Ceryndra watched the ceremony with a drawn expression and nothing to say: she was not one accustomed to speaking particularly well, and her nature was that of someone who would occasionally speak before giving due thought to her words. So she stayed silent, an uncomfortable, tight feeling in her chest. Under her cloak, the tiefling had her arms held tight around herself, nails digging into whatever skin was exposed, in an attempt to distract herself from the world. It wasn't working. She gave a sigh as people began to move away, her breath shuddering. Her teeth gritted, she stepped forward to gaze at the crystal rose. "I did not have many dealings with Marcellus. I did not understand him, but I did respect him. Taking the power of one's enemies to fight them is... something I understand. What he did may have been risky, but he did it for Athesia." She turned her sad eyes upon the crown. "I am proud to have been part of the re-building of this nation. We have come so far in less than a decade, but without Kiya's vision, we would not have reached this point. I am glad to have been given the opportunity - as well as the faith - to have joined the effort. Your Majesty..." She gave a slightly awkward bow, and turned away. The skin on her arms where her nails had dug in shone with a little wet blood, but she paid no heed. Her resolve had been shaken and rapidly re-affirmed: she knew her duty, and now would unwaveringly do her utmost to carry it out. |

Stepping forward to utter a few choice words, Drako looks to the monuments to the fallen. "I ain't much good with words, but I'll give a go. Marcellus? Can't say I knew you that well, but you fought hard for what you believed in, and I'll be damned if that wasn't an honourable departure for you... You bloody wizards, all ponce and magic but more power than I ever saw for the most part. "As for our King, well... A lot's gonna change now you ain't here to stop the lordlings yelling and bawling at each other over policy, I suspect, and I'm sorry I won't be there. You rebuilt Athesia, and entrusted us to keep your dreams and the country going as best we could. And we will. "But it's time I took my leave of you all. Wherever you lot ended up, I'm gonna fight for you, for Athesia, and for the Mountains." With that, Drako turns on his heel, hefts his glaive over his shoulder, and walks away. It seems hurried, if only to steel his resolve as he sets off towards his home, his tribe in the God-Curse Mountains. |
