Resee didn't know what to say. Thank the mage? But that didn't feel appropriate. So she settled with a smile of her own. Even if Sayuri poured her heart out to her and added more "burden" on her shoulders, Resee doubted she would notice the extra weight herself. It didn't matter as much, because she was still numbed. It wouldn't matter to her either, if she wasn't. She would still listen to the mage anyway. Resee could hardly deny a request for help. Keira said once, that her nature would be one major factor contributing to an early death.

She came forward and took the mage's hand. "I will stay with you," she assured. "You don't have to worry about my rune. I am purely defensive. I can easily trade deflecting for shielding."

Sayuri smiled again, before turning to straighten her head and close her eyes. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, a rather strange blue symbol appeared on her forehead, like a lock as the symbol faded and then suddenly, her body jerked and had a slight spasm as if trying to fight the memories that were retaking its hold on her body. She groaned as the memories had also unlocked what her body was feeling as well.

Pushing passed those walls she had built, they easily disappeared as she had the strong will to conquer the fear she had. It wasn't to forget her caretakers, and it certainly wasn't because she wanted to disrespect them either.

She had been at a really young age, but she remembered everything that happened in absolute detail, because she had locked it accidentally after it had happened and she had become a nearly normal girl, aside from her magical powers that is.

"Sayuri dear, come in here before you catch a cold," a rough voice said that sounded clearly like her father... but wasn't. Somehow, somewhere deep inside her knew that they were not her real parents. It was a rather depressing idea, to not know who here parents were, whether they were alive or not, but still, she felt a lot of love from them and she to them. She smiled and ran inside, giggling as she smelled the scent of bread in the air.

Sayuri had been getting ready for bed, when that came. Her "mother" caretaker had been reading her a story about a bird finding its partner. Sayuri remembered the ending well... Her mother had shoved her into the closest small closet and that was when she remembered that that closet had been the one for when situations was going to get out of hand...

That was when the father came in, closing the door behind him, whispering quickly, "Please tell me you've hidden her." She nodded grimly and Sayuri instantly felt the sudden dread of something sucking the soul out of her, but from where, she didn't know. All she knew was that it was the feeling of something horrible nearby. At that young age, her magic had only started flourish only a little bit, not enough to point where Sayuri could play with anything with it. It was so meager, it was lower than her "parents," by themselves.

"He's going to come here tonight, I don't know when, but he's going to come for her," the father said again, so briskly, so pained that he sounded as if he was deathly afraid of what was going to happen. However, the expression on his face was of pure determination. "We must protect her." The mother nodded, crying softly. He pulled her into his arms and embraced her. To the surprise of Sayuri, she watched them exchange a rather deep and loving kiss before they parted. Not having known any meaning what it was, she had thought that whatever it was, it must have been precious until she grew up and learned what it was. But that matter didn't matter at the moment, she only felt the fear for whatever was coming, every nerve in her cell screamed at her to run. And then, a rather loud crack snapped in the air, as if something had broken as she heard the pieces of the door's remains hit the floor. It had been the front door...

Then, all she heard was an explosion every so often of magic, and she knew that whatever was going on, the house was falling into shambles. She was scared and she thought she heard a scream tear through the home. Suddenly, the parents reappeared in the room, ragged and hurt as they seemed to be bleeding. Sayuri's eyes widened, scared now that her caretakers were hurt. Then the door exploded, its splintered pieces littered the room.

"Where is she?" he hissed, looking at them, his back turned towards her. Her caretakers only answered back something about not knowing where she was that she had wandered off. Then in a massive blur of events, Sayuri had closed her eyes in that moment before she reopened them again, watching with horror as the man had started to rip her caretakers bodies apart, splattering blood all over the room, the broken pieces dropping to the floor with a thud. The grin... on his face, was horrible... he smiled as he kept tearing out their body and whatever was inside. She let out a soft cry of which she immediately covered her mouth.

He suddenly looked up directly at her.

Sayuri was screaming bloody hell now, her mind and body all tensed as magical sparks flew about her body, her hand gripping tightly as if her magic wanted to protect her from what was about to happen next. Tears rolled down her face. All Resee could see was this, nothing from what Sayuri was seeing at all.

He released whatever he was holding and walked over towards where she was and opened the door. Her heart was racing and pounding against her chest so loudly that he would not see her in the darkest corner of the closet, but, he did. He grabbed her and she screamed, crying and jerking her body so that she might get free.

"Oh ho ho ho, they lied," he said, smiling growing even more.

Her eyes darted around the room and all she saw was the splatters of blood all over the room.
Her room. She glanced back at the man before her, holding her up as he left the room and down the stairs.

