[-Link to OOC Thread-] [-Link to KoLM Map-] Spoiler: click to toggle ![]() Background: The Kingdom of La Mar began when the Eight Elemental wizards gathered together to ward off the strongest evil in its time; Dark Chaos, an evil being sent to the realm by an Evil Wizard named Nemesis. Dark Chaos was too much and thus, the Eight Elemental Wizards sacrificed themselves to bring down Dark Chaos with them. BUT, Dark Chaos had only been sealed temporarily. Nemesis had vanished off the Kingdom, never to be found again. Some say he had died along with the Wizards and some say that he had been sealed with Dark Chaos. 3000 years later, Dark Chaos is prophesied that he will be awakened again. The current King, Helios, is determined to find the Reincarnations of the Eight Elemental Wizards. The Prophecy had stated that when Dark Chaos was to be awakened again, the Eight Wizards would come again and fight. During this time, the Kingdom was full of magic of the Elements, but none were as powerful as the Elemental Wizards. Before, those Wizards had served the King, but no one has ever seen such devastating power of the like of the Elemental Wizards. BUT, one Elemental Wizard was already found in the form of a young man studying to become a Musician. It was proclaimed that if at least one Elemental Wizard was found, they would be able to find the others. It does not matter if they were elves, dwarves, humans, vampires, or half-dragon. Now King Helios must let this young male wander around the Kingdom of La Mar to find the remaining missing Elemental Wizards, who would in their quest, would discover their full potential and discover that the world was not just about them anymore; it was about the world. ~~~ Rules:

![]() Location: Somewhere between Crelum Forest and Fahrenheit Range to La Mar City Date: September 1st Time: Morning to Early Evening Left wandering around for what seemed like forever, the raven-haired male wondered what was in store for him as he headed back towards the capital of La Mar, of which is appropriately named La Mar City. His path was swift and silent, robbed of its musical rustlings of footsteps that hit the ground. No one would be able to see him in the way he ran so quickly across the ground. His piercing aquamarine eyes glanced over everything before him, making sure that he would not run into anyone nor would he sense another vampire around him... after all, a dhampir was wanted by many... He kept running until he came across a small village of Endil. His presence was already causing a scene as the villagers wanted to gather around and get a look at the young man that had stepped into the village, his features different and had more... elegance to it than the average man had. His graceful movements were noticed by the young maidens in the village, who were swayed with his impassive expression. He began running as soon as he refreshed himself momentarily, only to relieve that of the travel that was building up inside him. He drank some ale and ate some meager things before he took off again. He took off into a dash as he zoomed across the woods that surrounded Liricor, however, turning to avoid the large vampire-filled city as he headed towards La Mar City. After several hours, his foot touched the outskirts of the large city, already many people who lived in the suburbs of the city were taking notice of him. He sighed. Then taking off to the roofs of the city, he began jumping from roof to roof until he was in the more busier streets of the city, taking note that this was where most of the trade was going on. He landed in an alley to get down to the streets and begin walking around, wondering if there was a Elemental Wizard amongst the people here when he decided he should head to an inn. He walked inside an inn, which he had found moments later, ready to check himself in for the evening as it began to roll in "A single room, if you may be so kind," he said in a gentle, soothing voice that seemed to entrance the woman who was working at the desk. "Y-yes!" she managed to gasp as she struggled to keep a steady hold on the keys as her hands shook to give him the keys. He nodded his thanks with a soft murmur and he turned towards the stairs to his room of the night. He walked inside, closed the door, and walked to the window. He gazed out to the twilight sky, feeling a bit nostalgic, as he flickered through the memories of what he had in La Mar city before setting out, however little time he had spent there. Vaguely, he felt the distant auras of his past companions nearby and he wondered if they lived in this city. Edited by DarkAngel013, Feb 22 2009, 01:35 AM.

