(( Yep, she does and it's all right. ^^ )) "Well, I guess there's enough flattery enough for everyone, apparently, be you are famous or infamous," she replied. Carefully, she did not make herself look to the man before her but continued to gaze out of the window. She scoffed and said, "Well, glad to hear that my cargo will be of help to you." She paused as she listened to him speak, taking note of the fact that she was surprised by the mere fact that he had not touched her cabin yet. She continued to listen, only to twitch at the word of choice he used in terms of implying her. Why he wanted to take her... was probably for ransom... How typical. "Do NOT call me by that word, I have a name you know," she snapped, her azure eyes flashing angrily. "Well, I couldn't let my ship fall to the hands of a pirate ship without a fight, as I wouldn't allow it... nor would I have a way to explain it to my father at all..." she scoffed, "as if he cares anymore." She was fingering a small bit of a cloth that she had retrieved from her pocket. She listened to his soft words, surprised that he was able to do such a thing. Taking down a gulp of nerves, she turned to face him and walked towards him. She knew that he might needed her for some sort of ransom, so he'll most likely not hurt her if she were to do anything so bold. "An ogre? Is that what you compare yourself to?" she asked softly. Her eyes softened slightly. Then she shook her head. "What you have underneath your mask may be indeed frightening but the fact remains that you are still human. I've seen many a grotesque people and if I were to be so much as frightened by a single person, then I might as well go make myself jump overboard. I have had my share of men with frightening faces." She looked cold when she remembered those times, her eyes becoming hard. "Be it as it may, I won't ask you to remove your mask... if that was what you were implying," she murmured. ((Edit-ed)) "Sarcasm will avail you naught, Ms. Topaz. Rather, I find it unamusing." He took a few steps towards her, coming so close that he could hear her breath despite the din of his men manning the sails, his eyes inscrutable as he gazed deeply into her azure eyes, drinking in their beauty. "And as I see it, you are still but a girl, one of stunning beauty and spirit I must admit, but nevertheless still a girl." Gently, he brushed back a few stray strands of her hair. His voice was soothing and comforting as he spoke replied her question. "There are things far more frightening than grotesque faces, Ms. Topaz and my true identity is one of them. But there will be a time when you shall see my face, never fear." "Now,you should rest after that knock on the head." His deep voice hardened slightly, as he reigned in his emotions. "You were lucky that it was only a glancing blow. We shall talk when you are feeling better." He moved away from her. "Please do nothing foolish, such as trying to leave the cabin. My men are a rough lot, and you would not like their uncouth ways. So long as you remain in here, you will be safe." With that, he left the room, closing the door with the sound of a bolt being shot home. Raven stood motionless for a while facing the door, still confused by the sea of emotions that swamped his heart, before he turned on his heel and the dull thunk of his sturdy boots echoed faintly as he headed for one of his men and gave orders for Ms. Topaz's trunk to be brought aboard from the Lady Emerald. Ren was preparing herself for him to slap her across the face for disrespecting his space, but found it surprisingly closer, causing her heart to begin to pound against her chest. She found herself unable to pull away from his gaze, although she could not clearly see his eyes. "I thank you for... the compliment, but I'm sure that there are other girls who can match up and be far more beautiful than I can ever be," she said, her face starting to flicker a soft and gentle color of pink that started to appear on her face as she found herself unable to step back. "I may be a girl, but I am strong enough to handle men, especially if they don't gang up on me, and I'm far more formidable than you think I am," she managed to retort quickly to his comment. She found herself unable to breathe when his hand came to brush a few hair strands back, her face, neck, and ears starting to burn upon the close contact. She could clearly hear his breathe, his words, the rumble of his voice from his throat, his voice oddly comforting. Despite the burning across her face, she said firmly, not looking away from his own gaze, "Frightening can mean different things, Raven... as for me seeing your face, I will see your face when you've only felt the need to remove your mask and show me, and I will not be afraid of your face as you deemed to say it is." She heard the hardness in his voice, and tensed slightly despite the close contact that has already been exchanged. It was true, her head still throbbed from the hit to her head and she should, after all, rest as he say she should. Ren's anger covered over her embarrassment, her pounding heart over the closeness they had momentarily shared as he stepped back, suggesting that she should stay in the cabin and such. The feeling of being caged up in a room instead of being able to explore or move about as she pleased, made her feel as if she were suffocating. He may have men on his ship that are uncouth, however, that does not