"You are going to become rather fun to toy with when you get older, but right now, you're just annoying... so I'll wait until your powers have come to full blossom, so until then, you're free," he smirked, putting her down. "My dear little red mouse, just because they're your caretakers and that they have had a massive amount of magic thrown at me, it does not mean that your powers are going to exceed theirs... It's going to explode passed theirs." Suddenly hearing the alarms going off, he ran off into the darkness of the night just as the "police" showed up. Her heart had stopped... for those moments he was holding her, talking to her... as if she were his
pet. She couldn't breathe and suddenly blacked out just as the police walked over.

Sayuri had stopped screaming now... her body only relaxing slightly but her grip remained strong... as if there was more... Her other hand gripped the sheets so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Her hand that was holding Resee seemed to squeeze every so often as if to check she was there.

Her memories suddenly swam as she remembered what he had been doing the entire time she was training, she had discovered through those unlocked memories, that he had been the main reason for why she was lonely at the training, the reason why for how she lost her mother... her real mother, whom she had discovered after she had woken up...

At this moment, she had become restless, her eye brows trying to keep focus of herself as it fidgeted. Sweat had began to appear on her forehead and face as she tried to keep herself together, to keep herself from falling apart now that she completely remembered. The rest of the memories had only rushed by, the chains that continued throughout was clear. He had disappeared with his 666th murder that night, her parents being the last two. That in itself was a bad omen, as if it was the entire reason he was killing so that he could become the infamous Devil murderer.

She opened her eyes slowly, squeezing Resee's hand again as if for reassurance. "Thank you," she whispered hoarsely. Sayuri was drenched with sweat now, finally relaxed now that it was over. She hadn't overcome her fear completely, but she was at the point of understanding what is to fear and what is to not. If she was afraid of something, she had every right to be afraid of it. But she had been so scared for the sole reason of because of the words he had said, about her being his toy.

Sayuri tried to sit up, but the room spun as she fell forward...

At first, the currents of mana came in lapping waves, just touching film of the ever existing sensory shield over her entire being. It was easy to simply convert Sayuri's magic to fuel her own defensive rune. The shield eventually formed and fed on the energy that touched it. Instead of feeling the constant flow of mana, Resee was separated from it, while her shield kept the link.

When the mage started screaming, however, she nearly panicked. Resee had thought someone attacked them- assassins, or the embassadors. She had moved protectively closer, her free arm gripping her shoulders and eyes searching Sayur's body for any sign of injury. Resee had nearly left her alone so she could get help. The tight hold on her hand kept her there. She recalled Sayuri mention something about the probability of screaming.

Fortunately, the screaming didn't last long. Lost with that to do and doubtlessly frightened for the mage's safety, she pursed her lips and waited anxiously for Sayuri to open her eyes.

A sigh of relief rushed past her lips when the mage looked at her and spoke. "It's alright," she replied in kind, worry still etched on her small frown. 'You're welcome' didn't feel appropriate.

She was ready when the mage started to fall forward. Extending her free arm, she caught the mage in the crook of her arm by the mage's waist. Before she could ask if Sayuri needed a healer, the door burst open.

The King and two Rune Knights rushed in. There was no need for words. The severe expression on the King's face and the fierce light in the Knights' eyes all searched for the reason or source of the screaming they heard.

Sayuri looked extremely pale and her skin slick with sweat as she looked up wearily towards the sound of the door opening. Her irises were changing color from blue, red, green, and gold as if still trying to find something stable in her magic. Blue sparks of magic still fizzled from her as if blue lightning had been left behind, the blue sparks reaching out as far as to the other side of the room in a long, angular streak.

"I-I-I'm sorry," she managed to say, her voice sounded as if it were a mixture of someone else's voice. "I had... to... revisit... my locked... memories..." At the word memories, the magic sparked again as Sayuri tried to keep her eyes open, the energy of revisiting such an event drained at least half of her energy. Her irises still continued to flicker different shades of color as she looked at the king. Taking a deep breath, her body shuddered and tried to stand up only to wobble again. Closes her eyes for a moment to focus on her magic... to make it so that it does not go loose.

For a moment, the blue sparks continue to fly until they stopped and then disappeared into her body. She still seemed pale and tired but there was a fire burning in her ruby eyes, as if determined to keep her magic at bay until she can sleep... that or...

"Sorry about the screaming," she managed to say, voice sounding considerably stronger now. "Your highness, may I tell you of the only person I fear that you should know about?"

Resee held fast and helped to steady the mage. The sparks emitting from her body- wether they were harmful or not- had no effect on her. The invisible shield her rune conjured that stretched like a film over her body fed on the sparks. Resee could feel it grow stronger- growing thicker, pushing out- till a think layer of air that separated her own skin from Sayuri's.

