A/N- Well, this is the last chapter of part one. It's not my favorite by any means, but for all my fussing with it, I couldn't make it any better. Hopefully by next week Monday, I'll have the first chapter of Part Two done, which is where we meet the new CEO of Wolfram and Hart, and find out WHY vampires could enter the house uninvited. Stay tuned!!

~~~
Chapter Six
Spike and Connor made their way into the lobby of the Hyperion hotel only an hour before sunrise. Making sure that house had been completely closed off from vampires and that every one was gone took longer than they thought, but it was also lucky that their home was nearby. “What I don’t understand,” Spike said, continuing a conversation from outside, “is how they all got in there in the first place.”
“Maybe they just kept inviting strangers into the house for the night,” Connor said. Spike just rolled his eyes.
“There was a call while you were out,” Illyria called to them from the front desk, the cube in her hand. “Someone named Willow.”
“Red called? What’d she have to say then?”
Illyria cocked her head to the side. “She told me to have you call her back.” Rising, she walked past them and up the stairs. “I do not wish to answer the phone again. They are troublesome and I feel like a slave.”
“Wait, Lyri! We…” Connor trailed off when he saw that she wasn’t paying him any attention. “Now what. Star 69 it?”
“Or we just dial it,” Spike said, holding up a napkin with Willow’s phone number on it written in Illyria’s hand. “You’re not big with the detective skills, are you?”
“Shut up.”
Spike just laughed at him as he dialed the number. As he talked with the witch, Connor moved off towards the weapon cabinet and began to clean and sharpen those that had been used tonight. It didn’t take long at all, but it was better to be careful than to have a weapon covered in demon blood the next time you needed it. As it was, Spike’s phone call didn’t last long either, and both were done just a bit after the other. “Oz found her,” Spike told him.
There was no need to say who her was. “Where?”
“Never used the tickets. Dog-girl is still here.”
~~~

They had no car. It was apparent that Angel’s old car was no longer around and they also no longer had access to the ones at Wolfram and Hart. So they had no car. Spike made a mental note to buy one off a demon he knew as he unhappily paid the cabbie that brought them to Nina’s home. By the time Spike made it to the front step, Connor had already run the bell and the door was opening.

“Oh my god. Connor? What are you doing here? Did..did Angel send you? Is everything alright? Who are you,” she asked, looking at Spike. She gave him no chance to respond before moving on to her next question. They let her ramble on for a fe more seconds before Spike interrupted.

“Love? Mind talkin’ ‘bout this all inside?”

“What? Oh. Yeah. Sure. Come on in.”

The three ventured into the living room. The TV was on some late night –or early morning—infomercial though the volume was down low. “Can’t sleep?” Spike asked her.

Nina nodded. “I’ve been getting strange nightmares and some headaches ever since Angel gave me those tickets.”

“That’s actually why we’re here,” Connor said slowly. “It’s about my dad.” Nina stared at him.

“There’s no easy way to say this. Though, the fact that we’re here telling you this and Angel’s not should give you some indication,” Spike said. Closing her eyes, Nina nodded. She knew. “When he kissed you though, he passed on visions to you. Before him, Cordelia had them, and Doyle before her. You’re our direct link to the Powers That Be. We, that is, Connor and I, well, we would like you to join our team. We’re keeping on with what Angel did, and we can’t do much of anything without the hookup.”

“Powers That Be?”

“Also know as the Powers the Bugger Us All.”

“Spike? You’re not helping,” Connor said. Spike just shrugged. “We’re trying to fight the good fight, Nina. Like my dad was. The Powers, near as we can tell, are the good guys. They’re the ones that tell us where to go and what to do. The nightmares you’ve been having?”

“They’re visions, aren’t they?” Nina realized. “I had one right before you came. A bar called Bloody Ashes or something like that.
There was a demon inside that was killing everyone inside, including humans.”

Spike leapt up. “That’s where we come in. You tell us, we kill ‘em.”

“I can work with that,” Nina smiled.

He was out the door before she had finished speaking. “We’re at the old Hyperion hotel if you want to come on by.”

“Connor!” Spike’s voice was loud as he yelled from outside. “See if Nina has a car we can borrow! Don’t fancy takin’ another cab and we still need to grab Blue!”

Nina sighed and handed over her keys.

~~~
Walking inside just as the sun peeked up over the horizon, Spike, Illyria and Connor dropped their weapons to the ground, bone tired, and sat on the steps. “Good fight,” Spike told them after a bit. The other two nodded, still winded. He let out a yawn. “Blood and bed for me. I’ll see you t’night.”
“Sleep well,” Connor called after him. He waved to show he heard before disappearing onto the second floor.
“I have a surprise for you,” Illyria told him.
“Oh?”
She nodded and went into the back office, coming back with the Rubik Cube. All the sides were once again the same color and Connor grinned. “Thought you didn’t have time for mortal foolishness.”
“It kept me amused while you and the vampire were gone. I threw it against the wall many times before I figured out its secret.”
“Secret?”
“These colors. They are removable. I took them off, the placed them back on so all sides matched.”
“You do realize that’s cheating, right?”
~~~

Through mist, an outline of a body appeared. Slowly, as the mist swirled around it, the figure moved forward until it stopped.
“Where am I?” it asked.

“Heaven, or a part of it.”

“Cordelia?”

“Hiya Champ.”

“How am I here?”

Doyle stepped out from behind Cordelia. “You redeemed yourself man. Good work.”

“But the shanshu prophecy…”

“We were fooled Angel, all of us were,” Wesley told him as he appeared as well. “The prophecy wasn’t about life on earth. Just that a vampire with a soul would be granted new life. And you have been.”

“So, my new life is in Heaven?”

Cordellia smiled. “Not quite.” She waved her hand and Angel saw himself glow a before it subsided.

“What…”

“Congratulations. You’ve just begun your new life as Power.”

Angel stared at the original members of Angel Investigations and smiled. “This mean I get to make Spike’s life hell for him?”

Cordellia, Doyle and Wesley all laughed in a way they hadn’t in years. “Not yet, Champ. You need the tour first,” Cordellia told him.

The three friends moved off into the mists, dissipating from view. The last thing that was heard to be heard was Angel’s voice asking, “Where are those pearly gates I keep hearing about?”

Awesome chapter as always. But Illyria is my queen for sure.

Definite killer of the chapter. Had to stop and laugh at it.

And the new Powers.... :D :D :D

Can't wait for another Monday. Keep it up, Z.
