The continent of Ekarode was always engulfed in constant conflicts. The first settlers had established themselves in the East coast of the un-habited continent in a place named Initianea. Just months after settling and establishing a governing council, the people began to fight over control of the lands. Over time, the conflicts between the inhabitants turned to fights for things like the food they ate on certain dates or the clothing they should wear. The battles gave no results, so they decided to separate into five tribes, leaded by the former members of the Initianean council, and settled on the lands they would take. Each tribe formed a nation, four in each coast and one in the center, ruled by and named after the council’s leader, Lantel. Now that they were divided, the nations fought over expanding their borders, never satisfied with how much they had. During the Middle Ages, the continent’s dark secrets began to arise as evil creatures invaded it out of nowhere and threatened to put everyone’s lives in peril. The five nations had to cease their wars and unite their armies into one Army of Light to defeat an Evil Force that none could face alone. The Army of Light had fought hard to purge the continent off all monsters, and just when they had almost got rid of them all, internal conflicts arose. The four coastal nations retreated most of their soldiers from the Army of Light thinking that its purpose had changed and they were just helping to keep the kingdom of Lantel at the control of most of the continent. With the Army of Light greatly reduced, the nations returning to attack Lantel from all sides and monsters continuing to terrorize, King Hathor II of Lantel, under the pressure of his advisors and the Lantelians, was forced to reform the Army of Lantel to defend it. To lead the now even smaller Army of Light, the king assigned Dan, the "Mercenary of Light," as Marshall, in hopes that his guild would join. The internal wars have left the Army of Light with the now harder task of bringing peace back to a land that had long forgotten what peace really was. ![]() The five nations of Ekarode: Lantel: The central nation of the continent. It was founded by the leader of the Initianean council of the same name. He was a brave and powerful ruler, and many people followed him for his great leadership. But he was also ethnocentric and egotistic. He built the greatest army in the continent to expand and defend the borders of his nation, which needed a great army since it got attacks from all sides by all nations. The nation has the biggest division of flying soldiers in Ekarode. The nation of Lantel is very mountainous with rich valleys and various rivers. King Lantel made a wise choice by selecting the center for his tribe, since it’s the most prosperous and fertile. The current king of Lantel is Hathor II, who succeeded his father after his sudden death from illness. Hathor II is a figure of authority and principle, but someone that could be pressured to do anything to maintain his position and fame. Its capital is Arddizir . Hara Tougen: The northern nation, founded by Hara, the Silent Berserker. Hara was a strong warrior, and even though she wasn’t really silent, she was the least talkative of the original Council and she settled for a land where her tribe could train in silence apart from the other nations. Hara Tougen is mostly covered in thick ice sheets, with areas of though terrain and vast polar deserts. The current ruler of the nation is Seleen, a woman feared by many for her power, for "no man can defeat the woman of Hara’s blood." She’s the first woman to directly descend from Hara. . Its capital is Gecrodig. Nightwood: The nation of the Eastern coast, where it all began. The people of Nightwood are very religious people that like to keep their traditions intact. They were the people who decided to stay where they were with Grand Archsage Moepai and established the Druidic Conservative Church. Nightwood, like the name suggests is covered in dense forests and most of the people live hidden and apart from the constant wars. The nation has always been ruled by a council, which became dominated by druids in recent years. Council Leader Lugius, Turid, Carmen, Mider and Dlake, are all strict figures who seem to share the same mind when taking decisions. The nation of Nightwood is mostly peaceful and an ally of Lantel, although various regiments of its army have separated from the main army and attack Lantel under the leadership of ex-General Chaut. Its capital is Neangrove, located near Initianea. Aoiwoi: The southern nation, named after the Council member with the weird name. He was a mysterious and greedy warrior who always saw the potential in things that others would find worthless. He was renown for his strange ideas and ambitious plans. He took the desert area that nobody would take, and exploited its resources to make it a powerful nation that every other nation would have to depend on for many things. The Yoene Bay is its most important feature because traveling across it is the fastest way of getting from Nightwood to Citileford. Aoiwoi is ruled by a man known to everyone as "The Smiling Cat," only his most trusted advisors know his real name. He has a guard of the strongest men in Ekarode, whom he handpicked and lured into his service. Its capital is Wasiuo. Citileford: The western nation founded by the council’s greediest member, Vako. Vako chose the land with more plains, which could be easily built on. The nation has since become the richest and most luxurious in Ekarode. It houses the most cavalry squadrons in the continent, as well as having the most castles. Ruled by King Nerain and his wife Aralihn, a greedy, lustful and beauty-obsessed woman despised everywhere for her insensibility towards the poor and all people in general. Nerain is a weak-minded man who’s used as a puppet by his wife to keep her interests at top priority. Aralihn is a ruthless ruler that in her quest to obtain everything she desires has got "The Smiling Cat" on her side and has threatened to stop the commerce between the nations if they don’t give her more land to expand her kingdom. She is attributed for the fall of the original Army of Light by stating that it was being used to keep Lantel at its peak, thus the resurging of the conflicts. Its capital is named Liris. |
