"The guards will lead you to your rooms, gentlemen. Your refreshments will be waiting there," the General said fluidly, as if he had been saying the same line for countless times. Which was probably true. The Tenarin King had always appointed the caretaker to prepare rooms for any of his guests. Upon their arrival, they would always be given the choice to either rest, or see him right away. It may have been rude to not dine with them, but the Tenarin King had no diplomatic intentions. Not that he was particularly unpleasant towards the other rulers, but the General had observed that his King never liked falsified gestures. If anything, they irked him. Countries may either ally, or mark Tenarin as their enemy at will. Though most preferred the former. After all, Tenarin was famed for their counter magics.

With a bow, the Royal Guards complied and gestured for the embassadors to follow them.

-----

"Is something wrong?" Resee asked with a frown. She didn't think it was possible for the fair-skinned mage to pale, but she did.

Jegan, as the second Captain command, he had to leave them and call a daily meeting with the Runes Knights stationed within the Royal Grounds. Just daily reports to see what happened in the vast grounds. The rebels had not tried to infiltrate the place so far, most probably due to them. But they had to remain vigilant.

-----

The General swept down the stone steps briskly. His nerves were strung tight from what he had heard, accoding to the dungeon keeper (a Researcher, but he felt the foul name befits him). Apparenly, Shura was able to will his body back into a human's for a brief moment before returning back to the monstrous beast. But the beast itself was showing signs of weakening. The burning rune didn't seem to work on it anymore, though.

He stopped at the bars of the cell, a little torn to see the great beast's condition. But the dead, bloodied lamb that appeared mangled brought more disgust. The griffin lay lifeless on its side in a corner, glassy eyes staring at the lamb with an empty gaze and its beak agape. There was something red- it held a tiny red lump of something in its claw. Compared to the griffin's size, the thing was extremely tiny. The General could have missed it if the griffin hadn't held it close to its chest, as if it was something precious.

Frowning, with a faint trace of revulsion, the General looked at the gapin hole ripped off the lamb's chest.

A heart. The griffin was holding on to the lamb's heart.

Dominic and Alastor nodded their thanks to the General and followed the Royal Guards to their chambers. When they reached it, they both were able to completely refresh themselves.

They closed their windows, feeling a bit paranoid, if one let them be... then again, they were in a country who didn't like them in the first place so the both of them wanted to be safe.

They began to speak, to talk to each other...

"You're going to see her?"

"Of course, that's mostly the main reason why I came here."

"Why do this? She's already seen enough of you back at the castle."

A bit of silence followed for a moment before the person replied, "Because she is my bird, my pet, my little toy to play with should I ever feel bored."

