Morning and nightly practice:
1) Visualize a column of pure light coming down from the heavens purifying and protecting you.
“Oh Almighty Aten!

Thank you for gifting us Light and Life

We hold you in our heart in reverence

May we always remember we are of the One

May our heart and mind be joined with yours

May we be protected from all harms through your greatness and kindness

And so it is!”

2) now Visualize Akhenaten in your heart radiating pure light throughout your body merging with the light from #1 or the Aten.

Pray silently 100 to 500 x
"Akhenaten have mercy on me."

3) same visualization as #1
Perform #1 also at noon and sunset

This is based upon Hesychia mysticism and basic Hermetic philosophy, modified over to an Atenist format. Hopefully this will be of help to others as it has been for me.

4) keep a daily diary of all experiences from this procedures.
you can.

5) also you can give an offering to the Aten in-between #1&2, traditionally this is done by performing #1, then placing the offering upon your alter and performing a self composed or free-form prayer over the offering, then perform #2 . Dispose of the offering in a way you feel appropriate, if it is food traditionally it is removed from the alter and eaten before the alter......

May your Sun never set!

It is the most basic ritual that I can find for Egyptian ceremony and I noticed I left out a closing for the ceremony.

6) let the vision of Akhenaten disolve into your heart
Sit in diligence listening to impressions of both internal and external sources.

7) grounding
Say a homade prayer either freeform or self-composed all long the lines of," In the names of Akhenaten and Neffertiri!" ( use the visual from #1) "Hail the Aten!"

1a)For group rituals everyone participating should perform the opening Visualization of #1 while the Priest(ess) performs the opening prayer.
2a) have an assistant or the Priest(ess) read or recite either the Short or Long Hymn to Aten or an original inspired Hymn.
3a)statement of intent or prayer for the working over the offering or item to either be blessed or sacrificed.
4b) now give a sermon on a point in the Hymns for group contenplation and illumination, then
now a group perform freeform prayer and or a group recitetation of the prayer of # 2 but this time see Akhenaten or Neffertiri encompassing the whole congregation.
5a) If a food offering was made it should be distributed and eaten by the whole congregation( or given to eat by the sick and needy after the closing of the ritual, the same goes for money offerings excpt what is needed for ritual supplies). ( this is an an excellent way to make holy water or oil for consecration and blessing)!
6a) Close the ritual as in#6&7
7a) hold a period of fellowship and open discussion or even a lecture.
8) the Priest(ess) then formally closes the services by a final freeform inspired blessing on the entire congregation.

A group worship would be a nice thing, but I think the last time that happened was probably in Akhetaten itself, sadly. These days there just aren't enough Atenist people out there to make group services feasible in any way. :(

Hey a sacrelized pot luck? As far as groups if we want the faith to grow we need to make headway on campuses, maybe flyer campaigns but none of that door to door bullshit. Also maybe a book on modern Atenism, theory and practice. Aim for grass root movements.

If I recall, somewhere in the archives here there's a discussion about how somebody (or a couple of somebodies) attempted years ago to get some sort of Atenist book together, but it fell through. The thing about Atenism today is that because there are so few Atenists (I know of probably less than a dozen Atenists that I've ever come across), there's no cohesive theology set down for everyone. (With the possible exception of the Temple of Aten, which has 8 members. I should clarify that they have 8 members on their forum. Not sure how many actual Temple members. Could be less.) Every Atenist seems to have their own ideas and practices. At least, that's how it is on this forum. The Akhetaten Fellowship and the Temple of Aten are currently the only 2 semi-active Atenist boards that I am aware of. The rest are now defunct. (I know,I've been on most of them at one time or another over the years.)

There have been a few Atenist groups in the past that have made a few attempts at outreach efforts to get word about the Atenism out there - they all fizzled out. Every group that has tried to start a grassroots movement has died out. Atenism isn't a well-known thing, unless you're an academic scholar specializing in Egyptian studies.

Still we should at least swing the bat, nothing can happen until you swing! Marketing a no nonsense form of monotheism/Henotheism/Pantheism/Panetheism can give us many ways to approach the growth of our religion. Maybe I am just dreaming......but it is a cool dream.

The no-nonsense market is out there - I think the Temple of Aten has laid out a pretty detailed description. However, keep in mind that the Temple bills itself as Orthodox Atenist,so they are more strict in their theological approach. You might even say Fundamentalist to a degree. But it's their group, their rules, and that's okay :)

I have had various email conversations with several other Atenists over the years - everyone seemed to agree that it would be a pretty tall order. Hell, the Atenists I know don't even post HERE anymore. Even the Temple of Aten stopped its outreach efforts in 2008 and only recently started up their website within the last 8 months or so. The world is over-saturated with organized (and un-organized!) religion, and many people are leaving religion altogether. Science in the 21st century can do that to a person. It's a difficult thing to get people interested in ANY religion these days. (Just ask the missionaries in my neighborhood. Poor kids - I always feel bad for them. :'( )

Most of the Atenists (ToA excepted) that I've come across seem to just do their own thing in regards to Atenism. There's no cohesive focus. None live anywhere near another Atenist, and several are in different countries altogether. Not to mention that Amarna today is an archaeological dig site,so it's not like there's a focal point like Mecca,Vatican City,Jerusalem or any sacred sites/temples like Hindus, Buddhists or other any other religions have. Well, I suppose you could see the ruins of Amarna as a holy city of sorts. But it's not really the same thing,I don't think.
