The nurse merely shrugged, "It might be helpful for you if you've made some friends... the Administration looks highly on connections; they can make you stronger in days to come." Alden tried to shrug off his uneasiness about her statement, "I'm gonna go in there with Willow. You two... have fun or something in here." |

Willow felt better as her head rested against the pillow, but she was still very sleepy. She hoped her version of events was enough to keep Alden and Roland out of Lockdown. If so they would probably be long gone soon. It was too hard to think straight with the pounding. Upsetting events had a habit of replaying over and over until the mind made sense of them, but she could no longer recall what they were. It was all starting to jumble, the only thing she could hold onto was... When she heard the footsteps she thought the nurse had finally come to check on her. She was beginning to wonder what the function of a nurse was. She had never needed one before, but she assumed it was to look after injured and sick people. With her eyes still shut, she spoke in barely a whisper. "It's about time, my head is killing me. It wasn't Alden's fault. Did I remember to tell you that?" Her hand reached up to the still bleeding lump. "Could I have some ice to put on my head? or a cool cloth at least?" Edited by Oracle, Feb 1 2009, 01:20 PM.

"You did tell her that... but you don't have to tell me, silly. I'll ask her for some ice," Alden had a small, silly grin on his face when he peeked around the corner, "Sickie wants some ice." He then turned and took the bed beside Willow, laying down to face her. The nurse came in with a thing of ice for Willow. |

Roland moved to the room in which Willow rested, leaning up against the wall as he had been earlier. He watched the two of them almost protectively, he felt responsible for the girl's condition more than he understood he should. His welcome with the two in the room was sure to be short lived. However he had no where to go, and if he did leave he would probably be shipped off to Lockdown. He had no desire to go into lockdown, the restriction was cruel at best and the idea of it made him sick. He would go if he was forced to though, he would show them that he could handle whatever punishment they chose to inflict upon him. The problem was, he disagreed with the reasons for his punishment, as well as the reasons for the punishment of others. His anger had dimmed noticeably since their arrival at the nurse's office, but inside him the anger still boiled. He said nothing as he stood and waited, eventually someone would decide to speak with him. If on the off chance they didn't, so much the better. It would prolong the inevitable situation that was sure to arise the next time he stepped foot in a class. Hopefully the next time he wouldn't pull others down with him. |

"You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it." "Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, 'cause it's going to be empty." | |

"Sorry Alden, I thought you were the nurse. I'm glad I don't have a severed limb." She almost chuckled, but the motion made her stomach clench. As the nurse set the bag on her head, her relief was palpable. She tried to open her eyes, but groaned at the pain the rooms simple light caused. In the brief moment her eyes were open, she noticed that Roland had come into the room too. She hadn't expected that of either of them. The nurse looked at her eyes and readjusted the ice on her head. "Let me know if the headache gets any worse. I think you should be okay, you just need to lay still for a day, or until the headache goes away. I'm not going to medicate you, because then we won't know if you're getting better. Will we?" She glanced at the boys, "It is important that she doesn't sleep for a few hours. Do you think you could keep her occupied? It couldn't hurt to make friends." As soon as she left Willow spoke up, "Looks like Lockdown might have been easier." She pulled her legs up making some room at the bottom of the cot. "You may as well be comfortable Roland. Thanks for sticking around." Edited by Oracle, Feb 2 2009, 06:35 PM.

Alden sent her a small grin before pulling out a deck of his clear cards, "Either of you know how to play anything? We might as well do something other than talk... it's not like any of us know each other well enough for conversation more than 20 questions." |

Willow looked strangely at Alden. "I've never played cards, but I'm willing to try. Something easy okay? I can't think too well. Please play too Roland. I'm not use to having people to talk to, it's nice." |

Roland grinned at the other boy and then stepped forward eying the cards closely. He did in fact know how to play a great many cards. He also knew how to cheat at everything he knew how to play, which was saying a lot since it was more difficult than you would think to cheat at slap jack. " I know how to play a few games here and there. Although I've rarely had an opportunity to do so with anyone other than myself. Of course we could play 20 questions, although I sincerely doubt anyone would be happy with any of the answers they got." ((Wow short, the pain of it. I'm just trying to move things along.)) |

Alden smiled and started setting up a game of Cheat, "It's a lot more fun with three or more people... but you can watch first, Will." They played, Roland winning painlessly. Alden shrugged and dealt the cards to all three of them. He had never been good at cards anyway... it was just something to pass the time. Hours and many card games passed before the nurse came in again, "You have all been excused from your punishment and food is available in the cafeteria. Before you go, though, let me check you out, here, Ms Willow." She knelt and passed a light in front of Will's eyes again, nodding, "Looks a bit better already. Remember what I said about sitting still, perhaps have a friend help you with your books so you don't drop your things again. I think you're gonna be alright." |

The throbbing headache had receded to just an average pain. She was almost disappointed when the nurse returned and allowed them to leave. She had never had so much fun. Alden and Roland had kept her so entertained she hardly noticed the time fly by. When the nurse excused them from punishment, and mentioned food, she smiled at the boys. Then to her embarrassment her stomach growled, and she remembered she had never gotten the chance to eat her apple that morning. With an flush faced grin she decided to let the laughter win out, " As it is so plainly obvious, I haven't eaten yet today. I could use some food. You guys must be hungry too." |
