The wall had very slight indentations, perfectly hidden from the human eye, on the leftmost center of each dense spot. With the right amount of pressure, these indentations could be used as handles- and the heavy metal of the false wall would open to reveal a staircase and tunnels- as well as faint screams from somewhere down the tunnelway.

Quietly working Roland deftly removed the first panel he came to and set it down as silently as he could. Any noise he made could be a problem, and the noise he was hearing from the other end of the strange hidden staircase warned him that he did not want to alert whoever was down there to his presence. From out of a pocket he took pieces of foam and used them to pad the bottoms of his shoes as he had done walking ventilation shafts in the past. It would keep him from making too much noise when he started down there, and his computer would help keep him away from people he didn't want to see.

As he finished with his preparation and took a calming breath he set the computer to search for life and heat signals instead of scan the walls and floors. After a few moments of walking figures, chances, risks, and possibilities through his mind he began to move. Slipping the wall back into place as he descended he turned quickly when the job was done. Despite the relative lack of noise any vigilant guard would have noticed the muffled sounds from the staircase. And as the sounds from the tunnels below continued he was certain they had a rather select few who visited these underground warrens, and why they would put the entrance in just any hallways was beyond Roland at this point. There had to be a reason but it was impossible to tell if he couldn't see what was going on here. So it wasn't a moments more thought before he started off, if it was up to him he would have to start carrying a weapon, this place had a sinister air that made him feel like the idiot in a horror movie, the one who died because he thought he could fight off the monsters with his bare hands.

As Roland continued down the halls, the screams grew louder. Soon, he would come upon a hallway of rooms. Each room had one door and a large window for observation. Two of the rooms contained young adults- obviously not much older than Alden or Willow. They were hooked up to machines and medicine. Each door was labeled with a name and Elevated Release date.

Another hallway contained the source of the screams. Inside this hallway were multiple operating rooms where surgeons were doing brain surgery- sometimes on a conscious patient. In other OR's, they were pumping rather vacant seeming youths full with a milky liquid. And in yet others, the screams came from apparent electric shocks from metal plates and wires which circled their shaved heads.

The hallways seemed designed for people to be seen as little as possible by those in the rooms... and there appeared to be no guards posted.

Alden shrugged, getting a bit of white paste-like substance from his pack and spreading it over the bottom of his board, "Will's never been in trouble before today... and, well, she got caught by Roland and me and ended up late to Mercer's class. We ended up with Lock Down... but on the way," he jerked his head up toward Willow, continuing with the paste, "she passed out and managed a concussion. So Nurse Thrace listened to our story... and, well," he chuckled, "we got out of Lock Down. Then... the whole secretive call to the buses and this Limbo business wore her out even more. She's a bit high strung..." he grinned, "but I like her. I just wish I'd really noticed her before today."

Ryuu nodded as he listened to Alden's explanation. He placed a thoughtful expression on his face before he replied to Alden, at which he grinned back in return although his smile was more cat-like than a regular smile.

"She's in one of my classes and just sits a few seats away from mine," he said. "I've always watched the few in my classes that seem to catch my interest. Yes, from what I've seen in class, she is, isn't she?" Ryuu placed his board down, his feet resting on top of it as he continued to write on his music sheets.

He paused a moment before doing anything more. He looked thoughtful for a moment before he asked, "How long have you known Roland?"

Alden shrugged, "Just met him today... odd, really- neither of us have been particularly successful gaining friends in the past- not that I'm entirely sure he'd ever tried... but even so... we both have gained two friends today," he cocked his head and a twinkle in his eye, speaking thoughtfully "perhaps two."

As he slid through the hallways as silently as he could manage Roland began to understand the evils of the world just that much better. Whatever was going on in these halls it would take more than even his substantial intellect to deal with it, but he wouldn't be able to do anything if he could prove nothing. At that point he was already trying to decide on an escape route, how far he should go before he fled once more, and trying to figure out if he could program his small computer to unleash a jamming signal for cameras that might be watching his wayward walk down the hall of torture.

