"My lord-" the General began, his tone had remnants of concern that had been reflected previously on his face, but the hardness of a elite commander was still present. "Yes, I understand, General. The swifter, the better. You may take your leave with Shura." The King held up his hand to silence the General while his gaze flicked briefly to Shura's form. "I expect you to be more careful, Shura." A wave of cold nausea made him swallow once and he replied in a subdued voice, "Yes my lordship." He felt the other struggle underneath his control, writhing in rage against its bounds. It was weak now and Shura didn't have any difficulties suppressing it. However, the little hasty slip-up he made would cost him dearly if he wasn't punished. Techinically, it was the thing inside that should be subdued, but since it lay within.... He rose slowly and followed the General as he swept past, out of the hall. Jegan turned just slightly to cast a worried look at Shura, but quickly returned his gaze to the floor. His brows creased with concern and his jaws clenched at the thought of what was to come for his friend. It must be done.... "I am Sayuri, Mage of the Kingdom of Rania and I have come to search for the lost mage that had entered the Kingdom of Tenarin." A small pause before she continued, "And I am sorry for the disturbance that I may have caused or have caused, your Highness." "I hope you understand that it is at the cost of my people that I've allowed you here,' the King said coldly, though there was no contempt or distaste. "Apologizing isn't going to return me their trust. So I sincerely hope, while you are here, that you uphold your best conduct. I will appoint four of my best Knights to protect and aid you on your search. I'd like to make it clear that you are in no way, immune to the laws of Tenarin." He paused and looked at Jegan. "You will remain here, in the Royal grounds until the first captain in command is ready. Jegan will be your guard to ensure your safety. While I consent to have your presence here, there are others who wants you dead. If there are nothing else, you are dismissed." Edited by Seiss, Mar 20 2009, 10:26 PM.

"Yes, I understand, your Highness," she said again, her head bowed down. "Yes, I will remain here for the time being... And thank you." She bowed slightly again, her face showing nothing of that faltering last words that she said while being here. She left the throne room, feeling the stinging again in her eyes. She was going to be caged... again? She can't even explore without scornful looks from the maids, counselor members, and other staff that are around here. She wiped a stray tear from the edge of her eyes as she walked back to the room where she woke up in, feeling her eyes sting even more. So unfair. She had just escaped a castle with the same expressions in her home kingdom and she has to experience it again? Withdrawing her staff on the way to the room, she wiped away all the make-up on her face, walking into the room and then punching the wall, cracking it. She stopped as she looked at her fists, as they bled and then looked at the wall. Blankly, she waved her staff over the wall, making the crack disappear and then watched as her bleeding fist stopped and then heal itself with gentle blue sparks coming from it. She sat down on her bed, staring blankly at her fist and then released the tension that was in her hand, flexing it experimentally. She wondered if she could ever have peace, ever have that single moment where she could be free for a week, where she could freely shout and scream, and do whatever she pleases without anyone's critical eye on her. She felt as if she was being slowly suffocated, chained, and bound, unable to fly freely. She then pulled herself onto the bed further, leaning against the wall that was on the other side of the bed. She pulled her knees close to her, hugging them. She looked over at the door, wondering if Jegan had followed her... only remembering then the command that the King had given him. Her ruby eyes found his form, standing outside of her door, standing guard. She hadn't closed the door after herself and sighed. She'll just have to bear with everything, like she's always had. Sayuri got off the bed and then walked over to where the door was and stood next to Jegan. She peered up and asked, "What's going to happen to Shura...? Is he going to be punished for getting me here so quickly?" The question had been bugging her since she had gotten here. How had he gotten her here so quickly in such a short amount of time? There were two logical reasons she could think of and one of them being that he either flew or used magick. But the second option seemed highly unlikely as did the first, because there was no way he flew... Her thoughts flickered back to the gold-black feather she picked up. There was no way those two are in connection with each other... after all, what human could fly? She made her staff disappear in her hands, so one hand came up to the front of her chest and squeezed her fist together, suddenly anxious. She waited for his reply. He had followed quietly, aware of the distress the mage was going through. Jegan didn't understand it though, but so it goes for everyone else. Pausing at her door, he was about to close it for her when she punched a wall with so much force- anger and anguish- that it made him pause. He had to admit it was a suprise that a girl like her could have made a crack in a wall with a single blow. What are the Ranians capable of? When he saw blood on her hand, Jegan found himself dithering between helping her or leaving her deal with what she had made. There was an odd desire to help her bandage her wound.... Whoa, wait a minute, where did that come from? Appalled, Jegan turned around and stood stiffly by the door, determined to remain an appointed guard and nothing else. Nothing personal attached. "What's going to happen to Shura...? Is he going to be punished for getting me here so quickly?" Jegan shifted slightly, unused to standing suddenly so close to her. "Why would he be pusnished for that, my lady? He is simply needed else where for awhile." That was as much as he was willing to tell her. Any more... would put a strain on the curse. ---- He stood in the dimly lit cell, torso bare, wrist, waist and ankles chained to pegs embeded deep under the stone floor. Fear, not his own was causing cold sweat to break across his skin as he waited. The beast inside was cowering but not without a lethal menace that was still alive. "We are going to begin, Shura," the General's voice echoed from somewhere in the dark, this time, there was faint sympathy in his hard tone. Nodding mutely, he stood firm and clenched his teeth, awaiting the lashing pain that would soon tear across his flesh. Edited by Seiss, Mar 21 2009, 12:41 AM.

