I started Fusion of the Towers about 4.5 years ago with a good friend of mine from high school, and we've been going ever since. In my (possibly biased) opinion, it's one of the greatest RP sites out there. :) We have lots of great members, and great writers, with space for everyone, whether it's your first RP site or you've been doing it for years. :D

The site centers around the White and Black Towers, but we'll basically accept any character and rank you want to create. :) It's set roughly 200 years after the books.

Not long ago, our new M'hael (aka Khira) wrote us a complete new history. :) It's not short, but if you're interested in the site, it's very much worth the read. :D

The Fused Towers

The Dragon Reborn planned and trained for the Last Battle for several years. When he realized that it was very close, he and his closest allies made a decision. Rather than fight the Last Battle in this world, they chose to take their army into an uninhabited world via Portal Stone and fight there, to avoid the devastation the war would bring, even if they won. Al'Thor's last wish before he left was that the Black and White Towers would make peace, there being no more reason for strife after saidin was cleansed. According to their leader's wish, the Asha'man moved their stronghold from Andor to Tar Valon. Once there, they erected a grand Tower, as tall as the White, again using both the Power and Ogier. This new tower, though, was jet black, rising next to the ivory home of the Aes Sedai. The Towers began to accept women into the ranks of Gaidin as well as men. They trained side by side, each earning their title as the fabled Gaidin.

After the Asha'man made their home in Tar Valon, they became far more accepted and trusted by the world, eventually becoming equal to Aes Sedai in political power. They created three Shens for their brotherhood, much like the Ajahs of Aes Sedai, each Shen under the rule of a publicly-known Rei. After the cleansing, the Red sisters recognized that their previous purpose was obsolete. Instead, they fell back onto another reason for their existence, hunting Darkfriends. Even so, the Ajah weakened quickly, now distrusted by most members of the Towers. As a means to recreate harmony, and save the White Tower's largest Ajah, a former Amyrlin and M'hael made a change. They decreed that the Red Ajah would henceforth be known as the Red Shen, and that it would admit both men and women. However, they were only admitted in pairs, one man and one woman, their only purpose is to hunt out and destroy Darkfriends. The Towers created their harmony quickly, even if in the years immediately after the Asha'man arrived it was a bit forced. Two hundred years have passed since the Dragon Reborn left to fight Tarmon Gaidon, and there has been no word on the state of the battle, most people take that to mean that it is not yet finished, and continue to wait. The current Amyrlin was raised as part of a pair from the Red Shen, and has been in power several years, but then the M'hael disappeared. He was replaced by the former Mahdi al'Tain, a wise and fair leader for the Black Tower. He in turn gave up his positions and has been succeeded by an Asha'man of the Aman Val. They have further fused the Towers, and work to keep the public opinion of channelers positive. Asha'man are no longer feared, but respected as equal to Aes Sedai, both in the world and in the Towers.

The world:

Rand al'Thor ruled most of the Westlands before he left for the Last Battle. He took an extensive amount of allies, soldiers, Aes Sedai and Asha'man with him for the Battle. But he left trusted men and women to rule the lands he had claimed as his own. For a while, they ruled in peace.

That while was not long. The Seanchan made bids for power. During two decades after Rand al'Thor left they expanded and ruled most of the western coast of Westlands. The Seanchan continent was in turmoil during these years. The Empress was killed suddenly and no successor had been chosen. An Emperor was chosen for the New Seanchan in the Westlands and two Emperors and one Empress claimed the title in Seanchan. It led to violent power struggles and civil wars, most likely fueled by the Shadowsworn. But the New Seanchan prospered. Until the Emperor of New Seanchan died after thirty years in power. None of the Seanchan inhabitants in the Westlands were of high enough Blood; the Emperor had been a suspicious man and had killed most of the Blood and raised few. With no one from the Westlands to claim the throne and the continent of Seanchan still struggling to find a real Emperor or Empress, the New Seanchan dwindled. Nearly half of the New Seanchan returned to their continent. The rest remained in the Westlands but no longer craved for power. The western nations reclaimed their lands and the Seanchan slowly but surely integrated with the natives.