As he managed to get the computer producing a signal that seemed right for the purpose he had chosen he used the camera attachment to take pictures of the names and release dates, and a video of the goings on behind the doors. After a few moments to be sure the data was properly saved he activated the program that would hopefully fry any nearby cameras and the relative memory. If there were cameras he could not see then this would keep them from realizing who was down here, even if it would probably confirm that someone had been down here. If there were not any cameras watching these slowly shrinking hallways then all was well and good. Even as intelligent as he was Roland was only a young man, the surrounding had caused paranoia to rear it's ugly head, and as soon as the device had been activated and the sudden burst of signal had killed his battery he was off. Moving back the way he had come as quickly and quietly as he could manage, if someone came down here now he was screwed.

A red light suddenly turned on in the Director's office. Immediately, an order was sent out to find out the cause of the camera failure.
One of the adults stood from their desk calmly and headed toward the faculty bathroom. Inside, they pulled aside a panel and went down a set of stairs rather similar to the ones Roland had entered.
From there, they armed themselves with a taser and headed into the hallway through another door- ready in case they found someone who was not supposed to be there. One wrong turn, and Roland would run directly into them.

Ryuu merely smiled at Alden's comment about only meeting him recently, his mischievous smile causing a strange glitter in his eye.

"Yes, strange of character indeed, but I'm sure you both had your reasons as to why you've never successfully kept a friend," he said with a thoughtful expression. He turned his expression to Alden, smirking broader.

"Sure, why not, count me in," he said, leaning back. He relaxed on his bunk, letting his legs hang over the side before he placed his music notes back inside the bag and hopping back down again.

"Hmm... I'm sure that there's something else that we can do in here, even if we are sharing this room with many others, I do wonder what we are going to do here," he mused aloud, for some reason feeling on guard. He never liked following big crowds nor sharing rooms that often; he's more of the preferred loner type of guys but will be fine with several others that don't bug him. For Ryuu, this place felt suspicious, even if it was for the "Elevated"... situation... thing...

For now, he'll have to make do and just remember things mentally as something was bound to happen soon.

As he began his ascent from the bowels of this man made Hell Roland found it difficult to refrain from quoting greater words than his inside his head. As nervous and probably afraid as he was even his rational mind refused to be completely calmed with facts or science. And so with his steps as silent as he could make them he began to move a little quicker, he had no idea who might be down here and who might be on their way to check on a wire he had tripped or anything else he had done. If knocking out the cameras had knocked out something more important they could be down to check on them, or even on simply the cameras although it seemed a strange thing to be instantly alerted to as he thought of it.

Without his computer he would have no truly advanced warning as to the location of anyone that might come looking for him. He was unarmed but he doubted that another could move as silently as he, of course he had a long practice at moving quietly while others attempted to look for him and the task at hand suited him well. His method at this point was simple, walk slowly without making any noise, and be ready to change paths at the slightest hint that someone was moving his way. Without his computer he was at a disadvantage, but he had alluded teacher before he had ever owned the little hand held computer if not to the extent that he had been avoiding them recently. So switching paths carefully and listening for anyone that might be looking for him he moved onwards, ready to get into some semblance of hiding and to change direction at a moment's notice. He couldn't risk being caught down here and ending up like those poor individuals caged for experiments.

The man thought he heard something down the hall, but when he reached the intersection, there was no one to be seen. He shrugged and made his way further toward the cameras that had become faulty. If there was proof of tampering, they'd be able to tell who might have been the culprit from video within the barracks. If not, well, it always paid to be paranoid when you were up to no good.

Just in case, he sent a message to Control, saying that they might want to send a patrol or call for assembly. The Director chose the latter and an announcement came over the com, "We would like everyone to head toward the cafeteria. Escorts will be arriving shortly to help you on your way. We hope you enjoy your first dinner as Elevated pupils."
