The general had revealed to him that it was the Inscriptors who wanted him to be healed and the king had agreed to it as well. But it didn't clear his worry- he could feel it, as if his soul was sitting right next to it in his mortal body. Shura couldn't understand the logic behind their instructions. The torture had worked flawlessly for more than a decade- why break the trend? The king would have wanted his sufferings to stop, but he could hardly believe that he Inscriptors truly cared. Immersed in his thoughts, he mind took a little longer to recognize the red haired girl he was staring at. Sayuri? He frowned. Why was she looking so dejected? And why in hell was there no guard with her? His sharp eyes caught a glimpse of reddish rivulets on one of her arms and it looked like blood. "Lady Sayuri?" he called as he approached. "Who or what did that to you?" |

Sayuri looked up at Shura, who had approached her as she was walking towards her room. Her anger still clouded her mind when he did. She hid her arm behind herself, wincing in pain when she did. Her magic began to lick her wounds, only to find that it wasn't working as the blood dripped down her arm. She stared down at the ground, clearly trying to clear her thoughts from being angry, only coming out in a somewhat shaky voice as she tried to suppress her anger, "It's nothing that you should concern yourself with." If he were to decide to look into her eyes, he would see that her ruby eyes were flaming, as if there was a fire behind them. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Thanks for everything..." She bowed slightly, before turning and continued her path to the door. She pulled out her bloodied arm from behind, the dizzy spells beginning to start as she faltered while walking. She pulled up her sleeve, revealing a lovely wound that bled a steady crimson stream from it. The shape appeared to be that of an explosion, like fireworks from the center point. It won't stop bleeding, she realized, before another dizzy spell washed over her vision, causing her to stumble. |

He felt the beast stir and the fragrance of blood instantly hit his nose. For a brief, frantic moment, he froze and held his breath, wishing and by god- praying that the beast wouldn't emerge. It would kill her- kill the mage. Then a strange, pleading- whatever it was inside was docile, asking him for somesort of permission he didn't understand. Shura breathed in, testing to see if it was a trick. He stared ahead in bewilderment when no blood-thirsty impulse possessed him. The same quiet plea remained, willing him and pushing him to move towards the mage. So he did. He went after her, with the same puzzled expression. His own hand reached forward without his command and with a tenderness he didn't know he possessed, took the wrist of her uninjured arm. What are you doing, creature? He wanted to ask, but the monstrous presence merely sent him an odd wave of assurance. Almost saying "let me show". His face had confusion written all over, but Shura obliged, albeit with slight suspicion. Gently, he led the mage into her room and left her by a chair. He didn't speak, but a flicker behind his eyes that didn't belong to his soul told her to sit. Then he turned with a sort of calming grace and pulled out bandages from a drawer. And he returned, once again wordlessly staring into her eyes with an affection that wasn't his and took her injured arm. The beast wanted him to dress her wound- it didn't know how and was asking him to help. Stunned, but at the same time, facinated, Shura pushed up her sleeve hesitantly and began wiping the blood off her skin. Whenever he pressed too hard, the presence would hiss indignantly and tell him to lighten his touch. |

Sayuri blinked, her anger disappearing instantly as Shura led her into the room, surprised and bewildered as to why Shura was doing this. She had glanced up at his expression once, to find it that he was confused. Then she was puzzled. Why was he doing this? When he had taken her wrist, she felt shocked when she felt that he was handling her with the utmost surprising tenderness that she didn't know that Shura could be. He led her to a chair and when she glanced up at his eyes, she found it that it told her to sit. She raised an eye-brow, questioning it but sat down anyway. This didn't feel like the Shura she has come to slowly know, although for a few days. For some reason, she felt calmer than before as she watched with an interested expression at what Shura was doing. For some reason, she felt doubtful. Didn't he hate me in the first place? she thought mildly as she realized he was going through a drawer. He pulled out bandages and she felt stunned. When he returned, she flushed pink when she realized he was gazing at her with affection. This isn't right, he doesn't think of me that way.... What on earth? she thought. Didn't he think that I was already someone to be suspicious of? Didn't he disregard me as someone he...? She was probably just as confused as Shura was. She grimaced when he lifted up her sleeve again, displaying the bloody wound. She watched Shura clean her wound. "Why?" she whispered, confusion entering her voice. |

