Fairlight House was built by the Sedelscombe family soon after they were granted the lands following the Norman Conquest. Situated within a mile of the coast, the house commands relatively meagre farmlands. Perhaps more importantly, the estate receives income based on trading licenses granted by the crown. The ten generations that have lived in the house have by and large reinvested what proceeds they received from costal trade, meaning that the estate continues to be wealthy.

Situated on the banks of the river ore, the house itself is the product of several centuries of growth rather than of any set design. Its origins as a fortification are clear - the imposing stone bulk of the walls has been softened by ivy but not lost. The walls are now more decorative rather than defensive. A gate leads through them into an elegant courtyard, with stables off to one side. The keep itself has been turned into a grand hall as chambers for guests. There's a chapel, a study, a library, and a nursery. Of the old fortifications, two towers remain, both on the eastward side of the building. On the westward side, stone from the towers were used to extend the servant's quarters.

The home of Lady Amelia Sedelscombe, it serves as a base for approximately 20 staff and has enough space for up to 10 guests and their entourages.

-Edward of Norwich, the Chamberlain (head advisor), does his best to run the estate despite Amelia's interference. In his 50s, his grey hair speaks for his wisdom.
-Angus Peter is the captain of the guards, a wild-looking Scotsman in his early 30s, who has some mysterious tie to Horatio - neither speak about what this is.
-Dale Grant is the Constable of the estate - essentially in charge of maintaining not only the mounts, but also security. He is assisted by Young Tom, the groom. In his late 30s, he's no longer as vigorous and active as he once was, and is more often than not somewhat drunk.
-Honour Harrington is Amelia's lady-in-waiting. Born of a high-status family, she is undergoing what you might consider an apprenticeship in How To Be A Lady. In her late teens, she exhibits all the bitchiness of a beautiful young woman from a high-status family.
-James Crawford is the estate's reeve. He deals with matters of law, commerce, and heraldry. In his late 50s he always seems to be in a hurry and always has more work to do.
-Brother Giles is a quiet Benedictine monk who acts as chaplain. Bald and clean-shaven, it's hard to estimate his age, but he looks as if he's in his 40s or 50s.
-John Smith serves as the head cook. Always deferential to those above him and stern to those beneath him, he is the head servant.
-Milicent Smith is the nurse. Warm, plain-speaking, and friendly, she's very unlike her husband John.
-Old Tom is the gardener.

There are also 10 assorted miscellaneous serving staff that carry, move, serve, clean, and cook as needed, and is protected by 9 guards.
