Well since the fanart/fic section looked a little empty so here's a thread for people to post their maps. Try not to post a map which is directly ripped from a FE game. I'm guessing most maps will be done in FE style but it doesn't have to be. Maps are either a movement map like the one below, or if you want a map like the map of Ekarode Mercenary of Light made. Anyway here's mine, (don't tell me the mountains look wrong, I know and I worked on them for long enough as it is)  |

Hope you don't mind some reccomendations. The map looks good and simple. The grid covers up most of the mountain error. Do you have the other mountain tiles? (I'll post one of mine not for the main RPG soon.) |

I don't mind being slandered to death, so I can't see why I would say no to recommendations. I actually added the grid after I made the map to hide all my mistakes  Simple is good. Too much stuff makes me feel claustrophobic. I pretty much had to double the amount of tree's because it was so empty. Anyway bottom line is if you've got any tips please offer them;) |

Try to use various types of the same terrain tile, mostly grass. There are grass of different shapes and colors, and you can combine them into different shapes. (Also try to use the same tile set for the entire map). Here's an example from FE6 (Santaruz, chapter4). There are various plain tiles used so it doesn't look like the same green background pattern. Of course, making maps like the games takes practice [I still usually just make mounds of the same shade]).

Seeing as I don't have anything but paint and publisher to make them mine aren't exactly the finest - but they are functional enough |

I know your pain. Paint is very difficult to work with. I don't know Publisher at all though, but from the sound of it it can't align images to a grid. |

Yeah. I just completely epic failed trying to copy and paste maps using paint then GIMP. Does anyone know of an effecient way to make maps because I need one to start my RP. |

Well mine aren't that good either, but considering how I'm not making them for professional reasons, I don't see why they need to be of high quality. I just use Paint and the tile sets provided by MoL at http://mercenarylight.wordpress.com/fire-emblem-sprites/ and if I'm missing anything I want, just go to Serenes, and copy out a section of the map and add it to my tiles list. |
