly pleased to meet you." The man froze as he paled with disbelief in his eyes. Without another word, he and several men in the room left the inn. For now, they were safe but who knows how long they will last in the next few days... and Tryst knew that Sayuri needed all the rest she could get... for after all, if she was the Mage, then she was going to become important for Tenarin and Rania. And with broken legs, he knew that it was going to take weeks to heal... but from what he's seen, it might be impossible to do that. "S-sir, do you know what you've done?" Bob stuttered as a bead of sweat rolled down his face. "I know perfectly well what I've done," Tryst said calmly, his smile still on his face as he wiped the man's blood clean from the blade before tossing the cloth into the fire. The blade of the sword shimmered in the light, as if it had been made just recently. "If those men think that they can get away with this without the King watching their every move, I'm afraid their wrong... and being as I was once directly under the King, I wouldn't be surprised if there came a force soon here to find those men." He shined the blade up as he gazed at it before sheathing it back into its plain looking sheath. (( Time skip! Or whatever you prefer. o: )) |

He stiffened when he felt her warms wind weakly around his neck, interrupting his frustration of his memory loss. But soon after, he relaxed and remained where he was, guiltily taking whatever comfort she was providing him. A sigh escaped his lips when he heard the sadness and inadequacy in her sleepy, slurring voice. He wasn't angry at her... not really. It was her entire predicament. There were so many things that could have been done to protect her better, but for some reason, Rania wasn't at her side. Was her King so callous? What of her family? What would they think if they knew she was severely ill? Gently, he laid her back down onto the bed and pulled the blanket to her chin, tucking her in. His irritation instantly flared again, however, when he felt something weedle through his thoughts. No. That's impossible now. We will have to find a hiding place here. Perhaps we could ask to stay in the attic, or some underground cellar. -------------- She smiled at his words and snuggled shyly closer, wrapping her bare arms around him. "You are going to sound like a patriot," she teased. Seryel blushed furiously when he lifted her, his languid smile made her insides flutter. She had to fight her shivers when he planted light kisses over her skin as he dressed her tenderly. When he was done, she settled back against the pillows and took his hand, waiting for more words she knew would come. "I know..." she whispered, searching his eyes worriedly. Tryst had fought and cut down many men. It was a little frightening to see him pick up the blade again. She remembered... not the countless victories he had had, but the few times when he was severely injured. If she didn't volunteer herself to be an emergency healer for his camp, she couldn't imagine how much pain he could be in. Or if he would ever survive. Her grip tightened over his hand. She was extremely afraid of losing him. Her eyes drifted half close when she felt his warm lips on her brow and the weight of his head against hers. His words found its way to her heart and she couldn't resist wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him close. "As will I," she whispered earnestly. When he pulled away, she loosened her hold. Her face turned beet red again when he mentioned their... intense romp on the bed. She really had no complaints with how he handled her. Tryst was exceedingly gentle, so loving and patient. She was suprised, that after so many times, he'd still want her. She nodded and watched him leave and ate the food he brought. Seryel hadn't realized how hungry she was. ------------------ (jump of 2 days?) Shura took the tray of food and warm medicine from the silver-haired healer and retreated quickly behind the attic trapdoor. The hidden room was a little small. He had to hunch over to avoid scrapping his head against the ceiling. Slowly, he turned and laid the tray on the small table. He approached her bed and seated himself at the edge as lightly as he could, letting his weight sink it slowly so the shift wouldn't disturb her sleep. She was so much more peaceful when asleep- of course. For a few moments longer, he watched her, before reaching over to brush the stray red locks of hair from her face. "Sayuri, time to eat and drink your medicine," he murmured, waking her gently. |