a fleeting presence

Location: Gooood question. (Somewhere near La Mar City. At least, that's what Emry thinks...? He's not really sure.) Date: September 1st. Time: Late Afternoon Bright shafts of sunlight pierced his vision, and Emry Conte fell out of a tree, crashing into the ground with curse loud he wished was loud enough to wake the dead. Unfortunately, no amount of cursing, yelling, wishing, hoping, praying, or any action, really, had yet managed to bring back the maybe-supposedly-but-probably-not-really dead Nemesis, an event that Emry was wistfully awaiting. The past thousands of years had been truly boring without his lord's presence, and life had become quite mundane with nothing to do. Charming pretty young women, assuming the role of a mysterious, evasive mass-murderer, working as an assassin-for-hire, killing and impersonating lords, creating enigmatic but one-hundred percent false prophecies foretelling destruction at the hands of a white rabbit, leading kings and lords on epic scavenger-hunts that usually ended in death, and pretending to be an Elemental Wizard were all activities that had quickly lost their appeal after the fourth or fifth time trying it. And pretending to be an Elemental Wizard - which was the most fun, because it usually ended up in mass chaos due to fear of Dark Chaos until he was revealed as a fraud (at which point he would disappear, much to many people's bafflement) - which was his most recent attempt at alleviating boredom wasn't even an option anymore. Well, not unless he wanted to risk being showed up by the real Elemental Wizard and then somehow dealing with the ensuing situation... And Elemental Wizards were showing up - and because of that, Emry couldn't afford to be revealed just yet. The appearances of Elemental Wizards signaled the impending escape of Dark Chaos which hopefully was a sign that Nemesis was soon to be returning from wherever-the-hell he had disappeared to - without telling Emry, which he was still a little annoyed about... With a long-suffering sigh, Emry brushed off dirt and got to his feet started walking in the same direction as he had been for the past three-thousand or so years - nowhere. As he traveled, he mentally wished, hoped, prayed, and attempted any other action he could think of that might bring Nemesis back for the umpteenth time. Edited by Teslyn, Feb 22 2009, 12:07 PM.

Location: Wouldn't you like to know. Date: September 1st. He wore darkness like a second skin. It coiled about him, covered him like the hooded cloak he wore within the deep recesses of his dark hiding place. When his cold, mirthless laughter rang out in the empty halls lined with black tapestries and torches that burned with black fire, the darkness did not dissipate in the slightest. It only seemed to become chillier, and with the echoes of that laugh still reverberating, the girl - more of a young woman, really - was reluctant to enter the hall. His cowl hid a handsome face, sharp and hard, and brown eyes that at times, seemed to burn brightly with a maliciousness that would shock even the worst of mankind; at others, they seemed to be gentle, comforting... for a little bit, at least. All the time, though, those brown eyes had the ability to burn through others', to stare at their very souls, see into their minds, and wrest control of themselves from them. "M-my Lord," she said, finally finding what little courage she had and entering. Her voice trembled as she knelt. She waited for his acknowledgment before speaking, despite the fact that he already knew what she had to say - she could feel him in her mind, not even bothering to hide his presence any longer. When that acknowledgment did come, a few agonizingly long moments later, it came in the form of a slight nod of his head, barely perceptible beneath the hood. The young woman had served him for a few months, now - not one of the longest to survive thus far, but very close to it - and was quick to see it. "I have urgent news, my Lord. An Elemental Wizard has been found." The girl shut up at another nod from the dark wizard, and all but fled the room, leaving the man to his thoughts. So the world had an Elemental Wizard now, which forced Re'lar into a very interesting position. He had few options, but all of them included what he liked best: careful plans and artful deception. If an Elemental Wizard had appeared, then Dark Chaos would be close to showing its face once more. Re'lar ti Synar would be more than glad to help usher the world into utter anarchy once more. His laughter rang out in the halls again, managing to echo throughout the whole of the secret place. The girl shivered. Edited by Teslyn, Feb 22 2009, 12:06 PM.