For some reason, Sayuri suddenly felt something in the air tighten, like a cork on a wine bottle as if it had gotten tight. But she shrugged it off, but kept it in mind, feeling that it might be something she could think about during a time when she might be bored or whatever. "I suppose so," she murmured, slightly suspicious. She looked up again from her thoughts and asked, "Do you have a courtyard where not many people go to?" Twilight was coming and it was time for her daily ritual of release of excess energy stored inside her, to vent any sort of anger out into her form as she exercised herself. It was the best time, when the sky was darkening, as if paint was spilled across a blank, blue canvas. It was her way of relaxing before turning in for the night. Pulling out her staff again, she touched it on her forehead, where a soft symbol glowed and faded as her clothes changed into something else; something that is comfortable for her to wear, clothes that were light, but still feminine enough to be called female clothing with pants and a shirt. She put away her staff then and when Jegan stayed in silence, she decided she'll go wander around and look for a garden where she can exercise. She found one, moments later, with high bushes around the garden, as if it were a maze. She ran forward, awed by the immense size of the garden and finding a spot where it was covered on the top with flowers and high bushes that were far above her head. The space was just enough for her to move about in a slow fashion and a few benches around it, lingering closely to the walls of the bushes. She stood in the center, as the sun began to set, closing her eyes as she took a deep breath before opening her ruby eyes and then moving in a slow motion, her eyes in pure concentration as her body moved slowly. (Tai chi basically) With short thrusts that occasionally appear, bursts of blue energy poured out of her hands and when they were hovering in the air, she moved it around herself like a form of art and special effects show, her fingers and body all moving in such an elegant form. Her hair was tied up, revealing the shine of the small amount of sweat that appeared on her face. When she was pulling into the last of the ritual, she pulled the blue energy apart, breaking it up into sparkling water crystals that rained down on her, cooling her off. She back at standing in the middle. |

OOC [I dunno where Sayuri is and it's better if you have the freedom of choice as to where to put her :3] Hurting... everywhere... the line between his shoulder blades. Blood streaming down his back had set the rune that was burned onto his back aglow. With his pain glazed mind drifting between consciousness and the void, he knew the fury of the beast would soon take over... and then the real agony would begin. The mat that he was lying on, on his front was coarse against his skin and there was the metallic stench of blood. He wasn't suprised when the smell of blood made him hunger. Footsteps.... He couldn't move and didn't want to. "Only the feathers between the shoulders have emerged, General." Someone's voice.... A heavy sigh and a voice that he recognized to be the General's, "Clean his wounds. I don't want them infected." There was a muffled reply before the metal hinges grated. He could hear something being dragged across the floor, feel the mild tremors of footsteps. The slightest tremble sent a painful wave through his head and he shifted uncomfortably in response. His breathing hitched when pain seared across his back, a groan stuck in his throat. Then he felt it- injured pride, hatred and unbridled fury- emotions that didn't belong to him. He heard the thudding heart of the approaching man, sensed the enticing...warmth of pulsing blood.... A sudden chilling touch on his back sent a jolt of electrical current through his body. Another bone crushing sensation and he was finally lost. Feathers of black and gold burst from his body, multiple cracks sounded simultaneously and within a split second, talons reached over and gripped the unsuspecting man. A strangled cry was forced back into his throat when the great griffin crushed him to the stone floor. Without a second's pause it dove its head to gouge out the dying man's beating heart and devoured it in a single toss of its feather crested head. However, before it was able to tear into the man's body, a branding iron in the shape of a rune, fresh and glowing from the fire was plunged onto its feathered back. A long piercing shriek of agony echoed through the underground.... ---- It was late morning and Jegan had just stepped onto the courtyard, mulling over the odd dance that the mage performed just the night before (was that how they cultivate... their magic?) when a bird's cry halted him in his steps. Anyone... who didn't know would have thought it was just one of the king's hunting flacon's cry, but he knew. He knew... that it came from not far away, and it didn't belong to a bird. His dear friend, suffering because of what was in him.... Edited by Seiss, Mar 21 2009, 06:44 AM.

