Amelia Hawkwood was the oldest child of House Hawkwood. As befit someone of her station and gender, she spent her early years training in the gentle arts appropriate to being a woman. Given her father's ... unorthodox views on the role of women, she also learned to use a rapier. At the age of 18, she was married to Gerard Sedelscombe. This was mostly brought about because, for a woman of her time, the choice was either marriage or a nunnery. Too independent-minded (a trait she inherited from her father) to become a nun, she instead went with the least unbearable of the choices she had available to her. Gerard died a violent death some five years ago when he and his entourage were set upon by brigands. Amelia, being a wealthy single woman, is currently being romantically purused by two gentlemen: Spencer Mason is a wealthy merchant. He sees marrying Amelia as the next way to progress up the social ladder. He's somewhat gauche and lacking in 'proper' courtly manners. Hector Torrence-Burton owns much of the surrounding land, and he seeks to marry Amelia purely as a way to unite the land under his ownership. In his late 30s, he's everything a noble should be - vigorous, arrogant, and contemptuous of almost everyone else. Edited by Aurelius, Jul 25 2009, 07:09 PM.