mean it was not the same on her own ship. She herself had to kick their rear ends in order for them to respect her, instead of the girl that they should take to their bed. And she had to do it while with several men surrounding her. Before he even heard her reply to his statement, he left the room and the bolting of a door was heard as he locked up the cabin. She ran to the door and kicked it, only to receive nothing but a hard, loud slam as her boots came upon the door. "Damn!" she hissed, as she began to swear under her breath while she began to walk around her room. She crossed her arms across her chest, staring out the window of the cabin that led out to sea. "What the hell am I going to do now? I do not seriously want to spend my time in here! My body will just get rusty if I stay cooped up in here." She paused before the door, wondering what kind of bolt was keeping her inside. She sighed and then looked around the room. She might as well as dress up appropriately before going off to sleep for awhile, resting the throbbing that was on her head. She wandered over around the room, looking around and noticing things she hadn't noticed before. She stopped briefly in front of the wine and sighed again as she picked up a goblet, pouring herself the wine. She then drank it dry, tasting the sweetness of it. She was a powerful drinker and could not be swayed with just one cup of any kind of alcohol. She took several more deep gulps before deciding it was time to crash and rest her throbbing head. She walked over to the closet, opened it, and noticed several times of nightgowns to sleep in that were hanging. Momentarily, she wondered who this room had belonged to before she shook it off. She will think about it later, when the throbbing stops. She choose one that was relatively simplistic and she rarely even slept in these kinds of garments anyway, preferring the type of one where she wears a shirt and shorts to sleep in, but of course, she has to be a lady, like her father had repeatedly said to her in place of her deceased-mother. She walked over to the window and closed it shut, leaving the room considerably dark to the point that she began to light up some candles just so she could see. She stripped herself of her clothes and her boots, revealing dark ivory skin, her dark raven hair spilling over her shoulders and down her back until they rested gently nearby her thighs seeing as though there was nothing that could stop them from reaching their full length. She then pulled over the the nightgown, the straps on her shoulders revealing her collarbone and her bare arms, and the nightgown only reached to about her mid-thighs, revealing elegant long legs that seemed smooth to the touch. She found a brush and then began to brush her hair, remembering her mother's words at her hair... "Ren! Your mother loves your hair so much!" she gushed, brushing it for her. "Mother, my hair isn't as pretty as yours!" Ren insisted, turning towards her only to be forced to face forward. "Aw, thank you dearest, but your hair is your treasure and I think you ought to treasure it, after all, such a shade of this kind of hair is so rare," her mother smiled fondly. "What kind of color is rare? Mine?" "Yes, it's a deep raven color that changes colors in the sun... it can go from pitch black to brown with streaks of mahogany down your hair... and even with just candle-light, your hair has a reflective color of blue in them too," she explained, continuing to brush Ren's hair. "Really?" Ren asked, her eyes growing wide. "Yes, my little flower," she murmured as she continued to fondly brush her hair. She stared at the mirror before her, blinking back the tears that had started to form in her eyes. Her father had often said that she looked almost like the exact replica of her mother, except for her piercing azure eyes that she had inherited from her father. She crawled into bed, loving the feeling of the fabric that it was giving her. She soon quickly fell asleep, the blankets covering her shoulders as her hair lay scattered around her. Although, the blanket was somewhat thin, not thick enough to cover her body, it was enough to show it contours of her body as she lay asleep. (The blankets is like those summer blankets you would use when you're sleeping so as not to get too hot.) |

((Sorry for the slow reply. If errors abound, do notify me and I shall set about correcting the mistakes.)) Raven closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, taking in the salty breeze that swept across the deck, bringing the acrid smells of unwashed men and the wooden smell of wet oak. But even those familiar odours failed to wash away the memory of her smell. Ren Topaz's smell. It is difficult to describe the scent clearly, a tangy wild smell that reminded mildly of lush meadows and exotic spices, yet briefly hinted at the clean smell of mint and basil. It was all that and yet none of it, a heady sensuous scent that teased at one's olfactory senses. With deliberate slowness, Raven exhaled, attempting to clear his muddled mind. Never before had he been enthralled and entranced by a female, and yet this mere slip of a woman tugged at his heartstrings without even knowing it. A sensation of being watched caused him to snap his eyes open. Raven didn't bother to turn back. Only one person would dare to disturb him when he is thinking. "Yes, Raúl? What is it?" he growled. The Spaniard hesitated