Sleepy Inspiration

During her in and outs of dreams, she had vaguely remembered something that happened two nights ago. Was she really hugging her caretaker or was she actually hugging Shura? She didn't remember, just vague images. What she remembered the clearest was the song that was continuously sung to her. It was so lovely that during each time the song was being sung, the lyrics were being threaded into her mind to the point where it was probably the most remembered thing she had ever known. The songs in Rania were nice, sure, but the King had the ancient songs stored away and for what reason why, she didn't know. The songs she had often heard was always cut off when she walked around. Often times, during the times when she was alone, she would practice singing the songs and she often found herself surprised that her singing was different from how she had expected it to be. Well, so her caretaker said when she had dropped by one day to eavesdrop. Sayuri stirred from her sleep as her dreams took her to a place... a place she felt like she ought to recognize, but could not think of why. A woman with snow-white hair stood with a white dress with light tan skin and when she turned around, her shockingly vivid blue eyes as deep as the ocean. Her smile was warm as she spoke softly to her. "You'll be a powerful aide to the King." "The king? Which one?" she asked, confused. Did she mean the king of Rania? The woman only smiled before she began to hear another voice. She moved her hands as if gesture to go towards the voice and the apparent white sands of a light blue-green ocean disappeared, taking the woman with it. "Sayuri, time to eat and drink your medicine," he murmured, waking her gently. Her eyes opened slowly as they revealed her murky ruby orbs. Her fever had died down only the night before so her body was extremely tired, as she had seemed to began to sleep longer and longer. It wasn't as if she was dying, her body only merely wanted her to rest, to recover from her weakened state and strengthen up. Her gaze wandered towards Shura who sat on the edge of her bed. Shakily, she tried to sit up so that she could try and eat. The food smelled delicious but her stomach seemed to complain of the lack of food for the passed several days. When he did, she rested against the pillow and noticed Eve nearby in what appeared to be near the window with Lancelot nearby, nibbling on a carrot piece. Mildly, she wondered how many days had passed. She readied herself to eat as she glanced at the tray that held her food. The smell was so delicious and hot, that she felt her stomach churn for being empty. When the tension in her stomach lessened slightly, she asked in a rather hoarse but quiet voice, "How long have I been sleeping? Why are we in here?" Her head throbbed slightly as she eyed the food with curiosity. |

He took the bowl of warmed, sweet potato porridge in one hand and shifted closer to her side. He grinned at her dishevelled appearance- sleep curled hair and dreamy gaze. Charming. How wonderful it would be to have her wake up like that next to him. "Good afternoon to you, love. You've been sleeping for almost three days." He raised his free hand and brushed away the red locks from her face, before picking up the spoon to shovel small mouthfuls for her. "I'm a little curious," he said nonchalantly. "Where did you get that rabbit from?" He had thought he would be impatient to leave the village, but Shura found himself content, simply living in hiding with her. They should really start moving... but Sayuri's legs have yet to heal. He wasn't keen on pressurizing her to heal them. In fact, he very much preferred this- looking after her. His temper had apparently mellowed since he couldn't stay mad at her without her bursting into tears. The approaching festival of Inmoret was a little worrying. There would be so many more customers around, occupying the rooms in the inn. He would have to be much more careful. Inmoret... a day reserved for lovers. He should be with Mirai, shouldn't he? But no... Shura had realized what he was. Even though his dearest childhood friend knew half the truth, she had still chosen him. He wasn't offended in the least, even if her choice was made out of fear- to escape a loveless marriage with a noble man old enough to be her father. |

Sayuri's muddled mind began to slowly work again as the food neared her mouth. She blushed softly when she noticed his grin, wondering what could he be thinking about. Self-consciously, her hands went up to touch her hair before coming back down to rest in her lap. "Good afternoon to you, love. You've been sleeping for almost three days." He raised his free hand and brushed away the red locks from her face, before picking up the spoon to shovel small mouthfuls for her. "I'm a little curious," he said nonchalantly. "Where did you get that rabbit from?" "Afternoon?" she echoed quietly as she became thoughtful. "Three days..." She closed her eyes momentarily as he pushed aside some of her hair aside before he fed her some of that sweet potato. Immediately, her hands went up to her face to touch her cheeks as the delicate sweetness of the food touched her mouth again after so long. For a moment, it looked like she had sucked on a sour fruit. "It's good," she said finally, looking more bright-eyed than earlier as she looked towards the food bowl. The next question that came from Shura surprised her, causing her to start choking her as she began coughing. When she had a glass of water, she looked at Shura as if considering should she tell him or not. She smiled a sheepish smile, "I wonder if I should tell you or not... because you'd only laugh. Well, I know you will." She took another spoonful before deciding she was satisfied for now because if she got too much food now, then she would only end up getting it back out the way it went in. She leaned back into the pillow as she glanced at her legs, as she winced when she tried moving them, remembering that they were broken. She leaned forward to remove the blankets to see the full damage and found her legs entirely wrapped in bandages with the strong smell of herbs and that both legs were splintered. She sighed as she leaned back and stared at her legs, wondering if she should heal them or not. |

