Atenism - is it more widespread than we'd imagined

You will never believe this! Last winter our elderly neighbour sadly passed away, and her sons have been doing up the house to sell it. This afternoon I was in the garden when one of them passed the time of day with me, then suddenly said "Have you been to Egypt? I see you wear an Ankh" I started chatting about my trip: he asked which places I had visited: I told him Cairo, Assuan and Luxor, then I said the one place I would love to visit is Amarna. He said "Akhenaten! I worship that man!" We had an excited discussion about our shared faith, until he had to attend to his work.
I wouldn't have believed that there were two Atenists in the whole of the county, let alone next door to each other!
Perhaps we should all display the Ankh, and see if we get a similar recognition from fellow believers.

While I have yet to run across anyone in the real world who admitted to be an Atenist, they are all over the internet. People are searching for a better spiritual path than the ones they have so far known. Atenism gives that better path, we only have to show then how to take the first step.

I do agree with wearing an Ankh, or sun disc if you prefer. I like to wear something like that as a reminder to myself, but it works to let others know a little about my spirituality as well.

I wear my Ankh everyday, and almost get asked about it from someone everyday. It's a great way to get an conversation started about our faith.!!! People are hungry for a new way to understand God.

I have been wearing an Ankh for many years, so did my cat until he sadly passed over in 2009. In all these years, only ONCE did someone comment on it, and that only because the person wanted to know if I am Egyptian! I also wear the Wedjat eye - noone has ever commented on that, LOL.

It's very rare that someone asks me what religion I am - most people assume that I must be Muslim, and then they are surprised when they find out that this is not the case.

I have met a few folks who know about Atenism, but never anyone who shares my belief in the Aten - where are you guys hiding, LOL?

I'd like to know this too - I'm sure there are at least a few more Atenists out there (there's quite a few here on this forum supposedly,so you know they're around at least,LOL!) Unfortunately,it's the same scenario now as it was in the 18th dynasty - it's just not a very large group of people who are interested in practicing this particular faith.