before replying, clearing his throat as he did so. "Capitán, The trunk has been brought aboard as you requested." Turning around to face his second-in-command, Raven noted the look in his eyes that betrayed the questions that plagued the man's mind. "And?" The man seemed uncomfortable to broach the topic but spoke up nevertheless. "The Lady Emerald is a good haul. Why haven't we plundered her riches and sunk her to the bottom yet? Her crew, or what's left of it, are just an extra burden. Having our men commander the ship to Tortuga is nothing but an arduous task which cuts down our manpower by half." Listening to the other man, Raven only closed his eyes and nodded. Only when those slate grey eyes opened again did he answer him. "Amigo, your questions are valid. But now is not the time for me to answer. You shall know soon enough the reason to my actions." Raúl only nodded, despite that his questions went unanswered. With a hearty chuckle, Raven slapped the Spaniard's back. "Never fear! I have yet to take leave of my senses. My plans are coming into fruition. Just bear with this a little more." Turning away with a grin still on his face, he beckoned to two men to lug the the chest to the cabin where he had locked Miss Topaz in. The sound of the bolt on the door being drawn must have awakened her, for when Raven entered the cabin, she was already stirring to consciousness. Frowning at the darkness of the room, he stepped to a window and opened it, throwing into his features into sharp relief. He let the amber rays of the sun shine upon the prone form of Ms. Topaz, taking the opportunity to savour the way the silk nightgown clung to her curves like a second skin, leaving nothing to the imagination. He stood there drinking in her beauty until she had fully awakened before motioning for the brassbound chest containing her personal belongings to be brought in. Without waiting for a reaction from her, Raven bent to throw back the lid, revealing the modest array of dresses she had brought along. With a mocking glance, he held up several modest, quite plainly cut day dresses and surveyed with a half smile. "I had heard you like only the best, Miss Topaz. Hard to imagine you appearing in these," he drawled. He heard her gasp aloud as he tossed the dresses through the open window directly beside him. Petticoats and other items followed until he completed the task of emptying the chest of most of its contents, as his eyes followed the items spiraling down to their watery grave. From somewhere up on the deck, the sight of drifting clothes brought guffaws of laughter from the crew. Raven's brow furrowed. 'I'll have to talk to the men about this later.' He considered the jewels he found with a narrow gaze, before dropping them back into the chest without comment. "You will be provided for while you are aboard the Raven's ship," he said with a slow smile. "I shall have clothes sent to you, so that you can prepare to come to me later. We shall dine together, and I shall set your mind at rest about your future." |

Sleepy Inspiration

The bolt made a rather loud clang as she realized that the door must be opening. She heard the heave foot steps of what she had come to recognize as Raven and rotated herself sharply when she heard the curtains and window open and groaned inwardly as she grabbed a pillow to hide her face. The setting sunlight bothered her and when she had finally wakened fully, she found that Raven had been watching her wake up. Startled, she drew herself up to cover herself, realizing that even if she had chosen a different gown, they were all silk anyway and wouldn't have made a difference. She pulled her coat to her and wrapped it around herself before she could utter a retort. And because of his lack of attention she found that her angry expression went unnoticed as she found that he had indeed brought her chest into this room. She only watched with utter horror as he threw open the chest open, revealing the plain clothes that lay inside. He lifted one up and spoke, "I had heard you like only the best, Miss Topaz. Hard to imagine you appearing in these." She could only gasp in reply when she watched her clothes being thrown out of the window and down towards their watery doom, unable to be worn again. She heard the laughter of the men from his crew laugh at the clothes falling and could only assume that they were thinking of something dirty. She didn't notice his narrowed gaze as she eyed him go through her jewels. She watched him coldly as he went to look at the jewels that lay at the bottom, before replacing them back and then shutting the chest shut. Holding her coat and the remains of her clothes to her chest, she watched him stand back up and speak to her about what he was to do with her. "You will be provided for while you are aboard the Raven's ship," he said with a slow smile. "I shall have clothes sent to you, so that you can prepare to come to me later. We shall dine together, and I shall set your mind at rest about your future." Her fury couldn't be expressed in her words, only in her eyes. He dare throw away her clothes and now he plans to dress her up in the way he wants her to dress! How dare he?! And above all else, he wants her to dine with him. This only caused her anger to fuel further but it was muted slightly when he mentioned her future. Her piercing azure eyes burned with a fire that seemed to reflect her anger, she spoke surprisingly calmer than before, but not without her share of sarcasm, "And I'll be all so looking forward to the dress that you will be sending to me, along with your plans for what you have in store for my future." Ren had gotten up from the bed and kicked her chest further away from Raven, so that the chest rested near the vanity desk where she had previously brushed her hair before she went to sleep. When she stood before Raven, her legs were seen through the openings of the coat, revealing them to him. Her boots, however, somehow was managed to be slipped on so it seemed as if she was ready for some sort of combat any given moment, despite her attire. "I look forward to the meal," she growled with her voice obviously dripping in her sarcasm. |