Sleepy Inspiration

Sayuri woke up with a jolt, sweat pouring down the side of her face. She was breathing heavily and she sat in her bed, holding her face as her body shook. Was that a dream? It felt too real to not be one, she thought as she remembered the feathers, gold and black, if she remembered clearly. She picked up the gold and black feather she picked up the other day. Was this feather trying to tell me something? The images from the dream were blurry, remembering that a creature of the shape of a griffin was suffering. But that wasn't what woke her up, it was the sharp cry of a bird that woke her up, almost as if to alert her of something. The cry was sharp and it cut straight into her heart. All animals are more in-tune with mages of anything else, especially the magical ones. She covered her face with one hand, remembering the pain she felt especially when that Pegasus was hurt, being branded and whipped by the tormentor. She had barely enough time to save it and when she did, it had given her thanks before closing its eyes, leaving the world. Anytime an animal or magical animal especially, was hurt, they would show a nearby mage what they were going through, through their dreams and giving them sensations of what they were experiencing. Where they were was something that was always hard to find out. She cried out, her tattoo moving as if it were a snake, glowing and almost manifesting some sort of energy. It hurt... as if it were sucking the very life out of her. "Ugh," she gasped, her back feeling as if it were on fire. Occasionally, her tattoo would feel this way, but it was in the way of... protecting something? She didn't know. The woman who had always cared for her when she was young, had said something about the tattoo being her own good, but, at the time, she didn't even have a tattoo on her back yet. It didn't appear until she had stepped into the royal palace back in Rania. She staggered out of bed, wiping a desk clear as she tried to keep herself standing. The tattoo was burning hard, almost as if it was leeching everything Sayuri had in herself, but she knew it would calm itself down if she were to take a dip in cold water, but she felt that that might not happen. She pulled out her staff and changed her clothes from the night gown she wore to something else, to clothes that would more or less cover her back, but still elegant enough to be what the clothes the ladies would call it nice. Groaning, she stepped out on to the balcony, wondering if that falcon cry was not a falcon cry, but a magical creature's cry. After all, she just had a vicious dream about one. But she couldn't see the creature at all, just a mass of gold and black feathers. The wind that blew passed her felt incredibly helpful as she managed to take a breath of fresh air, clearing her body of ill feelings. But it wasn't enough to stop her from taking ragged breaths, her back feeling as if it were burning the very flesh off her bones. "Excess magick, is that what it is? Too much of it that it's hurting me?" she wondered aloud, pulling her arms close when another wave of attack lunged on her, causing her to call out with pain. She fell to the ground, her fists holding onto her chest or pendant that she wore. She knelt there, holding herself as if she was trying not to be ripped apart. Her ragged breathing continued until the burning subsided and she was able to stand up, despite wobbling slightly. She walked over to the door and opened it, then stepped out and then closed it, discovering that Jegan wasn't guarding the door like last time. She changed her hair and eye colors so that she wouldn't stand out, especially in a new castle. She even pulled up a small veil of magick that made her seem plainer than usual, so as to not arouse the pathetic gossip that tends to go around. A maid walked by, and with surprise, the maid did the ceremonious bow and then left, not with that ugly look they often had, but one with an indifferent expression. Silently, she cheered. No more scorning until she left the castle. Cheerful now, she headed towards the courtyard, to her surprise, found Jegan there. Giggling, she walked over to him and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hello, Jegan," she said with a smile. If someone were to try hard enough, they would see the veil of magick hiding her appearance of someone plain to her usual little, pretty self. "It's a good morning, yes?" Although, that bird cry still perturbed her tremendously, though, she kept that worried expression away for another time. |

He was too occupied, staring blankly off to the distance that he barely heard her laughter. Her light tap on his shoulder brought his attention back to the present. A frown of confusion creased his brows when he found himself staring at a strangely familiar girl, yet he didn't recognize her. "Hello, Jegan.... It's a good morning, yes?" The mage? He retreated a step hastily and bowed. "Good morning, my lady. It's a pleasant morning indeed." Formal... but he couldn't help himself when his mind was truly elsewhere. Formality was something he could easily slip into, like an automaton. He hoped it didn't sound too distant... otherwise, from what he had seen from the previous day- the mage was a brittle little thing. "Have you any plans, my lady?" he asked, putting on his polite smile. "The two Knights whom the King had appointed were supposed to meet your ladyship today, but there was an urgent matter they had to look after. I hope a day's wait isn't too long?" |