Carefully, Resee set her down to sit at the edge of the bed.

The King regarded her wordlessly before giving Resee an meaningful glance. The Knights at his side relaxed. "Make sure she gets any medical attention she needs and proper rest." Then looking pointedly at the mage, he continued, "I would strongly suggest, that you contribute to the effort of maintaining your health, Lady Sayuri. If all is well, you will leave on your search tomorrow." And he left, with the two Knights in tow.

"My lady?" Resee watched them leave uneasily. Why didn't her Lord choose to stay and listen? "How are you feeling?"

Sayuri sighed and felt her legs wobble when she sat down on the bed. Well, now at least she knew when was something dangerous was going to come. Her health would be in proper shape soon, all she needed was some meditation. Despite the fact that she may need sleep, meditation keeps her health at a very high level. If she did not do it, her mind would be chaotic right now with the voices of too many people and the voices of too many animals.

Though, the king hadn't listened to what she had said. It's fine. As long as Sayuri has more or less remembered everything about him, it was going to be fine. But he posed such a threat... It was going to be risky not telling the king. She just hoped he would listen before she left because she was sure that he was going to do something.

"I'll be fine," Sayuri said softly. "I just need a moment of some meditation to re-energize myself. That was thoroughly draining." She took a deep breath and found herself steady when she stood up to walk. She sat down in the middle of the room and crossed her legs over under her gown. "Don't worry, I've pushed my body further than this before so this is nothing compared to what they've made me go through." She smiled over at Resee before turning forward again and then closing her eyes.

When she started to meditate, a bird appeared at the window and several more smaller ones. Eve was off somewhere in the castle sleeping... Although, she had been watching the events of Sayuri going through her Locked memories. Hence why she was sleeping. Sayuri took a deep breathe and began to meditate. The birds outside pecked at the window before taking off again, as if telling whoever was in the room to open the window for while she was meditating. Soon, blue slivers of energy flowed in from the outside and came in from underneath the door of the room. The energy encircled Sayuri as if wrapping her in a soft silk cocoon. Soon, the paleness of her skin had come back to her original ivory skin color and maybe more as it became slightly darker. The sweat that had been on her skin had evaporated and replaced her skin with something to made her skin look smoother.

The blue slivers had disappeared by the time Sayuri reopened her eyes. She stretched up and then stood up again. It had only been about ten to twenty minutes that passed. "Resee?" she called to her, in case Resee had drifted off to something while Sayuri was meditating.

She nodded a little absently to the mage. Her eyes strayed to wards the door, her mind lingering on her Lord's expression. It wasn't until Sayuri sank into her meditation, did she realize that the Rune Knights who were with him had black cloaks on instead of their usual red.

Her heart gave a little jolt against her ribs and a hot stinging entered her eyes. She barely gave the little birds any notice when they rapped at the window. Resee was going to open it anyway. Un hooking the latch, she pushed at the glass. Bells from a spire not far away chimed a muted tune- a farewell song families used to sing when their family members prepared to leave for war. It was also the same song, that they would sing to the fallen. It wasn't too long ago, when the bells of the spire chimed- when the demon massacred more than half of the Rune Knights' Order.

Now it chimed again.

The King could have informed her earlier, so she could go. Why didn't he? She should be there. Not here.

Hurt and loss lanced through her as she gazed at the white spear that pointed skyward. The sweet chiming managed to take away the melancholy of the Goodbye melody. But she could still taste the bitter bile at the back of her throat. Goodbye was too final. There would be no more after.

"Resee?"

She spun in her place, by the window. The mage's voice, though soft, was sudden. Resee couldn't smile, so she simply looked at her. "Should I let you prepare for our journey?"

Sayuri looked at the female before her, wondering if she had done something wrong. That expression of guilt flickered across her face as if in wondering had she done something wrong. "Did I do something wrong? Are you all right?" she asked, frowning.

"Should I let you prepare for our journey?"

"Um... I suppose so," she said softly, looking at Resee with an expression that had the sense of feeling worried. She heard the sad melody being played and then walked over to the window to peer outside.

"What's going on?"

She tried, she really did. But she couldn't reassure the mage with a smile. A whisper of air escaped her parted lips. It sounded like a sigh, it was actually Resee's failed attempt to force any sound from her tight throat. Swallowing, she nodded feebly.

"...I will let you pack, then," she managed to whisper. She couldn't quite feel her feet as she moved towards the door.

"What's going on?"

"Hmm?" She felt herself pause, not understanding what Sayuri was referring to.

Sayuri looked back at Resee and pointed out the window.

"I hear music... a melody coming from... that spire over there," she said, pointing towards it. "What's going on over there? Why is the melody sounding as if it's going to say goodbye?"