Raven had clearly noted the way Ren's eyes flashed after he had spoken. Her penetrating azure eyes burned with emotion. Which was it? Was it indignity? or anger? Surprisingly, she spoke very much calmly, bellying the fury in her eyes, though her reply was laced with sarcasm. "And I'll be all so looking forward to the dress that you will be sending to me, along with your plans for what you have in store for my future." Folding her arms across his chest, he ignored the jibe. Instead, he watched her as she rose from the bed, appreciating the way her hair cascaded right down to her thighs, accentuating her loveliness all the more. Even the coat wrapped around her could not fully conceal her beauty, her long slender legs a sharp contrast against the dull coat. How he ached to run his fingers through her glorious deep raven hair, to slowly stroke it as he whispered tender words into her ear. How he yearned to feel the touch of her smooth ivory skin, to feel the softness of her creamy milky flesh. It drove him wild to think about it, especially when she was so close. Reigning in his emotions, he left his face impassive, and except for the gleam in his eye, no one would have guessed what ran through his mind. Quirking an eyebrow, Raven remained unruffled even after Ren kicked her chest away from him, most probably to avoid him from dumping any more of her stuff overboard. She stood before him as if ready to do battle, though teasing him with the sight of her well-toned legs. A feisty woman indeed! A deep chuckle rose in his throat. "I'm glad to see your spirit returning. I was beginning to think that knock on your head had done away with it. Now you are more like the Ren I have heard so much about." Motioning to the crewmen who had brought in the her chest, he whispered for them to bring in his "special cargo", before turning his attention back to her. "I do hope you are not going to be difficult." Behind the mask, his eyes were only slits. "If you have no thought for yourself, then surely you should consider - others." A series of footsteps and two loud thuds announced the return of the two shipmates, laden with a chest each. His eyes still on her, he dismissed the two before flipping open the chests. There was a dress of midnight blue silk, shot with silver thread and sewn with tiny seed pearls. Another of dark green velvet, heavily trimmed with gold braid, and many others as elegant as these. Leather slippers of Moroccan leather with silver buckles. A silver-backed brush and and inlaid tortoise-shell comb, and bottles containing scented oils and perfumes. The smaller chest contained rings and necklaces which shimmered and sparkled in the late afternoon sunshine. Diamonds, huge cabochon rubies, emeralds that shone with a deep green fire, a large sapphire of the deepest blue, tinged with a shot of purple. And ropes of flawless pearls! "I hope you find everything to your satisfaction?" Raven asked, a mocking smile on his lips. |

A deep chuckle rose in his throat. "I'm glad to see your spirit returning. I was beginning to think that knock on your head had done away with it. Now you are more like the Ren I have heard so much about." "I do hope you are not going to be difficult." Her eyes only narrowed in his direction and said nothing. She crossed her arms across her chest as she continued to listen as to what he was saying. She noted the whisper of command that he seemed to send to his men and watched them leave momentarily before turning her attention back to Raven as he spoke. A moment of a flicker of confusion touched her face as to wonder about what he meant about being difficult. But paled slightly at the next words he said. "If you have no thought for yourself, then surely you should consider - others." With that, she clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, not wanting to show anymore of the anger that she was withholding inside of herself. She did not want to endanger her crew any more than they already are. But her anger was slightly appeased when she heard the heavy thudding of two men carrying a chest each. She watched with a wary gaze when Raven bent over to open one of the chests and discovered with a soft gasp that the chest was filled with extravagant dresses, the kinds she had usually only seen noble women wear. She had sold all of her high-class dresses to remain in business as her father had gambled most of their money away; hence, why she took over the business from him. When the next chest opened, she could not help but take a sharp intake of breath when she saw the second chest being opened, revealing a marvelous collection of accessories and other items that were of usual importance to a