Em hotep, I Meryre, the original founder of Akhetaten Fellowship, as I have stated in another posting, was the first person that I know of that has attempted to seriously revive the religion of Atenism as a worldwide faith. At the beginning of this millennium, January 1, 2001 I began my crusade in reviving the Atenist faith online. It all started with a simple message board and it attracted a few people who were interested. I also created a simple website outlining the basic history and beliefs of Akhenaten and Atenism. I was excited because there was some serious interest and we had a lot of interesting and sometimes heated discussions about Atenism and it's revival. Many questions were asked. One important question that always arose and which caused much contention was; what form would the present day religion of Atenism take? I realized that Akhenaten was God on Earth; the actual physical expression of God on Earth. The ancient followers of Atenism worshipped Akhenaten directly, because he was God. Just as Christians believe Jesus was God. I realized that he as God came from the sky as it were, using the Sun-Disk as his symbol, to plant the seed of truth in this Earth of ours. After Akhenaten departed from this world, whether by plague or intrigue (I am certain it was by choice); he was assured that his mission was complete and that whatever happened after he was gone would remain as a blueprint for some future generation to appreciate. We are that generation! We have the blueprint which Akhenaten's enemies failed to destroy! We know more about the historical Akhenaten than we know about the historical Jesus, because we have physical proof of Akhenaten's existence including his actual words. Not like Jesus where there is not a shred of proof that he ever existed. The Gospels are not historical, but fictional fairy tales of a miracle worker that may never have existed. We know what Akhenaten and his family looked like, but have no clue what Jesus really looked like. Not only that but we may have the physical remains of Akhenaten, and 90% of the burial treasure found in Tutankhaten's tomb appears to be Akhenaten's! Even Tut's famous golden mask seems to be Akhenaten's, with the face replaced. I can just imagine Akhenaten's face on that famous golden mask! Yes, we have the blueprint, whether at Amarna, or the Valley of the Kings, or Luxor. We have it all. It's time to put all the pieces back together and reconstruct what was dismantled! I Meryre, will continue with my crusade as long as it takes. I will keep the pilot light on, and as long as I exist Atenism will survive in some form. When I first began this crusade of mine at the beginning of the millenium, hardly a soul knew what Atenism was or even heard of the word. Now, do a search on www.google.com and you will find over 15,000 references to the word 'Atenism'. I believe I had a lot to do with it. And those references will continue to grow over time and I pray that it will reach a break point where there will be no turning back and Atenism will finally be taken seriously as a living faith. I made the mistake of giving up a few years back, but I now realize by keeping the pilot light on and keep pressing forward, it will only be a matter of time for Atenism to come into it's own. Nicholas Reeves thinks Akhenaten was Egypt's false prophet, an egomaniac and megalomaniac, but that is far from the truth. Akhenaten was already the most powerful man in the world when he became Pharaoh. So why bother instituting such a radical religious reform? No one, not even the priest's of Amun could equal the power of the Pharaoh. That is a fact. Akhenaten in fact proved it by opposing the status quo. Maybe one day Nicholas Reeves will become an Atenist, who knows? In the mean time, I am biding my time with the knowledge that Atenism's time is coming and there is no one on this Earth to stop it. While we may disagree on tidbits here and there, I for one am glad you kept that pilot light on. I haven't said it, but thank you for keeping the website and forum up and running. As for loosing faith for that little while, I can understand. I have been there and know that feeling all too well. It is easy to stumble and fall, but Aten is always there to help us up. Thankfully, He is there for each and every one of us and one day His light will be seen by the world. Never forget, not only do you have Aten with you along the path but I am here as well. I had my faith renewed a little while ago, and His presence has really helped me as I'm sure it has helped you as well. Edited by Astennu, Feb 16 2009, 01:31 PM.

You have had a hard task, but you have kept on and stuck to it. And now at least in the world we know there is still some evidence of Ankenaton's religion and memory, alive with in our hearts and in the hearts of the members here and others that have yet to find their way here. Thank You |
| The concept of "self" as a singular and coherent entity is a fictional construct, and an individual rather comprises conflicting tensions and knowledge claims (e.g. gender, class, profession, etc). The interpretation of meaning of a text is therefore dependent on a reader's own personal concept of self. | |

I always want to be able to say "Aten loves us all unconditionally." The future of Atenism will be simple: eventually we will have Priests, Teachers, Viziers, Justices, and especially a living Pharaoh. Hopefully we induce the law of love, because I want Atenism to remain pure, loving, and truthful. I don't want Atenism to become like the other faiths in the world, so hopefully we induce the law of love powerfully enough for the law of love to survive for eternity. Traditional Atenism only lasted about 20 years, but maybe this is because people weren't ready for the truth. They weren't ready for true worship of the divinity of the actual truth. In the modern era, people will be more receptive to the message of the actual truth with a spirit and flare of unconditional love. Under the Aten none are forgotten. Coming from above is absolute love. I love the people because Aten dwells in my heart. It is written in Pharaoh Akhenaten's Great Hymn that 'God conquers all with his love.' In a loose translation I like telling people "Love conquers all." Aten is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. The theology which stems from such will produce true righteousness. I believe the law of love will make Atenism very fruitful and fulfilling. That's the future of Atenism that I'm hoping for. |
