I was wondering if anyone had any good internet or book references on biological information for Akhenaten? I'm mostly looking for info on his personality and his rulership...how he was and lived aside from just his religious interests. Scholarly rather than mythological information preferably. Any good sources?
"Thou appearest beautifully on the horizon of heaven,
Thou living Aton, the beginning of life!
When thou art risen on the eastern horizon,
Thou hast filled every land with thy beauty.
Thou art gracious, great, glistening, and high over every land..."

Unfortunately, there really isn't much known in a biological sense about Akhenaten's personality. We know of course who is family was,but as to how he was raised and lived,we just don't know. There's no solid facts on what he was like as a person (aside from the little we know about his time as pharaoh.) Most of what's out there regarding what he may have been like as a person is just speculation and guesswork. You could always try reading the Amarna Letters, and works by Barry Kemp are informative as well. (Try to avoid EA Wallis Budge, since he's about a hundred or so years outdated by now. Academic theories have changed since his time.)
