The Northwestern pulled in tight against the docking hatch on one of the outer most asteroids in the Rubble. It was a private docking facility for the Security Council members and their families. Mack flipped the switch causing his docking skirt to lock against the asteroids airlock and seal. A few seconds later the light showing the status of the pressure of the seal turned green signifying that he had a hard seal and the pressure had equalized.

Mack unbuckled his flight harness and stood up from the pilots seat. He stretched his legs and pulled the footlocker out from under the cot behind the pilots chair. Opening up the locker he withdrew his pistol and gun belt which he strapped around his waist on his way down to the engine room.

On a quick round of the engine room he checked all the turbine blades to make sure they weren't bent or warped, then he did a quick check of all the fuel and oil lines. There was a collection of oil in the engine room bilge which meant there was a leak but no matter what he did, what lines he checked he couldn't find where it was leaking from. He figured it was in one of the high pressure lines that would only leak when the throttle was up. He put that on his mental to do list and then walked down the corridor to the hatch.

He climbed up the ladder, through the hatch and into the airlock. After a quick pressurization the airlock opened and he walked into the private docking bay. He was the only one there, which was common since the security council didn't leave the the Rubble all that often. He closed the hatch and locked it.

He was home again and it was time to have some fun.

Andrei had just snuck a ride to the Rubble on a junkard ship that would be passing through. Sure he had a bounty on his head for armed robbery but out here there were no cops. He figured he could lay low for a few days until the heat died down. Andrei made his way through the Port of the Rubble and was going to head to the Residence he would see if there was a place he could rent out for the time being, atleast until he could fence the jewels he had gotten from the store.

Mack quietly opened the door to the Security Council chambers and slid into the room. The council was sitting around their round table in the dimly lit room.

"All in favor of increasing security presence in brown sector?" One of them said.

"Aye!" was the unanimous response.

The council scribe took the decision down in his book. The chairman stood up, "With that, this meeting is adjourned, next meeting in 3 day's time. See you all then."

The council members all stood up and slowly made their way out of the room via it's several exits. All but one. A gray haired overweight man stayed behind and looked at Mack. Mack walked over to him and gave him a hug. "hey pop, how are you doing." Mack said.

"Fine, just fine. How are you?" His father asked.

"Not bad. i just got home." Mack responded. "i was hoping i might bother you for a job."

Macks father smiled. "Well, its good to know you'll be back for a while. And yeah, i think we have a job for you."

Mack sat down in one of the now empty seats and his father sat in the chair next to him. "According to the tube, there's a nasty headed our way. Armed robbery, the lady on the news said he might be coming to the Rubble and i'm guessing she's right. we're the perfect place to lay low with hardly any law."

"Any leads?" Mack asked.

"Not really. Nothing the news lady hasn't said already, but i'll keep an ear out for you. But enough of that, how's flying around in that crap tug of yours?" Mack's dad said smiling.

Andrei made his way to the resident section of the rubble and started to look around. There wasn't much of a place to rent for sure, so he decided he would just take a place. Andrei made his way to one of the complexes and went in. The places here were garbage and was definetly low rate he doubt anyone would look for him here. A lady was coming out of her place Andrei went over to her and pulled out a gun "Open the door" he said to her she was obviously scared. She did as Andrei said and he ushered her in. Once in side he tied the lady up and locked her in a closet. "This should do for a hold out for now" Andrei said to himself and turned on the TV, on the news they were talking about a bounty on his head.

Mack walked down the transparent tube to the Port. Without any leads, he figured the Port would be the best place to start. If someone were coming through the Rubble, most likely they'd arrive at the Port rather then one of the smaller private asteroids.

Mack walked through the neon lit airlock arch from the tube to the Port. He left his hand rest on the handle of his pistol, this was exactly the kind of place where a junkie would try and take the gun right off his belt.

He started with the captains. all the ships that came through here were captained by someone, and usually the Captains knew everything about their ships and the people on them. Mack passed around a picture of the man he was looking for, a printout from his ships computer. No luck with that so he went to the merchants next, figuring the guy would want to get rid of some of that money he stole, launder it maybe, try and make a deal with someone.

still no luck with the merchants so Mack went to the mercenary guard posted at the transport tubes out of the Port and had them look at the photo, maybe they had seen the guy leave the Port.

Andrei was on his phone "I have the stuff, it has to be worth atleast 100 grand...can you get it flipped for me" he asked the lady he tied up was making muffled noises from the closet as if trying to escape. Andrei smikred "Fine, I can get to Titan in two days set up a deal to get the money for this stuff...afterwards I'll need a ship to go to Earth" he smirked as he hung up. He pulled out a pack of cigarrettes and lit one. He took a long drag and let out the puff of smoke. "Then I can just find some beach to kick back on and relax..." he said sitting down in a chair and turning back on the TV.

"Not sure but he looks familiar." A mercenary guard said. "Like i said, i get a few hundred people passing through here every day."

Mack withdrew the photo and put it back in his pocket. "But you might have saw this guy leave the Port and head for the Residence?"

"Yeah, i dunno, maybe a few hours ago." The guard said.

Mack patted him on the shoulder and slipped him a few bills. "thanks pal."

Mack took the transport tube to the Residence, walking briskly. He was only a few hours behind his quarry now. if he'd gone to ground in the residence it would be a pain to find him amongst all those people, but at least he couldn't get a ship out unless he got past Mack to get back to the Port.

Andrei started to leave out the place he had found his ride and decided it was time to try and blow that joint. "Thanks for your hospitality miss" he said to the lady she was still tied up but not in the closet anymore. Andrei decided he would have to be descret to make his way to the Port so he had shaved his head and beard not to mention stole a change of clothes from what he assumed was the ladies husband boyfriend or brother didn't really matter to be sure. Andrei started to make his way to the port walking down the street trying not to draw too much attention to himself.

Mack slid into a table at one of the open market restaurants in the Residence to rest his feet. He'd been up since 6 in the morning walking the Rubble. He had a lead but out of the thousands of people in the Residence, it'd be a pain in the ass to find this guy. No body he's talked to had seen him, which either meant the guy wasn't in the residence or had slipped past him somewhere. Mack would hate to call his pop and have him lock down the Port to find this guy but he might have to if he wanted to catch the guy.

Mack ordered a glass of water and put his feet up on a chair. He leaned back and relaxed a little. So far he'd only been worrying about the first half of his job. Getting the guy and holding him. The second part of it was finding a cowboy willing to deal with him. Mack made it a point to never turn in the bounties himself. Part of the reason Mack was successful was because he didn't make a name for himself. Bounties look out for bounty hunters, but they never look for Mack. He's strictly investigative, he finds em and holds em then sells em to a Cowboy for a part of the bounty.

That left Mack with a problem. Aside from the fact that he didn't have the guy yet, he didn't know of any cowboys on the Rubble at the time. If push came to shove he could turn the bounty in himself but he'd rather do it his way.

Andrei walked into a small resturant and looked around weren't too many people there but some guy that ordered water apparently and a few other people. He walked over to the counter and sat down "Coffee please" he said as he waited for the waitress to come back. He sat there looking around he kept his bag close to him as he was nervous, though he didn't want to show it for it would draw much much attention to himself. He kept looking around until the waitress returned "Thank you" he said his russian accent thick in his voice he started drinking the coffee. The waitress looked at him "Busy today?" she asked he looked up at her "Just planning a trip..." he smiled.