The Seanchan were not the only one to expand. The Children of the Light regrouped. A few years after Rand al'Thor left, Rhadam Asunawa, the High Inquisitor, claimed the position of Lord Captain Commander as well and fused the Council of Anointed and the Inquisitors. The Hand of the Light took a permanent place inside the organization as an internal affairs police. New sects were created within, from herbalists to dogmatists, to help the organization with its task. The Children of the Light slowly gathered their strength and power and took a stronger hold on Amadicia, trying its best to keep parts of the nation from falling to the rein of the Emperor of New Seanchan. Once the Emperor died, the Children of the Light were quick to move. They supported the nations while they freed themselves from the Seanchan and smoothly expanded their influence in the process. An Embassy of Light was build to Tanchico, Falme, Jehannah, Ebou Dar and Bandar Eban.

Tear was ruled by Rand al'Thor's chosen men and women for a decade before it fell into civil war. Not all were ready to continue obeying Rand al'Thor's chosen High Lords when Rand al'Thor was gone, especially when the common people were strained by higher taxes than ever. When two High Lords were mysteriously found dead in their beds, mere power struggles escalated into a full-blown civil war. The people of Tear fell from poor to destitute, and the situation got even worse when Mayene attacked and captured Godan. Mayene was now a richer nation and was able to hold the city for five years undisturbed while the Tairen nobles fought for power in Tear. Finally a peace was made. The people were getting fed up with war and poverty and the attack by Mayene, so they supported the one man who promised them food and peace. The elected High Lord Moirin made a pact with the First of Mayene, giving Mayene the city of Godan in return of a steady supply of grain, fish and oil... indefinitely. The people of Tear were fed and looked after, and eight more High Lords were elected. But only Lord Moirin had signed the pact. The whole nation of Tear relied on that pact and Lord Moirin's position was secured. He all but ruled Tear by himself.

Cairhien erupted thirty years after Rand al'Thor left. First it was just an assassination there, a sudden disappearance of a High Seat, but as soon as the King chosen by Rand al'Thor was assassinated, the fight for the throne became violent. The war raged and then subsided, then raged again and affected the whole nation. After eight years, a King was chosen, but he lasted only two years and another war took place. But the Lords and Ladies of Cairhien were not only involved in a violent civil war, they were also scheming, manipulating, infiltrating their way into power in Andor. Through marriages and other ties they tried to take control over the major Houses of Andor and finally take the Throne. After sixteen years of violent struggles, finally a King was able to claim the throne permanently this time, with the support of the White and the Black Tower. The Cairhienins schemes in Andor continued.

Andor finally fell into civil wars as well as the Queen died with no heirs. The Cairhienin were not totally innocent but fueled the war in the hopes of claiming the Throne themselves after the war has torn the nation apart. There were two supported candidates, but the struggle could not be resolved without a war. But a surprise candidate finally claimed the Throne. The White Tower send a Gray sister, a distant relative of the Trakand family, to bid for power. And she became the Queen of Andor. The Cairhienin, faced by an Andoran Queen that would reign for centuries, pulled away from Andor.

After fifty years of co-operation, the White and the Black Tower had trained a decent number of Asha'man and Aes Sedai and were constantly recruiting. They sent Aes Sedai and Asha'man to help rebuild the ravaged nations. Especially Andor and also Cairhien and even Tear accepted the help. Bridges were build, buildings and statues restored and the nations financially helped. With the whole world in peace after more than fifty years of wars of power, the nations all came together to sign a treaty. Stability and peace were sought and valued and the treaty would prevent a nations against nations war. It was also designed to enforce agreed upon trade routes. The Third Compact, it was called, and it ensured economic stability and the survival of each nation.

For the next decades, peace did reign. Small skirmishes, some small civil wars and some give and take in border areas of nations did occur, but the White Tower and the Black Tower made sure that the Compact was enforced and no major war could take place.

Some skirmishes were not that small. The creatures of the Shadow still raged. A small village in as south as Andor was pillaged and destroyed by Trollocs, Dreadlords and Darkfriends. A trolloc attack was set on Maradon as well. Maradon became a city so thickly tied with superstition and fear that it was abandoned. A rogue Wilder was the official reason for Maradon's destruction, and Saldaea build a New Maradon, later called just Maradon, and the Old Maradon became a myth and then forgotten. The Blight expanded on the area.

