Use iTunes to Extract Audio Files from Videos

Do you have some video clips that you want to have in audio form—say an MV bought from the iTunes Store that you'd like to enjoy on your iPod? A friend recently has told me a nice hidden feature in iTunes: he uses iTunes to rip audios from video podcasts.

If you select a video in your iTunes library—could be an MV, a TV show recorded by PVR, or concert video—and look in the Advanced menu, the Create AAC Version menu command is dimmed. (The format might be MP3 or Apple Lossless, depending on your import settings in iTunes' General preferences.) But if you press the Option key, this menu item changes to convert to AAC (or, again, MP3 or Apple Lossless, depending on your settings). Select that command, and iTunes will happily rip the audio from the video, such as PVR to MP3.

Actually, you can also extract audios from YouTube or Vimeo videos by converting YouTube/Vimeo to MP3 by iTunes in the same way mentioned above. What you only need to do is to download the videos, and drag them to your iTunes library in the right form. If the downloaded videos' formats are not compatible with iTunes, like FLV, you should convert them to iTunes-proper format in advance. Tips: Doremisoft Video Converter (Video Converter for Mac) can help you conduct the conversion perfectly.

Moreover, iTunes will enables them to convert songs in the iTunes library to another format. The converting will generate a copy of the audio in the format you've chosen, which gives you the alternative to either keep or delete the original file. When you convert an audio from a compressed to uncompressed one (for example, from MP3 to AIFF) you wouldn't notice any reduction in sound quality. However, while converting from an uncompressed to compressed format (eg. from AIFF to MP3, AIff to AAC), you should note that it will inevitably lose the sound quality.
