As we all know, recently the dwarves have been "sold out" to the Duergar, accidently, by one of us. Now it's not enough just to throw blame around, we need to think of a positive solution on how to protect the Dwarves from this threat.

Well I know of a nearby Dwarf fortress that I have spent 2 years turning into a safe haven in the mountain so that is one plan however there could be other options

We need to do the best for the Dwarves

Aye. After hearing about this issue I couldn't say I was impressed, but as you said, we must be civil.

A lot of lives will be disrupted by such action, as I know of many who won't be happy to leave their homes. Alas it may be our only option. But for the life of me, I cannae think of any other option, bar full out war with the Duergar, intercepting their potential assault.

Though I have seen Aton Thorvald(ty for the spelling :P lol) for myself, i still do not agree that moving all of us closer to the Duergar would be beneficial... we've seen the tools, the machines that the Duergar have access to; Take Dargans prison as an example, was it not the Duergar that penetrated it? It worrys me that the same could happen to the city. until the Deurgar threat is at least decreased, I myself do not count it as a safe haven... Unfortunately... I do not have a viable alternative at this point.

I will be going back to my home soon, at least for a while, to warn them, perhaps even prepare them. I suggest Harngir and Frekki do the same, and we try to get the word out as far as we can. Maybe they themselves will have ideas on 'saving' themselves; we're a very resourceful bunch afterall.

On the same vein of discussion, after reaffirming that the Deurgar really -are- turning their dwarf slaves into their own kind(I'm 99% sure due to a combination of our exploration into the undermountain, some of the conversations we overheard during the shadowfel meeting, and previous meetings with the Deurgar where dwarves went in,and Deurgar came out) I wonder if really we should be killing them, though I know if they begin raids it will be inevitable. There could be many of them that were previously our friends, family, maybe even future candidates for Athesia's council itself.

If only we had more time... Perhaps to find a cure. But evidently, we have more pressing matters at hand.

I had an idea which I think I spoke to some others of, if we have the time to do it. Shadowstrike has been given knowledge from the Church of Pelor to magically veil entire settlements as they hide some of their monasteries, and he has done so with one of the places we wish to protect. If it is viable we may be able to use this to hide the dwarves from the Duergar and thus protect the dwarves from their threat. The effect is not duplicable, however, so we would need to decide what was more important to hide from our enemies.

The issue is that it will be a whole year before he can do this again. By that time the Duergar can easily start any plans against the Dwarves

That was the problem I thought of, if we'd had the time that would have been a decent plan but I thought it might not be.

To be fair if the duregar are looking for them in the dark plains the if we move them anywhere else they should be fine, Aton Thorvald is a decent nearby fortress manned by my own forces, Should the duregar attempt to enslave I have been told they are not expecting much resistance, in fact they are expecting aid in doing so as Konrad was attempting to draw the duregar into a trap. If they find an empty field it will simply be that they were tricked, If not then we will be ready for them. Know that though you dwarves are far shorter than goliaths I will make it a personal goal to protect and aid in their migration to the mountains Which is something I remember Frekki planning on implementing soon anyway.

I will hold The under keep, let the duregar come if they will.
