Hi
I have a DCR DVD 405. I want to transfer the recording (s) to Windows Moviemaker/iMovie to edit the videos. Unfortunately it keeps saying the format is not supported (or does not recognize the files)

I also have lot of recording from the mini DV s that I have transfered to the Hard Disks and the file format has been saved as VOB s.

Can someone please explain the steps I need to transfer and edit the files into Windows Movie Maker and iMovie

Appreciate guidance

I download and try the free version for Aunsoft MTS Converter for Mac .It is easy to convert the Sony CX550V 1080/60i .mts files. The software is a easiest method to solve the CX550 1920x1080 mts Mac Incompatibility issues.
For Stitch the mts files, tick the checkbox for “Merge into one file”, This Mac MTS Converter will join and combine the mts video clips into a single file as output.

This is the highlight ponit of Aunsoft. But you do not have a nice propagating. You should let more camcorder users knowing about this promotion.

Summary: The following article will provide a solution to successfully import Harry Potter series Blu-ray and DVD films to iTunes library for streaming to Apple TV 3 on Mac.

Apple TV 3 offers its users with full HD 1080p output. There is nothing eye catching as enjoying Harry Potter series films in high definition Blu-ray and DVD on Apple TV 3 with family and friends in the comfort of your home. However, it is well known that Apple TV 3/iTunes supports very few file formats, which include H.264 and MPEG-4 videos meaning Blu-ray/DVD cannot work with your Apple TV supported formats.

2. Choose output profile. You can easily find several optimized profiles for Apple TV 3 under "Apple TV" category. Here I recommend you select "Apple TV 3 1080P Dolby Digital Pass-through(.m4v)" which works well for ATV 3 while maintaining 5.1 surround. To get acompatible format for iTunes, you can choose HD MP4, M4V and MOV format.

Tip: You can click "settings" to change the setting from the new default HD profile 4000 to 5000~8000 bitrate (Note: bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss). Learn how to set up Apple TV for Dolby Digital 5.1 pass-through.

P.S. The key setting Video Size for your Apple TV is according to your source video exactly. If your source video is in 1080p such as Blu-ray, you can set your video size in 1920*1080 in H.264 codec; while, if your original video size is in standard, 720p in enough. For example, to play DVD on the Apple TV 3, 720*480 video size with 4000~6000kbps bitrate is enough due to the DVD movies' native resolution.

3. Press "Convert" to start converting Harry Potter series Blu-ray and DVD to Apple TV 3 MP4 videos with Dobly 5.1 audio under Mac OS X. The windows workflow is here. Wait till conversion completes. Then press "Open" to find the ripped movie.

4. Now you can add Blu-ray and DVD rips to iTunes movie library for streaming to Apple TV 3: Open up iTunes and follow "File>> Add file to Library…" to sync video to iTunes and then stream to ATV. MKV and Internet torrents movies can be also played on Apple TV.