The other person merely just shook their head, sad that Sayuri had to face this person again after so long.

~~~
"I-I'm fine, really," she lied, her hands shaking, but she hid them in her sleeves. She was genuinely afraid. She never wanted to see him again, never. She had hoped that leaving the castle would be rid of him for good, for she suspected that she will never have to see him for a long, long time.
She paused for a moment, wondering if she should tell Resee. She looked at Resee, fear clear in her eyes as she said with a shaky voice, "I think he's here... along with the Negotiator... that or he is the negotiator." She clutched at her chest, as if holding down the heart that seemed to pound hard against her ribs, hoping that it would not break out as she began to sweat nervously.
"You are not fine," Resee insisted with a frown. No one who was 'fine' shook like that. Not in her knowledge anyway.
Negotiator? Did she miss something? "Lady Sayuri, deep breaths. Who are you talking about? Why are you so afraid?" Whoever the negotiator was, he or she was probably wouldn't bring any good. If she could, Resee wanted to know as much as possible about the said person. In her years of experience, preparation never hurt. If this was someone from Rania, they ought to be careful as well.
"Lady Sayuri." A guard came. "His Majesty wishes to see you in the Grand Hall."
Nodding dismissively to the guard, Resee said to him, "We will be there in a moment." The mage needed some time to regain her composure.
Sayuri listened to Resee, finding it oddly comforting that she's talking to her. She sighed softly, but her shaking would not cease. She took Resee's advice and tried to take deep breaths, her breathing haggard and sharp as she tried to breathe properly.
After a few minutes, she finally managed to calm herself down, but her face was still pale and devoid of anything other then fear. She looked to Resee and whispered, "There's a negotiator coming with his guard to try to talk to the King of Tenarin to letting me stay and also probably apologize for their mistake... negotiate the terms that had me come here originally."
She paused, her shaking still there as she tried to refocus herself, to keep herself calm. "I'm afraid because this is the man who... who... k-k-killed... m-my..." She couldn't go on, as the memories flooded her mind. She held her head between her hands, hyperventilating.
She took another few shaky deep breaths, haggard, shaky and sharp but, finally able to completely calm herself. As long as she thought of something else, then she was fine but she didn't know for how long she can manage that... for that man brought fear straight into her heart, to her very core. She desperately wished secretly that Shura could be there, so that she could feel safer. This was an unconscious wish and she didn't know what was going to become of her when she met the man again...
She whispered with a shaky voice, holding onto Resee's hand like a small girl, "A-As long as you're with me... I-I'll be fine..." She did indeed feel safer here than anywhere else. In Rania, she felt as if she were constantly watched but here, she felt freer than she ever had.
She picked up the pouch that would hold Lancelot, and she scooped him up and placed him inside the bag, feeling more reassured that he was there with her. She would have brought Eve too, but she too, hated the man.
"We mustn't keep the king waiting, Resee," she murmured, beginning to walk towards the door.
She listened, albeit with a slight difficulty. Why wasn't the man punished? Was he some important person in Rania? She wanted to ask. Resee felt a little lost with no knowledge to the person the mage feared. But she knew better than to push. Sayuri didn't look like she could answer any of her questions right then. So she remained silent, while thinking of possible precautions. For the most powerful mage of Rania to fear the man, he must be formidable. That or he held great authority.
Where was Shur- She stiffened at the line of thought, mild confusion crossing her mind. That was a subject she had been avoiding. Resee didn't know what to feel- didn't know what she should feel toward the Captain. It had to wait. This wasn't the time. She could try and sort everything out later, when she could be alone.
"I'll be there," she assured the mage. "I am sure a few of us would be there with you as well. The our King wouldn't allow any harm to befall you here. They have no power over us or you while they are in our land."
She followed the mage. The King was already there. A long table of stained glass had appeared, along with the long line of chairs. He was seated at the extreme end, his chin rested on knuckle of a raised arm that rested on the armrest. His eyes were fixed on one of the windows, but Resee knew that he was aware of their presence. There Inscriptors were there with him, seated on either side. They were watching the pair with a calculated gaze.
There were no one else, however, who appeared unfamiliar to her. Resee only guessed that the negotiators had not arrived. "My Lordship," she greeted the King wth a bow.
Turning his gaze to Resee, he gave her a grave nod, before motioning to the mage to sit next to Aurus. Resee followed and stood dutifully behind the designated chair.
Sayuri walked into the room, remembering that one of the Inscriptors was Aurus, the one who branded the griffin...
The griffin, it brought back her theories but she would rather not mention them. At all. Especially since Aurus and the other Inscriptor must be the ones responsible for... the griffin and such... reminding Sayuri of the slash marks and wounds on Shura's back the day she healed him. She flinched at the memory, remembering the wounds made her itch to do something about them but she remembered more or less that she had already... healed... them...
She entered the room with a curtsy to the king before sitting down where he motioned her to sit. She sat down and froze. She lost her color again as it completely drained but she remained resolute to not start shaking and she was successful that much.
Dominic and Alastor entered, looking as if they had just awoke from a nap, refreshed. They both bowed respectfully before taking their places across from where Sayuri sat. No one else noticed but Sayuri as one of them spared a single glance at Sayuri, causing her to flinch rather badly. She glanced back at Resee for reassurance, to make sure that she was there before settling down to look at the king.
Then both parties waited for the king to speak up, as he is the host to this little meeting.
"Welcome to Tenarin," the King began. "I am aware you have come to re-negotiate the terms to let your mage stay?" He was aware of the mage's discomfort and to him, that was a suprise. Nothing as revealed on the indifferent mask he always wore when strangers were involved.
Resee offered Sayuri a faint smile of reassurance, before turning her wary gaze on the two Embassadors. The icy one, with cool piercing features placed her on edge. The other, less... imposing man appeared less dangerous. She knew of course, that she shouldn't judge them by their looks. Strangers from a foreign land- she knew nothing of what they were capable of. Best to take utmost caution.
"Your names- how should we address you?" the King spoke again.
Aurus and Orion remained silent, knowing well not to overstep their bounds. They were never against the King, nor was there any reason to be. However, they would advise the King to the benefit of Tenarin, no matter how inhumane their reasons. They had done it before and they would very well do it again. For themselves and Tenarin.
Dominic nodded and replied, "Yes, you can call me Lord Dominic, and this is Alastor, my bodyguard." To those witnessing, one would be wondering and curious as to why Alastor was the one guarding Dominic, for Alastor did not have a single spec of magic in him.
Alastor bowed his head respectfully towards the king as he was introduced. His cool, piercing gaze glanced about the room for a moment and landed on Sayuri before he turned away. Dominic did the same, before he turned back to the king.
"Yes, we are here to renegotiate the terms to allow Mage Sayuri to stay," Dominic agreed.
Sayuri had decided that she needed to keep her hands busy as to not become overly nervous and lose herself. She picked out her bag a small piece of cloth and began to sew by hand, keeping herself busy and calm enough so that she would not distress over the fact that he was here.
"Lady Sayuri and I have already discussed the issue. I would have sent a letter to inform you were it not for the fact that you're already on your way here," the King explained. "I apologize for you in convinience, Lord Dominic."
Resee had noticed that the mage was busying herself over something under the table. The King didn't seem to notice, or perhaps he had purposefully granted her a leeway. He rarely missed anything at all.
"Ah, is that so," Dominic said, looking thoughtful. "Then, I guess we shall go soon, in a few days time, I suppose." A pause before he spoke up again, "We'll rest for a day or two here before we are on our way so that Mage Sayuri may be off to do whatever is requested of her."
Sayuri just continued what she was doing, not fidgeting as much as before as she started to calm down a bit more albeit a bit tense still.