It made him focus on wrapping her wound and only when he was done, did it make him reply, "Come... come back," there was a strain, a desperate, sorrowful plea. He had his head bowed, so she wouldn't be able to see the conflicting confusion in them. What did the creature mean? He felt a struggle- not to fight against him, but a struggle of the inability to explain to him. Wary and far more puzzled than he was before, Shura yanked himself away from the beast, demanding that it remain silent until he could understand what was happening. The Griffin reared in a sudden flare of fury, almost shrieking its defiance. However, it was quickly silenced and drowned by his resolution. Shura stepped back and stumbled slightly as the tension in his body gave way. He looked at her, with his usual indifferent gaze and clenched his fists at his sides. "Get some rest. It's getting late." With that, he strode out to his chamber. OOC [time skip to night~] |

Sayuri blinked, completely confused. Her expression asked what did he mean by it, but she knew he couldn't see it as his head was bowed. The strain, desperate, and sorrowful-like plea in his voice was startling. She didn't know what he meant nor why was he sounding like the way he is. When he pulled away and stumbled slightly, she almost moved forward to help him until her eyes caught sight of his usual gaze. She didn't flinch and just watched him walk out of her door. After a moments pause, she walked to the door and slowly shut the door. She turned her attention to the bandaged and dressed wound. Why? Her mind now too exhausted to think thoroughly, she changed her clothes to be dressed in night clothing. I wonder when they'll send me home tomorrow, she thought with a yawn. No more wondering about what Shura is thinking... With that, she fell asleep. ~~~ She woke up with a start and leaned forward, rubbing her face. "It wasn't a dream, remember that," she muttered as she got out of bed. She noted the dressed wound, noticing the dry blood on it. She glanced on the bed to find no blood traces either. She dressed herself and washed herself. She looked out of her door to find that the castle was still very quiet, not many people stirring. I'm up early, she thought plainly. She packed up whatever items she had brought and placed them all inside her bag. She tensed when she sensed that familiar aura. Urgh, he's here?! How... forget it, I'm not going to bother, she thought. But the aura felt ways off and she just thought she might just explore the castle before she has to go. She left the room again and began to wander around. This was the second time she walked around without a guard. The first had been with Jegan... Jegan... speaking of him, she wondered momentarily how he was doing... and then she remember Resee. Her eyes darkened. "How was she doing...?" she mumbled, feeling worried still. |

