“WOULD YOU JUST SHUT UP ALREADY? I’VE HAD IT!”

She went to fire off another round of destructive attacks at Sparra, and to her horror and his surprise… the pistol violently exploded in her hands. Sparra lowered his hands after the blast calmed down.

“Are you alright, kid?!”

There she stood hunched over, clothing in singed and in tatters and soot all over her body. Her hands began to shake and she tightly clenched them into fists. Teeth grit, she raised her head to look up at Sparra who stared back in alarm.

“Whoa whoa whoa, calm down, I was only askin’ – !”

Without warning, she lurched forward and began to savagely batter Sparra, who was having a hard time blocking her at this point because both her strength and speed were drastically increasing. Twisting her body around, she spun her leg into a roundhouse kick. Sparra brought his arm up to block and her foot connected with the limb, suddenly igniting with bright green light. A loud crack was heard, and Sparra was sent sliding back. He gripped his left arm, which was now broken and frantically began to rummage around in his head for ideas as Izumi began to walk towards him.

“Shit shit shit… that gun must have been some sort of focal point for her reiatsu… and now that it’s broken it’s spiraling out of control. Think Sparra, think! Yer a captain for fuck sakes!”

He didn’t want to kill her, nor did he want to use his zanpakuto for a fight like this. There had to be some sort of method that didn’t involve either of those things…

That’s it! He didn’t know why it didn’t occur to him earlier!

Sparra held his good arm out, concentrating and putting all of his energy into this kido as Izumi drew closer and closer. Here’s to hoping that training session with his Lieutenant had paid off.

“BAKUDŌ SPELL NUMBER SIXTY-THREE, SAJŌ SABAKU!”

Large golden chains appeared, wrapping themselves around Izumi and firmly restraining her. Terrified, she began to thrash around in an attempt to break the chains binding her, but nothing worked.

“It’s useless to fight against it, that’s a high level kid spell,” Sparra remarked, mentally patting himself on the back for not messing it up, “yer only going to waste yer energy if you keep strugglin’.”

“This isn’t enough to stop me!” Izumi exclaimed, still struggling to break free despite what he told her. “YOU HAVEN’T WON BASTARD!”

Sparra shunpo’d behind her, startling the girl. He gently placed a hand on her head and muttered something under his breath.

Inemuri.”

Suddenly, Izumi collapsed to the ground at Sparra’s feet. He lowered his hand and looked down at her still body.

“I said I wasn’t goin’ to kill you and I meant it. Now just lie there for a while and calm down. Once you wake up, yer free to do whatever you want with yer life and I hope this time for yer own sake that you encounter the right people and make the right decisions,” he sighed and looked around at his surroundings, “now to hopefully find a way out of here…”

Kai looked at Gen as they both took a step back from each other. They both gripped their blades so tightly as so much was riding on this current fight and this time there were no life bars or lives. They both knew this, that one of them would actually die after this fight, but obviously neither of them wanted to be that one who kicked the bucket

"Why don't you just save us the trouble of all this little stuff and bring out your full power", Gen said, anticipating the power he knew Kai had

Kai paused momentarily before opening his mouth

"You don't deserve to see my full power"
"Oh don't give me that, you'll die if you don't"

Kai looked to the ground, he still couldn't believe he had Eiyuu back in his hands. He smirked as he lifted his blade up

"Just like old times huh"

”Isamu! No! Please don’t die, you’re all I have left!” she cried. There was blood all over her hands gathered from the still body she clutched tightly in her arms. A menacing group of men surrounded her. The one in the middle, most likely the leader of the gang, smirked down at her aiming his weapon at her.

“See? This is what happens when you cross us. He got what he deserved, and now it’s time clean up this mess by finishing you off.”
The same scene kept flashing before her eyes; blood spraying all over her while her brother died before her eyes after being gunned to death. It replayed like a broken record, her screams magnified each time, the scene becoming slower and more vivid with each replay.

“I-Isamu… ISAMU!”

And in that moment, something deep within her ignited and erupted like a violent flame.