Location: La Mar City Smithy Date: September 1 Time: Afternoon Livia sighed as she curled the rods into their proper shape. The metal was too thick to bend when cool the way wire would, so it had to be worked while hot; that meant using the gloves that made delicate work difficult but kept her hands protected from very painful burns. “What’s the matter, Aquaria?” one of the other workers, Jonaleth, asked from across the room. “Air too dry in here? Fire too hot or something?” He grinned as I scowled. “Shut up, Bunny Boy,” she replied, smirking as the scowl moved over to his face instead. He hated it when someone brought up his pets as an insult, just as he knew the girl disliked her proper name. She thought about it as she continued working. It wasn’t a bad name, really—it just wasn’t her. It would have been good name for her little sister, who was more like the rest of the family: wind-weaving swimmer. In fact, her favorite pastime was riding the currents and staying as far away from the smithy as she could. All of Livia’s family were water or wind associated, and her parents had expected her to come out the same way. Unfortunately, she had not. According to her father, every flame in the room had flickered at the moment of her birth, as if itching to go to her. And the baby had seemed to reach for the fire roaring in the hearth that evening instead of the kite and fountain they had waiting to see the baby’s elemental comfort. Once they realized what it meant, Livia’s parents had done their best to change her name, but it was in vain. “Aquaria Aeolyn” was to be her official name. Few used that name, however. Her parents had called her Livia for longer than she could remember, and only those wishing to irritate her called her Aquaria. It merely stood in the records as an ironic statement of a family’s over-preparation for their baby’s birth, as they had gone so far as to put the baby’s name down in the official records before being sure it would choose water or even wind. Livia was unlike her family in more ways than just her use of fire. All were strangely good at using magic, it was true, but she was even stronger. It was almost unnatural for a human. Her parents were proud of something she had once assumed was just a story: that they had once had an elf in the family and he was the reason for their strength. But now she believed it—nothing else would explain their abilities. She shook her head and took the glove off her right hand. Livia dipped her fingers into the barrel of cool water used to temper the metal and prepared herself for a nasty burn. She tapped the metal before her and found, to her surprise, that it did not hurt to touch the hot metal. Another benefit of fire magic, she thought as she went back to her work, glove-free. Location: La Mar City outskirts Date: Sept.1 Time: Late Afternoon Faelin cautiously pulled the hood of his cloak forward over his long sandy blond hair to hide his sharp almost angelic features, then pulled the door to the tavern open. As it creaked on its old hinges, he was assaulted with boisterous laughter and fetid aromas. Head turning in disgust as the foul swirling cloud of smoke engulfed him then dissipated in the sweeter air of the outdoors, he forced himself into the stench. He never understood how humans could find any joy in the practice of inhaling burnt plants, but to each his own. He just wished he didn't have to breathe it. The room was dimly lit by overhead candle globes doing their best in an otherwise gloomy atmosphere. The shadows would serve him well. His clothing was richly made, plum adorned with ornate gold and cream handiwork, but he kept it subdued with subtle illusion. Another Elf might be able to see through it, but not these dull drunken humans. His Mythril gilt Ironwood bow appeared nothing more than a staff in his hand. Yet, used as a melee weapon in these close quarters it could strike a man down with its razor's edged face. While his clothing looked common there was little he could do to hide his confident bearing. His every motion warned the wary to not interfere. With a simple nod to the barkeep Faelin made his way to a far seat against the wall. He was not here to socialise, but for a private meeting. Why they couldn't meet in one of the tribal halls of their people he couldn't fathom. Easing the chair into the corner, he leaned back deeper into the shadows. Steepled fingers pressed against his lips, only the intense stare of his amber eyes were visible. They cast about the room settling for a span on each patron, before casually moving to the next. One of the human women, peculiar to the taverns, ventured toward him. The last thing he wanted was some floozy of a human clinging to him. The subtle glare and stiffening of his winged brows halted her in her tracks. She scurried off to a table of pathetic locals swimming in inebriation. The mug of ale that had been set before him went largely untouched. The foam had long settled when he finally ordered a platter of food. It looked as if this would take longer than he thought. Patience would prevail, and he had time. Edited by Oracle, Feb 22 2009, 01:55 AM.

Location: La Mar City Date: 1st Sept. Time: Early Evening She always detested visiting large hume settlements. They would reek of stink and sweat, and, in the rare event that an educated human found its way across her path, its reaction would be so unbearably predictable; a comment on her sweet scent, a suspicious tingling behind its eye, followed immediately by a quick exit. The abominable reaction so truly human was more than enough to ease her pacifist's guilt of detesting anything. In all fairness, she had met polite humans in the past. In the very distant past, but, nevertheless, they had lived and breathed once! She reminded herself how, once upon a time, the mountains had also been flat and the sturdiest of trees, seeds. Was she being unjust? She considered the possibility lightly, not fully taking into account the negative points in her own race as well. She had met more than enough fellow elves with undesirable traits as well; in fact, the vast majority of brothers and sisters she met had a personality complex of some sort. (Yet, elven numbers were dwindling, and one must stick together....) Her eyes re-focused on the path ahead of her. She had visited La Mar city a more times than she cared to admit, but, (thankfully) she had never had the (dis)pleasure of joining in on the 'festivities' in the local tavern. With good reasoning - the stench that reeked throughout La Mar city seemed to leak from the cracks in the bar's doors. Yet, she had business to attend to - and was running late. The day had slowly faded away into the early evening, and she finally began to take her time constraints seriously. Doing her best to ignore the off-handed stares from the local men at her man's trousers and clothing, she clutched the leather carrier bag slung over her shoulder and across her back closer to her hips. She stopped outside the tavern door to draw a last breath of relative cleanliness, ran a hand through the front of her long, well-groomed wavy brown hair, and, finally, drew the courage to open the door just enough to slip in sideways. Doing her best not to draw attention to herself more than necessary, her attentive blue eyes dashed about the room and quickly found their target. She nodded her head slightly, immediately seeing through his poorly disguised clothing, and started to make her way through the crowd, hoping he had spotted her as well. |