woman. The jewels were also much more of a surprise as well. Something important like this shouldn't be shown to her, because, if her assumptions were correct, pirates didn't like to show or even share their "booty" with anyone else, especially their captives. Ren knelt down to the chest of jewels and examined their worth and value to see if they were real and to her astonishment, they were. Her fingers brushed over the jewels and items before delicately picking them up. Now, as she was knelt down before the chest, revealed even more of her legs, far more prominent than before. She looked over each item slowly, turning them over in her elegant fingers as she examined them with a sharp eye. However, she was snapped out of her reverie when she heard Raven's voice again, suddenly standing up to face him as she backed up slightly from where he stood. "I hope you find everything to your satisfaction?" Raven asked, a mocking smile on his lips. She watched him warily, her anger's fire reignited as she glared at Raven. "But of course, they are to my 'satisfaction'," she hissed, unable to believe that he had this kind of items in his hoard. Why would he bother then, to raid her ship when he had such things as this already? She placed her hands on her hips, as she turned to glance at the dresses and sighed. Seeing as she had no other forms of dressing herself up properly, she found that she had no choice. The male clothing she had been previously wearing was somewhat ruined anyway and it would probably bother the men aboard this ship. Her anger now appeased somewhat, she again, knelt down to the chest before the dresses and murmured softly as she picked up one of the midnight blue dresses, "All right, I will dress to your... wishes, so leave so that I may dress to your liking." Although her voice had been soft, it was almost vehement in her words. Her fiery spirit was not going down with a fight, despite the feeling of incoming helplessness that Ren was beginning to feel. She was trapped. What would she be able to do if she had no form or way to move about? There wasn't much she would be able to do, cooped up in this room. The least she could do now, was to retort and stay angry at the captain for even taking her captive. But she must comply, least her crew would be put into danger and she didn't want that, not at all. When he left, she sighed and went through the dresses that were offered to her. She picked up several, noting that most of them accented her fair skin and hair as well as her eyes. That's surprising, considering that most of her clothes rarely were able to do that. She picked up the midnight blue silk gown, noting the several layers of silk that made it really look like a gown. She felt the fabric and again, noted that the top portion of the gown was thick enough so that it did not show any unwanted curves, namely parts of her chest. She discovered a matching corset to the gown but realized that she had no one to help her tie the corset anyway. She might have to get inventive if she was going to wear that. She decided that it was what she was going to wear anyway. Heaving a soft sigh, she removed her coat, leaving only on her silk nightgown before removing that as well, leaving her in nothing before she dressed herself up. She discovered a garter and stockings as she finished putting on the gown and wore the garter and stockings before beginning to work on her corset. When she somehow managed to finish the tying of the corset, she found that it boasted her chest a bit and that it covered and flattened most of it. She found that the gown was sleeveless and bared her shoulders with only a strap alongside of her arm. She picked up several pieces of jewelry with some hair accessories and sat down at the vanity desk. She brushed her hair and found that it curled in some places as she tied it up to the side of her head, the curlier parts of her hair accenting her just perfectly as she tucked in several hair pins. Then, she decided to leave on her locket around her neck, as the silver piece of jewelry accented her hair pins and the silver threading in her dress. When she finished, she discovered that dressing herself up was very time consuming and that she looked more feminine like than she had in years. Ren knew that her father would be proud. When she moved, she discovered that the silk gown actually allowed a lot more movement than she had expected. She left behind the rest of her valuables in her coat as she bent down to pick the appropriate shoes to match the gown. When she was fitted with them, she took another glance in the mirror and only sighed. She felt she like she was dressing herself up only to be deflowered... Again, she bent over the second chest and sprayed the air with different kinds of perfume, leaving the window open, and found that none of them were suited to her liking. She decided that the perfume she was already wearing was enough, knowing that the last time she had really used it was almost a lifetime ago. Her mother had told her often that Ren smelled like an exotic flower in the rain forest, smelling wild and yet tame, minty and yet not. Ren wondered mildly if it was the soup she used... Before she noticed, she discovered that the sun was setting and decided to just sit down and wait for the time to be called for dinner. There, as she sat on the bed, her usual piercing azure gaze softened as she watched the rest of the sunset. |