Izumi awoke on a cold slab of rock, the chains still strongly bound to her frame. Her vision slid over to Sparra, who had his back turned to her and was mumbling to himself about something. He stopped abruptly and turned around.

“Oh,” Sparra remarked with raised eyebrows, “Yer actually awake after that? Yer pretty tough, kid.”

“What’s going on? Why am I still tied up?” she asked groggily, struggling with great effort to sit up. Sparra looked around and rubbed the back of his neck.

“Sorry. I’ve been tryin’ to find a way out of here for the past hour. But, I’ve had no luck with that,” he sighed, slumping his shoulders forward in defeat. Izumi looked away.

“It’s probably because you didn’t finish me off like you were supposed to. Shigeru has this whole thing set up like a death match. The victor is freed from the realm and the loser spends eternity here rotting.”

Sparra blinked, “Damn, for a little kid he’s pretty morbid.”

“Look,” Izumi scowled, “Just finish me off already, you’ve already won obviously. So just put me out of my misery already.”

He observed the girl in front of him, noticing the evident sadness in her eyes. She lowered her head and closed her eyes, almost as if she was ashamed to even look him in the face. He felt a twinge of empathy for the girl; whatever she had gone through, obviously it was still greatly affecting her to this very second. He walked over to her and put his uninjured hand on tensed shoulder.

“Listen. I’m not goin’ to kill you, or ‘put you out of your misery’ for that matter. You deserve a second chance just like everyone else in the world. Whatever happened to you in the past, you should let it make you a stronger person, not let it ruin you. Yer still living, so that has to mean something. Yer life is just as valuable as anyone’s and I’m not goin’ to take away that chance for redemption because yer stuck feelin’ sorry for yerself. Yer young, yer alive, and that’s all the reason you need to get out of here and start over.”

Izumi finally got the courage to hold her head up and she gazed into his teal eyes for quite some time, taking in the fierce kindness of his expression. She would have never expected someone like him to treat her with such respect, such sympathy. Izumi glanced down at her lap and smiled.

“You know, I thought you were an idiot at first, but there’s really more to you that meets the eye,” she mused, “I wish… I really do wish you had been the one to save us instead of Gen.”

“What do you – ,” Sparra had begun to ask when the ground beneath them released a violent tremor. They both looked around, panicked.

“What the hell is goin’ on?!” Sparra exclaimed. Izumi froze, a horrible feeling in the back of her mind ebbing its way to the surface.

“Its Shigeru. He’s destroying the realm and everything in it because you didn’t finish me off! You have to do it or you’ll be killed!”

“I told you I’m not!” Sparra exclaimed. Suddenly, he hoisted Izumi up with his good arm and held her firm against his side, “If it means your survival, then I’ll tear this place apart by force if I have to!”

“You really are… too stubborn for your own good,” she remarked with a sad smile. Sparra had parted his lips to speak, cut off from a intense explosion that had suddenly erupted from his side where he was clutching Izumi, engulfing them both.

Kai and Gen were locked up once again and began to push each other backwards and forwards. Gen managed to get the upper hand and push Kai back slightly. As he ran for him, Kai held his Zanpakuto up and held firm against Gen's. Gen continued to run as he continued to pile on the pressure he was exerting. Kai was running bacwards, keeping his blade steady as the pressure increased. Then in one sudden movement, Gen's blade was hoisted upwards and Kai flashed past him. There was a moments silence and blood shot out of Kai's shoulder, but nothing from Gen. Gen's face turned from surprise to glee as he slolwy turned around

"No dice that time my friend....no dice"

Kai held his shoulder, he didn't even predict that attack was coming. He looked up at Gen as he got back to his feet

"I'll give you bloody dice...."

The screen blacked out and Shigeru huffed in agitation as he sat back in his chair.

“I can’t believe she actually used it… oh well. There’s definitely no chance he survived that blast either. Two birds, one stone,” he shrugged, fiddling with some controls on the hug keyboard spread out in front of him. He heard a large clatter suddenly, and spun around to see that the door he bolted shut earlier was now in fact cut to pieces. A tall figure then stepped through the man-made hole, halting a few feet away from Shigeru.

