Irrelevance abounds, The simple fact is: This elder council is being formed primarily to gauge the worth and guilt of two members of the current council. If you are being judged you are an unsuitable candidate, each council member has equal power on the council regardless of role or legend. This elder council is to be of seven members as that is the perfect number for votes as every result will end in a majority consensus, coincidentally this number is equal to each of the origins and we as a group can make sure that each legend and organisation is also represented by additional planning. This makes all other argument of this station invalid and pointless. |

Totally agree with Dargan. Doing it by organisation is really quite abusable given that I could leave the Blades of Courage, find another hero and set up my own organisation, just to get a another seat on the council. |

Indeed and the organisations do not cover enough of athesia to be considered in this situation. The legends and Origins are the on static enough things to be considered. |

Perhaps, I may make a suggestion. Since this council is to be one set up to judge our fellow council members crimes, this council should be set up on a case by case basis to make sure there is no bias. I know that I cannot sit in judgement of he who you all believe to be Marcellus, just as I know that those from the Mountains would be unable to sit in judgement over Father Francis. Seven neutral members should be chosen from the council as a whole. |

I personally believe each person should be judged by his own. Yes Father Francis and Marcellus might have done something that we all find to be wrong but I believe he should be judged by his own people. If the current heroes of the Dark Plains find that Francis has done something wrong by threatening a Baron and his daughter than it should be their decision on what their punishment is. If a God Curse Hero walking into the council chamber and punched someone, this would be a lot less severe where he is from and therefore it would be hard for us to judge. If his own people think he has done nothing wrong then the problem is the mixture of customs, not that he is evil. |

I have to disagree, each member should indeed be judged by all origins, the reason being that this makes any judgements far less biased. If Marcellus has greatly wronged the Deva, then they should get a vote saying that he has done wrong and should be punished, it is only one vote in seven. To say he is judged by Fey Woods members alone may mean certain discressions that offend the majority of the council are ignored as unimportant to the few Fey Woods Characters. And who would sit in judgement of Kel'Shaz? Conversely, If Krunk punches someone, it would be up to the God Cursed representative to remind the council that it should not be a major offence, though he might be told not to do it again. Indeed but these are not the only crimes presented before us. and that is the point of a varied and diverse judiciary chamber, with all points of view things can be taken into consideration case by case which is the point of a small group of people dedicated to this judgement process. I can't help but feel that should we fail to set up this as well as some kind of laws then these series of events will go by without judgement and unpunished and our example must be the one that drives the rest of the world, if we allows crimes to run rampant in our own rules and decision makers then we are truly doomed to fail. Perhaps then another suggestion, a detailing of a full list of crimes and then we will decide if a judiciary position is required. To my count the charges are arranged thus: Marcellus; 2 counts of premeditated murder, 1 count of perversion of life. Malach; 1 count of assault and grievous bodily harm. Francis; 1 count of attempted premeditated murder, 1 count of attempted perversion of life, 2 counts suspicion to commit murder, 5 counts of assault with a deadly weapon,2 counts of assault with intent to pervert life, 2 counts of abuse of power, 2 counts of attempted abuse of power, innumerable counts of attempts to pervert the course of justice, 1 count of suspicion to commit regicide, 1 count of suspicion to overthrow athesia and (as I'm to understand) perverting the name of pelor. Flint; 1 count of assault with intent to pervert life. Edited by Dargan Drosilan, 13 Mar 2012, 18:09.

I have to agree with Markus, origin-based councils will be biased towards those of their own, whereas a balance between organisation and origin will ensure less of this bias. [ooc]We should be getting some dragonborn by next main game. My housemate Abby is rolling up names for hers right now.[/ooc] |

I would request that until this debate is ended, we do not recount the names of those accused of crimes. They still stand innocent, until proven otherwise, and I would not have their honour sullied. |
