So after the first round in Barcelona, about 2 weeks a go, LMS looks to once again wow the crowds, at Monza, this time.

Peugeot took a win for the Number 7 in Monza, followed home by the Number 2 Audi and the Charouz Lola/Aston.

Peugeot went very well at Monza last year, but remember, Audi were not racing so Peugeot really had it easy, not much competition. But as with most the season, the arrival of Audi turns the race on it's head.

And with Audi and Peugeot knocking the spots of each other, don't count any of the "petrol" class out, seemingly lead by Charouz after round once with a great 3rd place on the new cars debut.

So it's going to be a hotly contended contest, and i have even touched on the 3 other categories yet!

The RS Spyders should go well again, in particular the Van Merksteijn car. But don't count out anybody as LMP2 is so close. Another great debut at Barcelona, the LMP2 Lola Coupe came 2nd in it's class. Could that be a suprise winner?

GT1 is not much choice, 2 Corvettes, 1 Aston, 2 Saleens and 1 Lamborghini. Take your pick.

GT2 is going to be a much more closely run thing. Ferrari and Virgo won at Barcelona, with the Porsches snipping at their heels. Although, i do think virgo will win again.

I'll post session times and pictures as they come through. Talk about the race meeting here!

Monza obviously favors the more powerful diesels (Peugeot and Audi). Peugeot has the upper hand with track experience, but I wouldn't count Audi out just yet. Unfortunately, Audi's main advantage was that they could use ALMS as a bit of a test series for LMS, but since ALMS has only raced on street circuits besides Sebring (which Peugeot was also in), they won't have anything to translate to Monza. For now, I'd favor Peugeot in this race.

Charouz is quite a darkhorse, but I still think everyone is too far behind Audi and Peugeot. Even if there is some argy bargy in the front, a 1000km race is long enough that if the damage isn't terminal, the teams can rebound.

The RS Spyder won't be as good as it was in Barcelona, in my opinion. Monza is a high-speed circuit, and the RS Spyder has a lot less power. While it won't be able to mix it up with the LMP1 boys, as it did in a few sessions, I wouldn't count them out of another LMP2 victory.

Hopefully Aston wins in GT1, but I have a feeling it will be Corvette.

In GT2, I think the Ferraris will fair a bit better than the Porsches. No matter what form of motorsport, Monza is a good track for Ferrari, even if it isn't a factory team.

It should be a competitive race.

Yeah, typically the Ferrari drivers are more experienced, and the cars are tuned to run best on Monza.

I've always liked the Monza course, an advanced oval shape. Makes for lots of speed.