“Guess I should have set harder traps, huh?” Shigeru smirked. Abarai shrugged and rested his zanpakuto across the width of his shoulders.

“It’s not that they were hard, you just underestimated your opponent. Haven’t you ever heard of not doing that?”

Embarrassed, Shigeru huffed and turned his back to Abarai, facing the screen once more, “Of course I have! Just because I’m young doesn’t mean I’m stupid!”

Shakkaho.”

The screen in front of Shigeru exploded, and he threw his arms in front of his face to protect himself from the resulting debris. When the light and smoke died down, he looked at his demolished station in horror.

“WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM?” he shouted, jumping up from his seat to face Abarai. Abarai lowered his hand.

“You’re being rude. Face me head on and stop wasting my time. If you’re scared to fight me, speak up and I’ll let you go.”

“I-I… I DON’T HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU! YOU HAVE NO AUTHORITY OVER ME!” infuriated, he whipped out his tablet and started pressing numerous commands on the touch-screen, “I’LL SHOW YOU! YOU’LL THINK TWICE BEFORE TALKING DOWN TO ME!”

The scene changed and Abarai found himself in a deserted battlefield surround by, once again, many monsters of different shapes and sizes. Abarai sighed, this was really beginning to get old.

“Here in this world, I’m God! I rule everything! I decide who lives or dies! None of you can control me because I call the shots! You think I’m just some brat who doesn’t know any better? I’ll show you! I’ll prove you all wrong!”

“You talk entirely too much.”

Shigeru gasped. As he looked around, he noticed carnage all around him. How, how had he defeated all of his creations that fast? It’s impossible! There was no struggle… nothing!

“W-What? How did you -!”

“Kirahara-taichou gave me a duty to fulfill. I’m not here to play your games; I’m here to make sure that duty gets carried through. The only reason I’m not killing you right now is because that wasn’t specified in my orders.”

Shigeru became seized with terror. He didn’t know what this man was capable of, but he knew in this condition he wouldn’t be a match for this shinigami. He needed to retreat as fast as possible and think of a plan to take him down!

He knocked Abarai’s zanpakuto away, stumbling and breaking into a run. He needed to get out of here, he needed time! He needed –

Shibireyubi.”

Shigeru promptly fell face first to the floor, unable to move any limb whatsoever. He tried to speak, to make any sort of sound and that proved impossible. Abarai towered over him, regarding the youth with a heavily irritated expression.

“You should regain speech momentarily, but you’re going to be stuck like this until I say otherwise,” he then hoisted Shigeru over his shoulder, “Jeez, if I wanted to baby-sit, I could have stayed behind and watched Kataoka-taichou’s or Kankuro-taichou’s kid…”

Kai ran at Gen who stood there with his sword out to the side, there was no defensive stance? Just what was he thinking? He slashed at Gen and connected with flesh. Blood fell to the floor from the end of his blade as he turned around and looked at Gen, now with a fresh slash down his chest. Did he just take that hit on purpose? He didn't even try to dodge that attack. Kai lifted his blade up in front of him, he didn't trust Gen, there was something weird about how he was acting

"Good....that felt....good"

Good? But he was just slashed down the chest...how could that feel good?

"You have the resolve....you have a reason to fight"

What was this crap he was spouting?

"Kai...I knew I was onto a winner here...."

Is he for real?

"It's just a shame....that you we couldn't have been friends for that little bit longer"

Gen turned and faced him, malice all over his face. That smirk was so big it could have filled a football stadium. Kai gripped his Zanpakuto, this was nowhere near finished

"Well maybe if you weren't such a trickster...."
"Ha...trickster....you kill me"
"That can be arranged"
"If you think you can....then show me you can"

Kai clenched his fist, he knew he could beat him, he still had Bankai up his sleeve. Nothing would stop him from winning this fight, nothing

They were in a clearing, far away from the bustle of the neighborhood they all had arrived at. Isshin sat cross-legged on the damp grass, his haori beside him, as Jin went to work patching up his wounds from battling Orochi. Tempted to remark on Isshin’s injuries, Jin kept his mouth forcefully shut as he remembered the last time he made a comment about this subject – Isshin binded Jin’s mouth shut with a kido spell that lasted nearly a month before wearing off.