He chuckled quietly as he read the rapture on her face when she tasted the porridge. It wasn't much of a delicacy, but simple and very much delicious for something so... well, simple. "You haven't eaten much, at this rate, anything edible will taste like heaven." He grinned and spooned more for her. The healer had said that her condition didn't seem to be worsening, but she couldn't be sure. For him, at least, Shura was glad the mage didn't cough up more blood. Except... she started coughing right after.... He cursed and jumped up, slipping a hand behind her back in an attempt to soothe her. He literally grabbed a glass of water and flung the bowl of half eaten porridge onto the table. Then he turned around to help her drink, watching her worriedly. Shura didn't smell any blood... not yet. He heaved a sigh of relief when she recovered and returned to start feeding her again. "I'd still like to know how you got it," he said with a weak, weary smile. "Are you feeling alright? Does your chest hurt?" He fetched the smaller medicine bowl and returned to sit on the edge of her bed, and helped her with it. A faint flicker of amusement entered his eyes when he saw her assess the damage on her legs. She would sacrifice her strength to save him, but she couldn't do it for herself? The thought set a warm feeling spreading across his chest, and an odd not-unpleasant soreness. He reached out and tugged her blanket back up. "No rush, " he murmured, leaning close as he coaxed her to drink. Edited by Seiss, Sep 3 2009, 08:02 AM.

"You haven't eaten much, at this rate, anything edible will taste like heaven." He grinned and spooned more for her. At the offer of another spoonful of the food, she gladly accepted of which, the flavor wasn't as strong as before so she was able to eat it without much more difficulty than earlier when the flavor surprised her. During the time when she started coughing, she felt his hand touch her back to soothe her coughing. She thought somewhere in the back of her mind that his hand was a lot bigger than she had expected and much more warmer. For a moment, an image popped into her mind as she blushed and focused on the water for a moment more. After she spoke, she heard his voice. "I'd still like to know how you got it," he said with a weak, weary smile. "Are you feeling alright? Does your chest hurt?" She looked over, slightly alarmed by the sound of his voice. She turned to gaze at Shura, suddenly aware of the expression on his face. It was mixed with things she... didn't expect to see. Especially coming from Shura. In regards to his question, she looked over at him and said softly, "Yeah, I am... Just a bit tired, but fine otherwise." She paused a moment as she touched her chest where it had hurt before. Oddly, the pain was gone. Slowly, she took a deep breath as she momentarily closed her eyes, breathing in deeply to discover the pain was really gone. "Yes, my chest doesn't hurt." Then she watched as Shura got up to get what appears to be a medicine bowl...? Before she glanced back down at her legs. However, she glanced up when Shura spoke, before he had covered her legs back up. "No rush, " he murmured, leaning close as he coaxed her to drink. Sayuri had a questioning expression on her face before he made her open her mouth to drink. As the bitter liquid passed her tongue, and had finished all of the medicine, she held her mouth. "Wow, so bitter!" she exclaimed, surprise clear on her face. She drank some more water to wash it down. When she finished her glass of water, she turned to Shura as she seemed thoughtful before returning her gaze to the rabbit that was more then halfway on nibbling the carrot. She giggled softly as she said, "You'd laugh at the name though, because Resee and Jegan laughed at it. Well... Jegan was the one who got the rabbit..." |

He sat hunched on the roof, a dark still figure stark against the dimming, fiery sky. People, or rather, couples were slowly emerging from their homes to the village square, where beautiful arches twined with red roses stood. Bards were scattered sparsely around, their puffed up, colourful costumes winking when the light form torches hit them. They held the strangest instruments in their hands, thrumming and blowing through them. Music, miraculously pleasant one at that, floated in the air. The merry, yet romantic tunes were clear in his sharp ears. There were stalls decorated with countless red blossoms, hosting silly games. It was a wonder the adults liked to play at all. Those below him were exceedingly happy and all drunk with their lovestruck hearts. Inmoret festival. Shura wondered vaguely, if Mirai was out dancing with anyone. She had yet to find her sweetheart. Slipping a hand into his pocket, he pulled out a silver chain. A ring of gold hung from it and spun when he held it to his face. There was a dimond embeded into the slender band. Her engagement ring came in a pair, as with all the engagement rings that existed in Tenarin. Before he left for the Royal Grounds, Mirai had insisted that he take hers, while she kept his. A little silly indulgence of a not-couple they were. She had said if they were to fake it, may as well put up a good show. With a sheepish smile, Shura slung the chain around his neck and tucked it beneath his shirt. He should be in the attic, with Sayuri to keep watch over her. Especially today, when there were so many people about. Except... he thought it unfair... to spend time with her on this day. He... was attracted to her. It'd be much better to stay away, in case the myth of Inmoret affects his state of mind. Inmoret, was a day when lovers love. And they weren't lovers. Beneath, muted by the noise outside, a working lad skipped up the stairs with a silly grin on his face. He had been sending the food up the attic for the charming redhead under the Mistress's instructions. For the few days, he had never had the guts to ask her to go out with him to the Inmoret festival. Well, if he didn't ask now, there wouldn't a chance anymore. he had dressed decently, in his best clothes, in fact- a tunic with a dat cotten vest and brown pants. His short, golden brown curly hair was combed as neatly as he could into place. Bringing his knuckle to the door ro knock, he called, "Lady Sayuri?" Then a little more timidly, he asked, "Would you like to accompany me to the festival?" |