Location: La Mar City, Outskirts Date: 1st September Time: Early Evening Walking, Emry decided, was almost as boring as spending the past three thousand years milling about with only self-created fun to entertain him. And, well, everyone knew self-created fun was never as amusing as others-created fun - and nothing was quite as awesome as Nemesis-created fun. But walking - walking was pretty terrible, and as he approached a tavern in La Mar city, he decided to enter it against traveling to the heart of the city in search of better quality. He just wasn't too keen on prolonging his... walk. The first thing Emry Conte noticed when he walked into the tavern was the confused look a pretty little girl gave him for his white hair; he pouted at her (because he had nothing else to do) and winked when the confusion became admiration - he was good looking, if he did say so himself, especially - what had that last girl called them? Oh yes -- his alluringly captivating green eyes. Haha. Alluringly captivating. The second thing he noticed was that it was crowded; and the third thing he noticed, which probably should've been the first thing and just might have been if that pretty face hadn't distracted him, was the power that two people in the room unconsciously emanated. Power that was perhaps on par with an Elemental Wizard... Stars above, if Nemesis didn't show up soon, Emry was going to eat his boots. Maybe. Actually, no, that was a terrible idea, but the point was that he really thought his lord was going to return somewhere in the very-near future. It was a pleasing prospect, since he had spent the first thousand years telling himself that Nemesis was going to return - just in the very, very distant future. The distant future had finally arrived, and the thought was comforting. Comforting enough that Emry Conte decided to play a little - He had a choice between waylaying the girl (Elf, he thought with distaste. The whole lot of them, bar a few exceptions, all seemed to have a moral stick up their asses which really had been a pain three-thousand or so years ago). He quickly noticed that she was, in fact, making her way over to the boy (another elf, he noted). So his choice had been narrowed down to greeting an elf, or an elf - which really was the same choice, but for the first was female. Females could be so very annoying sometimes, what with their habit of screaming shrilly, so he went for the second option. Quicker than the girl, he approached the boy who was sitting in the corner with an impassive, somewhat regal expression - or was it sullen? "Mind if I join you?" he queried lightly with a charming smile. "The rest of the place seems to be all full." Emry took a seat without waiting for a response, part of his attention on the girl to see what her reaction to a newcomer would be. Edited by Teslyn, Feb 22 2009, 06:56 PM.

Location: ??? Date: Unknown Time: Afternoon? Night? Evening? afternooneveningmorning? The dark figure moved across the life-deprived ground, the figure sitting up from being covered in dark masses of cloth, as if awakened after a long rest. However, the figure had only been sleeping since the first meeting with the first Elemental Wizard, figuring that it was not needed to really do anything until later. The dark figure rose from the ground, disrobed and scarred. The figure's startling red eyes glanced around the room, feeling the elements are coming together and that they were beginning to form. Knowing that its' second-in-command leader was bored out of his mind, the dark figure had decided that it was time to awaken and begin to seek out those that would indeed help the figure in its quest to break the seal on Dark Chaos. Stepping over the dead corpses that were lying around the figure, it pulled out of the air a dark robe, completely swathed in dark magic and death, and pulled it over itself, covering the face completely with a mask. Taking off in an orderly fashion, it left where it had been resting and headed towards Procul Port, on the other side of the continent of the La Mar Kingdom. He could see the door from his far corner, and was mindful the instant it opened. His face altered slightly as a woman in men's apparel stepped through the slender span. Noting the look on her face, he approved as she clearly revealed the same disgust for humans as himself. His attention was riveted as she stopped briefly, her blue eyes scanning the room, and he realised she was probably searching for him. Leaning forward as her gaze settled on him he wondered why they had sent a girl. It could be only one of two reasons; they were very desperate, or she was very capable. Either way his curiosity was piqued, and a slight glint wavered to life in his eyes. He had been surprised, and too seldom did that happen. She had barely begun to move when a tall patron entered the establishment. He appeared to be another uninteresting human, and Faelin's watchful eye drifted to back to the lovely elf...with the blue eyes. She seemed very out of place, and was slow about making her way to him, but that just gave him more time to observe. His gaze strayed momentarily to her softly moving hips as she maneuvered through the throng of tables. The old fear clawed at his mind, what should he say? This would have been much easier had they sent a man. To his dismay the human made his way past her, "Mind if I join you?...The rest of the place seems to be all full," and settled into the seat opposite him. Faelin's eyes turned almost feral at the audacity of the man, but before he could respond the girl had arrived. He stood to greet her, bowing slightly from the waist, he spoke loud enough to be heard over the rumble of the room, but no more. "I am Faelin of the West River Clan. Please join me." Not wanting to appear rude, as there were no other seats in the establishment, he merely nodded to the human, "As you will, but if you light up any of that foul weed..." He let the threat hang while settling back into his chair. Edited by Oracle, Feb 22 2009, 08:43 PM.