In the dark, the loose latch rattled as a black, slick tail brushed roughly against it, reflecting the frustration of the creature. ---- The mage's blood... the Rune Knight- no, Keira. "Shura?" Keira frowned and stepped hesitantly closer. He was standing stiff as a statue, staring wide-eyed at her as if he had seen a ghost. She recognized her sash that he held in one hand, but his arm was half-raised and frozen, as he wanted to offer it to her. "No!" he managed to choke out. A spasm passed through his body that made his blood run cold. The raging demon was back, this time much more powerful than before. Its soul burned against his own, threatening to consume him if it wasn't released. Its thoughts clashed against his own consciousness like a bull ramming against a weak barrier. He sank to the ground and clutched his head. His breathing hastened as he strained to fight an internal war. The splitting pain in his head only caused him to curl his fingers hard against his skalp. "The mage- her blood... you-" he forced out the words, barely even able to form logic. She stared at him, suddenly recognizing the panic that had gripped her insides in an icy claw. This- it wasn't the first time she had seen him struggle against the demon. The first thing that entered her mind was the Inscriptors. They were the ones truly capable of restraining the demon. But she couldn't go. She couldn't leave him alone and part of her hated the fact that she had to submit Shura to the Inscriptors. "Hold on, I will get help," she said uncertainly, and nearly turned to leave- she had to do something. Lives were at stake. "You wanted me dead," his voice... wasn't quite his and his words were harsh. That made her pause and she slowly turned back to face him. Pain, regret and helplessness etched themselves upon her knitted brows. Sorrow shone through her eyes as she looked at him. Part of her wanted to turn away from his sufferings, to cover her eyes so she wouldn't see him struggle. Her own heart tore painfully when she found that she couldn't say a word- nothing to show him that she truly cared. "Do it," he hissed, wrapping his arms around his shuddering body as if it would hold back the demon. Keira stared hard, the reality of the situation slamming mercilessly on her heart. She looked about with wild eyes, and was about to shout to the nearest Knight for help, before a memory brought a reminder to her- the griffin had killed half of the order before. Slowly, almost heavily, she drew her sword. But she felt no assurance she usually felt when the weapon was in her hand. Instead, a wave of suffocating loss clawed a void in her chest. For a long while, she stood before the trembling figure, sword held lifelessly at her side. She took in the pain she saw on his face, felt with a strange clarity, the struggle he must be going through.... And her sword slipped from her hand to fall with a final clatter on the ground. This is foolish- I am foolish, her conscience whispered as she stepped towards him fearlessly. If I were to make a mistake... this... is one I would willingly make. Falling to her knees before him, she laid a hand on his white knuckle. "I can't," she told him simply. In a swift movement, his hand grasped her delicate neck in a vice like grip and his burnining eyes of gold glared into her own. She knew of course, that he was just forcing her to raise her sword- to defend herself. So she smiled weakly at him but didn't struggle. Her breath came in short, deperate gasps and she could feel the lightness in her head. "If I could," she choked. "I would have." A sudden burst of black and gold feathers exploded before her. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw his hand morph into a griffin's massive claw. In a matter of a twist, her neck was as good as broken. The great beast glared at her with its golden eyes and screeched defiantly. Even though her heart was running miles from her fear, Keira let her own eyes fall shut, awating for death that was just a breath away. A mistake that I will willingly commit. However, the deadly talons didn't tighten or rip her throat. After a long stretch of a mere few seconds, she opened her eyes to look. The great demon of black and gold was there- massive and intimidating, but its eyes... there was so much conflict, so much fear. Did the beast have a heart? She nearly laughed at the ridiculous thought. There were footsteps approaching, but Keira seemed to have sunk into a daze of one who has accepted death. She raised a weak hand to stroke the demon's heaving chest. Her hand sunk within the warm softness that made her believe that it probably had a heart- a kind one. The beast continued to stare, confusion dominant in its eyes while its chest heaved faster. This was the human who had the mage's blood- she had harmed his mage. Why was he hesitating? Memories... the human days.... A dear friend.... The massive claw loosened and eventually released her neck in jerky movements, as if there was still an internal fight. It lowered its grand crested head just a fraction, and the next moment, it dropped onto its belly and slipped its head under her soothing hand. It crawled closer, dropping one large arm on her lap. A whimper came from its throat, and a whine so full of hurt and loss continued. Alarmed and for some reason pleasantly suprised, Keira didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around the thick neck of the beast. "Shura... maybe a little calmness is enough." The short moment of peace however, was soon shattered by a group of stricken Knights. The sound of their weapons made the griffin rip itself violently away from Keira's embrace and in the process, cause her to fall hard on her side. It hissed menacingly, wings outstretched. Oh no, it wasn't going to fly. So many more hearts to gouge out. It was going to stay and tear them limb by limb. |