Sleepy Inspiration
|
Over the next three days, Sayuri had been put fully focus onto recovering from her illness the few days ago. She didn't want to trouble Tryst and Seryel any further by continuing to stay in the attic. Sure, it was nice that they were taking a break but Sayuri felt like they were stuck in a ditch, unable to go anywhere. She didn't want to delay her stay here any longer. After she had told Shura of how she came to possess Lancelot, she had been focusing all of her power into her legs. During the times when she awoke to find Shura asleep, was when she was awake and focusing her magic onto her legs to heal it. Of course, it was in a reserve first, but then it was going to be used at once for the healing of her legs. Then, just last night, she had successfully healed her legs, but it had drained her tremendously. Sayuri found it surprising that she had a fit of another coughing fit and now she was resting in the attic again, so that she would not work herself too hard. However, seeing as she had slept soundly the night before, she was well-rested and had been able to meditate so that her focus on her magic was coming back in floods. It relieved her of the stress that had built up over time in her body from the lack of exercise. Seeing as Shura was not in her room, for the first time since they had come to the Inn, Sayuri stood up for the first time in five days. A bit shaky at first, she began able to walk around steadily enough without falling. After a bit of that exercise, she began to jump around lightly and quietly as so to not disturb the other guests. She stretched and did mild exercises that stretched her tired muscles that soon burned with the small labor. Fully able to stand, she began to do some tai-chi to relieve her body of the feeling of being weak from recovering. However, halfway, she found herself too tired to carry on any further and had sat down back on the bed. She was wearing a gown, with small flower designs embedded into it. The upper half of the gown was a v-neck with thick straps that covered her shoulders and her lower half of the dress was the kind of dress that would fly up should she go and consider dancing. It was simplistic but it was elegant enough to wear to dances and the like and seeing as she had nothing else to wear as Seryel had taken all of her other clothes to wash, she was borrowing the female's dress. Sayuri then glanced out of the small window, suddenly surprised at the huge mass of people that loitered in what appeared to be a festival. There was lovely flowers everywhere and many couples around... Then she felt a slight pang in her chest and she wondered what it was. It was something... sad. What was it? Before she had the time to muse about it, she heard a knock. Bringing his knuckle to the door ro knock, he called, "Lady Sayuri?" Then a little more timidly, he asked, "Would you like to accompany me to the festival?" "Festival?" she murmured softly to herself. She knew that if she left, Shura would get angry again, and she didn't want to anger him. She opened the door to peer at the young man and noticed that he appeared to be well-dressed for one such as himself and she could see that he tried to comb his hair back. She held the door slightly ajar so she could look at the male. "There's a festival going on?" she asked, curiosity blooming on her delicate face. From recently staying inside, her skin had turned a soft and gently ivory color that made her hair appear a dark maroon, especially in the light she was in. Her eyes only appeared to be a burning fire that was soft with curiosity. "What kind of festival is it?" |

Dear Inmoret... she was breathtaking. He smiled brilliantly at her and straightened himself, a little self conscious of his own looks. There was no way his ordinary appearance could match her beauty. Perhaps her guard could... but they didn't appear to get along well. It was his luck, then! "The festival of Inmoret," he said, as if it was common knowledge. David hadn't the slightest idea that she was unfamiliar with it. In enthusiasm, he reached out and took her arm, tugging her gently along encouragingly. "Come on! It has already started. It'd be a good change. You've been up here for days." He lead her down confidently, happily. The employees and most of the customers were out. Some who remained... well they were probably getting laid. It was a horror to stay in the inn at this time... for him. He'd prefer taking a girl out with him and enjoy the festival. Maybe if all goes well, he could start wooing her. When he opened the door and lead her with a gentlemanly air out into the open, he dramatically flourished and arm towards the merry people and grinned at her, eyes bright with excitement. "Our village is small, so the festival might not be as fancy as those in towns. I still hope you'll enjoy it," he said hopefully. "With me?" ----------- Seryel ran, turned and ducked away from the couples in her way and pressed herself againts a pillar of roses. Her breath was coming in short gasps, but there was a smile on her lips. Her cheeks were flushed, a tint of soft pink on her naturally pale features. Oh there was no way she was going to make it easy for Tryst to catch her. She caught sight of several girls running and giggling, evading their lovers' grasp. From where she was, she could see some of the girls hiding as well. A granny, her hair white as snow was lurking mischievously behind a stall's door, just a few metres away from an elderly man- an old couple. They were actually playing along with the younger generation. She fought a chuckle and watched them adoringly. |
