The Army of Light RPG is a series of tactical role playing games developed to play on the computer by Mercenary of Light with the help of his friends and other members. The gameplay is based on strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, but with new characters and an original story that members of this forum create, develop and will later experience.

The first RPG is still under development and there are some gameplay aspects that might be left out. Below is a list of aspects I'm considering leaving out of the first game because of taking space, my lack of coding skills or me working on them to apply them better. Reply to comment on them being left out of the first RPG or suggest additions for the first RPG.

-The Weapon Triangle (It will probably appear on the game, but not the test)
-Side Chapters (Side/Gaiden chapters will probably not appear in the first game)
-Third Tier Promotion (There propbably won't be much or any promotion on the test, but I'll try to add 2nd tiers to the first games)
-Learnable skills (Occult and skill scrolls will probably not appear until the game where/after 3rd tiers are introduced)
-Special staves (Staves that do things besides healing or inflicting damage might be left out unless I manage to make them work, Berserk will not appear)
-Fog of War (Fog and darkness will not appear on the first games and might not appear at all in the series unless I get it to work correctly and similarly to the GBA Fire Emblems)
-Rescue (It won't appear in the early games)
-Supports (Support Bonuses/Conversations will not appear in the early games)
-The Arena (It won't appear for a long time)
-Battle animations (There won't be any battle animations until a group of coders and spriters help me out, and a majority of members accept the big increase of file space in the game, just imagine the game with animations turned off until that happens)

All of it sounds fair to me, you can not be expected to do everything.

No, but I want to know how much members want those things added, so I know what to focus on first. All of those are in order of probability.

I'd vote for weapon triangle, then 3rd tear, then arena I think. Since the others can come in a bit later, arenas a fairly popular and 3rd tear will add length to the game. But weapon triganal is first becasue it has core aspects to the game.

Ok, but the arena might not work as good as FE (that's why it's last before battle animations). The random part is hard to manipulate, and you might not be able to quit. Side chapters or something similar to the Tower of Vaalni or Ladgou Ruins might be enough to compensate for the lack of arenas (like FE8 did). I might add seizing chapters with reinforcements(or a lot of enemies) that you could end whenever you like.

I noticed a few things from the Gamecube and Wii titles... Think you can somehow get crossbows??
WHY!? Because people are all the same! A man, a woman, a child, an elder, a king, a beggar... they're all the same! None deserve any special treatment, unless proven in battle...!

I have a great idea for a new class type... I WOULD suggst you dont use th daggers/knives and just have thief-type units use swords and they look like daggers in combat...

Anyway, my new class idea is a variant of the assassin, perhaps 3rd tier. The class would be called "assailant." He would use two dagger-looking swords, in many cases use a face mask (ninja mask), probably a hadband frquntly, a large cape, and the ability to also use crossbows. This unit would be known to be the ultimate killer and if you WERE to make this class (plzplzplz) I wouldn't want it to appar often, preferably only my custom charactrer (soon to be sumitted) would be this class, but if you wanted to make a few other bosses or characters this class, its fine.

Firstly Valter, try not to double post, we have an edit button for a reason. Secondly if you want to have a unique class send a personal message to the admin of the board, Mercenery of Light, and he will decide whether it is a workable idea. An "Ultimate Killer" class would be a trifle unbalanced for a game, but I belive there is already a knife/sword and bow wielding class already.

I undrstand Bromf... However I said "known as" or "feared as" an ultimate killer (as in like murderer) Just an eerie edge... and so what if there already is a class that uses those things? Generals and great knights both can use swords axes and lances but both of those classes still made it...

It's ok, Bromf. He's new around here, but he has to avoid double posting again. This is the right subforum to post that.

There already exists an unmounted alternative third tier sword/bow user known as Gallowglass. Anyone who wants one of their characters to become one must pm me (it can promote from any non-magic class). I'll probably add bows to Assailants, but I have to think that out first.

Also, I'll get crossbows in the game but maybe not exactly like the ones on RD (where they have a fixed Might).

Generals and Great Knights still have movility, armour weaknesses and other disadvantages.