Hearing the leaves rustle, their attention turned when they noticed someone walking towards them in the darkness. Jin relaxed and Isshin let out a sigh of relief when the figure stepped into the dim light. It was Sparra, covered in blood and ash on the right side of his body, and he was gripping his broken left arm with a bewildered expression on his face.

“Sparra what on earth happened to you?” Isshin frowned, thoroughly looking over the red-head as he plopped down beside him and let out an exhausted sigh.

“I could ask you the same thing, you look like you went through a paper-shredder,” Sparra joked. Isshin laughed lightly, to which Jin’s jaw almost dropped from shock.

“It is nothing to remark about, although I cannot say the same for Orochi. I am quite certain he would rather be in my shoes as of right now.”

Sparra smirked, running a bloody hand through his sweaty, tousled hair. He glanced around as if expecting someone, “So Kankuro and Chou haven’t shown up yet? I thought for sure they’d be out here by the time I got back… Speaking of which, where’s my Lieutenant?”

Another figure appeared in the clearing, he was walking with a limp andfell to one nee when he reach his fellow Captain's

"That...took a bit too much out of me"

Vance looked over at Sparra and Isshin and smirked

"Heh...", He said straightening up, "That guy really did a number of me"

He stretched out his Captain's jacket and rips could be seen at the bottom of it and all down it

"He went and ripped my Captain's Jacket...."

Vance looked around and saw Jin, but no one else

"Chou not here? That's surprising....I hope she's okay"

---
Speaking of Chou. Asakura was still prepping herself up by punching her fists into the other hand repeatedly

"She's underestimating me"

She smirked as she took a fighting stance

"I'll show you...."

“Took you long enough,” Sparra playfully punched him in the arm, “did the legendary Vance actually run into some trouble with his opponent?”

I know they don’t expect me to heal all of them, I’m not some first aid kit from cryin’ out loud,” Jin inwardly griped as he finished up patching Isshin and moved on to tend to Sparra’s wounds. In a fit of irritation he pulled the gauze a bit too tightly around Sparra’s bicep and the red-head winced, shooting him a dark glare.

“Ouch, hey watch it! Some of us actually fought you know!”

Blushing from embarrassment, Jin growled, mumbling something under his breath about ‘being only an errand boy’ and ‘not getting paid enough for this’. Abarai then appeared via shunpo, carrying a stiff Shigeru under his arm. He laid the youth down at the base of the tree, wiping sweat from his brow. A bit confused, Sparra raised an eyebrow at his lieutenant’s antics.

“Oi Shinso, what’s with the brat?”

“Sorry taichou, your orders didn’t specify to kill so I thought I’d bring him back for interrogation. I paralyzed him with a kido spell, so he’s completely harmless for the most part,” Abarai explained, swiftly kicking Shigeru in his thigh to illustrate this point. Shigeru let out a whimper, mentally shouting a stream of swears at the violet haired lieutenant. Entirely oblivious, Abarai glanced up at the sky, noticing the dark void that hung over them.

"I’m assuming that Kai Haineko is still fighting him then? Maybe it’s time to intervene.”

“That will not be necessary,” Isshin cut in, “It is essential that the boy finish this battle on his own. I believe Sparra briefed you on the special circumstances of this skirmish and the man he is currently fighting against.”

Away from the group of Shinigami, Jakoby’s attention was fully fixed on the dark void suspended in the air. His expression was grim as he tore his troubled gaze away.

-

“Show me what? You’ve been standing there for the last ten minutes obnoxiously pounding your fists. You’re not even worth any of my time,” Chou snapped, “if you want an early death then come at me then so I can put you in your place already!”

Vance looked at Sparra and smirked

"Let's just say it wasn't the easiest of fights", He said, "And it really wasn't..."

He turned and looked up at where Kai was fightning and smirked

"He'll win...he always does"

---
Asakura closer her eyes and too a deep breath, she wasn't gonna let this Shinigami rile her up

"And like you've moved from the spot? Seriously....you think you're so high and mighty..."
