Mac Canon XF105 MXF to FCE import,Edit Canon XF105 MXF files in FCE on Mac

Canon XF105 is professional camcorder which offer vivid videos. It use the MPEG-2 named the Canon XF codec to ensure the widest compatibility with existing industry infrastructure and non-linear editing (NLE) systems. Using the MXF file wrapper that video and audio can be wrapped in a single file along with important metadata.

As far as we know, the MXF video format came from Canon XF105 that is highly compressed, it is not a good editing format. Final Cut Express does not work with Canon MXF codec, even Log and Transfer or Import directly does not work with the Canon mxf codec. Then how to import Canon XF105 MXF files to FCE for editing without any problem? Well, if you make the recordings editable before taking to the program, the incompatible error won't happen any more. Step 1. Add Canon XF105 MXF video files

Step 2. Set output profile

Click the "Profile" button, and then select "iMovie and Final Cut Express > Apple InterMediate Codec (AIC) (*.mov)" as output format.

Step 3. Set video and audio parameters. (Optional)

Click the "Settings" button to adjust the video and audio parameters by yourself. But if you are not good at it, you'd better use the default parameters, they will ensure you a good balance between file size and image quality basically. You can change the resolution, bitrate, frame rate as you need.

Step 4.Convert Canon XF105 MXF to AIC MOV on Mac

After the settings are setted, click "Convert" button to conver Canon XF105 MXF to AIC MOV for FCE 4.

Once the MXF to AIC MOV Conversion is done, you can click "Open Folder" to find the converted video files. Now you are free to import and edit Canon XF105 MXF files in Final Cut Express under Mac without any problems.
