Replies from Shyraide... What actions and requirements would you have of Athesia in this alliance, both before and after the defeat of the other Elemental Generals? "In the immediate future, the defeat of the other Generals would be the main priority; to that end, you would be required to remain at war with them until such time as they are defeated. Once they are defeated and the archon people freed we would require free passage amongst the Athesian lands, as well as our people being free to live amongst yours should they wish to. We would also be required to treat each other's people as they were our own whilst in our lands, obeying similar laws and the like. Finally, the alliance would require that our enemies become your enemies, much as your enemies will become ours." How large are the forces of the other generals, and how are they expected to attack us? "Our forces are sizable, though much of it is not currently in a position to attack due to mobilisation issues; however, they have been increasingly mobile and it would take long for them to be in such a position should a full attack be declared. Any assault would likely be multipronged, with forces coming through portals known to you as well as across the surface of the Broken Lands from other portals not yet known to you. In addition, should the generals turn their full attention to you it is likely their influence would be exerted, bringing increasing changes to your plane as the elements manifest more strongly." Would you object to continued expansion into the Broken Lands and/or the Elemental Fields? "I intend for our people to live alongside and amongst each other, so I would have no issues to such expansion; in fact, I would encourage it as a way to bring us closer to each other." What would you offer Athesia in return for the alliance? "Firstly, I offer information; I am aware of force movements and so can forewarn you, as well as revealing weaknesses in our forces that can be exploited. Secondly, after the defeat of the other Generals our people will be able to work together with yours, sharing knowledge and skills; it is highly likely at least some of our troops will wish to remain as soldiers as well, in which case they will also fight alongside you in future battles. Lastly, free passage across our lands would be granted, and your people would be free to live among ours should they wish to do so." Do you know of any defensive measures that have been effective against your or the other general's forces (e.g. a specific mad elf has found a way to ward them off or the Anihallutus have been deploying countermeasures)? "I cannot yet answer this question, though I will once we are allied; until then, I cannot risk my people like this." |

(OOC: Since I can't figure out main plot until this is decided, I'm going to stick an actual deadline on this of the end of Sunday 29th (midnight i.e. 12am on the 30th); it'll be a majority vote, so please try and make it clear in your posts whether you agree or disagree with the alliance.) |

I vote for the alliance. In the end, whatever reservations we may have, or no matter how cautious we wish to be, I believe allying will be less dangerous for us than turning them down. Granted its risky but also potentially far more rewarding. |

*PUTS ON HIS DIPLOMACISING HAT KNOWING THIS WAS SOMETHING HE WAS BORN TO DO* I agree with a diplomacy however as mentioned before a formal treaty needs to be agreed and written. I suggest a meeting with myself and some other representitives so we can discuss a treaty that would aid both sides. Without a formal treaty we are putting ourselves at risk. If we do this right we can gain an ally. If we do this wrong we gain an additional enemy. Lets work together for this |

No use throwing out potential allies, to be fair if we can neutralise half of the enemies fighting force with one diplomatic endeavor it would be quite the boon |

((OOC: I know it might be intrusive but considering quite a few players barely read the forums, maybe an email notification or something to let them know important shit is going down)) |

I vote for an alliance. If this is some kind of foul trick i believe we still have the means to hold our ground if things go wrong. If it is indeed a true offer of allegiance, then we will gain an ally most powerful. Either way, I believe whatever risks we may be taking are far outweighed by the potential rewards of this alliance. |

I vote for alliance While an alliance may be a risk it would be more of a risk not to make an alliance. With an alliance we give ourselves more troops and reduce the enemies to fight in one move without anyone shedding blood. I know from my own mistakes what can happen from not forming alliances when possible |

I vote for alliance, however it must be kept a strict secret. I'm not entirely sure the people of the Broken Lands would want to tolerate living alongside these elemental creatures who they have been at war for years, but then I am not a denizen of these lands and I can't truly speak for them. Furthermore any public revelation of the alliance would compromise Shyraides position amongst the Archon generals immensly. For this reason the contents of any deal should be kept informal and not leave the council chambers, or the alliance could fail before it has even begun. |

(OOC: Okay, so it seems like this is an overwhelming yes to the alliance, albeit whether the terms are on paper or just verbal seems to be slightly more in conflict. If you want to discuss that further, it's fine since I know the alliance is on now and so can write with that in mind.) |