Immediately, she noticed the distant response, blushing slightly at the bow. "Y-You don't have to bow to me," she muttered, slightly embarrassed. She looked at him, realizing that he was having his mind elsewhere, after all, he was acting the way she did when she was deeply thinking about something else as it was always easy to be formal with someone when you can also begin to think about something else. Something inside of her felt uneasy, and the dream still hadn't faded away like most dreams usually do. The feelings were still raw on her skin... She shook it off quickly when he asked what were her plans for the day. Then he mentioned the other two rune knights that were coming along with. I wonder if they're going to be male or female? she thought for a moment, before turning her attention back to Jegan. "Well, I'm ready to meet them whenever they are ready, I wouldn't want to impose on them," she said, frowning slightly. "Although, I'm probably already am so it'd be pointless of me to even say that." She sighed. "Well... I guess I'm just going to go into the library to read some stuff, seeing as if I practice my magick here, people here would just want to kill me or shoot bad looks at me." She twitched slightly before turning on her heel. "Where's the library or shall I have to go explore the castle myself to find it?" |

"Y-You don't have to bow to me," she muttered, slightly embarrassed. He tilted his head curiously when she blushed and chuckled quietly after. "It's a common etiquette we are all expected to show whenever we greet our charge, lords or ladies. It is expected that I bow to you. Perhaps our culture is too... formal to you?" A slight pained smile tugged the edge of his lips when he caught the faint despair in her tone. The mage loves magic.... Just like how he loves to study the ancient runic magic. "The people here... do not trust magic, especially magic that the people of Rania utilizes," he said hesitantly. "I do know a place, however, where you can probably use your magic freely. But let me show you the library first." Jegan crossed the courtyard and headed towards one of the stone arcs that led into the connected buildings of the Royal grounds. "Come." He paused to beckon her, ensuring that she was astride him where he could see her before he continued forward, through the extensive first hall, into passage ways and up a few flights of grand stairs. They had passed a few people- mainly the guards, then some in fine robes, either hurrying about or leisurely crossing the floors. Just at the end of the corridor was a dimly lit flight of stairs that twisted upwards. He continued up, occasionally glancing back to see if she was following, or if she had any trouble. When they had finally emerged onto a balcony, Jegan stood at the golden rails and extended a hand outwards. "This is the mid-level of the Grand library of the Royal grounds." His face was masked with silent facination, wonder, pride and a small wistful smile touched his lips. The structure of the library was gigantic, majestic. The dome above had a clear glass, rimmed with colourful stained glass that depicted horsemen and fantastical beings. Like a massive birdcage, the curved walls were lined with books and scrolls. Several balconies stretched around like rings above and below. Paths of marbles stretched from several levels to converge, forming platforms- places where tables and chairs stood. Some green robed people were about and bustling on the first floor, piling books, passing pages. Jegan frowned slightly when he saw a group of them clustered together, ushering a boy through a door. It was too far to see what appeared... off about him, but one of the possible reasons could be due to the fact that the boy was staggering along like a drunk. Well... and I thought I'd get a break from worrying.... Edited by Seiss, Mar 22 2009, 05:30 AM.

"It's a common etiquette we are all expected to show whenever we greet our charge, lords or ladies. It is expected that I bow to you. Perhaps our culture is too... formal to you?" "It's not that, it's just I'm not used to people actually bowing to me, per say, after all, many didn't really treat me like royalty," she said, shifting slightly. She paused as he replied to her comment on where she could practice her magick, and her eyes lit up for the first time since coming here. She followed after him, happy that no one gave her a second look as many would have back at her home castle. For once, she felt lighter than before, glad that no one actually gave her a look of distaste or of something of jealousy or anything that relates with bad emotions. The castle was beautiful, gorgeous even. She followed him up the stairs until he lead her out onto a balcony, overseeing many rows of books as well as the overall design of the place. It was absolutely stunning. The art and the way everything was line up in the library was absolutely gorgeous and she fell in love with books all over again, feeling happy that these books were taken such good care of. "I'm glad to see that the library here is beautiful," she whispered, her awe still in her eyes as they skimmed the walls until she came to see a bunch of robed people ushering someone away. She tilted her head in questioning. "Are they supposed to do that and is that guy that they're ushering off supposed to be acting like that?" she asked, her voice soft as if something bugged her about it. Although, her mind at the moment was full of thoughts about the library's book collection and what she might find inside them, but part of her nature was to notice suspicious things, such as what the green robed people below had just done and it was done out of pure habit, from living around deceitful people all of the time. "That didn't look right..." she added a few moments later, as if it were an afterthought, her voice depicting that she was slightly worried. |