Arad Doman and Tarabon yet again fought over the Almoth Plain and destroyed a new promising nation. Ideas of democracy and independence had brought people from Falme, Katar and surrounding areas into the Almoth Plain to create a new city – and a new, independent nation. Arad Doman and Tarabon, both craving to claim the area as their own, quickly saw their chance to capture the new city and the new nation. When attacked by both sides, the new nation fell before it could even rise and the Domani and Taraboner armies clashed in the new city. After a grueling war, both eventually had to retreated, undermanned and under-supplied. Neither could claim the area and the new inhabitants fled the destroyed city.

The most recent act of destruction took place in Tar Valon. A great feast, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Dragon Reborn's departure, was interrupted by a major attack of Trollocs and Dreadlords. A sore reminder that the Shadow was not dormant.

Today:

No word of the Last Battle has been heard. The Battle might still rage or be already over, the winner unknown.

The White Tower and the Black Tower are powerful and revered all around the world. Andor is still ruled by an Aes Sedai Queen, now more than two hundred years old. The Fused Towers are especially respected in Andor, Cairhien and Murandy and also in the Borderlands, where especially Asha'man have often fought against Trolloc raids in the Blightborder.

The Children of the Light are more powerful than ever. They control Amadicia and are especially respected in Tarabon, Arad Doman, Falme, Altara and Ghealdan. In the western coasts and areas of those nations still some Seanchan influences can appear, even very small Seanchan communities that still uphold some customs of the Seanchan. The Seanchan continent itself is still in turmoil, fueled by the Shadowsworn, and it will take long before it is strong enough to attempt a second Hailene.

The Third Compact is failing. More than a century of forced economic and military stability has not favoured some nations. Disharmony between Tear and Illian led into two coalitions; The Golden Alliance with Illian, Altara, Amadicia, Tarabon and Ghealdan, and the Alliance of Four with Andor, Cairhien, Tear and Murandy. These two factions are now in open war that has escalated so quickly that even the Fused Towers could do nothing to stop it. What will come of it?

Fusions if dying, so I posted a mass email to everyone in an effort to save the site. I decided to post it here as well, in case one of you is interested. You do not have to be an old member of Fusions to join, all the offers apply to any new member who announces themselves before the end of the month as well. Do join, and invite your friends too!

Due to the unfortunate disappearance and unlikely return of our Amyrlin, it is my sole duty to decide the fate of Fusions. The site has been dying for a long while now. Nothing has happened during the last six months or so. So I must admit, I am very tempted to close the site for good and leave it at that. However, Fusions would be celebrating its fifth anniversary around now. A lot of people have created wonderful characters and wonderful stories on the site, and I know that a lot of you would be sad to see the site gone. So, I am giving you all one last chance to save Fusions. I'm giving YOU the chance to save it. I cannot do it alone, I cannot do it with the few members who have still remained active on the site (I thank them most heartily).

So, if you are willing to return, if you are willing to RP, announce yourself! If by the end of the month we have ten members or at least twenty characters, I do believe that we can attempt to save our site. If not, I WILL close the site.

If we do get the members I believe is sufficient, the site will continue on a new track. The great war will be over and the White and the Black Tower will have suffered huge losses, including (if Mother does not return) the death of our dear Amyrlin. Ravaged lands need all the help they can get to return to their former splendour. Together we will brainstorm and create the new world after the war as we see fit. Cities will be lost, nations will have collapsed, according to our will.

All of those who do not announce themselves will lose their positions and their characters will be marked as lost during the war. All of those who are willing to return will receive a moderator position if they wish. You can continue with your old characters or discard them and create new. I do hope that those who are willing to run the site with me do consider creating at least one secondary character of inferior rank of their choosing as well. Yes, I mean that all of those who return before the end of the month can create or raise their old characters so that they can have up to three secondary characters created of or raised to ANY rank of your choosing. And, if Mother does not return, we will be in need of a new Amyrlin, who will be an Admin.

These are my terms, these are my offers. I hope to see ten or more of you by the end of the month. Will we see the end, or a new beginning? It is up to you.

Yours in the Light
