Hmm, another somebody asking me what happened when we escorted the Sorrowsworn into Unity City? Well, as you're another hero of Athesia, I suppose it seems only fair to fill you in on the details, though I must warn you, it isn't going to be a happy tale with music and dancing as I'd rather tell.

To begin with, they didn't come alone. When we came to meet them on the edge of the Fey woods, the ambassadors had brought along a huge column of Shadowfel soldiers, clearly not relying only on our protection. To take the situation from merely complicated to headache-inducing, the column was being attacked by some kind of raiders from the forest. After brief discussion, our guarding party decided the only honourable course of action was to fight the raiders off. I made it my personal goal to prevent any of my fellow heroes from dying (which was a surprisingly difficult task once a giant owlbear among the raiders made its presence known).

After a brief argument with the guards about bringing an enemy army into the city, we made it in one piece to the barracks where they were kept for the night, and tried to make them at home as best we could. Some of our number played a game with the troops using dice-rolls, numbers and imagination, and the halfling in the party took to gambling, in which I gather he was incredibly successful.

Meanwhile, the Shadowfel representatives went to speak with the council. It seems diplomacy failed, not to anyone's surprise, and when we woke up the next day, the representatives were missing. Their army were quick to accuse us; we were quick to suspect an innocent member of the party who had seemingly disappeared overnight himself (oh Marcellus). As it happens however, they'd sneaked off to one of the city's many abandoned warehouses and were conducting a ritual. Investigation took us to the site of the ritual, and though beset upon by Shadar-kai and their minions, we escaped with an orb of some kind. It soon became apparent that this ritual, as was probably occurring all over the realm, was the true reason for the Sorrowsworn coming here... and would create a two-way portal to another world.

These rituals are probably dragging Athesia closer to some kind of shadow-plane; I've never heard of such a thing before (it's time to hit the books!), but I am certainly getting a headache thinking about it, and the consensus I am getting is that this is a very, very bad thing.

Having one of our sorcerors teleport directly into a summoning circle with one of the Sorrowsworn and his minions with no way for us to aid him was rather an idiotic move - was it not, Merric Thunderlute?

I have no idea what possessed Gill'gem to summon a horse inside a warehouse...

and that reminds me - those abandoned warehouses serve no useful purpose other than secret spy or cult meetings, and I shall have to request that they be converted to some more... helpful role.