Slightly irked by the silence and stillness of the castle, she expanded her hearing like she had back at home, enabling her to hear conversations or even just the sound of someone dusting as to relieve her of the silence. She heard muffles of some sort of conversation before she heard a clatter of... something. Then she felt it. That tingling of a sensation that a magical creature nearby. How? Sayuri ran and she couldn't believe what she saw as she skidded to a halt and stared at the griffin. "The griffin," she breathed as her eyes grew wide. She watched the events unfold as the griffin did not move its claws to kill her or rip the throat, as according to what she has read so far. Her thoughts mingled with confusion for a moment. Why was it pausing? Didn't they assume that it was crazy and had no mind? For a moment, she walked closer to the point where she could hear its' thoughts... confused at the images that flooded her mind. This... appears to be... younger days? she thought as she stepped back. Then she watched as the griffin's claws move away from Keira's throat. She felt dread crawl up her spine as she watched Keira wrap her arms around the griffin's neck. "Shura... maybe a little calmness is enough." She blinked, abruptly breaking her worry over Keira. What? What did she just say? Was she referring to the griffin? It can't be... Then she watched horror-struck as a group of Rune Knights came forth, their faces plainly horrified as they withdrew their weapons, which in the process made Keira fall hard on her side as the griffin ripped itself away from her embrace. "Keira!" she exclaimed, worry clearly in her voice. She watched with horror filled eyes as the griffin's thoughts again told her what it was going to do; it was going to stay and eat its fill of hearts as the images of it doing it so touched her mind. "No!" she shouted, moving forward and casting a powerful paralyzing spell over the Griffin. Edited by DarkAngel013, Apr 19 2009, 02:42 AM.

Mana. A strangled cry gurgled past the griffin's throat when it felt the crawling effect of paralysis. It didn't understand- why was his mage hurting him? Its broad, feathered chest heaved as a painful burn settled in the very pit of its lungs. Why? Do you not want me anymore? Heavy breaths blew out through its nostrils and a glassy sheen slipped over its sorrowful eyes. Its great wings sagged and the griffin looked almost like a youngling on the verge of tears. Betrayed- it was all the griffin could grasp. Why. But it wasn't looking for an answer anymore. It kept to the emotions it had been living with for the past decades- anger, hatred and hunger. The griffin hissed viciously. It reared its crowned head and released an ear-splitting shriek that seemed to go on forever. All the Rune Knights clamped their ears and cringed in pain. Some had even fallen to their knees. The powerful ringing that came from the high pitch, in addition to the blasting volume, fueled by the griffin's limitless fury easily subdued them all. Just like it did so many years ago. Keira was dangerously close to the demon's feet, but she couldn't do anything more than curling up into a ball and clapping her hands to her ears. She could still feel the piercing sound and it was starting to make her faint. Once the humans were down, the griffin ceased its cry, glaring at all of them with eyes that no longer show sanity. It turned to the closest body- Keira and brutally slammed its claw over her. She gasped when she felt something crack and pain exploded at her ribs. So may more hearts to gouge... so many more. All for me. My mage has left me. All for me. It lowered its head, its hooked beak poised over her chest. Edited by Seiss, Apr 19 2009, 08:30 AM.

Sayuri stopped the spell mid-way when its thoughts again echoed in her mind. She pushed her own into it, I do! But you mustn't hurt them! She felt hurt when the griffin looked as if it were on the verge of tears and for a moment, she wanted to run to it and embrace it to keep it from crying. "You mustn't," she whispered. Then, she watched with horror as the griffin seemed to have given up anything that it might vaguely have. "Don't give up!" she exclaimed, feeling the emotions that erupted from the griffin as she stumbled. Because of this, the sharp hearing she had invoked on herself disappeared. Suddenly, as if her magic knew something was coming from the way the griffin's emotions were going, they cut off her hearing as she looked up and watched the griffin screech, Sayuri feeling the fury that was put into it. She watched with horror as her sound came back just in time for her to hear something crack in Keira's ribs. "Please stop!" she shouted, running towards the griffin, although she knew it was inevitable. Why are you doing this? What on earth as forced you to become what you are? Who has made you this angry? her thoughts echoed as she spoke them to the griffin. If the griffin was insane, it might just only tell her vague words and things that would probably make no sense at all but as a mage, she wanted to try to understand and soothe the griffin. |
